Persist text until user acts in a slidelet

Hi,
I have a stick slidelet in which a text box appears while an audio track plays. My business sponsor wants the text to remain showing until the user clicks elsewhere on the slidelet. Is there any way to do this, given that we can't include buttons in a slidelet? I've considered simply using Rick's suggestion in other threads to increase the time of the slidelet (say, to one minute), but this might not satisfy them.

Are you aware of the fact that your Required setting can cause problems, blocking the user? It is also totally unnecessary, because you have infinite attempts on question level, and did hide the Next button (hope you don't need Review, otherwise I would recommend not to hide that button but to drag it under the Clear button: Question Question Slides in Captivate - Captivate blog)
The hint problem is linked with the fact that a simple action will release the playhead. I would like to see the timeline of the slide, to compare the pausing points of the shape button and the question slide. Reader SDK: any way to see what text the user has selected?

I'm using the Adobe Reader SDK with C#, looking at the interapplication communication features.
I can open a document in Reader and allow the user to user the reader tools like select text, etc.
Here's the problem: I want to have my application know what text the user currently has selected. And I'd like it to know the name of the field that the user has selected, not just the text of the field.
Microsoft Office's Interop has something like this:
currentDocument.GetSelectedText();
Is there any way to do this with IAC or the javascript or plug-in features of the Reader SDK?
If not, can it be done with the Acrobat API? I've looked through both sets of documentation, and haven't found what i needed.

To write a plug-in for the Adobe Reader you need to go through 2 separate steps.
Step one - Download the Adobe Acrobat SDK (from here http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat)
and build your plug-in against the Acrobat product, following the documentation to make sure you only use API's that are available in the Reader program. The documentation tells you what version of the Adobe ACrobat or Reader program is needed for the function and whether the function can be called in Reader.
Step two - Apply for a Reader certificate to allow your plug-in to be loaded by the Reader, the link is on the same web page as the above link. This step can be initiated before you have created your plug-in, and I would recommend that you do start this process before you develop your plug-in as Adobe can refuse to give you the certificate in which case all your development would be wasted.
Only once you have permission form Adobe can you make your plug-in work with the reader application.
Once you have done both these steps there are plenty of people on this forum that can help you with specific problems you may encounter.
If you are not sure you have the knowledge to build the plug-in, there are plenty of people that you can hire to create the solution for you.

How to reduce the font size - "Portal Smart Text - CURRENT USER"

Hi Gurus,
I am showing the user name on the top left corner of our portal page. The default font size is little big(16 point size). How can I reduce the size to probably 10. I am using the "Built-In Navigation Item Types - Portal Smart Text - CURRENT USER" which shows the name of the current user. Please post a reply if you have any idea about this.

Put the item in its own region, assign a different style to the region, and set the font size for the Display Name attribute in the region's style.

I dont want to commit master-detail form untill user press save button

We have department-employee kind of master detail form.
1) We click on any record on department block.
2) Then we change / insert /delete record in employee block.
3) then we move to anothe department.
4) now it ask for saving the changes. THIS WE DO NOT WANT.
5) WE WANT TO SAVE CHANGES WHEN USER CLICK ON SAVE BUTTON.
6) If user make changes to various employees of various department,
we want user to cancel changes when ever user wants.
IN SHORT WHAT WE WANT IS
No record should be saved untill user press save button below.
and If user press cancel all changes made must be undo.
PLEASE DO NOT SUGGEST DO_COMMIT in clear block details,
We know that and we dont want that option.

but it gives "could not reserve record (x tries), keep trying?" error.The problem is not within the code given by Francois but in sessions u opened.
pls make sure u r not running more than one instance of ur form with in one session.
e.g. FireFox is opening more than one tab at a time every modification u made > compile > Generate , Save & Run only one Form instance

Is it possible to not receive a text until I have wifi for free iMessage?

How to get header text in user exit for sales order

My requirement is that I get and modify the header text in user exit when creating a sales order. In the user exit I'll do some validation and put the error code into header text. But I can't use function 'READ_TEXT' to get header text since the text has not been updated into database.

How to make a slide wait until user has answered a question correctly, even after activating a smartshape?

Background:
I have created a quiz in which the user must answer each question correctly before proceeding to the next slide. This is what I did:
Set preferences to Settings > Required > Answer All - The user must answer every question to continue
Set the number of attempts on the question level to Infinite
Made the Next button invisible and disabled the playbar
This way, the user can only proceed to the next question slide with the Submit process – and, since attempts are infinite, that means only after successfully answering the question.
Current goal:
I want the user to be able to click on a prompt for a hint. To set this up, I did the following:
Created a smartshape labeled “click_for_hint” displaying text that says, “Click here for a hint”
Created a smartshape labeled “hint” displaying text hint
Set “click_for_hint” to show “hint” on success
Now, when the user clicks on the text that says, “Click here for a hint,” the hint pops up. So, that works – awesome! However, once the hint is activated, I would like for the user to be able to continue infinite attempts until successfully answering the question… and only then, after answering correctly, proceed to the next slide.
The problem:
If the user has submitted one or more incorrect answers and then activates the hint, the slide no longer waits until the user has answered the question correctly. Instead, it automatically resumes playing, proceeding to the next slide. I tried setting the smartshape “hint” to pause on success, but that did not work.
Is there a way to make the slide wait until the question is answered correctly before proceeding to the next slide, even after the hint has been activated?

How to print certain text on user selected documents?

This question is related to SD. I need to know whether is it posibble for us to create something like checkboxes for users to choose which document they want the text to be printed onto.
Example #1:
As per customer requests on LC, this text "Bank of ABC" must be printed on ALL documents.
Example #2:
As per customer requests on LC, this text "Bank of ABC" must be printed on Billing Invoice, Form D & Form E only.
So here's the problem with Shipping Documents. The output are totally random, depending on customers request (on the same type of form). Can anyone please advice how to handle this case?

Message missing from alert box & Can you disable everything until user selects an answer?

Question 1 - My alert box window is working, and the title and buttons function as they should, but does anyone know why my message is not showing up?
Question 2 - How do you program the alert box window so that no other buttons on your application work until the user selects one of your alert window buttons? I can do this manually by setting everything to enabled = false, but I know this happens automatically every other time I've used the alert window component, but it's not working for me now.
Question 3 - How can I prevent multiple alert windows from popping up? My alert comes up when a user clicks a button called 'Delete'. Would be solved if I had the answer to question 2.

I think you were on the right track, it did have something to do with the parent fla file. Once I complied it's parent file (and imported the window and alert classes into the parent), my message appeared in the alert box.
It doesn't make any sense, because the component is not in the parent file, it's in the sub-parent fla file, but I guess you just have to compile all the files in the hierarchy for it to work... It also doesn't make sense why everything else worked before (the title, the yes and no buttons) except for the message.
Thanks for the suggestion (to look at the depths, etc), however, I'm still unable to understand why the alert is not modal as it should be. If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix the buttons to make them modal, please let me know. Thanks.

How to make an input text for user to type name in?

I'm making a game in which the user can type their name, and later in the game it'll say something like:
"Oh, Kaitlyn, how was your day?" But all I really know how to do is make it so the name will appear but NOT be in an actually sentence. The problem with that is the spacing and punctuation. I tried following a tutorial which gave me this to put in the actionscript for the output box:
output_txt.text = "Hello "+myText+"!";

What you show will work in AS2 as well as AS3. Have you assigned an instance name to the textfield (it shows as ' output_txt ' in your example)? Instance names are assigned by selecting the object on the stage and entering the name in the Properties panel.
You need to store the name that the user enters into a variable. This can be done a couple different ways. Do you have something in place for that?

Your form is not shared so I have not been able to access it. But I have updated mine. There are now two approaches, one that follows on from the above method and updates each drop down list in each row. The second updates a separate dataset that the drop down list is bound to. This second approach requires the remerge() method which can cause problems if your code has updates some form properties like a borders color as these will be reset, but the code is simplier and you will only have one list to maintain. The add button click code is;

Exported PDF's from FormsCentral show text until submitted to 3rd party application

Hello,
I'm running into an issue when trying to export a group of PDF forms that were created in FormsCentral they do show text when opened with Adobe Reader. However if another program attempts to read the PDF it does not show the text input by end users into the form. If I print the PDF file to PDF and then attempt to index it with different software the submitted text is usable. I'd like to find a way to not have another step in the process to print to PDF for an existing PDF. I'm not sure if the text is showing up as a background layer that isn't visible to other applications or if it is potentially the font which is Trebuchet MS.

Hello Gen,
We are importing the forms into Banner Document Managment System. Once they are saved as a PDF every part of the PDF is visible to the document except what the user has input. Then when it is saved and searched for in Banner Document Management System the text no longer shows up when the PDF is opened. They will show up if I print to PDF using CutePDF Writer and then upload into Banner Document Management System. Banner Document Managment System is used to host all of the school's documents when they are submitted.

Flash game problem: Game wont start until user clicks stage

Hi Everyone,
I'm a student at Drexel University and I just completed a basic platformer for a actionscript class. My professor docked me some points for the game not working until the user actually clicks within the swf. It was also required on my PC using IE8, so your Mac theory is out. If it requires that you set focus on the stage to get it running, then you probably want to have focus set there using code as soon as the game section starts... but I usually have a heck of a time managing focus with actionscript... regardless of how they say to implement it, it tends to not work for me on any reliable basis (probably just Murphy's Law).

Populate Text on User Self Registration request based on input data

Hi,
We have added two custom fields on the Self User registration form, one field is the Organization tax number and other field is organization name. We require that when user enters Organization Tax No., the organization name is populated automatically. We need to show the organization name to the user so that it can be confirmed that they have entered the correct tax number corresponding to their Organization.
Is there anyway this can be done. Please note that both are custom fields and text fields.

I have already done that, i have created custom fields on the user form. Modified the user registration form by making changes to the User Registration form xml file. However, the prepopulate adapter i have created is not working. I have created a simple adapter for testing purposes only. The code is as follows:
