PDF Reader Component problem

I am building an application in C#. I was wondering if there is a way to use the component but not allow a user to save the pdf to their local system. Possibly even disabling the toolbar in the component?

I'm not sure what you mean by "save the PDF to their local system"?  In order to open the PDF, it must already be on their local system.  Even if you point the ActiveX control to a URL on another system, that file will be downloaded to the local system to be opened.
If you are using Reader, as your title suggests, the user won't be able to save changes made to the PDF anyways (as long as the PDF is not Reader Enabled).

    Hi
I've a big problem with adobe acrobat reader XI pro and I hope you can help me.
The problem is; when I past copied text from some pdf books (not all of them) it past symbols only! wherever I past it! and even if I coped that text from another pdf reader (adobe pdf reader, internet browsers, ...etc.).
This problem started to happen since yesterday when I installed adobe acrobat reader XI pro to try it before I buy it, and before that when I was using the free adobe pdf reader I was totally able to copy any text from any pdf and past it anywhere with nothing wrong.
    What can I do?
    thank you a lot.

There is no product called Adobe Acrobat Reader Pro. There is
    - Adobe Acrobat Pro ($$)
    - Adobe Reader (free)
Which do you have? And are you a programmer?

I recently installed Nuance's pdf reader and thought that might be the problem. Uninstalled it. Still have the problem with Firefox.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

How about if you right click on the PDF and select Save Link As..., and then open it locally from within Reader? Does it work ok then?  That might be a workaround until the issue within the browser is resolved.

  • Problem with PDF Reader and Create PDF plugins

    Hello,
I use Internet Explorer Nine. The Adobe PDF Reader plugin disappeared from my browser. When I look at the listing of my add-ons, Adobe PDF reader appears in the list of all add-ons but not in the list of currently loaded add-ons. I have tried reinstalling Adobe Reader X and adding the FileOpen.api file to the plug-ins subfolder of the reader folder of the Reader 10.0 program files folder to no avail. How did the plugin disappear from by browser? How can I reinstall the plugin? Would reinstalling Adobe Acrobat Standard XI help?
I was once able, on every website, to turn in a portion of the text and/or pictures on the website into a PDF file by right-clicking and clicking on "Convert to Adobe PDF." Now, I can perform this action only on certain websites. When I cannot perform the action correctly, the entire webpage is converted into a PDF file. What could be causing the malfunction? How can I fix it?
Thank your for your help. Have an excellent day.

I&m not quite sure I understand your problem.  You have Adobe PDF Reader under All Add-ons; is it enabled?
Can you view any PDFs in Internet Explorer?

  • Adobe PDF Reader causing error in Windows 7

    Greetings everyone.
I created a very simple VB.NET windows form application that only has one control, the Adobe PDF Reader. I created this project in both VS 2005 (.NET 2.0) and VS 2010 (.NET 3.5). My developer machine is XP SP3 32 bit. I experienced the same problem with version 8 and 10 of Adobe Reader.
When I compile the application and run the EXE file on my XP machine, everything is fine. I can see the form with the Adobe PDF Reader control. When I try to run the same program on our new Windows 7 SP 1 32 bit test machine, I get a generic Windows 7 error that says "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program" and I never see the form.
Has anybody else had this experience with Adobe PDF Reader on Windows 7?

I appear to have found the solution to the problem RE AcroPDF.dll with Windows 7.
I had Visual Studio 2010 installed on our Windows 7 test machine. I added Adobe Reader to the list of controls. When I tried to add the control to a form I got an error that said:
Failed to create component 'AxHost'. The error message follows: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.
When I researched this error in Adobe's forums, I found another user that basically said I needed to go to the Internet settings, under Preferences for Adobe Reader X, and make sure the box for Display PDF In Browser was checked.
After testing with my applications, this does appear to resolve the problem.
Let me know if anyone has any additional comments. Thanks for the help.

  • PDF reader not opening in I.E.

When I try to open a PDF from I.E. through download then it gives an error saying "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found"
    I.E. version : 8.0
    PDF Reader version: 9.4.6
    I have tried the following:
    1) Deleting the browser Cache.
    2) Entering URL in Security(enhanced)
    3) Checking the Display in Browser option.
Can some one suggest any other way I can fix this problem?

    Hi  Vimal,
When you install Microsoft Dynamics CRM, SharePoint Server integration is enabled by default. However, for a richer user experience, you can do the following:
Install Microsoft Dynamics CRM List Component for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 server or Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013.
Enable Document Management for Entities: Select the entities in Microsoft Dynamics CRM for which you want to create and manage documents on SharePoint Server. More information: Enable
document management for entities. When you enable document management for an entity in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, a Documents link under the Common group in the left pane is added for the all entity records
in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Web application. You can use the Documents link to create or manage SharePoint Server location records for the entity record.
Specify the target SharePoint server: Specify the URL of a site or site collection on the SharePoint Server 2010 or SharePoint Server 2013. This URL is used to automatically create folders and document libraries
    on SharePoint.
For more information, please refer to the blog:

  • PDF Reader and Editor for Playbook

    Hi Guys,
Hope all is well with you...
I recently bought playbook, adobe pdf reader sucks...period....I cannot find "words"...No options at all.
Whenever I read a book, I like to underline the text which I find important, also when on the middle of the page, if I need to refer another name in the document, I use "find"....Now  I am not able to do both. Also there is no app on the app world as well. So sad...
Can anyone face similar problem, Hope you guys can help me...
    Thanks
    Sincerely,
    Chandra

I downloaded yesterday Jotsy from the BB App Store (right now it is available for free).
Besides being a PDF Reader it also allows you to select a page number without scrolling to it, highlight text lines, add comments, circle text, and save these changes or undo those changes.
Jotsy comes in ‘2 slices’. You install one on your PB and the other one on your PC. When you install the PC component you need first to install java (I had to uninstall it, then installed java from java.com, and then re-installed Jotsy to get the Jotsy icon placed into the notification area of the system tray. You need this one.
Today I set-up a “cloud’” account with box.com (right now it is available for free till March 23) and now Jotsy syncs with my files in the Jotsy PC folder on my desktop and the Jotsy box folder in the “cloud”, i.e. the box.com’s server where one can store up to 5 GB of files either from your PB or smartphone (via upload from your media card folders or send your attachments from email as an email forwarded to your box account (wow)).
What does sync do? It copies files from both locations to your hidden Jotsy folder in your PB so you can work ‘Offline’ on your documents. One thing I didn’t like. I needed to upload my PB OS 2 manual to the “cloud” from my PB document folder rather than move it locally (I guess this is good for service providers). However, now I can go directly to pages I want tot go from the index without scrolling through the whole manual and make notes right there in my manual or underline text.
If this is what your are looking for click the like icon in this box. Thx, matt

  • How do I display the web address within Adobe PDF Reader 10 & IE 9 64-bit?

Until a week ago, I was using IE 9 32-bit version together with Adobe PDF Reader 10.    When I would try to open a PDF file from within the browser, it would and the Web Address would continue to display at the top of the window while browing the PDF document.  I could then continue using IE 9 and move on to other pages and etc...
Now, I have swtiched to using the IE 9 64-bit version.  What happens now is that when I enter an address in the web browser and it's a direct link to a PDF file  example:   https://www.technicalindicatorindex.com/newsletter/bpdf/TII_Newsletter_1686a_10.11.11_7055 475115.pdf   ), it opens up with no problems, but I no longer see the IE 9 Web Address shown anywhere.  So in essence, that page becomes a Adobe PDF program window and I loose my IE 9 access.   I guess the PDF files are no longer displayed within the browser (althought I have it check ON).
    Am I missing something?

I did write there, but no replies
I guess that with Adobe Reader 10.1.1 running with IE 9.x in x64 bit mode, you cannot open the PDF within explorer, as it does it outside it as a separate Window?
    Correct?

  • E70 PDF Reader : Unable to open. File type not sup...

This morning I have bought an E70, among others due to its highscreen resolution and the possibility to run a PDF reader on it.
    I have now tried ...
      - the pre-installed Adobe PDF Reader
      - the Adobe PDF Reader supplied with the PC Suite CD-ROM
      - the Adobe PDF Reader available on europe.nokia.com
I am fascinated by a software which presents itself in the About box as '1.5', prompts during installation for '1.0.5' and has filenames '1_5_0'.
Apart from minor variations in the SIS filenames they all share the same annoying feature: They refuse to display any of my PDF files but display a message 'Unable to open. File type not supported. 5. !' instead.
It doesn't seem to be a problem of the PDF files, since a collegue of mine was able to open them on his E61 or E70 (forgot to ask).
Any idea what this problem could be caused by?

I am speechless -- but happy.
The complaint about the file type only appears if you try to open a PDF stored in the phone memory but not if you try to open a PDF stored on the memory card.
    Problem solved.

  • PDF Reader on iPad and iPhone

Why isn't there an iPad and iPhone app to read PDFs that I have stored on iCloud Drive?

Has the PDF document sent to your iPad 4 and iPhone 5s via email and opened in Apple Mail?  Apple Mail on iOS has known bugs with attachments (not just PDF documents).
Please take a look at Problem #1: Some PDF attachments opened in Apple Mail on iOS are corrupted or damaged in the following document.
How to avoid known PDF email attachment problems
Alternatively, you can take the original PDF document (without damage) on your Windows/Mac computer and uploaded via a cloud storage service (e.g. Acrobat.com, Dropbox, Google Drive) and download it to your iOS device.
