    I have table A with size 120 Million and two more tables are of size 2 Million on Table B and less than 1 Million size on table C.
    I had created Partition and Parallel degree 4 on the table A. Created table B with Parallel degree 2 and Created table C with NOPARALLEL.
    My query is using above tables with joins and inserting into table D using HINT /*+ APPEND NOLOGGING*/
    I had executed the explain on the above criteria the cost is showing 20767.
    Later created Tables A,B and C with NOPARALLEL. Applied HINT on Table D /*+ APPEND NOLOGGING*/
    and als applied HINT /*+ PARALLEL(A, 4) PARALLEL(B C, 2) on select query which uses to insert into Table D.
    My question which is best practice on PARALLEL degree creation at table level or query level:
    a) Creating table with Paralle (degree 4)
    b) Applying HINT /*+ PARALLEL (TABLE A , 4) */ at query level

  • Query Performance Tunning

    Dear Experts,
    I am executing a query which is build on a Multiprovider. The execution time is approx. 12 mins, again if I enable a dimension to analyze it takes another 15 mins.
    The technical details of the query are:
    1) The multiprovider fetches data from three different Cubes.
    2) It contains three diff characteristics out of which one is having a 10 level hierarchy and one is having a 2 level hierarchy. Both the hierarchies are externally maintained.
    3) It contains KPIs which calculate the sales on diff time lines such as CM MTD,  LM MTD, CY YTD, LY YTD with the help of a customer exit.
    4) It converts the quatities in alt unit of measures through an exit.
    Kindly suggest for performance tunning. How shall i achieve min query execution time??

  • How to performance tune this query

    I need some inputs on how to do performance tuning on this query to improve performance.
    It takes around 45 secs to run. Is it possible to make any improvements in this by putting hints or writing in another way?

    As well as EXPLAIN PLAN, let us know what proportion of rows are visited by this query. It may be that it is not using a full table scan when it should (or vice versa).
    And of course we'd need to know what indexes are available, and how selective they are for the predicated you have in this query ...

  • Need help for performance tunning

    I have 16K records return by query, it takes long time to proceed for 7K it takes 7.5 sec.

    Before even starting to see why there is a performance problem, I think you should consider the fact that there is logical problem in your WHERE clause. According to what you mentioned the primary key is composed of *(c_date, iid, active)* yet iid is absent in both the global query's WHERE clause and also that of the subquery.
    Consequently the (aggregate) rows in the subquery will not be linked based on a correct logic to the external query.

  • How to do Performance tunning in OBIEE

    Hi All,
    We are using OBIEE 10.3.4 version on windows envorinment .In our OBIEE project we are using 9 reports my requriment is we need to do performance tunning for OBIEE side.For eace report accessing its taking around 80 sec.We need to decrease these accessing time,is there any possibility to access all the reports with less response time in OBIEE side.
    Could you anyone suggest how to do performance tunning in OBIEE side.

    Index Hint

    As generic advice: Absolutely not.
    The performance of PL/SQL may be irrelevant to the performance of specific SQL statements contained.
    Consider the following:
    1. A very inefficient query that runs one time and takes 2 seconds to execute.
    2. A query that runs in 2 milliseconds inside a loop.
    Which one is more likely to be the issue?
    The answer is that it depends on the number of interations of the loop.
    The proper tool for tuning PL/SQL, as discussed by Tom Kyte, are, depending on version, DBMS_PROFILER or DBMS_HPROF.
    Find out where the time is being spent.
    Then tune that which takes the most time.
    It is not necessarily the slowest SQL statement.

    What happens if you remove the join and just run the query against TABLE2?
    Try it without the join, and just fetch the first 100 records (or something) from the query and see how that performs.
    Have you optimized the index? Always worth doing after an index creation on a large table, especially as you've used the default index memory setting for the index.

  • Performance issue while generating Query

    Hi BI Gurus.
    I am facing performance issue while generating query on 0IC_C03.
    It has a variable as (from & to) for generating the report for a particular time duration.
    if the variable (from & to) fields is filled then after taking a long time it shows run time error.
    & if the query is executed without mentioning the variable(which is optional) then the data is extracted from beginning to till date. the same takes less time in execution.
    & after that the period has to be selected manually by option keep filter value. please suggest how can i solve the error

    YOUHAVE TO CHECK THE FOLLOWING RUN TIME SEGMENTS USING ST03N TCODE:
    High Database Runtime
    High OLAP Runtime
    High Frontend Runtime
    if its high Database Runtime :
    - check the aggregates or create aggregates on cube and this helps you.
    if its High OLAP Runtime :
    - check the user exits if any.
    - check the hier. are used and fetching in deep level.
    If its high frontend runtime:
    - check if a very high number of cells and formattings are transferred to the Frontend ( use "All data" to get value "No. of Cells") which cause high network and frontend (processing) runtime.
    For From and to date variables, create one more set and use it and try.

    when i created a cascading select list, For the first time it worked properly then little later

    I have a situation here where I want to pass string value(available in search field) to POP up key LOV on another page as default value.
    I passed item value in default field in POPup key LOV item.I am able to see string value but It also gave me following error.
    Error: ORA-01722: invalid number performing List of Values query: "select CUSTOMER_NAME, CUSTOMER_ID from (select customer_name, customer_id from hed_customers) wwvlovinlineviewname where CUSTOMER_ID = :WWV_LOV_RETURN_KEY_UTIL_1111".
    Without Default value, it work like champ.
    Please suggest how to get rid of this error

    I hit the same problem.
    The thing is that, in APEX, a 'null' value in a form is not really null but gets passed on as '%'.
    When that gets compared to a number, 01722 will occur.
    A workaround is to define a 'value if null' that is an implicit number, like '-1'.
    And lets hope no one ever uses that as a real ID...

I tried the following methods used merge instead of update, used bulk collect / Forall update, used ordered hint, created a temp table and upadated the target table using the same. The methods which I used did not improve any performance. The data count which is updated in the target table is 2 million records and the target table has 15 million records.
    Any suggestions or solutions for improving performance are appreciated

Database people tend to get upset when rows are called records, as records exist in files and a database is not a mere collection of records and files.
    The failure to find a single faster method with the approaches you tried, points to that you do not know what the actual performance problem is. And without knowing the problem, you still went ahead, guns blazing.
    The very first step in dealing with any software engineering problem, is to identify the problem. Seeing the symptoms (slow performance) is still a long way from problem identification.
    Part of identifying the performance problem, is understanding the workload. Just what does the code task the database to do?
    From your comments, it needs to find 2 million rows from 15 million rows. Change these rows. And then write 2 million rows back to disk.
    That is not a small workload. Simple example. Let's say that the 2 million row find is 1ms/row and the 2 million row write is also 1ms/row. This means a 66 minute workload. Due to the number of rows, an increase in time/row either way, will potentially have 2 million fold impact.
    So where is the performance problem? Time spend finding the 2 million rows (where other tables need to be read, indexes used, etc)? Time spend writing the 2 million rows (where triggers and indexes need to be fired and maintained)? Both?
