Pekwm dynamic menus bug - any workaround?

I've run into a pekwm bug that's present in both the version in [extra] and the git version, and is basically a showstopper: entries in dynamic menus, generated like this
Entry { Actions = "Dynamic /directory/to/script" }
become unselectable after the first time their parent menu is opened. In other words, each submenu of a dynamic menu can only be used once; after that the main menu must be closed and called again. This is a pretty big pain in the neck.
I've tried, as a workaround, creating a menu that would refresh only when pekwm gets reloaded, as is done in the default menu for virtual desktops:
Submenu = "Applications" { COMMAND = "/path/to/menu/generator" }
But that doesn't work; it simply doesn't produce a menu. How can I work around this obnoxious bug? Is there any way to get menu-refresh-on-reload working?

Insert streaming flv bug - any workaround?

If inserting an flv and choosing Streaming Video, the Server URI field doesn't accept much of anything without throwing the foolowing error:
"Please enter valid server URI in the form of rtmp://myserver/myapp/myinstance"
In fact, the above "myserever" URI is the only one it accepts?!
I know I can code this by hand, but the reason for wanting to find a workaround for this bug and be able to use a VALID URI is that the auto-sensing of width/height is very handy.
Any ideas anyone?

As this works without problems for me, I can only suggest that you may have a 'bad' installation, or that you are doing something wrong. Have you tried following the info on inserting/preparing flv for streaming, at - http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Using/WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f693f21-7c9 ea.html, or http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/learning_guide/video/.

XML Export Bug - Any workarounds?

Before we go any further, I am running 5.0.3 and I HAVE created a bug report, but since I'm not expecting a new release (bug fix) in the next couple of days/weeks I was hoping the community here might have a workaround or know if there is something I am doing to cause this.
I'm creating a new project with DSLR 1080p/25 settings. I've also tried other 1080p/25 settings and it makes no difference.
I import lots of DSLR 1080p/25 footage (from Canon DSLRs) and several audio only files from a Zoom, recorded at 48Khz. All footage shows in the project correctly (1080p/25) and the footage shows at 48Khz. So far so good.
Drop the footage and audio on to a sequence and export to XML and send to PluralEyes.
Now, I've been using PluralEyes with FCP for a while and it's an excellent product - I really can't recommend it enough, and their tech support is also 1st class. So, with this in mind, it was rather odd that the version for Premiere Pro wasn't syncing as well as the FCP version. Following a few emails back and forth with Singular Software (PluralEyes) it turns out that some of the files (the audio files) are being exported to the XML file incorrectly. They are being exported with a rate of 29.97 and not 25. Not only is the frame rate incorrect, but the duration is set to match 29.97 and not 25.
Here are some extracts from the XML:

I am wondering if there is anything I could have done to cause this, maybe in the way I imported files or created projects / sequences etc, or if anyone knows of any work around to force PP to correctly interpret these files?

The Interpret Footage Option is disabled....

.rotation on Video() only works on videos smaller than 5mb. Bug, any workarounds?

UPDATE: Found some reliable reproduction on my end.
Shorter videos tend to rotate just fine, longer videos tend to not rotate but become parallelograms. All on one build. Is there perhaps some metadata tags I need to add to my videos?
UPDATE: Found more reliable repro.
.mp4 files smaller than 5mb have no problem rotating, .mp4 files over 5mb do not rotate, they only skew.
Using standard netstream/netconnection/video setup for streaming video, any mp4 files over 5mb will not rotate when using video.rotation
Videos larger than 5mb skew by the number of degrees you specify, but not rotate.
Videos smaller than 5mb rotate by the number of degrees, and do not skew
100% reproducable on my end: Win 7 x64, Flash Pro CS6 (12.0.2.529), testing on PC and several android devices of varying make/model.
Questions:
-Is this air for android specific?
-Is there a workaround?
-Does this happen on screen rotate too? (It happens when rotating the entire swf, when rotating the parent, and when rotating the parent's parent.)
-Does this happen with older versions of Air for Android, and/or actionscript?

This has been very problematic for me.
When I try to use video.rotation = 90; in code, rather than rotating the video 90 degrees, it disappears. But this only happens sometimes when I publish. I can make zero changes, clear publish cache, and sometimes it is broken like this, sometimes it isn't and works perfectly fine. I can't figure out what is changing to make it compile differently. I've tried in all render modes (publishing to Android, so: Direct, CPU, GPU, Auto) with no changes in this specific behavior.
I've tried putting the video inside of a movieclip, and rotating the movieclip only, and it still occurs.
I've tried directly copy/pasting another successfully rotating item's code to video, same problem still occurs.
I've tried re-ordering it, and putting rotation before and after x/y/w/h changes, removing x/y/w/h changes, same problem.
Restarting my computer usually fixes the problem for 1-2 solid publishes before it starts happening again.
The code is located towards the bottom of this post.
I've tried changing the rotation to 45, and I figured out how the video disappears, but not why. video rotation goes from rotating the whole video, to only moving the right-most points, and creates a parallelogram.
(Height and Width are pre-established variables, with values partaining to the overall container size, which is not always 768*432 ratio)

video.width = Height;
video.height = video.width/768*432;
video.rotation=90;
Please tell me I am just missing something incredibly simple here, and that this is not a bug.

Ugliest bug: under some conditions app crashes when activated from push notification. Any workaround?

I encountered the following serious bug.
Steps to reproduce:
- start the app which uses "Fast App Resume" mode
- block the phone.
- ensure the app is tombstoned. This can be done by using "Tombstone upon deactivation" VS option.
- send the toast notification to the app.
- Open the app from toast. >>>> the app either CRASHES or stays on the same page, without proper navigation. Both outcomes are unacceptable.

It contains two projects, both are nothing more than msdn samples with smallest modifications:
- fast app resume sample
- push notifications sample.
To reproduce:
- start fast app resume project under debug with "tombstone" option
- copy the push uri
- start the "send push" sample. Paste PUSH uri and send the push notification.
- tap on the notification ==>> either crash or no navigation.
Well, I believe this is a very serious issue and must be fixed ASAP.
Any workaround for now?

I downloaded your zip file and there are projects all over the place. If you want us to look into this, please label projects nicely, place them where I can figure out which one goes where, and then give me easy to follow instructions to reproduce
the problem.

Today I ALMOST finalized my delete-recon (is for AD objects, but I think it may work in many contexts). As the pals said, you have to use the createDeleteReconciliationEvent method from the operations API.
I had a big problem: I spent a day looking for a NullPointerException that was raised just when this method is called. I realized that there is not a problem itself, the exception was raised because I was launching from the Eclipse project! So, instead of develop all the stuff and then pass it to OIM, I had to maje the jar, put it into the ScheduleTask folder, and execute it with the Task Scheduler from the Design Console, or from the Admin Console.
For a brief:
1) make a class that extends com.thortech.xl.scheduler.tasks.SchedulerBaseTask
2) implement the execute() method
3) for creating the operator, you can call (tcReconciliationOperationsIntf)getUtility("Thor.API.Operations.tcReconciliationOperationsIntf") (getUility is inherited from SchedulerBaseTask)
4) Make some Map object, with key/value pairs. Keys have to be the same as they appear in the Reconciliation Fields of the Resource Object, and at least you have to put the required ones. Call the method, the first parameter is a String with the RO ("Xellerate User", "AD User", "Exchange", etc).
For example, you can make something like this:
               HashMap hm = new HashMap();
               hm.put("User ID", "drldap");
               hm.put("objectGUID", "12345679");
               try {
                    reconOps.createDeleteReconciliationEvent("AD User", hm);
               catch(Exception e) {

More info needed on BC Dynamic menus and using CSS with them

Hi all,
The BC Gurus tutorial on Dynamic Menus and how to style them with CSS made no sense to me, unfortunately. The presentation was too rushed and the screen too small to see what was happening.
In a previous question I found out how to apply CSS classes to BC menus after a bit of a run around.
I was putting the # in front of the Item ID name and a . in front of the class name and this was not necessary.
I have further questions though, as I am still struggling to get a BC Dynamic menu to style properly with the CSS I have created.
1. If you choose CSS as the menu type, can you set the font, background colour and rollover state of the menu items in the Dynamic menu section? Or do you have to style it all in the CSS stylesheet?
2. If you choose CSS as the menu type, the option to say how the submenu sits under the root menu disappears. So do you need to set this in the CSS stylesheet? And if so in which element? UL or LI?
3. If you choose CSS/HTML only, how is this different to the option of CSS for the dynamic menu?
4. If you choose CSS as the menu type and if you set a width and height in the menu item, and then set a different width and height in the CSS stylesheet, which width and height wins?
5. If you want a dynamic menu to show on an Android phone, do you have to choose CSS/HTML only and do all the styling in the CSS stylesheet? Or should you avoid dynamic menus all together and just use a UL list in the template? (I am doing a responsive fluid grid layout in DW for the template).
6. I am finding that the dynamic menu I have done, with CSS as the type, does not show and hide the sub menu items properly on an Android phone. Is there a problem with the javascript in Dynamic menus?

.pacnew files are only created if you have modified the default (or a change has been made to the config upstream); in both cases, you should be looking to incorporate the changes.
It seems some new options are being shipped with lxdm: you want those in your config (turning them on or off is a matter for you and the man page to sort out)...

How to build dynamic menus using JSP==Urgent==Please Help me

which tells how to build Dynmic menus in JSP.I dont want
to use DHTML as this becomes complex as the menu categories
are built using data from database.Is there any workaround in
java to do this without DHTML or atleast sample code.

Fixed a bug that caused an exception such as the following, when opening an Environment in read-only mode. This occurred under certain circumstances when a clean shutdown (final checkpoint) was not performed when the Environment was last used by a read-write process.
I have below 2 questions:
1) I want to know if there's any workaround to this problem without having to upgrade BDB-JE.
2) Just want to make sure we will not have data compatible issue if we have to upgrade to the latest version

This is a transient problem when opening in read-only mode. It does not cause corruption or a compatibility issue.
If you open the environment read-write and perform a normal shutdown (Environment.close), then it should be possible to open the environment read-only again.
However, it is possible that it could happen again if the read-write process exits without calling Environment.close. The only way to guarantee it won't happen again is to always call Environment.close in the read-write process before opening it read-only, or upgrade to the latest version of JE 5.

Any workarounds for the X11 apps segmentation faults on intel with 10.4.8 ?

We've an X11 application, compiled for PPC, which runs fine with a G5 iMac on 10.4.8. However, it crashes with a segmentation fault on a MacBook Pro with 10.4.8 (running through Rosetta).
Searching the web, we found that this seems to be a widespread problem for X11 apps running on Intel Macs with 10.4.8.
Has this been submitted as an important bug to Apple?
Are there any workarounds for it?
Is the problem specific to PPC-only builds, or does it also happen with Universal builds?

A powerpc-binary program running under Rosetta can only load powerpc-binary modules...can't cross in and out of emulation within a single process. Perhaps your program is trying to load a module from X11 that is present as an intel-only binary? Rosetta is certainly no future-looking cure-all, just a stop-gap to allow one to keep using older stuff, and it is kinda fragile sometimes. If your target audience is both powerpc and intel machines, compile as a universal binary so it's native for everyone.

Lost original assets to previously burned project, any workaround?

I lost the original assets (images) for a slideshow gallery that was on a DVD I already made in Encore. I wrongly thought that somehow it wouldn't need access to the original assets after doing the encode, that it somehow encoded everything into its own folders and files.
I DO see a .png image that correlates to each lost original asset within the Cache folder for the project, can I use that to recreate the project? Any workaround if the original files are missing? Or do I need them at all, will it work with broken links to the missing image files?
Right now, I'm in the process of re-connecting it to the timeline (which I'd also lost and thought it didn't need but I found it and I guess it needs it because I did it as an import timeline) so I'm not sure if the galleries would work anyway.
Speaking of which. what is the better way once a DVD has been successfully made to keep it for future burns WITHOUT needing access to any of the original assets?

Besides Stan's good advice, I would ask what type of re-editing you need to do. You CAN copy the .vob files from the DVD to your hard drive, then open those .vob files in Premiere to re-edit and then encode for DVD again. Of course, there will be quality loss with re-encoding the material again and maybe the video is fine and you only need to modify some menus in the DVD? If the latter, free software such as "MPEG Streamclip" can actually pull an .m2v video file and audio off your DVD, then just pop those assets right into Encore and make new menus again, should be no loss of video quality as it is not being transcoded.
The "Image" that Stan mentioned is an .ISO file, save that and use any DVD burning app to burn a disc from image later (BurnAware, ImgBurn, etc). On Windows 7, I can actually just double-click an .ISO in Explorer and the Windows Burning app opens right up.

Dynamic menus from database with URL parameters

Hello!
I'm trying to build a set of dynamic menus that would be based on data from the database. I need to have a menu item for every database row, and all the items point to the same page, but each with its own parameter in the item's URL. The URLs in the menus would look like ".../form.jspx?recordID=xx", where xx is read from the database.
Right now, I can display the menu, everything works fine, but the problem is in the PageMap section of Databindings.cpx - ADF needs to have every URL mapped to a page definition. So even if I have "form.jspx" mapped to "form_PageDef", I have to explicitly tell the server that "form.jspx?recordID=xx" is also mapped to "form_PageDef" by putting this into Databindings.cpx.
Of course, if I have to manually enter page mappings for all the record IDs that appear in the menu, it's not really a "dynamic menu" anymore. Does anyone know of a way to avoid this problem?
Can I somehow change Databindings.cpx programmatically? Can I change page mappings dynamically? Help, please? I'm very grateful for any and all info.

I'm not sure whether you'll find a solution as "Dynamic" as you are describing with dynamic entries via the DataBindings.cpx. Menu's work quite differently in JSF (See section 19.2 on dynamic menus in the developers guide). You may need to get the solution halfway.
1) Drive the menu contents / structure from the database via some backing bean. The sample application that comes with JDeveloper has a fixed menu structure via exposed beans. You'd have to adapt this to be driven off of a managed bean. This takes a bit of work, but it can be accomplished. You'll need to loop through your database records via the Iterator to build the content of your menuModel
2) Let JDeveloper create the entries in DataBindings.cpx to map the pageDef.xml file to each jspx file. (Manual). The pageDef.xml file gets interpreted during the initContext phase of the ADF Lifecycle, and the DataBindings.cpx tells this phase where to look to create the runtime version of the pageDef.xml (See developer's guide 13.2.3).
3) Manually setup your faces-config with the right outcomes.
4) have the database return the outcomes and viewIds, among other values.
5) do the appropriate thing in your JSPX to make use of this menu module backing bean.
In this case, you'll control the content and structure of the menu via the DB. However, you'd have to make sure the data in your DB matches the definitions of the jspx viewid's and outcomes.
However, there is a quite a bit of work involved to do this. I.e. db design, backing bean for menu module, disciplined co-ordination between DB and JSF, etc...

ORACLE treats empty Strings as NULL.
I am writing, rather modifying Java code to make it work with both SQLServer and Oracle. Since our code is already working for SQLServer, now I have the problem in porting to Oracle wherever I have empty strings. I used to insert empty strings into coulumns in SQLServers, the same SQLs give errors in SQL Server.
Any workaround on the DB end or in JDBC for this?

I have recently purchased a MacBook Pro and, before I did, I asked some questions to Apple about the possibility of having the software pre-installed, specifically, BootCamp and Classic, receiving the computer with a partition already made and requirements of the sort. Basically, Technical Support told me that they were not able to perform any of these tasks, although the person I have spoken to said to me that I could run PageMaker (I think he mentioned an update). After a couple of days researching, it appears that I have been misinformed. Unfortunately I have several hundreds of PageMaker files in archive, and I cannot afford to lose the ability to open them directly (I am a radical InDesign fan, I have used it since v.1.0). Does anybody know any workaround at all to run PageMaker 7 on a Intel-based Mac? Maybe some software to emulate the Classic? Maybe an upgrade or a third-party application? I cannot believe that MacOS supports Windows (in fact, I have installed Windows Vista) better than its predecessor Mac OS 9.2.2.

Well there are two ways. the best way is to have an old machine that boots OS9. If you don't have one, buy one. I found one for about $69 a few years ago I'm sure they are even cheaper now.
There is some software called SheepShaver its supposed to run Classic apps on a Mactel. With all the problems of running PM in Classic (I would never use PM for production in Classic) Its probably even worse running on SheepShaver.
Be smart get the old machine.

i created dynamic menus for my application.wen i ran my page i got this error:
SEVERE: Managedbean menuItem_General could not be created Can't get value from value binding expression: '#{resources['erms.menu.gen']}'
(erms.menu.gen is an entry in UIResources.properties)
now, i followed the exact same process as mentioned in the SRDemo application, in adfdevguide!
also double checked that
i. resource adapter is configured in faces-config.
ii.menu model and menuTreeModel are configured with thier default adapaters in faces-config.
iii.resource bundle specified in jsp page.
can sum1 plz refer
1.wat is the reason of this error? wat are the things dat shud hold true in order to run these dynamic menu? which files shud b specified where?
2. in wat order are the managedbeans created ? is it in order they apprear in faces-config file or in order they are used in the jsp page?
