Phonegap - loading an external PDF/XLS/DOC/etc, what happens?

Hey all,
I'd like to make a phonegap app but I'm curious how one part of it will act.
This would be a very simple brochare-ware type app (like apps that show off cars, etc). It will contain office-esque docs (.pptx, .docx, .xlsx, .pdf, etc). These documents will be hosted on the web. If the user chooses to view one of these files, is it possible to contain the document so you don't leave the app?
What I'm thinking is I'll need to insert an iframe somewhere and point it to the resource. Will this keep me inside the app?
My biggest fear is making an app with phonegap and every time a user wants to view a PDF (or anything) it leaves the app and launches safari to go view the asset. I'd like to remain inside the app at all times when viewing these resources.
Does anyone know if an iframe approach would work? Other alternatives?

For the time being, store everything in the same folder (as good a place as any) and use code like you showed.

How do I use the filter to automatically print email and .pdf, .xls, .doc attachments to my default network printer and to other network printers

I receive sales orders by email. I want to filter some to print on my default network printer and others to print on another network printer. The email body must print as well as txt, .pdf, .xls, .doc attachments.

You can filter messages to file them to a certain folder, but I don't think you can have Thunderbird to automatically print them.

Spotlight stopped finding files, even after "index". They're visible files, not system files (like.jpg, .xls, .doc). This happened for no apperent reason.

OT: Aperture analogue for .pdf, .eml, .doc etc?

Does anyone know if there is a way to view .eml and attachments such as .pdf, .jpg, .doc etcetera in some kind of real size 8 1/2 x 11 inch view on my MacPro or MacBookPro? I am struggling right now with portfolio submissions that I am trying to organize and while I have previously printed out the email /and/ the cover letter /and/ the portfolio, this is getting increasingly difficult to handle.
Is there some kind of software that acts like Coverflow on steroids that will let me drop these into a folder and scroll through them very quickly like I handle my images in Aperture (small icons on left and choice of display and sizes etc) in the Browser?
Somehow Coverflow does not quite cut it since I need to save out the .eml and the .pdf and the .doc (and it is also not showing me the full pdf or the full .doc just the cover page) and Mail or Postbox will let me organize the emails themselves but the attachments stay pretty buried until I open them.
Is there such an animal on the mac continent?

Aperture seems really great at making access to images very easy and I am sort of struggling to get my other items together as I push this port to mac forward.
Is it possible there is something that will just sort of "lay them out" or "splay them out" in a way that Aperture seems so good at? I got to realizing that Coverflow and Quicklook are really awesome but I'm wondering if there is a way to expand on this or minimize the organization that is required. I've been looking at FileMaker and I'm also wondering if there isn't some kind of /linkage/ that I can make between my data.
I mean, the problem I am having is that if I take 100 resumes from within Postbox (my Mail equivalent) I have to first move them to a dedicated folder and then I have no real way of seeing the imagery in the portfolios unless I click on the email, select the portfolio and then hit the spacebar and do a quicklook. This will only give me a cover page and then I have to double click on the pdf or .doc or whatever to actually see the contents.
I /think/ Aperture handles pdf's in the same way but if I import them into Aperture (and not all of them will be pdf) I then have disconnected them from their .doc coverletter or even the email that they came in with. You follow me? I mean, I am just sort of hoping to knit this info together a little better in a way I can see it and it isn't buried.
I bought Papers to organize and search for pdf's but somehow this type of thing still seems like the documents that should go together are all going to be very segregated and also hard to see unless you specifically open them. Just thinking out loud and hoping for a recommendation but I almost want a Aperture-Preview-Coverflow hybrid in a way...
I mean, I have organized these into 3 Ring binders so I can pull them out and see it all at once but I can't figure out how I would do this in my mac which really should be the place I handle this from now on...

Thumbnails for XLS, DOC, etc

Hello,
is it possible to have XLS file checked in and to have thumbnail for it? As far as I can see, one option is to use XLS -> PDF conversion with Inbound Refinery and then we will have thumbnail. I can agree that we need to have M$ Office installed for this purposes, but I don't want to store data as PDF, I still need XLS as file format. Is it possible and if "yes" then "how"?

Not sure if you can do it via web (not to say there isn;t a way), but my guess would be to write a JNLP to get them to DL a tmp java prog that has the info tied into it, then the prog auto executes, it creates the file. You could also set up a 'client' version of your prog that would be able to accept that stuff. Again prob using XML make it generate some kind of document, get the client to auto goto a URL it has been sent then, accept that XML (or you can use other methods) then parse it client side, write the file that way.
Not sure if that helped at all, you never really explained what your server prog does.

Backing up External drives to Time Machine - what happens if the drives are not connected at the same time?

I have 2 x 1 TB drive that I use interchangeably. 1 holds Video and the other Photos. I only have 1 connected when I'm working (using Premiere or Lightroom). I have a 2 TB NAS for making redundant copy of the other 2 drives.So far I've been doing the copying manually.
I'm considering of using Time Machine to make proper backup sets (though I'm always only interested in the latest set). I know that I can set Time Machine to backup to Nas over the network and include any external drives connected to the mac at the time.
The questions now are:
Will Time Machine fails if it can't find any of the external drives?
Does Time Machine handle backing up the external drives one at a time - only when it's connected - without thinking the files on the "missing" (or disconnected) volume had been deleted?

I followed the instructions but my new computer does not show my old bookmarks, etc. what happened?

I followed the instructions to sync firefox to my new computer. I saved info, printed my sync key. I had to disconnect my old computer from the internet, and then reconnect to my new one.
When i entered the sync key, I did not receive my favorites, etc.
What do I do now?

HT4929 Even after I move to icloud, Lion download, etc., what happens to my saved email file folders? Do I leave them? Move them? Lose them?

I have downloaded Lion, etc, have a moblie me account that I have not moved to the cloud.
I have a lot of email folders with emails and links to websites, etc. that I don't want to lose.
After June 30th, will I still have these saved folders if I've moved to icloud prior to that date,
or do I need to move everything to a hard drive or a gmail account? Not sure what to do to
save all of this.

All your mail should migrate from Mobile Me to your iCloud Mail account. If you are at all worried, alt-drag the mail to a folder in your 'on my Mac' account to copy it, to serve as a back up.

Firefox was fine on my LapTop earlier today, Now, I have no access or visualization of the Main Menu Listings that are usually just below the title bar,i,e,,File,Edit,View,History,Bookmarks, Helpetc. Since I don' have access (it's not there), I cannot change settings. I have uninstalled and re-installed and it re-installs the same way.

Load external PDF in Acrobat Reader

Hi Guys,
I'm creating projectors for both Mac and PC and I want to get my button to load an external PDF into Reader and not the browser. Not sure how to do this the best in AS3? external .bat file maybe (I tried but with no success)???
Any help/advice would be great.

Sure I understand the OS prefs for each file type. But the std Flash external PDF link opens the file in your browser and not the default PDF reader that is set in your OS. I would have thought that I could open my PDF using the OS deafult reader instead of the browser?

Load balancing - what happens if a server goes down?

Hi, Just an academic question.
Assume I have 2 DA servers behind a BIG-IP load balancer, named DA1 and DA2.
If I enable Load Balancing (BIG-IP in my case), what happens to the clients already Connected to DA1 when IP-HTTPS is used?
For example:
Client1 is connected to BIG-IP, which in turn redirect this client to DA1-Server. Assume that DA1-server goes down, what happens with the client then? I assume the Client will be redirected to DA2-server by BIG-IP after some time, meaning it will have to establish
the connection from scratch. Is this correct and roughly how long does it take for the clients to connect to the DA2-Server?
Since IP-HTTPS is using it's own pool and IPv6 prefix per DA server, I assume this will happen? And the DA client1 will receive a new IPv6 address from DA2 ?

It depends of the way your Big-IP is checking the servers in your pool.
The client will try to reconnect to the HTTPS interface and still be redirected to server1 until your Big-IP validate that the server1 is not responding and disable it.
And yes, you'll receive a new IPv6 address because each server in a DirectAccess NLB cluster has a specific IPv6 range for the clients.
