Performing an HTTP post

I am new to Java, and I am trying to automatically transfer HTML files that are created on a Sun Unix server to a Web server running M.S. IIS.
I am using SAS(Statistical Analysis Software) to create the HTML files using one of their output applications.
Is there any easy way to do this?
Basically I just want to take the HTML object on the Unix server and transfer that same object to the Web server saving over the file with the same name. I need to be able to do this automatically when a new HTML file is created on the Unix server; the purpose of wanting to do this is so that I will not have to keep manually transferring the files myself.
I was told this could be done doing an "HTTP POST", but I am not 100% sure what that entails.
I am avoiding XML at the moment since the HTML files are being created by the SAS software.
Thanks

To do a HTTP POST request, you do something like this (pseudocode):
URL url = new URL("http://www.myserver.com/something.cgi");
HttpURLConnection connection = url.openConnection();
connection.setRequestMethod("POST");
connection.connect();
OutputStream dataStream = connection.getOutputStream();
// now you write your post data to the dataStream...

  • HTTP Post WSDL in J2EE/HOME ?

    A customer created a BPEL process which has a partner-link defined for a WSDL located in the same directory as the project's bpel.xml file. The partner-link is to perform a http post using http binding. (basically the WSDL points to a deployed Servlet)
    When the process is initiated via the BPEL Console an error in the domain.log occurs stating that the WSDL cannot be found in j2ee/home.
    The customer can use "wsdlLocation" and "wsdlRuntimeLocation" in bpel.xml, to work past the error but why are we searching for the WSDL in j2ee/home ?
    The error:
    <summary>Failed to read wsdl. Error happened when reading wsdl at
    "HTTPPostService.wsdl", because "WSDLException: faultCode=PARSER_ERROR: Error
    reading file at: file:/D:/AS/ORA10122MID/j2ee/home/HTTPPostService.wsdl:

    file specified)". Make sure wsdl exists at that URL and is valid. </summary>

    this sounds strange, and I never heard of it ..
    can you get us a step by step tutorial to see if our support can reproduce this ..

  • Using SSL Module to Encrypt HTTP post to external Server

    I would like to know if it's possible for a CSM with its SSL module to receive an HTTP POST from our internal web servers, encrypt that POST w/ SSL, and finally to forward the newly created SSL transmission to a remote external SSL server? If it is possible, is this good practice or is it better to let the web server do the encryption?

    this is possible.
    It is good practice if you do not want to overload your server with the heavy task of encryption/decryption.
    If your server is very powerfull and far from being used to its maximum capacity, you can do it on the server.
    Another advantage of using an SSL module is that the CSM will see your request in clear text and can therefore perform so *smart* loadbalancing before it gets encrypted by the SSL module.
    [ie: cookie stickyness, url hashing, ...]

  • Simple HTTP Post Handler - Best Practice?

    I would like to create a fairly simple ASP.Net application that takes an XML record from an HTTP post request, submits it to a process that invokes a command line app that parses the XML file, takes the parsed XML file (as XML), and returns the result.
    For now the process can be synchronous as the transform has to complete and there are no parallel activities that need to be performed.
    I'm not sure that writing an HTTP Handler is the way to go, but maybe I'm mistaken.  Plus there are no examples of doing that in Visual Studio 2013 using IIS 8.0 or 8.5 and I don't really understand the value of applying a file extension or processing
    an HTTP post to initiate the request, perhaps using a dedicated port.  I already have a class library for handling the process request.
    I'm also a little confused about reading the post request - it seems I can just do it during the page load and that I should be able to extract the first request form field - that of course means using a webform to process the request which seems to be the
    most straight-forward way to do this. So I'm looking for the best practice for fielding this kind of request.  My target server is Windows 2012, but I'm developing with VS 2013 and C# on Windows 7 using IIS Express and configuring IIS is confusing.
    Overall it is a fairly simple app, but there are so many rich new features in VS 2013 (most of my work has been in VS 2005).  I also want to build a test app and am looking for the best way to do so, although I think I can build a simple client app
    to do that.  The business requirements will be to issue the post request from a MarkLogic xquery request which will take care of any JSON wrappers and balance between multiple Windows servers to handle the load.
    Thanks for any help with this!

    Hi Tim,
    Thank you for posting in the MSDN forum.
    Actually this forum is to discuss the VS IDE, if this issue is related to web development, you could ask this question in the ASP.NET forum:
    http://forums.asp.net. If then, you could get an answer more quickly and professional. Thanks for your cooperation.

  • Java and Http posting through Peoplesoft.

    Hello everyone, not sure if you can help, but any input or ideas would be appreciated because I ran out of ideas.
    I created a java file that connects to a xyhtos server (WebDAV connection). The reason of this project is to be able to upload files to the xythos repository via peoplesoft pages. Uploading the files is fine and works great.
    My problem is getting a ticket from it. (A ticket is a string that is appended in the url of the document that is being requested without having the user login to xythos). To get such ticket I need to send login information to the server via a post method. The userid/password needs to be sent through a string that is base64Encode.
    When I execute this method the xythos server does not receive login information.
    Now here is the strange part, if I execute the same Java program from a Unix command line, with the same parameters, it performs beautifully.
    I'm wondering if there is something extra that I need to do when running this java program through PIA. Or if the peoplesoft server needs to be configured a certain way to allow such methods.
    If you need me to be more specific or anything that could help you help me, please post. I'm desperate.
    Thank you.

    HI Jim, thank you for replying.
    Unfortunately I can't tell exactly how it's posting because I'm using a package created by another department I work with. If I need to upload a file, delete a file, create directories, all of that is fine. The only trouble is requesting a ticket from xythos. I think for that function it is doing an http post, but not positive. The response I get from the server is
    <html><title>Error 401</title><body>
    Error: 401
    <BR><H1>Forbidden</H1><BR>That action is not authorized. Please ensure that you are authenticated.<BR>
    <p><p></p></p>
    </body></html>
    I just don't understand why through the command line of unix it works and PIA it doesn't. Very strange.

  • Http posts

    I am developing a LabView interface to insert data into a database with mySQL. I have used the the "example_http_protocols.llb" (the POST vi) as an example which is very good. I have been able to insert data into one column of my database table but I have not been able to add data to all the columns. The mySQL statements are correct since I can update all the columns of my table via a webpage. In the "example_http_protocols.llb", one textbox is used that is named "cccc". What would I need to do if I had two textboxes that needed filled before submitting? If I perform two separate posts, I have two separate insertions into my table. I may be able to change  my php and SQL code, but I'm hoping there's an easy fix. (not buying the toolkit)

    Thanks for the tips. I found an error in my http message. Now everything works fine. In this project I have a website that a user can manually enter and manipulate data in the database as well as having LabView directly update the database. The website posts to a php script that contains mySQL code. My LabView code posts to the php script as well. With how little LabView code it actually takes, I don't know why you would do it differently, unless you wanted an easy way to query the database through LabView. In my case a website works best since not everyone accessing the database will have LabView.

  • Need Help on HTTP Post ?

    Hi @,
    I need to perform HTTP Post from webdypro application some XML data. How can I do this , I tried searching forums and blogs but couldn't find a suitable solution or Help.
    Is it possible or will have to go for any external apis to achieve the same?
    Regards

    Hi,
    This is possible - though not directly with Exit Plug of Interface View Controller.
    You need to use Suspend plug to pass parameters with http POST. See this thread and this document for further directions.
    From thread above, Replace
    Map postParams = new HashMap();
    postParams.put("Key1", "Value 1");
    postParams.put("Key2", "Value2");
    postParams.put("Key3", "Value 3");
    wdThis.wdGetWDSuspendResumeWindowController().wdFirePlugTestSupend("http://www.sap.com", postParams);
    with
    WDDeployableObjectPart deployableObjectPart = WDDeployableObject.getDeployableObjectPart(deployableObjectName, "TargetApp", DDeployableObjectPartType.APPLICATION);
    String urlToTargetApp = WDURLGenerator.getApplicationURL(deployableObjectPart);
    Map postParams = new HashMap();
    postParams.put("Key1", "Value1");
    postParams.put("Key2", "Value2");
    postParams.put("Key3", "Value 3");
    wdThis.wdGetStartWindowController().wdFirePlugStartAppSuspend(urlToTargetApp, postParams);
    In target application, onPlugDefault, use this code to get the values for parameters.
    String val1 = WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter().getRequestParameter("Key1");
    String val2 = WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter().getRequestParameter("Key2");
    String val3 = WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter().getRequestParameter("Key3");
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess(val1 + "   -   " + val2+ "   -   " + val3);
    I've used this and it works.
    Hope it helps.

  • Where does firefox cache the form parameters to be used in the reload event of a page that was the resposne of a HTTP POST request?

    Suppose there is form in a web page and it submits data in HTTP POST method. After submitting the form, if I reload the page [either by the refresh button or back button; whichever applicable], firefox asks permission to resend the form data by saying "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action...". Now if the user clicks on the resend, firefox resubmits the form data.
    So where does firefox store this from data for such future resending/resubmission?
    Is it possible to retrieve/manipulate those stored form data?

    I thought I'd tried that, as tried lots of other things like encoding URL, but obviously not as this works.

    Hi, thanks for your reply i knew the FileUplaod was the way forward.
    I read topics advising to use the FileUpload and tried the following but it did not seem to work ( i get an HTTP Internal Server error when i try that):
    try
    DiskFileUpload upload = new DiskFileUpload();
    boolean isMultipart = FileUpload.isMultipartContent(request);
    if( isMultipart )
    List items = upload.parseRequest( request );
    Iterator iter = items.iterator();
    while( iter.hasNext() )
    FileItem fileItem = ( FileItem ) iter.next();
    File uploadedFile = new File("myreceivedfile.zip");
    fileItem.write( uploadedFile );
    }catch (Exception e)
    System.out.println("RECEIVER: " + e.getMessage());
    Also DiskFileUpload,isMultipartContent and parseRequest have a line going through the middle (horizontal middle).

    In the bpel you can make a http-binding instead of the default soap-binding.
    Maybe this can help you making the call to the servlet/jsp.

    which suggests to use the the Suspend plug for this purpose.
    <quote>
    Sending POST parameters with Web Dynpro Suspend Plugs
    1) Define a an additional Suspend Plug parameter (besides 'Url' of type String) with name 'postParams' and of type Map
    </quote>
    After adding the postParams parameter of type java.util.Map to the Suspend-plug the WebDynpro gives the following error during build:
    Outbound plug (of type 'Suspend') 'suspend_plug' may have at most two parameters: 'url' of type 'string' and 'postParams' of type 'Map'.
    I use SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio version 7.0.16.
    Does someone know a solution? I would highly appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance.

  • SOAP over HTTP/POST

    Hi everyone,
    I'd be eternally grateful if someone could provide me with a quick + easy solution to the following (basic?) task.
    I have a user form with the required parameters and a submit button. I have an XML schema which specifies the format for the soap requests and responses. How do I accept user input, wrap it into a soap request, send it via HTTP/POST to a server ( http://localhost:9999/xyz/xyz), wait for a soap response and display the response in a readable format to the user when they press the submit button? Not that hard is it?!
    Please try to be a specific as possible because I'm no Java expert. I'm just so confused with all the tutorials about wsdl, bpel, tomcat, jax ws, glassfish etc etc etc!
    I use netbeans and java app server 9, though I'm open to other IDEs/servers.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated,
    Ruth

  • Is it possible for ODi to do a "https post" of an xml file?

    Hi,
    We would like to use ODI to read from a VIEW and within ODI transform to a target using an XSD to generate an XML file and then do a HTTPS POST. Would be grateful for any pointers.
    we also ran into issues while transforming using a target xsd. Listed below:
    Use Case Context: In an ODI interface, Data from a database view is mapped to a target XSD schema. A package is then created, wherein, in the first step, this interface is executed. Then, in the second and final step, data transferred to the target XSD schema is saved as an XML file using OdiSqlUnload function.
    Problems faced in the above mentioned use case:
    When the data from the target XSD schema is saved as an XML file using OdiSqlUnload function, the XML does not match the XSD, which was initially imported into ODI.

  • Retrieve data/files fro HTTP POST request in On-Demand process

    Hello,
    I would like to integrate https://github.com/blueimp/jQuery-File-Upload to my APEX 4.2 application inside XE11g. I would like to use this kind of jQuery component, multiple file upload, use Drag & Drop, image resize, size limit, filter extensions etc...
    This jQuery component and also others javascript uploaders sends data files to some defined URL. Developer need to build some servlet, php script or something on server side that will read files from HTTP request and stores it somewhere.
    Do you know how to do it in APEX? How can I read data from HTTP POST request in PL/SQL? Now I can only call my On-Demand application process from javascript, but I am not able to read any data from HTTP POST in it.
    Can I do it in APEX, or using MOD_PLSQL?
    I would like to implement this:
    1) some javascript uploader will call some URL of my application and sends HTTP POST with data files
    2) I will read data files from HTTP POST and store them into database
    3) I will create some HTTP response for javascript uploader
    Thank you for some tips

    I know about that existing plugin " Item Plugin - Multiple File Upload"
    But I doesn't work in IE and has only basic features. Licence for commercial use is also needed. I would like to use some existing jQuery plugin. There are many of these plugins with nice features. And only one problem is that I need to create some server side process/servlet/script.. that can recieve HTTP request, get files from it and stores them into DB.
