Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office %username%

Hi gang,
I'm building an image  using the MDT 2013 with Windows 8.1 and "Office Pro plus 2013" and Office 2013 doesn't seems to be recognizing the variable %username% to add the username "Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office "
what it shows now it's User name : %username%
I'm also using the OCT to customize the Office 2013 MSP file.
This used to work with "Office 2007" on "windows 7".

  • Duplicate copy of microsoft office?

I saw 2 copy of microsoft office for mac
    microsoft office 2004 (482MB)
    Can i delete this:
office 2004 for mac test drive (322MB)
It's because i am always prompted to buy as the trial version has expired?
    Thanks

Hello again, Don't you just love pre-installed demos??? Reminds me of PC's. Please don't shoot the messenger...I did some searching and read many forums about removing testdrive after you installed the real deal....one conclusion.....
    Your pretty much HOSED!!!!
You need to deleted both and re-install the one you bought. Don't worry so much from what I have read, you will not lose any documents. If you use Entourage as your Mail client you might want to copy the "Microsoft Users Data" folder in your Documents file to disc or external..all your addresses, calender..etc. Other than that any custom templates or such will be lost too if not copied to another disc or computer.

  • Compatibility problem copying between Microsoft Office, Clipboard, Internet

I would really appreciate your help figuring out a problem:
I have run Microsoft Office 2004 on my iBook G4 for the past 5 years. Just recently, whenever I attempt to copy anything from Word, it comes up in the clipboard and the destination in an email body (I use gmail) as 'Ministry of Interior' or 'Version:1.0 StartHTML:0000000224 EndHTML:0000002914 StartFragment:0000002726 EndFragment:0000002878 SourceURL:file://localhost/Users/HalHinkle/Desktop/Est%20-%20christina%20black%2016b%20Ele ctric%20Ave%20SW9%208JR.doc Ministry of Interior' no matter what I do. I have tried clearing the clipboard several times, but that has not solved the problem.
This problem seems to be limited to copying outside of a Microsoft office programme to another application, like both my Firefox and Safari internet browsers. Interestingly, within a Microsoft Office programme (I have tried both Word and Excel) I can copy and paste fine.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks very much.

Hi csblack86, and a warm welcome to the forums!
I think you've got a Macro Virus along these lines myself...
Word Virus on Mac – W97M.Thus.gen-2...

    1. I just opened up Word (and a new, blank document if it doesn’t open automatically).
    2. The go to “Tools -> Macros -> Visual Basic Editor”
    3. On the Left is a box called “Projects”. The default selection is the blank document that you have open. Above that will be a cascading menu that will say “Normal”. (See the picture)
    4. Once you click on “ThisDocument” a bunch of code will show up in the main window. Just select it all (Apple+A) and then delete it. All of it. Don’t spare a single character.
    5. Save the changes (Apple+S, or select “Save Normal” under the File Menu)
    6. Quit the editor (Apple+Q, or “Close and Return to Microsoft Word” under the Word Menu)
    7. Close Word.
That is it! You are all done!!

  • Microsoft office doesnt work

I've been working with MS office 2011 for a while but then just as i installed an update it just wont work, neither one of the office programs...please help!!!

    My issue is now fixed.
Here's what I did. (I don't know which part actually fixed it, though.)
    - made sure that Excel was not running in the background (it wasn't)
    - deleted the preferences in ~/Library/Preferences for Microsoft Office
    - deleted the preferences in /Library/Preferences for Microsoft Office
    - rebooted
    - re-started Excel: it started with a screen saying "Your copy of Microsoft Office is now authorized."
    - in Excel, went under "Help" and chose "Check Updates"; this found a small update, which I applied
    - in Excel, did Check Updates again which then found a much bigger update, which I too applied
    - checked updates again to be told it was up to date
From there it seemed to work as it should. Hopefully, this will help someone in the same situation.

  • Microsoft Office Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2013 on Windows 10 Technical Preview

Hi, I've never developed a plugin for Office before. I've downloaded the technical preview of Windows 10 and have it running via Boot Camp on my MacBook (Looks good! I'll buy it when it comes out). Obviously with this being in beta it's understandable that
there are problems, so this is just a heads up on one particular problem. Maybe there's already a solution or workaround?
I've downloaded Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition, brought a copy of Microsoft Office Home And Student 2013 and am currently in the process of installing Microsoft Office Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2013.
The only problem though is that when I try to install it I get the following message:
    http://s22.postimg.org/dxh1gtra9/Install_Problem_Office_Plugin_Tools.png
    Here is the log:
    http://pastebin.com/7wWkSfjF
I also tried to download the file directly and run that.
    http://s3.postimg.org/tj9vb660j/Install_Problem_Office_Plugin_Tools2.png
I right clicked on the file and noticed an options called "Troubleshoot Compatibility". There was a wizard, and I ran through the wizard a number of times through different routes but none of them worked. I was unable to find the option which turned
off compatibility mode. I then searched for answers online which told me to do some things in the regedit program but that didn't seem to solve the problem.
Anyway, I understand that this is a beta version of Windows 10 and that there are going to be problems but thought it would be best to let you know. Perhaps I should just bite the bullet and buy Windows 8.
    Many thanks,
    Lawrence

  • I lost my ability to use Microsoft Offic for Mac, when I upgraded my MAC from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion! HELP!

    HELP !
After I upgraded my operating system on my mac, (from  Snow Leopard (10.6 ? ) to Mountain Lion (10.8.2), virtually ALL of my documents (recipes, update logs, information of untold things), have been denied to me with my Microsoft Word for Mac (which I have used since I purchased my mac in Aug.2008).
I now get a window that tells me "You can't open the application "Microsoft Word" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." (Needless to say, I cannot use Excel or anything else, either!)
Yet, I can still access them, fully (read and even print fro them), individually, by dragging a file into my PREVIEW program!
          What gives?
I am not a savvy programmer, nor do I confess to somehow being warned that this might happen when I upgraded my operating system.
Is there any reasonable (easier?) way to continue the use of these (to me) very important files? I only upgraded because I upgraded my iPhone to a 4S and wanted everything to conform to  siimilar circumstances!
         What can I DO?

You need to upgrade your copy of MS Office. You're using a version that is 8 years old (at least). You can buy Office 2011, which will work. You could also get a copy of Pages from the App Store, which is cheaper and will open Word files (though not perfectly). Or you could get a free Office clone, like OpenOffice or LibreOffice.

  • Having trouble getting Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 to run.

I recently upgraded my iMac to ML, but since then I've had difficulty getting the app to run.  It would give me an error message and an error log.  Then I created a new user profile to see if it'll run there (under system prefs, then under users & groups).  Well, it did run.  It opened just fine under the new user profile.  So it can't be a problem with the new OS.  So what is it with my primary user profile?  What is keeping Office from running in one user profile and not another?

I am assuming that you are attempting to download a copy of Microsoft Office directly from the Microsoft Store ... correct? If so, you cannot use the product key from the CD as this key is specifically used for the software on that CD. You would need to acquire a new product key as you would need to purchase another copy of Office for your MacBook Air.
The Mac version can be found here.

  • IMac Freezing & Microsoft Office for Mac

I took my 7 day old iMac back to the store I purchased from. After two days of solid testing, the techs there were unable to make my machine freeze or crash. This is after I experienced either a freeze or completely black screen/reboot every 2 to 5 minutes.
I brought the machine back to my office, fired it up and you guessed it...it froze. Here's the thing...the only software open was Microsoft's Entourage.
Yeah, I know...seems to go against all things good to have to load Microsoft products on a Mac, but my clients all use Office.
I uninstalled Entourage and so far so good...no crashing or freezing or black screens or anything.
I'm keeping a log of the software I have open for the next few days just in case the freezing happens again. That way, I'll know exactly what I have open at the time of the failure.
So I'm wondering if anyone else with a freezing iMac has Office 2004 loaded and could this perhaps be the culprit?

    Hi Bee,
Thanks for the welcome. My original post about my iMac problems are over in the Freezing iMac thread. After talking with AppleCare, I decided to take my new machine back to the store I bought it. They are what I think called a boutique Mac store. Anyway, they have a 7 day return policy...get all your money back.
I was so frustrated with the freezing, crashing, black screens, I went in with the intent of returning it for a refund. This small neighborhood store has been averaging selling 3 iMacs a week for since these Alum ones were released. Mine is the only one they have heard of with these issues. They were mystified and were really curious about this problem.
Anyway, I uninstalled the trial software before installing my copy of Microsoft Office. So even though your suggestion is very thoughtful and helpful, it doesn't apply to my machine.
I'm going to continue to monitor and record what I'm doing, although if I have many more unproductive days due to this machine, I will simply have to return it. As I've posted before, I'm self-employed...no workey, no eatey.
I was just wondering since Office for Mac 2004 was written as universal and not specifically for Intel Macs, could they be the culprit...although it looks like the problem people are having is pretty wide and so most likely the software is not the problem. Just trying to grasp for an answer...

  • In Mac OS X, what do I use instead of Microsoft Office?

Does Mac OS X come with a suite like Microsoft Office or do I buy something? What do I use to replace it? On email is email and calendaring built in and ready for OS X Server so that I don't need to buy something else to start using Apple's iCal scheduling and apple email services? Thanks.

A 30-day evaluation copy of MS Office 2004 is included. You can purchase a copy of Microsoft Office 2008 (starting today) from anywhere that sell Mac software.
There are alternatives: OpenOffice (requires you install the optional X11 package from your OSX DVD), and NeoOffice are very similar to the Windows version of MS Office 2005. Apple also offers an office suite, iWork, for $79 that is very good in some respects (Keynote is hands-down better than PowerPoint), but it lacks many features compared to MS Office or OpenOffice (for example, mail-merge is worthless).
Apple's Mail.app is a very good POP3/IMAP client. It doesn't handle Microsoft Exchange, however (unless Exchange has the POP3 or IMAP support enabled). Mail.app is fine for working with your ISP. However, if you are stuck with MS Exchange at work, I might suggest purchasing Microsoft's Entourage.
Apple's iCal is a decent calendaring application that makes calendar sharing and syncing pretty simple. However, here you have a similar situation to Mail.app: if you have to connect to MS Exchange at work, best to use Microsoft's Entourage (included in MS Office 2008 for Mac).
There are several applications that will sync iCal and Google Calendar. Likewise, you can use Mail.app with things like GMail.
OS X server has all the necessary software to support iCal calendaring, shared address books, e-Mail and directory services.
