Performance degradation using Jolt ASP Connectivity for TUXEDO

We have a customer that uses Jolt ASP Connectivity for TUXEDO and is suffering
from a severe performance degradation over time.
Initial response times are fine (1 s.), but they tend to increase to 3 minutes
after some time (well, eh, a day or so).
Data:
- TUXEDO 7.1
- Jolt 1.2.1
- Relatively recent rolling patch installed (so no there are probably no JSH performance
issues and memory leaks as fixed in earlier patches)
The ULOG shows that during the night the JSH instances notice a timeout on behalf
of the client connection and do a forced shutdown of the client:

This happens every 10 minutes as per configuration of the JSL (-T flag).
The customer "solved" the problem for the time being by increasing the connection
pool size on the IIS web server.
However, they didn't find a "smoking gun" - no definite cause for the problem.
So, it is debatable whether their "solution" suffices.
It is my suspicion the problem might be located in the Jolt ASP classes running
on the IIS.
Maybe the connection pool somehow loses connections over time, causing subsequent
users having to queue before they get served (although an exception should be
raised if no connections are available).
However, there's no documentation on the functioning of the connection pool for
Jolt ASP.
My questions:
1) What's the algorithm used for managing connections with Jolt ASP for TUXEDO?
2) If connections are terminated by a JSH, will a new connection be established
from the web server automatically? (this is especially interesting, because the
connection policy can be configured in the JSL CLOPT, but there's no info on how
this should be handled/configured by Jolt ASP connectivity for TUXEDO)

For ASP connectivity I would suggest looking at the .Net client facility provided in Tuxedo 9.1 and later.

This is not the forum for MacBook Pro owners.
You just need to reformat the drive in Disk Utility and erase the drive and have Mac HFS.
If you did need to use NTFS then you would not want -3G but Paragon NTFS for OS X x. 10.0
Or buy something that isn't pre-formatted to Windows NT file system.
First though make sure you have backups of your system. TimeMachine being used now?

Install a larger notebook hard drive even.

My laptop is connected to company LAN on wire and I have another active wifi connection provided by a router. Can I use the wifi connection for mozilla connection and the wired for everything else? I'm on Win7.

How do I use my ethernet connection for printing on my LAN and use my Wifi on a different router and ISP to connect to the internet?

I'm in a small office, and I have to use my ethernet connection to connect to the networked copier to be able to print, but connection to which I hooked my Time Capsule is literally 20x faster when connecting to the internet.
How can I tell the computer to use the ethernet connection to print, while everything else should go through wifi?
I have been manually going back and forth changing the order in Network Preferences between ethernet and Wifi, but I'm know there must be an easier way. Thanks for your help!

A packet going to Apple is not local. It is going to 17.149.160.49 -- So it is sent to the topmost working connection to be Routed and sent to the Internet.
A packet going to a local computer or other device that is on the same subnet (has an IP address very close to the topmost IP Address of your computer) gets sent out that port as well, but is sent directly to that computer on the local subnet, since no Routing [changing of Addresses} is needed.
A packet going to a local computer or Printer or Network Attached Storage device that is not on the topmost subnet, but is on a secondary subnet such as the second network connection would be sent directly to that computer, since no Routing is needed.
I do not understand why two Routers have the same IP Address if they are not cross-connected. That makes everything very difficult when it should be simple.

Performance degradation using sql client

We have a SQL 2005 database running on a Windows 2003 Server. We recently added two new data servers and used Windows 2008 Server. We have tried R2 and non-R2, plus Windows 2003 Server, on these two new servers, and in all cases performance
is so slow as to be unacceptable. Clients access the data via a Windows 2008 Server running Terminal Services and hit a custom application. We have tried many different configurations using backup servers, test servers, Windows 7, Windows Vista,
Windows Server et. al. - oddly a very old XP client running the application against a 2003 server performs about 7 times faster than either Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows Server clients running same. We have attempted to run the client application
compiled under VS 2005, VS 2008, and VS 2010 - using .NET 2.0 to 4.0, under every configuration we can come up with. What's odd is that neither the client nor the server are taxed for resources. Memory is fine, processor time is fine, network traffic
looks normal. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for me not getting the complete picture yet although you have tried to clarify. :) Is the operating system on which SQL Server 2005 is installed still 2003?
Not as a solution, but as a test, if you move the application to the local SQL Server and test it there, how does the performance compare to running it remotely? How does this type of execution compare to running it remotely from the 2003 client verses the
2008 client?
How about if you run SSMS on the remote machine on which the application runs slowly, running the same query, is that also slow?
Use the same query for all tests and make sure that the test uses the same parameters passed to it from the application. You can check in a SQL Profiler trace to make sure of the exact query being executed from the application verses SSMS.
Is the performance problem consistent or intermittent? Does it occur with only one user in the application?

I install Windows XP on 24" iMac through BootCamp, I can get mail but no internet?? I use Hughes Satellite connection for all (4 total) desk tops computers, then use wireless APPLE WI-FI for portable devices ie, Mac Book, iPod Touch, iPad.

I installed WindowsXP, home on 24" Mac through Boot Camps, (I'm on OX10.6) everything works just fine except for getting connection on Internet Explorer, I can receive mail O.K. not sent through Outlook express, nowhere do I see the word Ethernet (which is connection I use on Mac) can anyone help?

if it can receive emails then likely dns is the issue
make sure the windows osx driver you make make in bootcamp in the osx end
and make sure the windows nic is set to use hdcp and that the router you connect to support hdcp

Using a single connection for jsp, servlets and classes

Hi! I'm building a web site that uses JSP, Servlets and some classes. I use database access in all my pages. I want to open a connection and use it for all the pages while the user is in my site, so I don't need to open a connection with every new jsp or servlet page. My software must be capable of connection with various databases, like SQLServer, Oracle, Informix, etc... so the solution must not be database (or OS or web server) dependant.
Can you help me with this? Some ideas, links, tips? I'll REALLY appreciate your help.

Try to use dynamic sql connection for additioal data for xml publisher

I understand that the xml publisher is using template to merger the xml data output (say from Oracle report).
We have some Oracle seeded report and do not wish to modify these report, but we do need to add additional data to these reports. In the past, the tool we used has the capability to make dynamic sql calls to get these additional data. Can this be achieved in xml publisher?
I did noticed that the template builder has two options for upload data source: from a data file or from a sql connection, but seems they can not be used together. Not much document I can find for this. Thank you in advance for your help.

I have the same requirement to develop AR Invoice Report in XML publisher, actually it was developed using Optio Layout.my issue is the actual AR Invoice RDF contains 20 records and it showing the 20 recodes when we run that program (concurrent program output) after that while printing this report uisng the OPTIO layout (The Optio system is fetching some more records (10 records)) it printing total 30 records. i mean here the OPTIO is handling some pl/sql code i guess..
so now how we can handle this requirement using XMLP.I am using RTF Templates with 5.6.2 v. Is it possible to do the same manner how the OPTIO was doing. Is this possible with any other Templates ?. or we need to customize the RDF itself ? .but I know that I can go ahead and modify the existing out-of-the-box report, but I do not want to do that. I do not have control over the XML that is generated since the XML is generated when the report is run. Is there any way to retrieve the extra information AFTER the xml has been generated and BEFORE the template is applied ?

Have been using FireWire 800 connection for WD MyBook Studio

Have been using firewire800 with my WD MyBook Studio primarily for Time Machine backup. May need to be replaced - if I replace with WD MyBook for Mac or something else ( perhaps Seagate) with usb2.0 will I notice a big change in time for TM? If I transfer files to another ext drive, will I notice longer time saving iTunes or iPhoto to an express drive??
Any comments or suggestions are welcome. I have always used WD but wonder if Seagate or someone else has something.

WD electronics in their external drives don't have a very good reputation, so another brand might be a good idea. I like OWC drives as many of them use Oxford chipsets as well as multiple connections like USB and Firewire (I prefer a Firewire connection). Some examples are this or this.
I use a BackPack to get my external drive off the desktop, which is a handy way to mount it.

Performance degrades using more then one Textfield

I noticed that performace in my app degrades noticeably when there is more than a Textfield on stage. I need to have two dynamic text field displayed at the same time, which is the best way to achieve this without using too much processing power?

I'm testing on the first Iphone model. Basically when the user put some information in two input field the input field disappear, the background change and some dynamic text is displayed. This happen with a fade out effect done playing with the alpha of a white bitmap. I know I shouldn't use alpha property but performance are still fine if a insert only a text field it start to slowdown only with two so I was hoping some tuning on text fields could help me to avoid this.
I just discovered that if a cache text field as Bitmaps i fix the speed issues but text changes color in a light blue, I really don't know why

I have a iPhone 5 on iOS 6.1.4 but I can use my 3G connection for FaceTime

I have a iPhone 5 and I have used FaceTime over my 3G connection in the past but all of a sudden when I try to make a FaceTime call while connected to my 3G I just get a blank screen. I have contacted my carrier (vodafone) who advised me that they support FaceTime over a 3G connection and assured me that there are no blocks or restrictions on my account at their end. I have also replaced my SIM card with a brand new one but the issue still remains.
I have tried resetting my phone and restoring it to factory setting but this hasn't solved the problem. I have a iPad 3 which is running on iOS 6.1.3 which can make FaceTime calls when connected to a 3G connection but my iPhone wont allow me is this something to do with the different iOS's my iPhone 5 is running on iOS 6.1.4.
This is really frustrating so any help would be much appreciated.

Yeah it works fine over wifi the problem is when I try to use it over my 3G. It's really stressing me out now.

Using the .asp response for a trigger in flash

Ok, so I got this flash guest book that sends the
name/message to the .asp script.
The .asp script puts the name/message nicely into a .txt
file.
How do I use the response from the .asp to trigger something
in my actionscript?

I'm not entirely sure I understood the question - but:
Assuming you're using LoadVariables in order to POST your
data to the ASP script, you can use the OnData event to detect that
the ASP script has completed and is returning it's response to your
flash app.
