Performance of subselect and innerjoins after 10g upgrade

Short Text
Long runtime exist clause in subselect
Long Text
We have started experience very long runtimes after installing Oracle
10g with the following program:
RVV50R10C
There are many different variants stored for this program. After the
Oracle upgrade the variant named: HEP_DRSHP_COMM will not run to
completion. We have observed the following about the job that makes it
unique from the other variants. It is using the “Department” field in
the selection. When the job started the following SQL statement can be
identified by using SM51 and displaying the jobs details:
SELECT
FROM
"VEPVG" T_00
WHERE
T_00 . "MANDT" = :A0 AND T_00 . "VSTEL" IN
( :A1 , :A2 , :A3 , :A4 , :A5 ) AND T_00 . "LEDAT"
BETWEEN :A6 AND :A7 AND NOT ( T_00 . "LIFSP" BETWEEN :A8 AND :A9 )
AND EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM
"VBKD" T_100 WHERE T_100 . "MANDT" = :A10 AND T_100 . "VBELN" =
T_00 . "VBELN" AND T_100 .
"ABTNR" = :A11 )
The subselect to VBKD is the source of the problem. If an execution
plan is ran against the statement the Oracle explain will show the
following:
Execution Plan
SELECT STATEMENT ( Estimated Costs = 2 , Estimated #Rows = 1 )
7 FILTER
6 NESTED LOOPS SEMI
( Estim. Costs = 2 , Estim. #Rows = 1 )
Estim. CPU-Costs = 14,773 Estim. IO-Costs = 2
3 INLIST ITERATOR
2 TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID VEPVG
( Estim. Costs = 1 , Estim. #Rows = 1 )
Estim. CPU-Costs = 11,460 Estim. IO-Costs = 1
1 INDEX RANGE SCAN VEPVG~0
( Estim. Costs = 1 , Estim. #Rows = 2 )
Search Columns: 3
Estim. CPU-Costs = 8,351 Estim. IO-Costs = 1
5 TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID VBKD
Estim. CPU-Costs = 3,313 Estim. IO-Costs = 0
4 INDEX RANGE SCAN VBKD~LOC
Search Columns: 1
Estim. CPU-Costs = 1,504 Estim. IO-Costs = 0
The use of the VBKD~LOC index is causing the poor performance. You can
review our jobs HEP_1101_DAILY, EP_1101_HOMED, HEP_1114_DAILY,
HEP_3114_DAILY which previous to the upgrade their runtime were all
less than 10 mins. These jobs fail to complete.
I would like to also ask about OSS NOTE 841280
This note does not apply to 10g but it’s description seems very
relevant. Would you recommend setting the parameter alwayssemi_join
= off in this release of Oracle. Is there some other setting? The
execution plan should reflect that VBKD~0 is selected.

Are the clients using JInitiator or their local JRE?

Mail App keeps freezing and crashing after yosemite upgrade.  Cant create new emails.  Is there a fix to these issues?

    Hi,
When I read these Threads in Yosemite I am filtered to show only the one listing Messages (the App) as the App involved.
This form of tagging a Thread no longer shows up in the current software used to run the Discussions.
Did you use the Mail and the Messages tags ?
It is difficult as many Mail help items refer to emails and "messages".
With me posting to the thread it should raise it to near the top again and maybe someone who knows about Mail will post.

I used to be able to have thousands of pictures on my phone and now after my upgrade it keeps saying "not enough storage" is there anything I can do? I don't want to buy more storage
It says I cloud total storage 5.0 GB available 5.0 GB so whats the problem?

iCloud storage is for backups. It is not associated with space on your phone. You cannot buy more space for your phone. Check what you have on your phone and delete what you don't use or seldom use to get more space on your phone.

  • Statistics gather after 10g upgrade

I am on apps 11.5.10.2, database has been recently upgraded from 9.2.0.6 to 10.2.0.4. I used to periodically use GATHER SCHEMA STATISTICS (ALL SCHEMA), in the previous release of db.
What should be practiced after the upgrade? There are some custom schemas for third party tool. Does gather schema statistics concurrent program gather statistics for all the schema?
    Thanks

To register a custom schema, I have to go thru the series of steps like registering application, creating a TOP etc., right? What if my custom application is in some other windows server and only schema is in the apps database? Do we need still follow the same steps?
    Regards,
SAI am not sure why you have this custom schema in this Apps database. If your custom schema has nothing to do with Apps, you would be better off creating a separate instance for this custom app. You could then use the automatic stats gathering mechanism in 10g to gather stats for this custom schema app.

  • Upgrading SAP ESS and MSS after HR upgrade in ECC 6.0

    Hello
I am new to SAP netweaver.
Our landscape has an ECC 6.0 system integrated with EP 7.0.
We recently upgraded our SAP HR from 600(SP 48) to 600(SP61) and EA HR component from 603(SP 22) to 603( SP 35).
After the upgrade we came to know that the portal users are facing some issues with Etime application on portal, i did a bit of searching and found that we have to upgrade SAP ESS, MSS and ERP5COM components. (http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPHCM/HOWTOGETRIDOFSPSTACKMISMATCHISSUES)
    My questions are:
    1) Can we directly apply SP's for ESS, MSS and other components as i cannot find any prerequisites required to be met before they have to applied?
2)If we have ESS SP 04 and the required version is ESS SP07, can we directly apply SP 07 or we have to first apply in a sequence SP05, SP06 and then move to SP07?
    Thanks a lot!
    Varun

    Hello,
    1) If a developer modified the ESS/MSS package, you need to ask the developer before you apply the patches. In this case, you find the "local version is modified" text in the corresponding package.
    2) Java Patches are cumulative, which means that higher Patch contains all corrections of lower Patches.([SAP Note 1249886|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1249886])

  • Versamail no show incoming mails sender's name and subject after ROM upgrade

It is unlocked GSM 680 before with rom ROW 1.04 and worked quite well. After the upgrade to R01.92 1.12ROW, the incoming emails doesn't show sender's name(address) and subjects, but email content displays correctly. Don't know if the VERSAMAIL program has lost some files or modules. Anyone can help?
Post relates to: Treo 680 (Unlocked GSM)

I see the subject of this post specifically mentions a ROM upgrade. I didn't do a ROM upgrade but I had the same exact symptom after installing CJKOS which allows Chinese, Japanese, Korean characters be displayed on my Palm Treo. The CJKOS preferences are not in English but eventually I was able to figure out if I disable that application within that app's preferences, the sender's name and subjects are now appearing. Maybe there is something the few of you are doing that is similar?

  • Performance issue after 10G upgrade.

    All,
We recently upgraded to 10G (Version:10.2.0.3.0) after which the below query causing the problem. This query is written in a pl/sql package called by a Perl program. The Perl program is running forever without completion during some attempts and sometimes it is completing very fast. We did some kind of debugging and found that everytime the program is getting stucked up at this below given query and not at all proceeding from here even if we leave it for 2 - 3 days. During a successful attempt it completes in 3 - 4 hrs. This query is taking 2 explain plan as given below and it seems one of them is best and the other one is worst. Plan 2 is best and plan 1 is worst.
Is there any suggestion in fixing this and the reason why two explain plans are picking up?....Num of records on the tables is as given below...
Can you please provide me some detailed information as i'm a beginner in these performance tuning concepts?

    All,
    </p>
    <p>
Your help will be much appreciated..

The query returns a single row, because it calculates the sum. The query could be better written to get rid of IN or NOT IN which are costly. But I just wonder why the plans/performance are so different?
I used analyze to analyze other tables and it is still working fine in 10g. Now based on the plans, do you think anything wrong ?

  • DB Performance Issues after 10g Upgrade in EBS Instance

We have upgraded our Database from 9i to 10g as first part of EBS 11.5.9 to 11.5.10.2 upgrade. Currently our production is running on 11.5.9 apps with 10g DB.
Facing performance problems now. one of the them is, one Valueset query not using funcion based index while fired from the front end. but the same query when collected from SQL trace tkprofed file and executed from SQL Plus, it uses all proper indexes. We are not getting the cause of this.
Had anyone faced same kind of issues before. please suggest.
    thanks,

  • Performance issue with form after 10g upgrade

    Hi Team,
Last week we have upgraded our systems to 10g database.
Ever since we did an upgrade there is a huge performance issues with the custom forms and this is causing a major setback to our business. Before the upgrade the forms were running with our any performance issues.
Can anyone please help me in finding out the reason behind the performance issue(May be a tar or performance tuning).
    Many Thanks in Advance.
    Regards
    Kumar

    Like Jan said,
You must supply more information so we can help you, like where the degradation happens?, in processing? in navigation? in forms loading?? where?
You may also do a little test. Create a one button form, just a canvas and a button, you can include a message in when-button-pressed trigger.
run it and see what happens.

  • No preview displayed in Aperture and Preview after Lion "upgrade"

    Hi everyone,
something (well, maybe many things) has been blown by Lion...I'm only just trying to figure out what exactly is.
Generally the system performs well but I have a big issue with previews within Aperture 3 and in Preview/Quicklook itself.
I'm testing Lion onto a late 2009 unibody macbookpro 13", 2.0 ghz, 8gb Ram; Aperture library is managed, around 100gb, all files are from Canon 30D and 350D, plus some jpegs and videos from a Powershot A620 (I didn't test the videos imported in Aperture yet, in SnowLeopard everything was fine).
In Aperture 3 (I have upgraded to 3.1.3 before installing Lion) my Canon 30D files are displayed correctly both in browser and viewer...Canon 350D files (raw images) aren't...well, the small thumbnail in the browser view is looking fine but when I double click to display the large image..it suddenly disappear! gray or black background, no image at all...back to browser view and the small thumbnail correctly display the image.
So i tried to regenerate the preview...nothing, same behaviour...if I press P for quick preview nothing is displayed, I get nothing even if I press M for master image.
Ok, I said...let's try this...I decide to export a photo, as master, onto the desktop...fine, the image icon is good, correctly displaying the image thumbnail...if I select it and press the spacebar i obtain ...absolutely nothing,a gray window that should be my image.
This happens also for the 30D files when I export them ...within Aperture they're good.
I also tried to export a version (jpeg)...all I obtain is a totally black jpeg.
Seems that Preview is not working anymore or uncapable to display any raw format, only jpegs are correctly displayed, I mean original jpeg shot.
I went through all the basic library maintenance for Aperture, repaired system permission before and after Lion installation...nothing changes.
Anyone experiencing a similar behaviour under Lion? Is Preview not working only in my system? Any suggestion?
I'm trying to find something to fix this...I have Time machine backups, Aperture vault backups so reverting back to SL is only a matter of patience and time...but I would like to stick with Lion and keep testing.
Any help or suggestion will be appreciated...I'm also searching for similiar behaviour (mostly for the problem with Preview) in the Lion OSX forum, this is heavily affecting Aperture.
    Best regards,
    Alberto

I found a solution that worked for me. Seems like my firewall did not accept the afp connection permissions anymore after installing lion... Since everything worked well turning off the firewall.
So if you don't want to keep your firewall disactivated here is what worked for me:
    - Leave your firewall activated.
    - Turn OFF afp file sharing in the sistem prefs
    - Restart your Machine
    - Turn ON afp file sharing
    - You should now get a message if you want to accept afp connections...
    - click YES
Thats it... Everything fine on my network now.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has replaced the 750GB HD with a SSD? Did it work? Better performance? What brand/size? I was simply going to get a 128GB mssd, but the M6 has a limit of 32Gb. Which 32GB is rather useless. Regards.
