Performance and wrong internal priorities

Question

Ligthroom has very good functions.
But with big databases the performance is bad or better the internal task priority is wrong:
I have a 1 1/2 year old Windows XP pc with 4 GB RAM.
For example:
I have build a small database (name it SMALL_A) with about 1.500 pictures (.jpg, .tif, .cr2) and a big database (name it BIG_B ) with about 14.000 pictures. The pictures of SMALL_A are part of BIG_B.
When opening BIG_B the lightroom.exe process uses for about three or four hours between 45% and 52%. During these three or four hours
1. when working in the library module and you want to see a picture "fit in", you are waiting about 20 to 100 seconds till lightroom shows you the picture "fit-in". You further need 30 to 80 seconds to see the picture in 1:1.
2. when your are working in the develop module and you want to save the metadata to file CTRL-S, after about 20 or 30 minutes the task starts to save the metadata. If you don't say CTRL-S, after 4 hours the task for saving the metadata starts.
3. In the meantime lightroom checks all the pictures and their metadata (lightroom database and the original files).
I think, in point 1 or 2 it is necessary, that the tasks 1 and 2 has much more priority than the task 3.
After opening BIG_B next day, lightroom uses again 3 hours for task 3. Task 1 or 2 has too less priority.
When using database SMALL_A, these problems doesn't exist.
