Photo flipped over

I took a photo a while back and transferred it from the camera to iPhoto. It looked fine, then in preparation for copying it to the iPod Touch, I dragged it to a folder on the hard drive. After it dragged over it also flipped upside-down. Hmmm...I rotated it back over and saved changes and when I open it there, it is always correct...but when I copied it to the iPod it is now upside-down again. Is there a way to overcome? Thx! Eric

There are 2 ways software can rotate an image; the easiest way is to just change the information in the file header, the other is to actually rotate the image data to change the data in the file.
Some applications take the easy way out and just change the header; some viewing applications take the easy way out and ignore the header and just look at the file data. In this case, the image viewed wouldn't be rotated.
What application are you using to rotate the image?

Can't see photos copied over from old mac - any ideas?

I copied my photo library over from my old mac (same method as I used for my iTunes library, which worked) to my new one. I just dragged out the original empty library folder and put the one from the old mac in its place. Non of the photos showed up.
I figured I would deal with it later and have since added photos from my camera. I am now trying to see the older photos but no luck. My photo library, seen from within iPhoto, has albums for the years listed but without the pictures.
I did the rebuild but that didn't change anything. I tried importing them but iPhoto tells my I can't import them since they are already in the library.
Anyone know how to solve this?

Do you still have a copy of your original library from the old Mac?
If so try the following:
1 - copy it again to the Pictures folder.
2 - download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administartive name in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
3 - launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed and select that library folder to open.
Now see if the album gets converted correctly. You can move your other iPhoto library folders to the desktop temporarily until you see if this procedure is any more successful.
Also update to 10.4.9 with the COMBO updater and update Quicktime to the latest version, 7.1.5. Of course repair disk permissions afterward with Disk Utility.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. iPhoto works best when the source (Pictures folder) is on a different disk drive than the iPhoto Library is on.
And you need to have enough free disk space to work with, the faster the better.
Also, do not keep your media folders and those in your home folder on the same drive as the system, also another bottleneck.
Until or unless you have everything on 1400MB/sec SSD PCIe controller, you want

Media and data folders and such
scratch
backup
etc
I put iPhoto on an SSD off an SSD PCIe Sonnet Tempo card
If you stop- it, you will need to trash the Library it was creating.
Reading and writing to/from the same hard drive will be slow.
You don't mention which Mac, or how large you are trying to import etc

Take a look in Activity Monitor. See what the % being used for iPhoto, how many pageouts, how much free space on the various disk drives, and how much RAM do you have installed?

You would need an image editor to edit the images and add a border to the image first before importing them into Final Cut.

Adobe Captivate 7: "Flip over" animation?

I'd like to include an animation that basically is circles that state "OBJECTIVES" and then having each circle "flip over" to show more text (the various objects of the video). Does Captivate have this type of animation/capability and I'm just missing it? Any suggestions? Thanks!

NeoSpeech seem to work on PC, not on a Mac.
Their Voice Cloud service only offers English voices.
In all the voices NeoSpeech offers, the only French voice, is Chloe.
Chloe is already installed with the language package for Captivate, and work´s well.
Still can’t find a French MAN spoking voice to integrate directly into Captivate…

2 x laptops + 1 x iMac - various photos scattered over all of them - how to manage?
Our 2 x digital cameras get plugged into various computers.
5 devices (6 if you count the video camera) and one family
The result is our family's photos are all over the place.
I am working on a Mobile Me Gallery to get the best shots of our kids finally in one place.
But what about ordering? Do we really have to pay shipping 3 times if we order from each of the 3 Mac's ?
*Or can you build up ONE LARGE photo order from different Mac's?* And review it?
Or can the Gallery function somehow be harnessed to create an order 'compilation'?
*iPhoto family sync* - that's whats needed!
OK I think I have described the problem - I look forward to any input from the MacSperts for solutions, work arounds, suggestions!

Sometimes an issue can be fixed with a change of software or hardware, sometimes with a behavioural change by the user(s).
Bluntly, you’re going to need to instill some discipline into this Family Jules. Wave a big stick, beg, plead or whine, but if you will insist on putting data from five devices into any of three computers there is nothing that will prevent a mess!
The best thing you can do is to use one Library as a Master Library. Then use iPhoto sharing to make all the pics available to the other machines. It’s not really that hard. The obvious candidate is the iMac, as that’s always home...
Simply tell folks to upload the pics into the iMac. Then you’ve all your pics in one place, and all problems are solved.
Does this seem a tad draconian? We the advantages are clear: backing up one library backs up all the photos. Currently, do you have a back up? What if one machine breaks? Has database corruption? How do you know you’ve got all the photos? Yes, you will have to pay shipping for each order from each machine, so it will be cheaper too.
You can gather all the pics from all the machines into the iMac library by using iPhoto Library Manager to move photos, albums, events between libraries.

Palm TX digitizer changeout and flip over screen cover needed

I am trying to make my TX last until the PRE is available at Verizon and need to change the digitizer. I purchased a glass digitizer and tools to change it. I watched two videos and can't seem to see how to disconnect the cable connector from the motherboard. The one video is so out of focus and the guy's hands are in the way and the other guy doesn't even show this step. Does anyone know how to do this? I know it must be very easy, but I'm afraid of breaking something.
The other thing that I need is the flip over cover for the display that comes with a new one. I can't see where I can purchase a replacement. I looked at PDAParts and they don't have it.

How do you flip over frames?

I took some video and loked down the orientation, so the video was captured "upside down".
When I transfered it to iMovie, how would I "flip over" the clip?

Isn't it so that flip can have two meanings (at least it does to me)
• 180 deg rotation
• Mirroring
180 deg - is as said - but Mirroring is harder - I think I had to export out as QuickTime .mov and in QuickTime-Pro or MPEG-StreamClip do the Mirroring then re-import.

I have to display dialogs, frames reversed like a mirror symmetry. How can flip over all components?
Or any tool to do it?

AbstractButton (which JButton extends) calls JComponent.paintImmediately upon a click, so I don't think you can stop it without overriding AbstractButton and JButton (not recommended).
Either override the paint method for your components to look like your overlaid image or remove your Swing components and test the mouse click location in the MouseListener.

I can understand this with videos you are streaming, i.e. maybe you have a slow data connection.
Videos on your phone should not do this. Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

My photos look over saturated when opened in CS6

When i look at my photos in Ulead Instant Viewer or Breeze Browser Pro they look similar to what they did on the back of my camera.
But when i view them in my newly purchased CS6 the saturation is increased by around 25 to 30 units.
When i scanned some 35mm colour negatives and viewed them in photoshop they had exactly the same saturation as when viewed in Ulead Instant Viewer and Breeze Browser Pro.
Can anyone help please?

if Photoshop is not displaying your RGB faithfully, either your monitor profile is off or Photoshop is being configured to use (or assume) the wrong soure profile (it is possible your problem documents are over saturated and Photoshop is only displaying the problem)
i would have you download the PDI WhackedRGB.jpg and see what happens in your apps...
tip: if you confirm Photoshop is indeed using the whacked source profile, and it is not displaying proper, I would suspect your monitor profile (try Edit>Color Settings> Settings> North American Prepress 2 for now - then quit Photoshop and reopen the Whacked test image, "Use the embedded profile")...

Automatic uploading of photos sent over chat - Un-...

Skype automatically uploads photos to the bull**bleep** skype web API whenever I send photos over skype. This is completely unacceptable and unwarranted. I also can't find the option to remove this "feature" from skype. I don't want a new image hoster, I don't want the internet having them. Peer to peer is far better, as I also get locally saved copies.
Better yet, only half the **bleep** chats send these internet photos. Not only is it a terrible invasion of privacy, but it's inconsistant as hell too.

Apple is currently developing the Mac part of iCloud Photo Library (Beta). Right now, you can only upload to the iCloud Photo Library from mobile devices with iOS 8, but the new Photos.app, to be released early this year, will make this possible from Macs as well. See: iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ
It will be possible to migrate iPhoto Libraries and Aperture libraries to Photos for cloud storage.
Obviously, all new photos I generate go to iCloud automatically but is there a way to get the thousands of photos that I have gathered over the years to be sent to iCloud.
Be careful - if you are referring to "My Photo Stream", your photos are not stored in iCloud. My Photo Stream is a temporary buffer in iCloud, and the new photos are only kept for 30 days in iCloud, then they will be purged to make room for more recent photos. The photo streams are meant for sharing photos and not as a permanent storage, see: iCloud: Get help using My Photo Stream
If you have saved photos to My Photo Stream, make a local backup of all photos in the stream, while they are still there.

Photo storage over capacity but can't find pictures on phone

When I hooked up my iPhone 5 to my laptop, the storage for the phone says I'm over capacity. It's understandable that most of the storage would be allocated to photos, however, it says I have 6089 photos when in reality I try to keep the photos below 200. The only way I could have that many photos is if you add up everything from the camera roll, albums, my photo stream, and shared photo streams. Maybe I'm just not that tech savvy, but I thought the photo streams were supposed to take up cloud storage and not phone storage. Regardless, I would like to know how to find these photos so I can copy them to my computer and then remove them from my phone. As it stands I only have 155 pictures on my camera roll because I have to delete pictures before I can take more. Can someone please help?

Web Photos pixalated over 3G ??

is this normal on the I Phone 4, for example I have just loaded up msn.co.uk on my I Phone and pictures and photos on there are blurry and pixaleted, should this be happening or is it case with it been over 3G and would improve over wireless network ??

I've had mine set that way for weeks now with no issues. O2 cripple your bandwidth and compress images to keep their network looking like it's performing better than it really is

Photos Flipping!

Why do my photos in InDesign change orientation when I update their link? I often place my vertical images, then arrange them to the size and placement that I would like. Then I package the file, and I edit the photos and change them to CMYK for publishing.
When the links update in the file, each photo that was vertical flips and I have to go back in and fix them. It takes up so much of my time.

Sounds like they were rotated in the frames.
