PeopleTools 8.49.22 with Oracle 11gR2

Hello. We have an installation of peoplesoft using peopletools 8.49.22 with Oracle 10.2.0.4.0 on Solaris 10
Recenlty the DBAs are migrating the databases to Oracle 11.2.0.3.0. Our demo database was upgraded and they installed the Oracle Client 11.2.0.1 in our unix and windows servers.
In the peoplesoft installation I just pointed to the new oracle home. However we cannot boot the application server and process scheduler in unix and windows, they show this error:
File: SQL Access ManagerSQL error. Stmt #: 2 Error Position: 0 Return: 8097 - Oracle initialization error
In Oracle Support i found that we need to install an older oracle client (11.1.x ) in order to make it work.
I installed the 11.1.0.6 and yes both application an process scheduler boot OK, and we were able to navigate the application and send sqr, AE, cobol, etc.
BUT the problem is that our DBA team says that we MUST use the client 11.2 , and the ITIL group says that the combination of 8.49 with 11.2 is certificated in Oracle site.
So i write to all you to ask if someone in the community is using the above combination and what steps were done in order to make it work.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, I think the PATH in windows is set correct, because we substitute the variable deleting the reference to the previous version. This is how it looks:

  • 32-bit ODAC 11.2.0.2.1 Installed on Win7 X64 with Oracle 11gR2 x64

I have Visual Studio 2010 x64 installed on a Win7 x64 Enterprise system, along with Oracle Express Edition 11gR2 x64. I downloaded and installed 32-bit ODAC 11.2.0.2.1 so I could use Oracle databases with Visual Studio, along with SQL Server.
When I tried to run InstallAllOracleASPNETProviders.sql in SqlExplorer, I got an error
    D:\app\PaulK\product\11.2.0\client_1\ocijdbc11.dll: Can't load IA 32-bit .dll on a AMD 64-bit platform. Vendor code 0.
Everything was working fine before I installed ODAC 11.2.0.2.1.
I've seen references to a beta x64 version of ODAC. Where do I find it? Do I have to uninstall the 32-bit ODAC first? Will uninstalling the 32-bit ODAC fix SqlExplorer?
    Thanks.

I downloaded and installed 32-bit ODAC 11.2.0.2.1 so I could use Oracle databases with Visual Studio, along with SQL Server.Since VS is a 32-bit app (though it can run on 64-bit OS and produce 64-bit binaries), it needs 32-bit libraries, yes.
Is MS SQL Server instance a 32-bit or a 64-bit install? Perhaps both 32-bit and 64-bit clients are needed for planned setup.
D:\app\PaulK\product\11.2.0\client_1\ocijdbc11.dll: Can't load IA 32-bit .dll on a AMD 64-bit platform. Vendor code 0.It seems you are running SQL Developer on a 64-bit java machine. The 64-bit jvm obviously can't load a 32-bit dll, which I'm guessing was found via the 32-bit ODAC's PATH entry. Entry was listed first since Client/ODAC was installed last. Did you use Connection type TNS in SQL Developer? (Or Use OCI/Thick driver ticked in the database / advanced options, in Preferences.)
What's the version of SQL Developer?
Everything was working fine before I installed ODAC 11.2.0.2.1.If I'm correct in various assumptions, you have to cater for different environments/requirements.
E.g to run SQL Developer with correct set of libs.
set PATH=<path to libraries for sql developer/jvm>;<remaining PATH stuff>
    x:\some\path\here\sqldeveloper.exe
Another way could be to use Instant Client and drop required lib files (.dll) in proper location within SQL Developer home. (So that it will find proper dlls directly in "cwd" instead of searching via PATH.)
I've seen references to a beta x64 version of ODAC. Where do I find it? There are both production and beta releases.

    64-bit Windows 7
i get this error Oxc1 [nQSError:46029] Failed to load the DLL C:\OracleBI\server\Bin\nqsdbgatewayoci10g.dll. Check if 'Oracle OCI 10G' database client is installed.
i did check that i had this dll file and i do have the file. initially what i did was: 1) Install Oracle 11g R2 client 2) Install OBIEE 3) went to network/admin and made the tns entry in tnsnames.ora
i have 11g and the error is stating 10g client not installed. Could be problem.
Somewhere something fundamental is missing . I dont know why this error is coming when i even do "view data" after loading a rpd file offline in OBIEE: Administrator, Physical Pane.
    Please help.

which version of OBIEE are you using? can you try installing the oracle 11g/10g with 32-bit version and then see it should be able to connect properly. Also check the odbc.ini file where you need to define the ORACLE_HOME and TNS_Admin values properly. And check for PATH and ORACLE_HOME and TNS_Admin environment variables on windows machine using command prompt. if not then define those env variables
    Hope it helps

The pak file are genereated in "/Document Capture/Webpages/ClientAcces".
how i have to commit this files to database?.
am I missing something in configuration?. Please suggest.

It's likely that Oracle Distributed Document Capture Service (ecNetService) haven't been started as it is responsible for the pak file processing and it doesn't start automatically after install.

  • Oracle 11gR2 (preferably on RAC)

We have SAP Business Objects XI 3.1, is this version of BOBJ compatible with Oracle 11gR2(preferably on RAC), if not, what is the timeline for the compatibility.

I cold not find the required documents on PAM as suggested by the previous reply. I believe uou can find the Supported Platforms Documents under sdn -> Articels -> BusinessObjects -> choose your product with Version -> choose the Supported Platforms Document for your OS.  I would advise you to go through "supported platforms documents" for all your installed BoBJ products. What is termed PAM in SAP products (NW, etc.) is called PAR (Products Availability Reports (PARs) for products based on BoBJ products.

  • Oracle 11gR2 RAC problem with resource state

    Hi all,
I installed Oracle 11gR2 grid infrastructure with 2 nodes and I installed DB 11gR2.
    S.O: HP-UX
I actived both DB instance in each node.
For an hardware problem node 1 become unstable (continuos auto reboot).
I found that the problem was RAM.
However I note that database resource is in a particular state and i don't able to reset it.
Performing command crsctl status resource ora.orcl.db this is the result
    ora.orcl.db
1 OFFLINE UNKNOWN node1 Startup Initiated
    2 ONLINE ONLINE node2 Open
That UNKNOWN state is really abstruse.
I tryed to perform crsctl stop resource ora.orcl.db -n node1 and the result is

CRS-4000: Command Start failed, or completed with errors.
How do I do to reset that UNKNOWN state?
    Thanks in advance.
    Bye
    Alessandro

    I tryed srvctl enable instance -d orcl -i ORCL_1
    but the results is
srvctl enable instance command is not supported for configuration using server pool.
I tryed to delete service ora.orcl.db and recreate it.
    Now I have
    NAME=ora.orcl.db
    TYPE=ora.database.type
    TARGET=ONLINE , ONLINE
    STATE=UNKNOWN on node1, OFFLINE
So Targets are both ONLINE, but if I write crsctl start resource ora.orcl.db

The problem is the the next selection which is "Specify Oracle ASM Disk Group Resources" which does NOT list any asm-dg-rg or asm-dg-fra or anything, instead, it throws error "No existing disk-group resources available for selection. Run ASM subwizard create new resource(s) and come back to this panel for the selection."
Kindly guide me to create Resources for Oracle Real Application Clusters Database Instances either in CLI or clsetup

Solaris Cluster 3.3 u1 solved the issue.
The problem right now I am facing is IPMP on the public interface.
When I remove the cable on the bge0, the ip on bge0 and the SCAN IP's are plumbed to bge1 which is in sc_ipmp0, but NOT the virtual IP!!! and the listeners on both nodes go offiline!!!

According to Oracle 11gr2 documentation, we need Sun Solaris 10, upgrade 6 or higher for Oracle 11g2.
The filesystem we are using is VxFS, Veritas File System.
According to our system administrator, we had issues , making Sun Solar 10, upgrade 8 , work with the VxFS filesystem.
I was wondering if anybody is running Oracle 11g2 on Sun Solaris 10 upgrade 6 or higher with VxFS file system.
At present, our Oracle db upgrade project is on a hold, because of the above issue. So your help on this , can really help us in figuring out if there is an issue between VxFS filesystem and Sun Solaris 10 OS.
    Thanks
    Ashish

    Hi Ashish,
We are not running Veritas Cluster file system.
We tried moving our Oracle 10g r2 db on ZFS ,before doing the upgrade and performance on ZFS was worst.
ZFS has certain memory parameter setting. If you did not configure that then ZFS will eat your complete system memory.
My system administrator, has gotten a copy of Solaris 10 upgrade 9 and will try that with VxFS.
I was curious to find out if folks are running Oracle 11g on Sun Solaris 10 with VxFS file system and if they had experienced any issue. If you can Install Vxfs on Oracle Soalris 10 U9, then according to me there sholudn't be any limitations for an oracle database.
Recently i installed Oracle database 11.2.0.2 on one of my test server. I have created two databases - one on ZFS and another on ASM.
    Refer:
    http://appsdbaworkshop.blogspot.com/2010/10/installation-of-11202-on-oracle-solaris.html
We dont have any performance issues. We are testing it for the performance benchmarks on both of the filesystem.
If you can Install Vxfs on Oracle Soalris 10 U9, then according to me there sholudn't be any limitations for an oracle database.

  • How to install Oracle 11gR2 Enterprise Ed. DBCA side by side with stand ed

I currently have an installation of Oracle11gR2 standard edition on linux red hat. I needed to have a side-by-side oracle 11gR2 install with enterprise edition on the same server. I installed the database components successfully. I tried running DBCA but it created the new database as standard edition even though the database was created in the new 11gR2 enterpsie edtion directory. I'm a newbie at this, but I'm assuming this is because the DBCA is the standard edition DBCA. So, my questions are: do I need to install the client components for 11gR2 enterprise edition? Will the DBCA created override the standard edition version even if I put it in the new 11gR2 enterprise edition home? Thanks in advance.

I currently have an installation of Oracle11gR2 standard edition on linux red hat. I needed to have a side-by-side oracle 11gR2 install with enterprise edition on the same serverSteps:
Copy the installer files at /tmp/database/ directory.
Note: You already have installed SE, let say the home is /u01/app/product/11.2.0/db_home1
Now create a new oracle home, let say /u01/app/product/11.2.0/db_home_ee
    Now $cd /tmp/database
    $./runInstaller ORACLE_HOME_NAME="Ora11gR2_EE"
It starts the installer, pass through all the checks and Select Database Edition, EE.
    How after the database binaries are installed correctly;
    Run
    $export ORACLE_SID=<NEW SID>
    $export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/product/11.2.0/db_home_ee
    $export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
    $dbca
