PDF with Flex/Flash not running on iPhone

Dear all
I have a pdf document including Flex content running perfectly in the Acrobat or Reader on Windows.
On the iPhone the Flex is not shown.
Is there any solution to this?

Flash has never been and never will be supported on the iPad. Furthermore, Adobe has withdrawn Flash support from other mobile devices so you're out of luck.

What about embedding it yourself?
Create empty HTML file, download swfobject.js: http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/downloads/list
And use this block of code. Of course, change name of swf file, width and height. Unpack swfobject.js right next to the html file.

Flex 4.5.1 AIR application is not running on iPhone 3gs

I developed an iOS application in Flash builder 4.5 with flex 4.5.1 extension using AIR 2.6. This application is successfully installed on iPhone4G. When I tried to install it on iPhone 3GS it say, this application is not compatible with this iPhone.
My iPhone 3GS is running iOS 4.2.1
Is the iOS version 4.2.1 is not supported for Flex iOS app development or there is any other issue. Please help, thanks in advance.

Yes AIR 2.6 is compatible with iOS 4.2.1.I'd recommend you update to the latest version of FB and AIR. You should download the free upgrade to Flash Builder 4.6 and build from there. It's much improved and AIR 3.x has better performance all around.
Regarding the incompatibility issue, you're absolutely sure you have an iPhone 3GS and not the 3G? They look nearly identical. One sure way to tell is to plug it into iTunes and see if you can upgrade the OS to the latest iOS 5.x. If you can't upgrade to iOS 5, then it's for sure a 3G and is not compatible with AIR 2.6+

.ipa file not running on iphone

Hi,
Apps created by using Flash CS5.5 executed on apple device successfully.
But nw I want to execute any .swf app on iphone/ipad from command prompt.
So, I downloaded simple helloWorld.swf file from http://www.mediafire.com/?bf2f9uii1h1xksb
& using "adt" command I created it's .ipa file.
Bt the problem is that it is not running in my iphone means app icon come there bt launched with white blank screen..
What may be the problem?

Although you called it a simple hello world swf, it's not simple. It does show "hello world", but the code it is running involves an RSL Preloader, and it's accessing external URLs. Specifically it downloads a Flex framework file. That isn't something that you'll get away with when making iOS apps.

Web links in .pdfs inoperable- "Acrob. could not run the browser"

I keep my Adobe Reader updated often, but I've been experiencing a severe inconsistency with the ability to open a (FFox) web page by clicking a link given by the author of any given .pdf., embedded in it. Sometimes it works and opens up the new FFox page OK. But maybe a little more than half the time I first get a security warning, "The document is trying to connect to (URL). If you trust this site, choose 'Allow'. If you do not trust this site, choose 'Block' ". So, I'll click 'allow' and then I get a window saying, "Acrobat could not run the web browser. Unknown error (740).
I've tried to find out more about an error 740, but there's no relation online between any error w/ that # and Adobe. It reads kind of contradictory anyway, since it says "unknown error" but then gives you an error #. Ideas, anyone? Thanks.

I'm having the same problem and have found a few suggestions from different places that may help.
1. Add the site / host to the trusted sites list in Internet explorer. E.G http://hostname or file://hostname or hostname.
2. In Adobe reader or Acrobat go to START>PREFERENCES>JAVA SCRIPT Untick 'enable Acrobat JavaScript'.
3. Create the documents from open office and use the export to PDF option.
The last option seemed to work when adding the hostname to the trusted sites list in IE 8 (IE 6 didn't work)
One thing I noticed when I created PDF's this way is the link was displayed as file://hostname/share/doc.pdf.
When I converted a document from MS Word 2007 and used Acrobat standard to convert the document the link was displayed as file://///host/share.doc.pdf.
I'm not sure why the extra //// were added but it seems that MS word puts the hyperlink in this format.
As I said creating the document in Open Office worked when I added the host in IE 8's trusted site list but this isn't acceptable for me due our SOE restrictions.

Flash Islands Tutorial I - Confusion with Flex/Flash Builder Versions

Hi Guys,
i am new to the Adobe Flex/Flash Islands technology and tried to implement Tutorial I by Thomas Jung. Unfortunately i am confused by the various different versions for flex and the corresponding IDE's.
As far as i understood SAP at the moment only supports Flex versions up to version 3.3 for NetWeaver 7 EHP1. Furtheron the Adobe Charting Components (used in the Tutorial) seem to be part of the Flex Builder Professional Version only.
So i went to the Adobe Website and looked into the products and download areas. All i found was Flash Builder 4.5 Premium and the various Adobe and Open Source Flex SDK versions. I am using Flash Builder 4.5 as a trial right now. Unfortunately the Charting Components are not included.
So the question i have is whether the Charting Components (e.g. <mx:BarChart /> )are included in the non Trial version of Flash Builder 4.5 Premium or whether there is any possibility to get them as an Add-On. Or do i have to use Flex Builder 3 Professional (i found no information about this on the Adobe Website)?
Additional Hint:
I found out that when i compile the poject with Flex SDK vesion 3.6 or higher, the compiler knows the <mx:BarChart /> tag. Also in that case the view designer is working. However FlashIslands is only supported up to Flex SDK 3.3. But when i choose 3.3 the <mx:BarChart /> tag and some other related tags are unknown.
This is a really anoying issue.

wtith Web Dynpro, you can only use Flex SDK version 3.3 and downwards. You can download the SDK here [http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/DownloadFlex3]
Flash Builder ships with Flex SDK 4.5 which is not compatible with WDA flash islands.
As for the charts library, which Adobe referes to as the Data Visualization Component, it is also available as a separate download which can be unzipped into the same directory as the Flex SDK -- the library is available here [http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=flex3sdk]
I must say I am also confused, because as far I can tell data visualization component is not included in 3.3, but SAP makes no mention of this. Hopefully someone else can enlighten us on this issue?

How can I create a PDF with embedded fonts (not a subset of the font) from Excel?

I need to create PDF's from Excel spreadsheets. The PDF needs to have embedded fonts but every time I create one it only has a subset of the embedded font. I have tried setting preferences in the Acrobat add in (unchecked the "Subset Embedded Fonts" option and also tried with the Subset Embedded Fonts checked but the percentage set to only 1% in an attempt to force full font to be embedded.)
I also tried opening the resulting PDF with Acrobat Pro XI but could not figure out how to add the font in.
A method to accomplish the results from either tool would be great.

Unless you can add those fonts to your system via the Font book and then substitute them in iPhoto, you'll have to either user the available fonts or create your own pages, 8.5 x 11, in an image editor like Photoshop Elements and use them on pages that are one photo per page. Other's have done that with some success.
If you has PS or PSE create an 8.5 x 11" canvas at 300 dpi. Then you can add your photos, add text (if PS can use the text), and create your own layout.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Displaying PDF in Flex/Flash

Is there a way to display a PDF document within a Flex
application without launching the Adobe Acrobat Reader? Just
thought...Adobe...PDF...

AFAIK, there is no PDF solution for Flash. Macromedia was a
recent acquisition by Adobe and I don't think they've had time to
integrate the technologies. Rumour has it that there'll be a
combined PDF/Flash viewer at some point, but who knows...

Flash not running

Can some one help me
I have a flash head and it runs ok in the template but will
not run on the individual pages. This is when I test it. The flash

If you are the author of the pages there are several ways,
but I think the most popular is called SWFObject. Search these (and

I just got in 6 UC220 M3 servers with the new Flexi flash option.
There is documentation out from cisco that states to use Flexi Fash to store your vmware boot files.
Here are the documents that I have reviewed on the cisco web site.

NIC on Ultra 10 with Solaris 10 not running

Hi,
I have a couple of Old Ultra 10's. I've installed Solaris 10 on both of them. I tried to give them a point to point connectivity using a Cross-over cable. But, when I do a ifconfig -a on both of them, I get it as
<UP, BROADCAST, MULTICAST> MTU ...... if you noticed here, I did not get them as RUNNIING. I have given them private IP's 192.168.1.1 and .2 and they are both on 255.255.255.0. I have them both plumbed and up with the above IP and netmasks. but they do not ping each other. I wonder where I am wrong. Can somebody gimme a insight into this, as to what has to be done to rectify this problem. One of them had the MTU value as 8232 and the other one at 1500 so, I gave the one with 8232
# ifconfig hme0 mtu 1500
1. Are the IPs correct ?
2. Are the net mask values set right ?
3. Should any of the files need to be updated?
4. what about the /etc/defaultrouter does this have to do anything with the servers not pinging each other ?
5. Does the NIC driver need an update for Solaris 10 ? If so can you pls specify the link for me to download ?

I've had tremendous trouble in the past with making crossover ethernet cables function properly on some Ultra 10 machines. As far as I'm aware, it should have the same hardware as other Sun models, but that's the only one I've had real problems with.
I've had several jumpstart setups that failed until I was able to bring in a hub or switch instead of working them back-to-back.
So no direct help from me, I'm afraid. But it could just be the hardware. Use 'kstat' (or the ndd method) to check if the link is up. No link, no traffic. Until that happens your questions 1-4 are irrelevant. Question 5 is a good one, but no, Solaris 10 would include the hardware drivers. And for equipment as old as the Ultra 10, I'm guessing there haven't been many recent updates.

Sometime Applescript is a bit like magic - you need the right incantation. I have several scripts that are fired by Mail rules, and am posting below the skeleton I use. I store the scripts in ~/Library/Scripts/Applications/Mail. I don't know if this is a requirement, but it does have the advantage of being able to run them as well from the script menu. To run them from the script menu they need the on run handler; they may run without it via a rule, but having got them working with it I am reluctant to remove it.
In the rule I put "stop evaluating rules" after the "run applescript" action.

Unable to open pdf with embedded flash

Started with Adobe Reader XI (11.0.0.2)
Was running into problems in an app because the new reader version does not work the same way in regards to Find.
Downloaded the Adobe SDK (XI) and tried to open some of the documentation.
Recieved a message that I needed to install flash, did so, "Adobe Flash Plater 11 Active X" shows as installed (along with a bunch of stuff I did not want). Tried again to open the document and it still gives the same message.
What can I try now.
I am unable to change versions of Adboe Reader at this point as changing it would negate the problem I'm trying to solve in the first place.

Open PDF with Flex Mobile Project

I want to be able to read PDFs inside a Flex Mobile Project (I'm working with Flash Builder 4.6 and Android and iPad).
I've tried successfully stagewebview to load a pdf from a web server with this:

I've already tried FlexPaper, but Zine doesn't work on Flex Mobile Project.
Do you know if there is something to do this? or how can I do this?

Thanks Keith, I'll have a look at that. In addition to opening a PDF, I want to be able to encode an anchor id in to the open command to jump a specific anchor; I'd concluded that on iOS, until Adobe add decent url-scheme support, that was a no go - so I've been staring down the barrel of converting the .pdf to HTML and tidying up the inevitable issues manually. Here's hoping Print2Flash will help avoid that!
