Permission repair is overflowing after downloading iTunes. Why?
Before downloanding iTunes 11.1.3 on my MBP, 10.8.5, I ran permissions repair and there were no entries. After the download, I ran DU, permission repair, again and found hundreds of permissions listed. Is this something to be concered about?

At this point, iTunes appears to work fine.
Good.
lcreel wrote:
In the past I had the same issue with 11.1.3 and permissions repair/restart had no effect on reducing or eliminating permission errors.
That has been the way of things for the last few OS Xs.
As long as the Repair is Complete... all should be fine.

After downloading iTunes 11, my calendar on my iMac (OS X 10.6.8) does not sync with iCal on my iPad 2. Why is this?
Ok, here's what seems to have worked....but will need to monitor to see if this stays "stable".
1) As suggested by King_Penguin in another Discussion thread [apple support > iPad > Using iPad > Discussions] (https://discussions.apple.com/message/15911962#15911962), I turned off iPhoto startup on the iPhone. Then ejected iPhone from USB.
2) Reconnected iPhone via USB. iTunes did not start up. Started up iTunes manually. Went to Summary page for iPhone, unchecked the "open iTunes" option, selected APPLY button. Let iTunes run its application process.
3) Then checked the "open iTunes" option. Selected APPLY button. Got a dialog box asking if I wanted "iTunes Helper" to be installed; selected YES. Let iTunes run its application process. Ejected iPhone. Closed out iTunes. Reconnected iPhone via USB. AND iTunes STARTED UP AUTOMATICALLY (yay!). Let iTunes do some backup and sync'ing. Ejected iPhone. Closed out iTunes.
4) Connected iPad via USB (on computer). AND iTunes STARTED UP AUTOMATICALLY (yay!).
I don't know for sure that the iPhoto "automatic launch" was causing the interference, but it seems like the "uncheck/check" the "open iTunes" option seemed to re-set the problem that I encountered. I don't want to say for sure that this issue is fixed, but it appears to be under control for the moment.
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and assistance. Maybe this info will help someone else out now that it's in the forums/discussions. -
Have you experience a problem about losing your internet after downloading itunes? How to fix it?
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.
iPhone Repair, Service & Parts: iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro Screens
Replace the jack yourself -
After downloading itunes 10.6.1 dosent open on my PC windows XP
After downloading Itunes 10.6.1 in my windows XP dosent open when i click agreen on the first page, that is the far i can go.... Thanks
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -

Keep in mind I had an earlier version of Itunes on there before...Now I see alot of people have asked this question before but....has anything been resolved?? Can I do anything? I already tried uninstalling and then renstalling the old version and now the old one is doing the same thing! I dont know what to do...my brand new ipod is useless without this new version..Miz Katrina, haven't you read the other dozens of topics with the same problem ??? We appreaciate your answers, but users have tried everything !!! Different account, closing antivirus, QT working etc etc, there seems to be a deeper problem and Apple doesn't seemn to care at all...I am extremly frustrated because I wanted to buy an iPod Touch and without the latest version I won't be able to use it...please stop posting the same useless things over and over again...

HT4061 How to restore my ipad after downloading itunes?
How to restore my ipad after downloading itunes?
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring:
Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes.
Back up your device.
Transfer and sync content to your computer.
Restoring your iOS device
Connect your device to your computer.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes. Select the Summary tab, and click the Restore button.
Click Restore.
After a restore, the iOS device restarts. You should then see "Slide to set up". Follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant.
If needed, restore your device from a previous backup.
If restoring does not finish successfully or if a restore error appears, see iOS: Resolving update and restore alert messages.
Additional Information
If your device is continually restarting, not responding, or showing the Apple logo with no progress bar or a stopped progress bar, place the device into recovery mode and try restoring again.
Devices with cellular service should activate after a restore. If activation is not successfu, see the options below.
Symptoms
Your iPhone may display one of the following messages when you attempt to activate it:
"Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable."
"The iPhone is not recognized and cannot be activated for service."
"iTunes was unable to verify your device."
Resolution
Perform the following steps if you receive one of the messages above:
Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to Wi-Fi if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Applefor assistance. -

"The itunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (13008)"

itunes shows only 4.3.5 update even after downloading itunes 10.5 on mac..
Problem solved.
In iTunes, I selected Backup from my iPod's contextual menu under Devices. I then did a restore and all the music is back. It only took a few minutes.
These choices are only available via the device contextual menu, not the main iTunes pull-down menus.
