Photoshop 7 will not launch. I tried many things, re install, checking pref

I can't even get to the main menu. Any suggestions?
G5 Mac OS X (10.4.9)
G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

But wait... I am running PS 7 flawlessly on my Intel, so that's not the issue. It's probably a pref or a font.
Create a new account, name it "test" and see how your apps work in that User acct? (That will tell if your problem is systemwide or limited to your User acct.) This account is just for test, do nothing further with it.
Open System Preferences >> Accounts >> "+" make it an admin account.
Let us know and we'll troubleshoot this further.

  • Firefox will not launch I tried the things in article on error I received (which I no longer get, even after re-boot) and nothing. I tried uninstall/re-install - nothing HELP

At one point I did get the error msg that it was already running, I tried the fixes in the article on that error and still nothing. I do see it create the parent.lock file (file size is 0) but I get no further. This started yesterday (Jan 3)possibly after an update. At one point it did finally launch but not since. Worst is, it is set as my default browser, so now I can't launch anything from my email.

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.
*Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html):<br>File > Import and Export

  • Photoshop CS5 will not launch

Photoshop CS5 will not launch either from the desktop or program list. The only way to launch is to log out and restart the computer. At the end of each session I reset the preferences in the Workspace.  I am running Win 7 ultimate with 4GB of ram. System is 64 bit .  Display is ATI Radeon HD  5700 series. Adapter type is AMD Radeon Graphics Processor (0x68B8). The computer has an Intel(R) series/3400 Chipset Family.
When I installed from the disk I received the message  Exit Code 6, 0 fatal errors, 21 errors, 1 warning. I have reinstalled several times and still get the same message. Tried disabling start up items while installing but same message.

One thing that sort of jumps out at me, regarding running the program, is that 4GB of RAM. With a 64-bit OS, 4GB is just about the minimum to run the OS, with little to nothing left over for a program, like Photoshop. I would bump that up, and to 12 - 16GB, if possible.
For the installation, I think that Mylenimum has posted some very useful links.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Photoshop CC will not launch after deleting and re-installing Lightroom

Yesterday, I contacted Adobe support because I could not get my Lightroom trial version to convert to my CC subsciption. I was told to delete the Lightroom app by dragging it to the trash and re-installing. I did this, and it fixed my problem with Lightroom, but now my Photoshop CC will not launch. I am on Mac OS Mountain Lion. I have tried launching from the dock and from the finder both.

Reinstall the original 5.2 and forget the CC version for now. It's exactly the same piece of software. What you did get was a second license, useful if you have more than two machines, but completely redundant if you haven't.
The situation is different when Lr 6 comes out. You'll get that as part of CC and don't need to purchase the upgrade. So at that point you can just install CC and leave 5.x where it is.

  • Photoshop CS4 will not launch after installing Yosemite.

Photoshop CS4 will not launch after installing Yosemite. All the other CS4 apps open. I upgraded Java. Genius Bar could not get it to launch.

Here's the fix I found, by way of an explanation...
Snow Leopard prompted me on my first startup with the following error:
"There is a conflict with the _______ font file. This font file contains a font name that conflicts with a system font required by Mac OS X to display onscreen text. You should move this font file to the Trash."
The fonts it said were conflicting: Helvetica, HelveticaNeue.dfont, Lucida Grande, and Monaco. I figured Snow Leopard probably wanted to replace these fonts with newer versions, and so I clicked "Move to Trash" on all four.
Apparently 10.6 trashed these fonts but didn't replace them. This was causing Photoshop to crash on load.
So I restored my ~/Library/Fonts folder from a backup made just before upgrading and this time after a reboot I said "Allow Conflict" on all four dialog boxes and launched Photoshop... everything is back to normal!
Not sure what kind of "conflict" it's referring to, but apparently moving these font files to the trash as OS X prompted me to do broke a number of apps. Should I report this as a bug?
    Thanks for the ideas!

  • Photoshop suddenly will not launch

    Hello,
    photoshop suddenly will not launch.
a dialog box displays: "Can not open a work file because the file is locked or you do not have access privileges necessary Use the command." Properties "in Windows Explorer to unlock the file." appeared 2 times every time I want to run photoshop.
    Win 7 64bit
SSD (temporary files on another partition)
    Photoshop 64bit
It is possible to open photoshop as qu'adminsitrateur but I do little more import files drag and drop. (Very unpleasant, I lose a lot of time)
This is the second time it happens, I reformatted my PC for 8 days, it is parfairtement own.
    A tool, an idea?

Your response in no way applies to my message to you.  I did not submit a print screen nor did I submit a image to you of any dialogeue box.  Your canned response is simpy pathethic.  Due to your and Adobe's inabilty and/or lack of interest in supporting paid customers' difficulties with your software, I will continue to run assorted fix-it scans and attempt to fix Adobe's inabilty to launch on my own.
I will be seeking an alternative to your software - I can no longer rele y upon Adobe - which I have been using for at least 12 years...please notify Adobe that they have lost the long standing allegiance of a user - of the largest winery of the world.  BIG mistake!  Once I find an alternative, I will now do my best to convert the entire winery to the alternative.  All of this originated because I purchased the Photosoft 7.0 software for use to benefit a local non-profit that the winery has been supporting for 45 years - HUGE mistake on Adobe. Hopefully, this will teach them a lesson.
Just because a customer appears to be a individual user does not mean that they do not have influeunce elsewhere...the company that you suport is about to lose a huge looser.  It is Adobe's loss...there are plenty of other alternatives out there.
I work full time to support myself financially...and I volunteer my time to a local non-profit art gallery (where I am on the executive board)  to support my artistic interests....shame on Adobe for ignoring the individual just because they appear to be a simple user.  By the way...I also sit on two boards at the local college....my research on alternatives to Adobe will certainly be shared with them - especially in these budget cutting times.

  • Photoshop CS6 will not launch on MacBook Pro. Adobe icon appears then disappears.

On a macbook pro.photoshop will not open. i've tried everything all that happens is an adobe icon appears and then quickly disappears. i have photoshop cs6 suite for a little over a year now. no problems until today. please help - i have a project due tomorrow.

    Hello:
I am sorry but I am a Windows user and so I am not sure I can help you. I do not know if you have enough time before your project is due but if you do not get an answer here you may want to just call Adobe. They have techs that can walk you through everything. They can take over your computer and fix it for you. They have done this for me many times when I have had problems and I have always been helped.
I do not know if Mac is the same but have you tried going to your Program Files? Like... your C drive > whatever > whatever > program files? and then right + click to open it from there ...?? does Mac have something similar??
I totally wish that I could help you more than this!! Best of luck and I really do hope you can get your project done or an extension!!

  • Photoshop CS4 will not launch after upgrade to 10.6

I just upgraded to Snow Leopard and found that Adobe Photoshop CS4 crashes every time during launch, moments after the splash screen disappears. I ran the Adobe Updater to see if there was a patch for this, but no go. I've already upgraded to 10.6.1 to no avail.
Photoshop is my livelihood and I'd sure appreciate some help getting this fixed before it starts to cost me! Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot,
    -i-

Here's the fix I found, by way of an explanation...
Snow Leopard prompted me on my first startup with the following error:

  • ITunes 7 will not launch - have tried fixes mentioned below

Since installing ITunes 7 there have been problems launching it - I got the process running for 2 secs or so then dying. Sometimes it would work though, usually when an ipod was plugged in.
After updating to 7.02 the problem worsened - i tried completely uninstalling Itunes and Quicktime and now my ipod is not even recognised. Just patching in a new Quicktime did not work either as it told me a newer version was already installed. I have scanned my machine with several antispyware programs but nothing has been found. Quicktime launches ok and I do not have Norton.
    Please help!!!

It would help to know more about your computer and your operating system version.
By the way, it's confusing if you say "iTunes 7" as you did in your topic.  I run iTunes 7 -- on my 10 year old computer.  You're trying to run 10.7.

  • InDesign CC 2014 not opening. Tried many things.

I downloaded ID CC2014 but can't get it to open. Here's the basic lowdown:
    MacBook Pro 16GB RAM 2.3 GHz i7 (Late 2013)
    Running Mavericks
When I try to launch ID, I get the following error:
"Unable to launch Adobe InDesign as you do not have sufficient permissions to access the preferences folders. Ensure that you have appropriate permissions and then restart Adobe InDesign."
I went through quite a few forums, but have been unable to find the source of my issue. The one thing that I find most odd is that there aren't ANY folders for this version of ID in my preferences folder. I have them for versions I've run in the past, but not this version. Some of the solutions I've seen involve deleting the preferences folders, but they're not there to begin with!
I can get the app to open if I log in as a guest, but not under my primary user. Photoshop CC2014 and Illustrator CC2014 work fine and have preferences folders installed.
    Suggestions? Ideas?

    That did it. Thank you!
Sometimes the most obvious answers are the hardest to see.
