Photo Library Problem

I recently lost all my data on my laptop and have just purchased a Macbook. I have an iphone which I have all my photos on my iphone and have managed to get some from my iphone to the mac BUT I have now noticed in my Photo Library on my iphone I can see the photos but as soon as I touch it took look at a photo my screen goes black like there is no picture at all.... some I can see and some I cant...Has any-one had this happen?

How did you get them off as there is no built in way other than emailing?
If you used a 3rd party app to access the iPhone's file system, it could of messed it up.

  • ICloud Photo Library Problems

So I recently was running out of space on my iPad, so I decided to try out iCloud Photo Library. I selected Optimize iPad Storage and let it upload photos overnight, though it didn't make any progress at all so I just decided to disable it. Later when I was scrolling through my photos, I noticed some were missing, about 150. I logged on to iCloud.com and saw that they were all there. I was very relieved that all my photos didn't just vanish. What I need to know is how to get the photos on iCloud back onto my iPad. When I turn back on iCloud Photo Library, is given me a message saying "iCloud Restore in Progress. iCloud Photo Library will begin syncing when this device has finished restoring from backup." Even though iCloud backup is off and I am 100% sure there is no backup in progress.
If anyone can help, that would be great.

i too am suffering from the same problem ..i deleted all my iphone library...all my photos were in icloud ....once i did turn on icloud photo library der are two option either optimize storage or 2nd option download full resolution photos....
i selected download full resolution photos as i have 64 gb iphone 6..but even it says library update when ever i open a photo it opens photo from icloud n i see d same timer type icon on lower right corner of pic until d blurred pic becomes clear.. dis happens in my ipad where i have selected optimize storage option as my ipad air is 32 gb..but its happening in my iphone inspite selecting download original full resolution photos

  • Recovering photo library problems

I made a big mistake of merging 2 photo libaries, bad bad bad
no problem I thought, I have time capsule, I'll just restore a back up of the photo libary- and now I have all the same folders as after the merge, but the Event tiles from the merged in photos are now blank. However if I however over them, it shows that all the photos are there - any ideas?
    Many thanks in advance
    A

There is specific info down the bottom for iphoto here.
Go back several days before your merge.. and restore it to a different location.

  • What went wrong with my iMovie 4 Photo Library?

I'm preparing a slideshow with narration & music on iMovie 4 to burn to DVD.
The Photo Library in my iMovie 4 has suddenly become disorganized so that with over 650 photos in it, I can't readily locate a photo. However, the albums remain organized. It's just iM4's Photo Library that is disorganized.
In iPhoto, the Photo Library is organized, as are the albums. I tried deleting the .plist file in Preferences, but that didn't work. It's a unique problem, I think, as it's never happened before over more than a year of working with iM4.
    Any advice/info?

Deduct those 10 points. iMovie 4 reverted back to a disorganized Photo Library & the routine I described, above, doesn't help. iPhoto's Library is still organized, as are the albums. The albums in iM4 are also still organized.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I had to change the size of a photo because on a previous trial DVD, the image was seriously cropped on left & right when viewed on TV even tho the Constrain in iPhoto was set to DVD dimensions.
I accessed Photoshop, via iPhoto, & changed the image size to 640 pixels wide, letting height be what it may. I did a Save As, changing the format from .tif to .jpg. I saved it to the Desktop. From the Desktop, I dragged the file into iPhoto.
After adjusting the title info so that the photo would be in its proper place in iPhoto's Photo Library, I returned to iMovie 4, but iM4's Photo Library is once again, disorganized.
I think this is an iMovie, not an iPhoto problem. So, humbled, I again ask for your help. BTW, could I just work with the albums, since they contain everything in the Photo Library, but organized by time periods? I just wish I could get the Photo Library problem in iMovie 4 fixed.

i cannot open iphoto- the message I am getting says Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command-
I tries and it doesnt work!!

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Listing order and dates of my photos have all changed and now it is a mess in my photo library! I tried to list them again by date, but it didn't fix the problem. What to do?

If your preferences keep getting messed up try this:   make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Sync problem with photo library

    Hello,
I am not sure to post this question here, but since it happens with my apple tv i hope to be in the good section.
Most of the time when i start iTunes fresh and i want to sync my apple tv, which start at starting up iTunes, i get a error that it could not find the photo library.
When i go to the photo library tab i indeed see no events, or pictures at all. When i start up iPhoto and i look again, the problem is solved, but the worst thing is at has to resync my comleet photo library. This also happens with my iPod.
First i thought it was a update wich i was waiting for, but now, since the last 08 and 10.5 update and still no progress i hope somebody could help me out.
    Thank you in advance
    Edgar

That really sounds like ownership and/or permissions.
While everything is working properly, can you do a "Get Info" on the iPhoto Library in the Finder and write down what it says about ownership and permissions?
Then when it misbehaves, look again and see if it has changed?
Unfortunately, my library lives on a networked drive, so the ownership may be different. But in case it's useful, here's what mine says about the iPhoto Library folder:
    Owner: system (read & write)
    Group: wheel (read & write)
    Others: (read & write)
Hmm, that got me thinking, so I purposely created a new library on my MacBook HD (note that I am running 10.4.11). Its permissions are:
    Owner: {my username} (read & write)
    Group: {my username} (no access)
    Others: {blank} (no access)

  • ICloud photo library (beta) problem

Hello, I updated my iphone 6 to iOS 8.1 and was trying to activate the iCloud photo library (beta) but I have a problem.
When I turn on the option a popup says that the sync will start when the device restore from iCloud will be finished.
Obviously I'm not doing any restore from iCloud at this time. I restored from an iCloud backup a month ago when I purchased the new phone and everything seems to be perfectly fine: I have all my apps, photos, contacts, etc.
One thing I noticed is in my photos app there's a spinning wheel saying the photos are syncing (see screenshot) but that's not true: all the photos are there and there're no unfinished downloads.
I also tried to erase the phone and restore a backup from itunes but it didn't solve the problem.
Does anyone have the same problem? Is there a solution?

I'm running 10.10.1. I'll try updating that in addition to the phone OS.
Don't forget to make a full backup of your Mac, before you upgrade, better safe than sorry.
With iCloud Photo Library Beta enabled, you could download your photos directly from iCloud, while your Photo Stream will not work:
If you enable iCloud Photo Library (Beta) on your iPhone, the iCloud webpage will change for you:
This page https://www.icloud.com will show an additional app:
And if you click the Photos.app on that page, it will take you to a page showing your photos, https://www.icloud.com/#photos
That link is dead for you, as long as you are not using iCloud Photo Library.  It will show you the Moments and Albums, just like the Photos.app on the iPad or iPhone.

Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command keys pressed. You can also try restoring your photo library from a backup.

Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

  • Problems on uploading photos to iCloud photo library

I had a problem on uploading photos to the iCloud photo library yesterday.
It shows that my mac is uploading my photos to iCloud but the numbers have stuck for days, I checked my WIFI and rebooted my mac for two times but it still didnt work.
I also turned on iCloud photo library on my iPad air and, similarly, the numbers still stayed the same....

There is probably maintenance work going on. Today I go continually warnings, that the photos cannot be found, when I tried to access iCloud Photo Library (Beta) from the iCloud page. Other threads reported, that the iCloud Photo Library (Bata) page was continually stuck on updating.
It is still a Beta service after all, accessional undergoing updating and reconstruction.

  • Photo library storage problem

    Hey guys,
I have deleted all the photos from my 5s. Including the deleted photos. ALL of them, but in Storage - Photos&Camera - Photo Library is shown that i have 3.7GB occupied. Also in iTunes i can see i have 568 photos, but i cannot see them on the iphone.
    Any idea what is happening?

Any shared photostreams? If not, then next time you are plugged in to iTunes, turn off all photo syncing and disable photo sharing under iCloud settings on the phone. After the next sync, see what you show for photo storage.
