PDF links open numerous pages in Firefox instead of saving file or opening it in preview

I changed by mistake an application opening PDF links from preview to firefox. Now it's a catastrophe as when I click on those they open thousands of new windows and everything stops working. I changed default program for PDF files to preview, but it didn't help. Does anybody know where in Firefox I can change default app to open linked contents? SOS

Oops, sorry, I menat in Firefox. Posted to  correct thread. Post can be deleted

  • How can I make multiple PDF links open in the same second tab, instead of a 3rd, 4th etc.

I am working on a project for my Universities 125 year anniversary.  Essentially I've created a 125 year long digital yearbook, with a link to the University's actual digital yearbook for each individual year.  I'm wondering if there is a way that I can make all of the yearbook links open in the same second page.
IE:  Main Project open in a window,  when I click the 1939 Yearbook pdf hyperlink, the 1939pdf will open in the second window.  I then want to find a way so that after this, on the main page, I can click the 1940 yearbook pdf link and have the 1940 yearbook load on the second window, replacing the 1939pdf, instead of just opening the 1940pdf on a third new tab/window?
Note: I have all of the yearbook PDF's online and downloaded, so I can make the hyperlink send you to the site, or do a download style thing.
Thank for any help, and if anyone needs further information just ask me!

  • Opening pdf links forces a crash in firefox and explorer

    hi
I've downloaded the trial version of acrobat pro - as soon as I click a pdf link or a web page has an embedded pdf both internet explorer and firefox crash out. I've had to disable pdf handling to allow them at least to be viewed separately to the browsers.
This is a brand new installation of windows XP Pro, so not that.
Any help or guidance would be appreciated

  • Have PDF links open in new browser window.

Hello. I'm new to creating PDFs with active links. I created a PDF that is linked within a page. When that link is clicked it opens up the PDF in a new window. I want the links in that PDF to open up in a new browser window. Is that possible? I don't see the option in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.
I have another question. The links don't work at all in mobile devices. Is there something I have to do to have the links work in an iPad, iPhone, etc?

Is the link an HTML link, or within a PDF? Is it a URL link or a file link?

  • When interactive pdf opens in browser window can the pdf links open in separate windows

Problem is the pdf works ok when it opens in the browser window, BUT the links in the pdf don't open in separate browser windows, as they do when the pdf is downloaded as a file.
If pdf links can only open in separate browser window when the pdf itself opens as a separate file, the how do I email a pdf download link on a website.

    Hello Yesh,
you can open PDFs as a guest user (without authentification):
    1. Allow Guest Access (Admin -> Security Configuration -> Check "Allow Guest Access" and select a folder name).
    2. Copy your Report into this guest folder
    3. You can open the Report as PDF with a link like this:
    http://(bip-server-name):9704/xmlpserver/(guest-folder-name)/(report-name)/(report-name).xdo?_xpt=0&_xf=pdf&_xmode=4(&report-parameters)
Just replace the strings in brackets. You find a great description of the URL parameters in Tim Dexters Blog
    http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2006/07/accessing_xmlp_enterprise_repo.html
I didn't find an option to set the height of the PDF-Output for the guest user in the BIP-UI. Maybe I missed something. But you can manually edit the configuration file. It is located on your BIP server direcory in the subdirectory xmlp/XMLP/Users. Select the guest users subdirectory and edit the configuration file "user~.profile".
In this XML config file there is an entry "viewerHeight". In the Value-Tag you can enter the PDF output windows height in pixel (but unfortunaly not in % - this was the question of my original posting).
    Hope that helps...

  • Opening links in new tab will not load pages either from new link or bookmarked pages after firefox 3.6 update

After updating my fire fox to 3.6.3 I now cannot click on links into a new tab it will just open a blank tab, after hitting refresh, nothing happens. But when clicking bookmark link it will open in new tab as wanted but will not load unless I re-click it a second time. Clicking links normally will load page. Entering a URL like www.yahoo.com will not load either. To get to this page I had to a search engine like yahoo and type in fire fox website and it from there.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Acrobat PDF links open in Safari

In OS X, with Acrobat CS4, I read a PDF article with a link to an online PDF file. This was opened inside of Safari, even though Firefox is my default browser. How do I change this behavior?
(I would have thought that Acrobat would open up an online Acrobat file in itself!)
    Thanks,
    Jim

Because they don't FireFox, and SeaMonkey are the most popular Web Browsers on the Macintosh Platform. and for some reason Adobe doesn't know how tow handle Gecko based rendering engines, and stick with rendering engines called WebKit; which are not any faster at rendering web pages. They don't realize that any Gecko base Web Browser can render any and all web pages (except those with Active-X, unless they have a plug-in), whether for using WebKit, or Gecko in Mind.
I've railing to Adobe about this for years. But it falls on deaf ears.
You have to remember adobe provides product for the Mac platform, even though they originated on that platform, out of of resignation , that they must. Than a real desire to create applications that work on any Platform. Adobe along with others tow the line of the 800 pound Gorilla (MS), rather than catering to need and desires of customers. Even if you put suggestion on their suggestion (feedback page) as soon as they see its from a Mac user it goes in the bit bucket.
The regular That answer question can deny it all they want but they know in their heart of hearts, they are true.

  • PDF -- link to web page--- in new tab??

Hi! I´m making a PDF that will be seen in browsers and when I put the links to open web pages they always open on the same tab as the PFD... How can I make them open on a new page o tab?? Is there a Javascript code?
    Thanks!!!

The code to do it is:
    app.launchURL("http://www.google.com", true);
But keep in mind it's not going to work if the PDF file is opened in non-Adobe PDF viewers.

  • CS 5.5 problem with PDF links of master page TOC

    Hi
Lately i moved from ID CS5 to CS5.5 working on Windows 7.
All spreads of my document are based on a master page. This mater page includes a pane with a TOC. This TOC serves as navigation pane.
When exporting the document to interactive PDF, the TOC appears on all spreads but the TOC links function well on the first spread and will not function on the next pages.
The interactive PDF export settings include: "open in full screen mode" and "buttons and Media = include all".
I made a test, and added hyperlink on the master page next to the TOC, now the TOC links turnned active on all pages but the PDF will not open in full screen although i did not change the export settings. If i remove this extra hyperlink the TOC links problem returns.
I used the same document a lot in the past (with CS5) and did not have any such problem.
Hope i managed to describe this case well.
    Highly appreciate your help.

I trashed the two preference files as instructed.
    Expoerted the file to IDML.
Opened the IDML file and saved it as an ID file.
    The problem still exist.

  • PDF links - open in new window

I have a PDF document that has web links that were created in InDesign, then exported as a PDF. Once in the PDF, the links are fine but I would like for a new browser window to open when they are clicked rather than within the same browser window. I can't seem to find this in the preferences or properties, etc? How do I do this? Thank you!

Is the link an HTML link, or within a PDF? Is it a URL link or a file link?

  • PDF links open in same IE7 window

Our organization recently upgraded to IE7. With this, links inside PDF files will not open in a new window or tab, they will only replace the active browser window. IE7's settings are for all external program's links to open in a new tab and all do except PDFs. How do I get the links in PDFs to stop replacing the active browser window and open in a new tab like they do in Word, Excel, etc?

Is the link an HTML link, or within a PDF? Is it a URL link or a file link?

  • Flash in PDF: linking to another page?

    Hi!
I need to add some interactive flash elements to a PDF, including some buttons that should make que document jump to a given page.
Can't find any documentation on this. How can it be done?
    thanks

It's possible (and according to the SDK extremely simple) but it doesn't work. If you have a SWF on page 1 (offset 0) then calling
    ExternalInterface.call("eval","this.pageNum=1");
from ActionScript is a Very Bad Idea, as the RMA is deactivated before the return value can be sent from the host to the EI handler. This kills Flash, which takes Acrobat/Reader down with it in a screaming mass of twisted metal and chocolate.
The workaround is to use EI in ActionScript to call a JS document-level function in the PDF which returns a value, but also spawns a timer-delayed function which changes the page. That way the RMA deactivation isn't coincident with the handshake, but it's messy.

  • Safari opens downloads in new tab instead of saving files

Whenever I click a download link in Safari (or Camino, or Firefox), the browser opens a new tab as if to open a web page. There is no apparent way to force the browser to save the file. This is a problem specific to my work Mac; my home Mac exhibits no such strange behavior.
    Please help! Thanks.

    Hi Chris
Usually download problems across browsers points to the presence of a 3rd party download accelerator installed in your system.
Do you have a trial version of Speed Download or iGetter? You would find Speed Download folder in your Applications folder. Inside there is an Uninstaller.
Also, look in HD>Library>InputManagers folder. iGetter or Speed Download bundle would be there.
If you have either, uninstall Speed Download to remove all its component parts. If you don't have SD in the Applications folder, but the bundle is in InputManagers, simply drag the bundle to the trash.
iGetter - simply drag the bundle to the trash.
Restart Safari or any other browser for the change to take effect.

  • Why is it, after nearly 7 years of existence, they still can't bring out a Firefox that doesn't delete all your saved tabs when you close Firefox instead of saving them?

    See title.

Are you using '''''Restore Previous Session''''' when you open Firefox?
Starting with Firefox 4, every session is saved but it is not automatically re-opened, the user needs to restore the previous session. It is in History and on the default homepage.
