PDF signature and "save as"

I haven't been able to find another discussion on this topic, so let me explain my situation and see if someone can help with a solution.
When some is signing a document with reader, a "save as" window pops up and will allow them to save over the original.  This in itself is not the problem as I will host the file and prevent them from saving over the original, the problem is I would like a way to automate that "save as" with a pre determined filename and location so the computer novices will not mess things up to bad.  Even a default name and location that they can change would be ok.
Thank You in advance.

The application is in IE8 and compatibility view settings are active. The document is uploaded and then added to a list of the person's documents on the same page. When the representative clicks on the hyperlink to access the document, the only missing item is the digital signature. The process of uploading includes receiving the document as an email attachment, a scanned document, or a faxed document (TIFF image). So, in some instances the document is converted to a PDF.

How do I convert mail merge documents to individual pdf docs and save each with a field in the merge?

Is this an actual field, or just some piece of static text somewhere? Either way, you can't do it using the Split Document command. You'll need to use a custom-made script to read the value of this "field" and use it when extracting pages from the file.

  • How to sign a pdf file and save it directly back to sharepoint site?

    Hello,
I own a Sharepoint site for testing. It is installed in my computer with Sharepoint 2010 (WSS). What I want to do is to find a way to achieve a signing function for pdf file type on sharepoint.
By refer to this site below, the site has been able to recognize pdf file type and open it and edit it directly on the sharepoint site.
    http://www.portalsolutions.net/Blog/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=40
I can edit the pdf file by checking out and then the modification will be save directly back to the pdf file in the shared document library when I am done. Now the problem is, I cannot save the pdf directly back to sharepoint after I inserted a digital signature
    to the pdf file.
Everytime I inserted a digital signature to the pdf file, a "save as..." window would pop up and asked me to save the signed pdf file as another file in my local computer, so the changes were not applied to the original pdf file on the shared document library
of my sharepoint site. I have to upload the local signed version back to the site and replace the old one manually.
    Any suggestion? Thank you.

    Hi,
According to my analysis, for Digital Signatures: Adobe has changed the behavior around digital signatures and SharePoint-hosted PDF files. Now, when digitally signing a SharePoint-hosted PDF file, it will be saved directly to SharePoint if that PDF file
is already checked out. If not, the user will be prompted to check it out. When digitally signing a SharePoint-hosted PDF file in Acrobat X, Version 10.0, the user would be prompted to save that file locally and would then need to upload it separately to SharePoint
    as a new version.
I suggest that you use Acrobat X, then check the result. For more information about Acrobat X, please refer to
    http://blogs.adobe.com/pdfitmatters/2011/06/whats-new-in-acrobat-x-version-10-1.html
In addition, you can also consider the following third-party tool:

  • Fill in PDF forms and save/export as *un-editable* PDF?

    Hi all,
I have a client for whom I am creating an invoice template. I created the file in InDesign and have exported as a PDF.
Working with Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.1.4 on Mac 10.6.8, I have managed to add text fields for my client to fill in with job-specific information. (Job number, item / descriptions / costs and so on).
Is there a way that he/she can fill in job specifics, and then save or export the file so that when opened by their client, it appears as UN-editable?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Fill-in PDF forms and save with no error messages. How?

I've saved a Reader Extended PDF enabling form fill-in and save, but users report error saying, "WITHOUT THE OWNER PASSWORD YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO SAVE THIS DOCUMENT." What do I need to do enable them to fill-in and save with no errors?

BTW, most users of this form (which was created in Adobe Acrobat v. XI on a Mac w/iOS version 10.7.5) have no problem with it. Only certain users (on Macs) have this "password required" error show up. How do I make it workable for everyone, including these Mac users?

  • How do I edit a pdf document and save it without having to save it as a new file?

I recently copied a pdf document to my computer. I need to make changes to it and forward it to someone else for review. I can make the changes, but when I try to save it, I get a message that the document is read only or is already open. As far as I can tell, there are no restrictions on the document and it is not already open.
I am using Adobe Acrobat X on a PC running Windows 7 64 bit.
Any help with this frustrating problem would be appreciated.

Often what you describe occurs because Windows Explorer is open and has focus on the file.
Put focus elsewhere and, if the Preview mode is "on" turn it "off".

  • How to make a pdf editable and save for print

    Hi,
I just joined Adobe Cloud and it's been a while since I have used acrobat. I have made a brochure that I need a couple of things to be editable on. See below. I need the two areas highlighted in red to be editable for different locales/people. My questions are:
    A) I assume Acrobat is the way to do this. I also have FormsCentral if that works better. Can someone tell me how to make these two fields editable?
    B) What program do they edit with?  Acrobat Reader?
    C) How do they save and output it for print?
    Thank you,
    John

This is not about what Acrobat can or can't do - and you just said they won't have it anyway. It's about the limitations of PDF. A proper solution is to develop (at some expense) a server side PDF generator that takes the user's input and makes them a custom PDF. I don't know if you can just subscribe to a service to do this. If you aren't going to have them use Acrobat, form fields are your only option. Be sure they (and you) understand the limitations and that they must use Reader (not one of the many other PDF viewers). Be sure you understand about reader enabling: many versions of Reader CANNOT SAVE filled in files unless they are specially prepared.
So back to your original question: how do you make the fields editable: with the Forms function in Acrobat. You may have better luck in the Acrobat Forms forum.

  • PDF form and save

I created a survey using pdf forms that I am testing out. There is a submit button at the end of the survey that is linked to my email address. Once someone hits save, a window pops up giving the option to submit by outlook or through an internet email address. A colleague of mine is also testing the survey but when she hits submit, a window pops up forcing her to save it. She doesn't have the option of selecting to send it through outlook or through and internet email address.
Any ideas why this may be happening?

You have to Reader-enable the document. For a recent discussion, see: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4989762#4989762

  • In C#, how can I detect an opened PDF file and save it into disk?

he WebBrowse componente in C# opened an PDF file inside. The file came from the Internet. So, the Adobe Acrobat Reader was called and opened the file correctly. I want to save this file to disk. How can I do it?
The WebBRowse component does not have access to the PDF content.

PDFs are not designed to be editable. Your engineers can make comments using Adobe Reader without any extra steps provided they use the highlight and sticky note comments. If you want them to have access to the full range of comment markup you will need to use Acrobat to apply extended rights to the file.

OK I will try to elaborate this time with pictures so it is clear what I am asking and what the issue I am facing is.
The specific option I want to be able to use from within the Adobe Acrobat Pro user interface is
    File\Create\Batch Create Multiple Files
When I select that menu item a floating tool bar thing pops up that I can drag and drop files onto.
If I drag excel or powerpoint documents onto it and press OK it converts them fine.  If I drag MS word documents into it the documents appear in the list but when I click OK it says no files processed.
In the process of troubleshooting I also tried using the Add Files button.  That is when I discovered that MS word documents (*.doc, *.docx) are not showing up in the list of supported file types.
The same thing happens when I try converting a single file using the File\Create\Create PDF From File menu item. Just like above the MS word documents do not show up in the list of supported file types.
Looking in my registry entries as suggested by the article linked to by one of the posters above I can see both *.doc and *.docx types registered in the correct place.
Unless I can use the batch convert command as intended by the time my trial period runs out in 13 days I cannot justify buying this software. If converting the documents one at a time was acceptable I would just use Save As PDF from within MS Word which works just fine. I need the batch convert function so I can convert my whole library of word documents to PDF at once.
    Any further assistance greatly appreciated!

    Gray

  • How to extract part of a pdf page and save that as a pdf page on its own?

I need to extract part of a pdf page. I know how to extract full page, but that is not what I want. I need to extract part of it, ideally, using the mouse to select some rectangular area, and export the selected part to either separate pdf page, or to export to  vector graphics such as .svg
Is there a tool to allow one to do this? Currently I take screen shot of the page, and use other tools to extract the parts I want. thanks.

thank you. The crop tools helps. But I am still not sure what to do after I select the area I want. I looked at Acrobat Help | Crop PDF pages
So, after I select the crop tool and select the area. Now what to do?
If I double click the cropped area, as the help says, it will just delete everything on the page except the cropped area.
How do I tell it to either export the selected area to .svg, or save the selected area to a separate one page pdf file?  I do not want to modify the original PDF file, I just want to make a copy of the cropped area, either to .svg image, or to separate pdf file, so I can include that in another document.

  • Is it possible to scale an entire pdf document and save it?

i have an existing pdf document that is 400 pages. i need to scale the entire thing to 95% of it's current size. i do NOT want to print it, so please don't tell me to go to page size and print.
i simply want to scale the entire document to 95% of it's current size and then save it as a pdf document.
    is this possible?

Another method would be to place the pages in an InDesign document and export a new PDF. InDesign CS2 and higher let you place multiple pages at a time. It's not automated but it's pretty fast.
