Peephole effect problem

I was able to apply a peephole effect to a clip, but the result was not what I expected. In the resulting clip, the frame is reduced by 50% in length and width, so it occupies the lower left quarter of the viewing window. The rest of the window is black. The peephole effect fades in and out at the right time, but the peephole circle is located in the viewing window where it should be if the frame were not reduced. At the same time that the peephole image is faded in, the entire frame (in the lower left corner) fades to black. Then the opposite: peephole circle fades out and image fades back in.
What I expected was the same thing, but with the frame not reduced in size, so the effect would be just the non-peephole area fades to black, then fades back in, and the peephole area remains bright the whole time.
Does this sound like I'm doing something wrong. The clip was produced by a Sony HC3, in HDV mode.

Fixes for some transform effects problems.
- We were not animating the postLayout properties in some cases where we should have, effectively pinning the object in place. We now animate those properties whenever applyChangesPostLayout is true.
- A copy/paste error meant that we did not animate the scaleZ property in cases where we should have.
- A problem in the transform code means that using a null transform center is not the same as a transform center which uses the transformX/Y/Z properties of the target object. We now force the creation/use of a transform center in all cases to avoid that problem.
QE notes: This breaks about a dozen tests in the transform effects area, but I believe the new results are correct and the tests/bitmaps should be changed.

Peephole effect bug-- can't save project

I'm using iMovie HD 6.0.3 on both a PPC G4 and an Intel Mac. The video effect Peephole is giving me fits. The preview and settings are really buggy, but even if I manage to apply the effect in an acceptable manner the project won't save. It just shows the Saving progress bar indefinitely. I found some old posts about this but didn't find any solutions and can't reply to them as they're archives. Anyone know anything about this?

Sometimes permissions and preferences can get corrupted. Whenever iMovie starts acting funny, a common maintenance procedure is to do the following: Delete preferences by closing iMovie and trashing the file com.apple.iMovie.plist found in User (the House icon)/Library/Preferences. Then do a permissions repair using the Utilities/Disk Utility App on your Mac. Open the Disk Utilities window and select the Mac hard drive icon at the top of the side pane at the left. Then click on the Repair Permissions button. When you have repaired permissions and deleted preferences, restart your computer and launch iMovie. iMovie will replace the .plist file that you deleted. Be sure also that you have sufficient free disk space on your hard drive for iMovie to function correctly. 25GB often is recommended by users of this forum. After doing all of the above, relaunch iMovie and see whether you still have the problem.

Adobe After Effects Problems

I edited a sequence in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 with no problems. After I exported it, I checked the movie in Windows media player to make sure everything was okay. In Windows Media Player, the movie played well with audio and video. After that, I imported it into Adobe After Effects. The Movie is 1280x720 60fps. However, after I did a RAM preview of the clip, there was still no audio. I doubled checked the clip outside of After Effects and it played with audio just fine. Is there something wrong with the way I originally exported it or is it a software error? Also, when I imported the movie into After Effects, it played in Slow-motion after RAM preview instead of playing in regular motion. Can someone please help? Thanks.

I think that you're clicking the wrong button and not, in fact, using RAM preview. The Play button in the Preview panel does not start a RAM preview.

Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Effects Problem - HELP

I use Adobe Premiere Elements 11, and when I use effects the footage ends up speeding up, repeating itself, and just not staying the same as it originally was. Does this have to do with what type of footage it is. I am using screen-captures that I got when using Bandicam. If anyone could help me with this problem, it would be greatly appriciated, thanks.

I use an older file conversion program, DigitalMedia Converter 2.7, but it is NOT freeware. Also, Deskshare, the publisher, has released newer versions.

InDesign Transparency Effects - Problems with Image Quality and File Size

Hello,
We are experiencing new problems exporting InDesign files to PDF.
To summarize, though our largest workflow is to create files for offset printing, we also deliver our work to PDF for mounting on a website so our clients can download directly from the web. Our new problem is Transparency Effects, and creating a PDF that will both have a high quality (or resolution), and be a small file size.
We are working with multiple page documents (24 to 48 pages), and would very much like to work with InDesign Transparency Effects. However, after spending much time testing a variety of PDF types, we are finding there is a radical difference between quality and file size. I was curious if anyone has had these problems, and if there is a simple answer. InDesign is an incredible program that allows us to design on the fly with Transparency Effects, but, if we are going to experience these problems, we will have to eliminate these wonderful tools.
Can you help me or lead me to information online that will help.

Fade Effect problem in IE

hi everyone,
I'm having problems with a fade out/in transition in IE8. The area I am changing has a white background (actually there are a few nested divs that all have a white background), and the fade effect triggers on a click in the navigation area and fades everything into the body background color (dark brown) and back. The effect works fine in firefox and safari. Anyone know how to fix this problem? I want the content that is fading to maintain the white background and not fade to brown and back. you can view the page here to see whats going on.

Photo Booth Effects Problem

Hi, I have a problem with Photo Booth, when I choose the pop art effect it only displays one of the 4 colors and the rest looks yellow, any suggestions to solve this??

Photo Booth Effect Problems

Hi,
Im having problems with the video effects, such as clouds, eiffel tower or dots, with photo booth. Everytime I try to set it up, the background is mixed with the actual picture/person. I think its because of similar colours, but what solutions are there to this problem?

This isn't a bug at all, folks.
What photo booth does is take a picture of your background without you in it. Then it overlays the beach picture (my fav) and, after you move back into the frame, changes only the pixels which are of a different color than your original background.
This is the same way they use blue-screens (or green) in the movie business. With the same problems.
You need to be careful about the lighting and the colors you choose. (Don't wear a white shirt in front of a white wall). Try using a sheet of a really different color. Make sure there are no ripples in the fabric. Ideally, your light source would be in front of you and a couple of feet higher to avoid shadows on your background.
It sounds complicated but once you got it setup right, it works really well!!

Quite urgent Ken Burns effect problem

I am working on a documentary (due tomorrow afternoon). This is a fulll length piece and has hundreds of photographs in it. The trouble is; all the photographs when they where imported automatically got the Ken Burns effect... I want to de-effect them. So I got to Media--Show photo settings and de-select the Ken Burns effect.
One some photographs, it works fine. But on others, I click on Show photo settings and it simply turns the screen to black, even if I select the photograph again.
This is a bit distressing as all the photographs have intense Ken Burns effect which cannot be for the final product. If I should be more detailed about what I am trying to say, please tell me. It actually is pretty urgent that I figure this out.

Have you emptied iMovie's trash? If so, you may experience a 'bug' in iMovie that will not allow you to change the settings of a clip that was imported with the KB effect. That is why you see the black screen. iMovie can no longer access the original photo's clip because it sent it to the trash. This is not a problem so long as you do not empty the trash. But, once emptied, the only way to fix it is to reimport the photo.

You were on the right track with EPM. Here's how it works:

to remove all

Actually, since EPM allows page links as well as Panel
triggers, you can do
your whole menu bar in EPM using real triggers and you would
then have all
the benefits of state management for those links. That is,
when you click
the "Menu of Products" link to expand the elevator, the link
would adapt an
open state style class.

Photo Booth Comic Book Effect Problem

Well I write this because I think I've got a problem with Photo Booth's comic book effect... Thing is that when I use this effect before the picture is taken it all looks good... but after I take the picture it looks horrible, like too white... not like a normal comic book effect pic (I've seen my friends' pictures using this effect and they look good) I've tried using "shift+enter" to prevent the screen from flashing but it doesn't change the bad quality of the effect...
Does anybody know why this is happening?

Thank you for your response... but I've already thought about my clothes' color or background color or even light... if it's too bright or too dim... but nothing seems to fix the bad effect... I've tried bright light, not so bright, incandescent, fluorescent, light colored clothes, dark clothes! nothing helps, I've repaired permissions, I think I've even "uninstalled" photobooth and then got it back from the CD... it is just defective... I kinda hate this cause comic book effect is one of my favorites!... I wish someone else could help... I know I'm not the only one with this kind of prob cause I read this very same problem on yahoo answers...

Adjustment Brush Effect Problem

I notice that when I move the adjustment brush around curves the effect doesn't follow my pattern but takes sharp straight angles from the start to the finish. For instance if I'm changing exposure in a U-shaped pattern I get the effect in a V-shape from the start to the tip of the "U" and back to the end. Sometimes it will just take the shortcut from the start to the finish and not follow the pattern I laid down. The only way to get what I want is to move very slowly. Way too slow for an effective workflow.
Any idea what would cause this?

I'd guess that it is simply a very intensive task, and that it needs further fine tuning.
MMV, but for me the brush is just too unresponsive, sluggish and fussy for time limited professional work at this time. If you take it very slow and aren't in any hurry anyway, it may be satisfactory.
There are a lot of posts on this issue, so I hope it is one Adobe will be addressing soon. By the way, the brush behaved much the same in the beta version, so I suspect the LR team has had problems optimizing this feature, but had a marketing timeline to meet and released it in less than optimal readiness..

Keynote 09 (with OS 10.6) rotation effect problem

My Keynote 5.0.3 (iWork 09), with 10.6.2 (or with 10.6.1) does not allow me to use the rotate action effect (in Builds). When I select an image and choose Builds > Action > Rotate, a grey window appears in which one could insert another image. The angle popup does not appear, and neither does the clockwise/counterclockwise popup. I am given a fading effect, not rotation!
Rotation worked perfectly in iWork 08, which I fortunately have not trashed. What is even more surprising is that when I chose the effect for one image in iWork 08, then opened the file in iWork 09, the actual rotation popup menu is shown for that image, but remains impossible for any other object.
Anyone with the same problem?

I have installed Keynote in two computers, my home MacBook and my work iMac. Both have the same problem.
This might have something to do with the Finnish version though - a colleague at a Finnish discussion forum was also unable to find the '08 type Rotate menu. I'll try reinstalling with another language.
