Peopletools 8.53 - Data Mover - Database setup Utility
Hello Everyone,
I have some doubts about the new parameters while creating DEMO database using Database setup utility in Data Mover. On the Database Setup- Database parameters page, few new parameters are intorduced from 8.53 I suppose. The parameters are
Appllication Server ID
Application Server Password
Web Server Password
Enable All Profiles
Set Global Password
Global Password
Could anyone please help in understanding the below parameters and what should I write against those parameters. How do we decide on that what values to provide?
The screenshot and some details is on Peopletools 8.53 Installation guide, page 416
Thanks in advance
Amit

Since the tables are not loaded in the database ( PSOPRDEFN ) , How can we decide on which user we will give for Application server .Yes, that's the dark side of such parameter in that stage, I know. I don't find it very useful neither. Just use the default one, PS, or VP1.
Also in case we want to change it later ?Sure, give a the proper right to a user, and specify it in you psappsrv.cfg.
Generally we will load all the peoplesoft tables and decide for the Application Server ID . Same we do for PTWEBSERVER IDGenerally and so far yes, but it has obviously been decided otherwise with PTools 8.53. As explained earlier andd many times across conferences and release value proposition, that's for security reason. Not all the shops/teams will now have the same default users/pwd.

How to select for Database Setup via Data Mover
install PT849+HRMS89 with MUL on REH 5.4 x64+Weblogic92+Tuxedo 91+Oracle 10g
after database instance installation manually, need to use Data Mover to import *.db file into database from windows client server.
in this step, any one can advice the setup for DEMO and SYSTEM type.
See the screen https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B50TDBQBIUW7NUZyLUpJY01zcVU/edit
PeopleTools System DataBase-->ptengs.db
PeopleSoft HRCS Database - Simplified Chinese --> hczhsa.db
PeopleSoft HRCS Database - English--> hcengs.db
if Demo selected, hcengl.db is involved, but no ptengs.db
I have tried:
1. select SYSTEM and PeopleTools Database, then import ptengs.db, Then hcengs.db and hczhsa.db.
2. Only import hcengs.db and hczhsa.db
But both are failed for there exists many database record error in the subsequent step.
Thank you very much.
AndyThe second option is the correct one, but if you already ran the 1st, then it will fail. Better to recreate the db from scratch and directly go for the 2nd option.

Peoplesoft setup - unable to launch Data Mover
Hello,

Oracle Database 11.2.0.3
Windows 7 64-bit
Oracle Linux 6.3 64-bit (on a virtual machine)
Demo database
I am doing a PeopleSoft installation for the first time. I have installed all the necessary components on my Windows machine and the Linux VM on it. I've created the demo database and when I try to launch Data Mover, I get the following error:
File: SQL Access ManagerSQL error. Stmt #: 2 Error Position: 0 Return: 12154 - ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
I do have an entry for the database in tnsnames.ora. The listener is running and I can tnsping the database. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Hello every one, I've made the installation of PeopleSoft Campus (DMO) instance and it's running right now. After that I began the installation of the SYS instance, using the same servers: Oracle Linux (database), Oracle Linux (Application Server), Windows Server (1 machine) for Installation & Crystal Reports.
I created a new database named HRMS9SYS without errors.
Now its time to work with Data Mover. The first task is to use de database Wizard.
Select target database ORACLE
database type UNICODE
character set AL32UTF8
And in the next step Peoplesoft Applications to Add
I can only see People Tools System Database US-English
¿Can someone explain why there is not PeopleSoft HRCS Database - English and PeopleSoft HRCS Database - Spanish?
Theese are the same files with wich I installed the DMO instance...Yagu,
1) Be sure the PS_APP_HOME variable is pointing to the right directory where HCM has been installed (check within ConfManager/Profile (Default)/Edit/ProcessScheduler tab).
2) Be sure you checked the "Peoplesoft HCM Database" checkbox during the application installation. Open the log file HCM_InstallLog.log in the directory where you installed the application.
You may have something like this:
CHOSEN_FEATURE_LIST=PeopleSoft HCM Demo Database
CHOSEN_INSTALL_FEATURE_LIST=PeopleSoft HCM Demo Database
CHOSEN_INSTALL_SET=
=> this means only Demo is installed and you cannot go for something else (except for Peopletools system database which you don't want).
If you have a long list of features, be sure there is something like this :
CHOSEN_FEATURE_LIST=PeopleSoft Absence Management,<...snipped for reading, this is the list of the features you checked when installing HCM...>,PeopleSoft HCM Demo Database,PeopleSoft HCM Database
CHOSEN_INSTALL_FEATURE_LIST=PeopleSoft Absence Management,<...snipped for reading, this is the list of the features you checked when installing HCM...>,PeopleSoft HCM Demo Database,PeopleSoft HCM Database
CHOSEN_INSTALL_SET=PT
I tested it, if PeopleSoft HCM Database is unchecked during installation (and consequenty not in the feature list in the logfile), there's no option to install a SYS database later on.
If this is the case, you may want to reinstall the appl in the same directory. I do not think it will hurt.

}It's a classpath problem. Either you mistyped the class name, or you don't have the class in your classpath. I think Oracle's drivers come in db12.zip or db12.jar or some such. Whatever that jar or zip file is, it has to be in your classpath, but it's not.
Or it is in your classpath, but you're in an appserver context where the classloader that the container provides for your app uses something other than the classpath variable. For instance, in tomcat, the jar file would be uder webapps/yourApplication/WEB-INF/lib I think. -
Move database from server running Oracle 11G to server running Oracle 12c
I'm trying to find out the easiest way to migrate a database from a server running Oracle 11G to a server running Oracle 12c. I have tried using RMAN's duplicate database command but have run into far too many issues when trying to setup both servers before running the duplicate command. If someone could provide some clear guidance on configuring both servers for the RMAN Duplicate command then that would be great. The other thing I have tried is performing a cold backup of all the files for the database (control files, data files, etc.). Copying them to the new server and then recreating the control file to include the correct location and names for the datafiles and redologs. After recreating the control file the database will not start up. I'm suspecting this is due to the version differences. If you can provide me clear (ie. migration for dummies) instruction for getting either of these methods to work it would be greatly appreciated. I'm also open to any other method you can think of to achieve what I'm trying to accomplish. Thanks, Paul Noyes

SQL Server: 2008 R2 SP2
Before describing my problem, I have gone via the forum, there is no view or functions inside my stored procedure
When running a particular stored procedure inside crystal report, the error " Could not continue scan with nolock due to data movement" comes once every few weeks. After I clear the query cache plan, it works again for few weeks and the problem
comes again. During these few weeks, there is no restart or query plan clearing.
If I run the stored procedure inside SSMS, where the SQL statement is copied and pasted from SQL profiler during crystal report run, there is no error.
I discovered running in SSMS and crystal report generate 2 different query plans even I copied the SQL from SQL profiler, I have actually saved the query plans. Unfortunately, this forum does not accept attachments, or otherwise I will post my query plans
here.
There is one thing I notice about the query plan is during nested loop operation, there is a warning "no join predicate". I don't use any views or UDF in the statement, nor did I use pre-1992 ANSI join syntax. However, I did use table variables.
My guess is whether this will cause " Could not continue scan with nolock due to data movement", after I clear the cache, I run crystal report again, and I look at the plan again, the "nested loop no join predicate" warning is gone.
Running this stored procedure took 1 second maximum, even when this error is popping up, it pop up within 1 second.
DBCC checkdb has been run
The same stored procedure running by crystal report in a SQL 2008 (non r2) live environment has no problems, so I am thinking this is R2 specific problems.
The "nested loop no join predicate" error SQL statment is below, no views, no udf, but table variables
INSERT @ChequeAccount
SELECT PS.PaySummaryID, PS.EmployeeID, PS.CostCentreID,
(PS.GrossPay + PS.LumpSumA + PS.LumpSumB + PS.LumpSumD+ PS.LumpSumE+ PS.ETP+ PS.PaymentsAfterTax - PS.DeductionsAfterTax
- PS.Tax- PS.ETPTax + PS.TaxRebate) * -1 AS Amount,
CGLM.GLAccountID
FROM Pay_Summary PS JOIN Input_Sheet ISH ON PS.InputSheetID = ISH.InputSheetID AND ISH.PayrollID = @binPayrollID
AND PS.PaySummaryID NOT IN (SELECT PaySummaryID FROM @ChequeAccount)
JOIN Payroll P ON P.PayrollID = ISH.PayrollID AND P.EmployerID = @binEmployerID
JOIN CustomGLFixMapping CGLM ON CGLM.EmployerID = P.EmployerID AND CustomGLFixMappingNameID = 1 AND CGLM.CostCentreID IS NULLThe error Could not continue scan with nolock due to data movement can occur when you use the NOLOCK table hint, or use the command SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ UNCOMMITTED. That is, so-called dirty reads. The error is not related to the
query plan per se, but when scanning a table, the storage engine will use an IAM scan rather than following the clustered index. If there is simultaneous activity, the storage engine may detect this and abort the operation to avoid returning incorrect data.
Or it may not detect it, and return uncommitted data or fail to return committed data.
All of these effects are transitory and they will not show up when you are alone on the system, only when there is concurrent activity in one or more of the tables in the query.
Using dirty reads is a risky business for the reasons explained above, and it takes careful analysis to understand whether you can live with the errors you can get from a particular query. The error about data movement can be handled: trap the error and
resubmit the query. But what about spurious incorrect results?
If you believe locking to be a problem, you should consider setting the database to READ_COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT
and take out all use of READ UNCOMMITTED/NOLOCK. When the database is in READ_COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT, readers read from the snapshot and only see committed data without blocking writers. This has some other effects like requiring a bigger tempdb,
and there is a risk for other types of concurrency errors, but they tend to be smaller risks.
I discovered running in SSMS and crystal report generate 2 different query plans even I copied the SQL from SQL profiler,
This is because SSMS by default runs with SET ARITHABORT ON. I discuss this in more detail in this article on my web site:
http://www.sommarskog.se/query-plan-mysteries.html
However, as I said, this problem is not related to the query plan as such, although some query plans are more susceptible to this error than others. (All plans are suscpeitble to produce incorrect results).

FORM 2100_WS_DOWNLOAD TABLES INP_DATA.Hi,
Thnaks for your reply, This is my requirement.
Here my problem is i am trying to upload the data from flatfile which contain materil number, denominator, Actual UOM, Nominator field values.
Which is the data i need to upload into MM02 and MM01, if material number is new then it has to create the material, if material is already existing it has to update the UOM values.
here i am getting data into my internal table INP_DATA, from that i am trying to upload the data to database by using job name MRP_MATERIAL_MASTER_DATA_UPLOAD with direct input program RMDATIND.
when i execute my program i am getting success message all the records writtin from flatfile to application server. and job started message.
then if i go into sm37 screen there i execute the job it is also giving active message. if i refresh it it is showing job completed message.
then i look at job log status. there i found that for existing material it is expecting material type, for new material it is giving some gravity error.
So could u help me in this it will be gr8.
Thanks & Regards,
RamNV -
Printer setup utility freezes when I try to add drivers
I have an Epson Stylus Photo RX500 all-in-one printer which worked fine until a few weeks ago. My best guess as to why it stopped working is that I let my hard drive fill up and some data got corrupted/overwritten (I've had numerous problems incuding my System Folder becoming 'unblessed' which necessitated a reinstall).
When I tried to print there were no drivers recognized. If I checked in home>library>printers I could find what appeared to be the driver (Stylus Photo RX500) but opening that would bring up a message it wasn't in my list of printers. Trying to add the printer to the list gave the message that the driver wasn't found. In the Finder the driver was listed as 372KB. In my cloned external HD the same file was listed as 408KB. Copying over the larger file to my internal didn't solve the problem.
I went to the Epson site and found a driver which was only listed for OS10.2 and a driver to Intel Macs (I have a G4 PB). I downloaded the 10.2 driver and installed it (408KB). Now when I open the printer setup utility EPSON USB is listed as an option but when I click on that the utility freezes. I've tried restarting and repairing permissions but still no go.
Yoroshiku onegaishimasu. TIA.Ohayo gozaimasu,
I saw what was available on the US site, so went to the Epson UK site, where they show one driver for OSX - PowerPC, for the RX500, it's version 1.9b versus the 1.7 on the US site. The driver is a 7.9mb download. Looking at the other English sites around the world, 1.9b seems to be the lastest OSX PPC driver.
The link is http://esupport.epson-europe.com/FileDownload.aspx?lng=en-GB&ID=19449&data=6D58D 013F2B22854B9450E1814C134D338E0C605169D8D398A3275D13F8B5BB5
Perhaps that will work better for you. -

Your Help will be very much appreciate.I am using SQL Server databaseThe error concerns these two lines:
boolean success = insertIntoDB("'" + FirstName + "','" + LastName + "','" + Email + "','" + Login + "','" + Password + "'");
statement.execute("INSERT INTO Users(user_id,FirstName,LastName,Email,Login,Password) values (" + stringtoinsert + ");");
In the first line above, you have a string which represents the VALUES which you are inserting. There are 5 values. However in the second line above this is your actual SQL execution you are specifying 6 columns of data. If the column "user_id" is an identity or auto-incrementing field in the database, just remove it from this line. If not then you need to supply the "UserID" into the VALUES.
This should fix the problem. -

Thanksm
Sai SankilisettyDear Kumar,
I have checked the datatypes of the table and datatypes of the Pageitems, both the datatypes are same.
I have created the region using the wizard based on the VO.
My custom table having only 3 columns and History Columns.Out of 3 columns PersPersonid is Primary key column and I am assigning the sequence value to the column in create method of EO as below
public void create(AttributeList attributeList) {
super.create(attributeList);
setPersPersonid(getOADBTransaction().getSequenceValue("PER_PEOPLE_S"));
//Here PER_PEOPLE_S is the Sequence
Thanks,
Sai
