  • Acrobat 9.3.2 Pdf opening without data.  Is this a bug ?

In previous versions till Acrobat 9.3.1, opening a fdf file containing data would open the corresponding pdf with data already populated.
However in 9.3.2, pdf opens without data.  Below are steps to create sample Pdf and Fdf to reproduce the issue
    1.  Create a pdf file with 2 text fields and save the same.
    2.  Populate some data in them and generate the corresponding FDF by exporting the data from the menu Forms->Manage Form Data->Export Data.
    2.  Close the Pdf without saving.
    3.  Now double click the fdf created in step 2.  Pdf opens without the data.
    4.  Repeat the step 3 in Acrobat 9.3.1, Pdf opens with data populated.
Let me know how to attach my sample Pdf and Fdf as attachments are not allowed in this mail.
Has anyone else also experienced the same issue and whether this is a bug in Acrobat 9.3.2?

Glad it helped; (for any nit-pickers out there I should have typed 8.2.2, sorry).

  • 3D PDF files in portfolio prints to Adobe PDF printer without content

3D PDF files in portfolio prints to Adobe PDF printer without content, but if printed from single 3D PDF file everything is fine. I need batch printing (this is the reason I use portfolio) of large amount of 3DPDF files because of the need to have proper preview of these files in browsers. Any ideas or workarounds how to have preview pdf's or jpg's of the single paged 3D PDF files, keeping relevant file names?

I suspected as much.  I was hopeful it was something like a setting that needed to be changed or a reg hack that needed a bit changed from 0 to 1 to make the printing work as expected.  I only installed the local printer to see if the RDP session
tunnel was in fact causing the print size to balloon so I will continue to instruct users to use that instead of the local redirected printer.  I am disappointed but not surprised.
    Edit:
Additionally I have tested the functionality of setting the GPO settings for Easy Print to use the redirected printer's drivers instead of the ones used by easy print, by setting “Computer
Configuration -> Administrative templates -Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host -> Printer Redirection”.
    to “Disabled” but
with no luck.  In fact the printer received the proper Adobe PDF driver, but the job went out into print spool hell and was lost to the ether.  I have concluded that this approach will not bear any fruit.

  • PDF Printing without Oracle BI Publisher and OC4J

    Hi All
I am using Apex 3.1.2 on Oracle 10g XE. I am trying to enable PDF printing. But I am struck with Oracle BI and OC4J. I have read it some where (in a blog and I don't remember its name) that you can enable PDF printing without Oracle BI and OC4J.
Please let me know what I should do to enable PDF this way. Any links, document pointers greatly acknolwledged.
    Thanks in advance.
    Guru

    Hi guru,
This was the reply I had got for posting the same question some time back.
Pdf printing option without using BI Publisher can be done using PL/PDF (http://www.plpdf.com) which provides a programmatic way to generate PDF documents (it doesn't produce Word docs as far as I'm aware however).

  • How to protect against a pdf printing without protecting the file with a password ?

I want to know if it's possible to protect a PDF against printing without protecting the file with a password ?
It's possible to make it with Acrobat Reader or another version ?
    Thank You
    Best regards.

    Hi,
Yes, you can restrict editing and printing of the document; although you have setup a permission password (To restrict the users from changing the document permissions).
Please follow the steps mentioned below:-
Open the file in Adobe Acrobat- Document properties- Security- Change security method to password security- Select Restrict editing and printing of the document

  • Adobe PDF printing: missing data

I'm trying to print some very data intense Excel graphs to pdf, and when the graphs print, none of the curves show up (empty graph).  I think this is because there are so many data points.  Is there a way to adjust the pdf settings so it will print the graphs correct, without me eliminating data points?

I am having the same problem.  I am using Excel 2007 to print PDFs.  I have a graph of about 8000 data points and 11 curves.  The graphs appears okay on the screen and it is okay when I choose the print preview option.  However, the output file displays only three of the curves.

  • Create a pdf print without the HD files

    Hello every one,
Working on Macintoch with Lightroom 4.2
Before we were able to print a pdf file on Mac, even if we weren't connected to the Raw files.
It was enought to click on "brouillon" in french, what is draft I think in english I think.
But now with lightroom 4, I can't do it anymore.
Is it another way to do it ?
It was realy helpfull while you were traveling, you didn't have to plug you hard drive, and it was plenty enough to show to my client.
And also it was way faster, and I didn't have to travel with all my HD files.
    Thank for you help.

I don't know why it changed, but you could put in a feature request at the Official Feature Request/Bug Report Forum
In the meantime, besides waiting until you're back at the office or travelling with your photos, that plug-in I posted is your best bet.  It'll output the largest previews that LR has available, so you can then import those into Lr for printing or showing your clients.

  • PDF Printing without BI  - a solution that works

I have used the instruction givein in the follwing post:
    http://carlback.blogspot.com/2007/03/apex-cocoon-pdf-and-more.html
    Below are my steps
    1.) Install java sdk
2.) Create environment variable JAVA_HOME that points to this dir. : JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_20
3.) Extract c:\zipfiles\apache-tomcat-6.0.29-windows-x64.zip to the directory where the program will be executed.(D:\ApexPDFPrintserver)
4.) Do the same with cocoon-2.1.11-src.zip and fop_post.zip.
5.) Open a CMD and go to that directory.
6.) Check if the java home is set: (set J should show all environment variables starting with J)
7.) Change directory to the cocoon installation: (D:\ApexPDFPrintserver\cocoon-2.1.11)
8.) Compile the cocoon app by typing the following : D:\ApexPDFPrintserver\cocoon-2.1.11\build war
9.) Copy the cocoon.war file from D:\ApexPDFPrintserver\cocoon-2.1.11\build\cocoon to the appache web apps directory => D:\ApexPDFPrintserver\apache-tomcat-6.0.29\webapps
10.) Edit the server.xml (D:\ApexPDFPrintserver\apache-tomcat-6.0.29\conf) file to change the port on which the server would be available to:8085 (8080 is used by APEX) on this installation
11.) change dir to D:\ApexPDFPrintserver\apache-tomcat-6.0.29\bin and enter startup
12.) Apache will now create a cocoon webapp.
    13.) Copy the fop_post dir to D:\ApexPDFPrintserver\apache-tomcat-6.0.29\webapps\cocoon.
14.) You can now test you Tomcat installation: http://localhost:8085/
15.) And the cocoon installation.: http://localhost:8085/cocoon/.
14.) Configure the APEX installation to use this printserver. http://localhost:8080/apex/apex_admin.
15.) The settings can be found at manage Instance => Instance settings = > Select the report printing tab.
    16.) Print server: Standard
    17.) Print server protocol: HTTP
18.) Printserver host address: this machine's IP
    19.) Print server port :8085
    20.) Print serverScript: /cocoon/fop_post/
    21.) Happy printing!!
Remember to give the parsing user right to access the network.
I have used the same script provided with the APEX installation to give the APEX_0400 user rights to the network.
    Have fun

change to lanuching gdm from your inittab using run-level 5
    or remove agetty from tty2
    both will resolve the issue.
Actually, how will running gdm from inittab help with this issue?
And I didn't understand what you meant by "remove agetty from tty2"
You know, I am pretty sure that the issue has to be with xorg. I was having this issue a lot a month ago, but then, a certain upgrade of xorg fixed the issue. I was fine for a few weeks. My computer never crashed. But, unfortunatly, a package in that same upgrade was broken and I ended up upgrading the system again a few weeks ago. xorg also upgraded at the same time. Now, my computer keeps crashing randomly and in random ways.
I think that the best thing to do is to keep up with the xorg updates, find one that works for your system and have pacman ignore all upgrades to xorg after that.
Actually, if anyone can tell me how to downgrade xorg to its state 3 weeks ago, it would be absolutely awesome.
    Thanks
Because if you use runlevel 5 you dont have agetty on TTY2 so it won't try and kill xorg all the bloody time
The problem is caused because GDM is starting so fast the XORG server it loads up checks for free VT's and finds TTY2 is empty and starts on it. THEN your inittab fires up agetty on TTY2.. which promptly causes hell to arrive in a handbag.
You really need to be less critical of people offering you advice.. and possibly even check what they have posted in the past.. like the threads from months ago dealing with this issue. (search is great you know)

  • Getting the frame to print without data

I have a detailed query. The detail records query returns no rows of data. I still want the frame to print. I would like to have the fields all to be set to zero.
I have set the fields property palette, set null fields to 0.0 This doesn't work, because no rows of data are found with the query.
Is it possible to print the frame even though the query returns no data on a detail record query.
I was able to get my frame to print if it was not a detail record query.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    hello,
if the query does not return data at all, there is no way to print the frame as a frame-instance represents a record. if you can somehow manage, that your query returns a row with NULL-values (e.g. use an outer-join in the query.) you can make it print.

  • Firefox 28 hangs when I try to print to Acrobat PDF printer

    Hello all!
I have observed a problem when I try to print a webpage in Firefox v28 using the Acrobat PDF Printer (Acrobat Pro 9.5.5) installed in a Virtual Machine (VMware View 5.2) with Windows 7 64 bits. The printing dialog hangs (no response) after the "Save as" pdf dialog. Then I have to force Firefox to close, and afterward a Acrobat PDF conversion dialogs appears with the progress bar stopped at the middle. I also have to close this afterwards.
The others programs (Office, IE, Notepad...) are able to print through the PDF printer without problems. The problem appeared after the automatic update to Firefox v28, since when I downgrade to Firefox v26 the problem disappears.
I checked a similar configuration in a physical computer (W7 64 bits, Acrobat Pro 9.5.5, Firefox v28), and everything runs good, so I think it is a change that happened in Firefox v28 that has some problem with the VM configuration. I also have tried to change the Firefox profile, reset Firefox and reset the printing settings and reinstall Acrobat. No luck.
I would like to know if somebody know some change in Firefox v28 related with the printing or related to some service or update that can have some problem in the virtual machine.
    Any help is welcome!
    Thanks!

When you updated, did you reset the printer settings in '''about:config''' under '''print.print_printer'''?

  • Cannot print directly to the Adobe PDF printer

Hi. I cannot print directly to the Adobe PDF printer since receiving my new computer. I use Acrobat 9 (updated to the latest patch today) on a 64-bit Win 7 computer. A colleague has the same set up and she can print to the Adobe PDF printer without any issues. Fyi, I have tried printing from Word, my email program, & webpages with the same result, which is that the document goes into the printing queue and then the process just stops. This wasn't an issue on my previous computer running the same Acrobat version but under Win XP.
I have updated to the latest patch, and I have tried a repair installation of Acrobat with no affect. What am I missing?
    Thanks.

Please check that when you print to PDF, the Save as dialog might goes in background. Watch for blinking icon in the taskbar at the bottom. Click the icon and give output PDF name.
If this is the case then this is known problem at MS end. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2567869
This problem comes when printing from 32bit apps on 64bit OS.

  • Very slow printing to default Adobe PDF printer

I have a 150 page FrameMaker document (with lots of linked Illustrator CS4 files) that is taking 7 MINUTES to print to the default Adobe PDF printer. In contrast, an old QuickSilver / Interleaf document that is 200 pages long and contains even more graphics embedded as huge TIF files, takes 20 seconds to print to the same default Adobe PDF printer.
I have tried all the suggestions I can find on the web, including Adobe forums, but nothing works. Can anyone suggest why printing from FrameMaker 9 to Adobe PDF is taking such a long time? It would appear to be a FrameMaker problem, since every other application can print to the Adobe PDF printer without any problems, and so can FrameMaker... but only at a snail's pace!
I am using TS2 (FrameMaker 9 and Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended) on a 3.0 GHz Quad Core PC running Windows XP Pro.

    My computer
    Windows XP Professional
    Version2002
    Service Pack 3
    Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4CPU 3.00GHz
    2.99GHz, 3.25GB of RAM
Using Acrobat 8.1 Professional. (Haven't upgraded because I saw too many posts with people having problems.)
Using Adobe Design Premium CS3 (I use AI files, we always have for any vector files and way to many to change over to EPS.)
We have also been changing over from Interleaf. I really like FM except for this problem. Very glad to get out of Interleaf.
We also used InDesign for a while and there are no problems printing to pdf.

This question comes up a lot. Did you try searching? It depends on the PDF printer driver that you're using. See here, here, here, ...
