JSF 1.2 + JSTL 1.2 + JSP 2.1

am using netbeans 6.0 beta and glassfish.
can i assume it has all JSF 1.2 + JSTL 1.2 + JSP 2.1 since it is the latest.

i checked in the project properties>linraries>add jar file>
in the folder i found JSF 1.2 JSTL 1.1 and nothing to do with JSP
on googling i got: A GlassFish Build includes an implementation of the JSP 2.1
on where to download JSTL 1.2 , i have no idea.
glassfish.
secondly. do i need to add those jar file to the project or the netbeans includes them when compiling.

  • Using JSTL variables in JSP or Javascript. Possible ?

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to share or use the variables which are declared are used by JSTL in JSP expression or scriplet code and in Java Script.
    Example:
    This Works:
    <fmt:set var="test" value="JSTL" />
    <fmt:out value="${test}" />
    But, this gives error:
    <% out.println(test) %>
    And passing the value of variable 'test' to Java Script code also gives error.
    How to use JSTL variables in JSP and in Javascript ?
    Yours,
    Sankar.B

    By default, JSTL variables are kept in servlet
    attributes. Default is to store it in the page
    context. You can make it request/session/application
    scope as required by an attribute of the set tag.Hi there,
    Can anyone advise how to access JSP variables in JSTL?
    Can it be done as the same method through request/session/application scope?
    Thnks...

  • Accessing JSTL values from JSP

    I've run into a problem I'm not sure has a solution. Could be bad design on my part, or just a poor imagination. If this has been answered previously, please point me to the post.
    I am using some JSTL to do a SQL query and displaying the records in a select box:
    <sql:query var="aResults" sql="select * from TYPE_STATE_LIST where tslAllowable=1" />
    <c:forEach var="oRecord" items="${aResults.rows}">
      <option value="<c:out value="${oRecord.tslID}" />"><c:out value="${oRecord.tslFullName}" /></option>
    </c:forEach>I want to be able to reset their selection to the value they entered when the form is refreshed, though. I'm trying to figure out how to grab the oRecord value from the JSTL and use it in a JSP IF statement:
    <% if( oRecord.tslID==request.getParameter("state") ) { %>
      <option selected value="<c:out value="${oRecord.tslID}" />"><c:out value="${oRecord.tslFullName}" /></option>
    <% } else { %>
      <option value="<c:out value="${oRecord.tslID}" />"><c:out value="${oRecord.tslFullName}" /></option>
    <% } %>I thought about using the JSTL <c:choose> tag instead, but then how would I access the previous value with request.getParameter()?
    Any suggestions?

    ${param.state}It's better if you place the sql query into a class rather than display it in the jsp, it's more flexible and programmable.

  • JSTL problem with JSP

    Hi,
    I am developing enterprise application using jboss portlets, ejb, jsp, jstl, other stuff on jboss AS.
    I am facing some interesting problem in a jsp page which uses jstl. I have configured all jsp configurations with my web application.
    Presently i am putting an endpage, current page integer values in a session.
    In JSP page whenever i want to iterate a loop and some checks on endPage, curPage it gives me NumberFormatException and finally it results to compile the jsp page.
    The error comes when i am using these variables from session with JSTL tags. The snippet where the problem seems to be is as :
    <c:forEach var="selection" begin="1" end="${endPage}">
         <c:if test="${selection == curPage}">
    May anyone help me on this or whether the there may be some problems with the JSTL configurations ?
    In my view JSTL configurations is ok but the problems seems to be in the statements above or there may be some other way to define it.
    Any inputs ?

  • JSF/Faces and JSTL

    Hi,
    I'm trying to make a jsp page that contains ADF Faces components and some conditions, using JSTL.
    Is it possible to use these together? I'm having a view-object that contains a query which returns records with an hour (as string, eg: 8:00) and a description. What I'm trying to do, is to create a selectOneRadio for each record. If the hour of the previous record is the same as the current hour .. the selectOneRadio will belong to the same group; I need JSTL to check the equality (<c:if>).
    Eg:
    Records returned by query:
    08:00 Description1
    08:00 Description2
    09:00 Description3
    09:00 Description4
    09:00 Description5
    Output wanted on the jsp: (O = selectOneRadio)
    08:00 O Description1 O Description2
    09:00 O Description3 O Description4 O Description5
    Thanks!
    Koen

    I added a new method to the AM which return a List. The list contains an object with a couple of strings and with another List. I display all the data like this:
    <af:forEach items="#{bindings.getNextPresentationsList.result}"
    var="presentation">
    <af:selectOneRadio label="#{presentation.startHour} - #{presentation.endHour}">
    <af:forEach items="#{presentation.subjects}" var="subject">
    <af:selectItem label="#{subject.subjectName}" value="#{subject.subjectName}"/>
    </af:forEach>
    </af:selectOneRadio>
    </af:forEach>
    [edit]
    It creates following layout (like I wanted)
    08:00 O Description1 O Description2
    09:00 O Description3 O Description4 O Description5
    [edit]
    I now have another problem :/ Because the data is dynamically displayed on the jsp .. I don't now how to bind the values to a bean-attribute.
    I hope my problem is clearly descriped ..
    And yet another thanks ;)

  • JSF (richfaces) component + JSTL forEach

    Hi,
    I'm using MyFaces implementation of JSF 1.2, together with RichFaces components, and inside a <rich:dataTable>'s <rich:column> I want to iterate over a Set, which is a property of the variable of the dataTable. Something like
    <rich:dataTable var="myvar">
    <rich:column>
       <c:forEach var="innerVar" values="${myVar.mySet}"
           ${innerVar}
       </c:forEach>
    </rich:column
    </rich:dataTable>But it doesn't work. myVar seems to be empty for c:forEach. The odd thing is that if I place the following code inside the <rich:column>
    <c:if test="${empty myVar">
            ${myVar.class.name}
    </c:if>the name of the class is outputted. I also tried # isntead of $, with no success.
    I tried iterating over a list in a declared backing bean, and it worked fine. So the question would go like this - how do I make this variable accessible for jstl tags' expressions.
    Edited by: Glammy on Mar 2, 2009 9:36 AM

    and why wouldn't you use a getter which does the transformation from Set to List just for the UI layer:
    public List<InnerVar> getInnerVarList() {
       // transform Set into a List<> here
    } and then in the UI:
    <rich:column>
       <ui:repeat var="innerVar" values="#{innerVarList}"
           #{innerVar}
       </ui:repeat>
    </rich:column>

  • JSTL javax.servlet.jsp.jstl.core.Config strange lookup

    Hi everyone !
    Could someone explain me this code in the class javax.servlet.jsp.jstl.core.Config :
    public static Object get(PageContext pc, String name, int scope) {
    switch (scope) {
         case PageContext.PAGE_SCOPE:
         return pc.getAttribute(name + PAGE_SCOPE_SUFFIX, scope);
         case PageContext.REQUEST_SCOPE:
         return pc.getAttribute(name + REQUEST_SCOPE_SUFFIX, scope);
         case PageContext.SESSION_SCOPE:
         return get(pc.getSession(), name);
         case PageContext.APPLICATION_SCOPE:
         return pc.getAttribute(name + APPLICATION_SCOPE_SUFFIX, scope);
         default:
         throw new IllegalArgumentException("unknown scope");
    Why adding a suffix when calling PageContext.getAttribute(String, int) ?
    This could lead to potential problems... For example, in my web application I want to share a single ResourceBundle for each JSP page and I would like to use <fmt:message/> tag to resolve my messages.
    For this purpose I added a LocalizationContext in my servlet context attribute in its init method:
    ResourceBundle bundle = ....
    LocalizationContext context = new LocalizationContext(bundle);
    servletContext.setAttribute(Config.FMT_LOCALIZATION_CONTEXT, context);
    Thus, the <fmt:message/> will be able to resolve the messages from this LocalizationContext...
    Unfortunately, this will never happen because the implementation of this tag call somewhere Config.find(PageContext, String) that will call the Config.get(PageContext, String, int) method....
    A quick fix would be to replace the name of the servlet context attribute :
    servletContext.setAttribute(Config.FMT_LOCALIZATION_CONTEXT + ".application", context);
    Could someone tell me if it is a bug ? A bug of the Message tag implementation ? A bug in JSTL code ? Or am I doing all wrong ?
    Note : I'am using a servlet 2.4/JSP 2.0 compatible application with the jstl 1.2 core library and the jakarta standard 1.1.2 implementation library. I'am using Jetty to test my application with Jasper as the JSP compiler...

    This is an internal decision made by JSTL as to how it stores its configuration values.
    The reason they have given here for the suffixes being added is to treat the four scopes as different namespaces, so that there can be no confusion between them.
    I'd say your mistake is trying to set this value into the attribute space yourself rather than using one of the defined interfaces for JSTL to do it - in web.xml, or using the Config class.
    I guess that would make your code
    Config.set(servletContext, Config.FMT_LOCALIZATION_CONTEXT, context); Using their interface for setting this attribute adds the required suffix automatically.
    Cheers,
    evnafets

  • How is JSTL different from JSP?

    What is JSTL & how exactly is it different from JSP?Is it more powerful than JSP,Where can it be used & can i get an example of it.

    JSTL is addition to JSP technology. It is set of html-like custom tags, that allows web page developers to do typical tasks without coding in java, but using reusable out-of-the-box tags.
    like
    <%@ taglib prefix="fmt" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/fmt" %>
    <html>
    <body>
      <h1>Formatting with the default locale</h1>
      <jsp:useBean id="now" class="java.util.Date" />
      Date: <fmt:formatDate value="${now}" dateStyle="full" />
      Number: <fmt:formatNumber value="${now.time}" />
    </body>
    </html>Take a look at http://java.sun.com/products/jsp/jstl/ for more details

  • Datatable without columns?

    I have a List of objects and want to output the value of one property from each object seperated by a line break without using an html table... only the value and the line break. Which component do I use to achieve this?

    If you're using JSF 1.2 + JSTL 1.2 + JSP 2.1 with unified EL, then you can als use c:forEach. Otherwise take a look for another component library which provides such a component, e.g. Tomahawk with t:dataList. Or write a custom component yourself.

    my problem solved 1- i use 2 managed bean , one of request scope (used in attendReport.jsp ) and the other with session scope (used in printAttendReport.jsp)
    2 - add new jsp contains the h:commandLink of the print (attendReportPrintAction.jsp)
    3 - divide the view of attendReport.jsp to two subviews (each subview has its own form) one contains inputs and outputs of attend and the other contains include to (attendReportPrintAction.jsp)
    <%@ include file="attendReportPrintAction.jsp" %>
    4 - send and get parameters using two methods
                public static Object getSessionMapValue(String key) {
                   return FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getSessionMap().get(key);
                public static void setSessionMapValue(String key, Object value) {
                   FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getSessionMap().put(key, value);
                }faces-config.xml
