Photoshop CS4 leert belegten Speicher nicht - Lösungsideen?

Hallo liebe Freunde,
ich benutze Photoshop CS4 unter Mac OSX Snow Leopard auf einem MacBook Pro, 2,8ghz, 4gb Ram.
Photoshop hat 2gb Ram zugeteilt bekommen.
Wenn ich Bilder bearbeite läuft PS anfangs sehr flüssig. Nach und nach füllt sich (laut Aktivitätsanzeige) der von PS genutzte physikalische Speicher, was nachvollziehbar ist, denn die Fotos werden wegen der Ebenen immer größer. in der Regel speichere und schließe ich dann das erste fertige Foto nach einer halben Stunde und öffne das nächste. Beim dritten Bild dann ist es soweit und Photoshop fängt an zu stocken. Reparaturpinsel genauso wie normale Pinsel die bei den ersten Fotos noch nicht sichtbare Anwendungsladezeiten hatten, benötigen nun 1-2 Sekunden um einen Effekt zu zeigen. Wenn ich an dieser Stelle die Aktivitätsanzeige bemühe, erfahre ich, dass PS rund 1,95gb Ram benutzt und schon auf die Firewireplatte auslagert. Mir ist klar warum das passiert.
Nicht klar ist mir, warum sich dieser Wert nicht ändert, nachdem ich das Foto speichere und geschlossen habe. Weiterhin sind von Photoshop fast 100% seines ihm zugewiesenen Speicherplatzes belegt - obwohl kein Bild mehr geöffnet ist.
Nun meine Frage: Wie leere ich den von Photoshop genutzten Speicherplatz ohne Photoshop nach jedem zweiten Bild neu starten zu müssen?
Ich würde mich freuen, wenn mir jemand den Trick verraten könnte.

vielen Dank für Deine Antwort.
Es ist tatsächlich so, dass ich mit 50 Historyobjekten arbeite. Da das in meinem Workflow recht wichtig ist, möchte ich darauf ungern verzichten.
Würde ich die Historyobjekte noch weiter runter setzen, würde ich das Problem doch nur nach hinten verlagern, oder nicht? Dann würde er nicht beim zweiten oder dritten Bild sondern erst beim vierten stocken?
Das Hauptproblem ist ja, dass der Arbeitsspeicher nicht geleert wird, wenn ich die Datei schließe. Auch ohne jegliche geöffnete Datei belegt Photoshop noch stunden nach dem letzten schließen seinen vollen zugewiesenen Speicherplatz von 2gb und bremst den Mac damit unnötig aus.
Bleibt es also dabei, dass meine einzige Möglichkeit, den RAM von den Daten des letzten Bildes zu leeren um mit leerem Arbeitsspeicher am nächsten zu arbeiten ist: Photoshop beenden und neu starten?

bis vor einer Woche war alles OK - Photoshop & Lightroom funktionierte normal.
Mein PC ist eine HP Workstation XW8200 mit Windows 7 X64. Alle anderen Anwendungen inkl. Adobe Anwendungen funktionieren normal.
Eine Woche später lassen sich beide X64 Applikationen nicht mehr starten.
Fehlermeldung: Bei Photoshop mit der Initialisierung der Applikation, bei Lightroom nach Abfrage ob der Katalog gesichert werden soll, ist:
Adobe (Photoshop / Lightroom) 64-bit funktioniert nicht mehr. Das Programm wurde aufgrund eines Problems nicht richtig ausgeführt. Das Programm wird geschlossen und Sie werden benachrichtigt, wenn eine Lösung verfügbar ist.
Ich habe versucht Lightroom zu reparieren und es neu installiert, jedoch keine Änderung.
Photoshop 32 Bit funktioniert normal, ebenso andere 64 Bit Applikationen (z.B. Photomatix Pro 3.2)
Hat irgendjemand eine Idee was die Ursache sein könnte?
In der Woche habe ich eigentlich nichts an meinem PS installiert, außer einem Windows Update.

Photoshop CS4 Verknüpfung zum Epson Scan herstellen

Hallo, ich habe auf meinem neuen PC mit Win7 64bit, Photoshop CS4 und mein Epson V700 Scanner installiert.
Der Scanner mit der passenden Software funktioniert ohne Probleme.
Wenn ich jedoch mit CS4 Bilder importieren möchte, wird die falsche Software geöffnet.
Unter /Importieren/WIA Unterstützung wird der Canon Scanner und der Epson Scanner aufgelistet.
CS4 öffnet beim Canon Scanner, die Canon Software
und beim Epson Scanner auch die Canon Software.
Ich möchte die Fotos aber mit der Epson Software einlesen, wie bitte kann ich eine Verknüpfung einbinden?
Unter CS2 hatte ich dieses Problem nicht.

Warum dieses? Der Fehler liegt im System. Ganz offensichtlich paßt die Treibersoftware eben doch nicht. Photoshop selbst kann nur TWAIN direkt steuern, WIA ist halt Windows. Da mußt du schon an andere Stelle mal nachforschen, welcher Treiber nun der richtige ist und wie die sich untereinander vertragen. Auf jeden Fall als Minsdestanforderung mal in der Systemsteuerung nach Bevorzugte Geräte unter Kamera & Scanner schauen. Kann sein, dass es immer auf einen Scanner festgelegt ist. Bei USB-Geräten reicht es auch manchmal schon, die an einen anderen Bus zu stecken, also einen Scanner hinten und den anderen an der Vorderseite, damit die Treiber sich nicht in die Quere kommen....

Photoshop CS4, licensing problem 148:3 PC Windows 7

Nach Windows-Update geht Photoshop CS4 nicht mehr. Es kommt eine Meldung mit Fehler Nr. 148:3, Ein Problem mit dem Programm, die Lizensierung funktioniert nicht mehr. Es wird ein Neustart empfohlen. Nach Neustart des PC bleibt die Meldung gleich. Die Empfehlung lautet den Support zu kontaktieren. Kann mir bitte jemand weiterhelfen?

Bei der Automatisieren_Funktion_ Photomerge in ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS4 stürzt das gesamte Programm mit einer Fehlermeldung komplett ab.

Habe die Vor_ Einstellungsdatei bereits umbeannt, habe die Grafiktreiber aktualisiert. Die Schriftfonts überprüft, alles ohne Erfolg.
Ach ja, das ADOBE Paket habe ich gesamt deinstalliert und neu installiert.
Auch ohne Erfolg!
Arbeitsspeicher überrüft.
64bit Version unter Windows 8

Hier eine Stellungnahme des Autors von PTBSync. (www.netcult.ch/elmue)
Die Schriftart Ptb_Clk2.ttf enthält die Zeiger und das Ziffernblatt der Analoguhr, die PTBSync auf dem Desktop darstellen kann.
Diese Schriftart wurde mit Corel Draw erstellt.
Der Desktopkalender von PTBSync wird vom Internet Explorer generiert, der keinerlei Probleme hat, die Schriftart korrekt anzuzeigen.
Wenn du die Schriftart in Word auswählst, kannst du damit schreiben. (Es erscheinen natürlich keine Buchstaben sondern Zeiger)
Wenn du die Schriftart in Paint Shop pro auswählst, funktioniert sie ebenfalls.
3 Programme die problemlos funktionieren, zeigen, dass die Schriftart nicht das Problem ist.
Was das Problem ist, ist hingegen ganz offensichtlich:
Generell gilt: Ein Programm das abstürzt, ist IMMER fehlerhaft programmiert.
Ein korrekt programmiertes Programm zeigt hingegen eine Fehlermeldung, wenn es mit einer Datei nicht klarkommt, aber es stürzt nicht ab.
Adobe Photoshop Elements CS4 hat einen Programmierfehler, der zum Absturz führt.
Adobe hat dieses Problem bereits erkannt und behoben.
Installiere dir also eine neuere Version und es gibt keine Abstürze mehr.
Wenn du das aus irgendwelchen Gründen nicht willst, lösche die Schriftart Ptb_Clk2.ttf.
Keine Sorge: PTBSync wird wegen einer fehlenden Schriftart nicht gleich abstürzen ;-)
PTBSync wird weiterhin funktionieren, natürlich ohne Analoguhr.

Photoshop CS4 – Fehler bei den EXIF-Kameradaten

Hallo,
leider macht Photoshop CS4 einen meines Erachtens schwerwiegenden Fehler. Wenn man unter Photoshop CS4 die Dateiinformationen aufruft, dann verändert oder löscht dieser einige EXIF-Kameradaten. Beim Aufruf der Dateiinformationen unter Bridge CS4 sind diese korrekt vorhanden.

Das Fatale ist nun, dass diese geänderten bzw. gelöschten EXIF-Kameradaten beim Speichern des Fotos eben geändert werden bzw. verloren gehen. Am meisten stört mich dabei, dass danach die Informationen über das verwendete Objektiv fehlen. Denn über die (hervorragende) Filter-Funktion in Bridge kann ich mir dann eben nicht mehr nur die Fotos eines bestimmten Objektives anzeigen lassen.
Dieser Fehler tritt bei mir sowohl auf meinem PC (Windows XP SP3) als auch auf meinem Notebook (Windows Vista SP1) auf.
Hoffentlich habe nicht nur ich dieses Problem! Wenn es sich bei euch auch so verhält, dann wäre ich über eine Rückmeldung dankbar. Ferner sollte dann natürlich auch Adobe über diesen – meines Erachtens – fatalen Zustand informiert werden, damit die diese Sch… schnellstmöglichst beheben.

Error in VBA reference for Adobe Photoshop CS4 Object Library

Hello,
I'm using Windows 7 Pro, MS Office 2010 Pro and Creative Suite CS4 (with all updates).
I will automate Photoshop via Visual Basic for Applications in MS Access.
Befor using there the Adobe Photoshop CS4 Object Library I must reference it in VBA.
But when I will du this, I get the message "Error loading DLL".
When I will manually reference to the WIASupport.8LI File, I get the error: "Cannot reference this file"
Can you give a tip, how I can solve this problem?

I have the same problem! I have photoshop cc2014 (which we own) and the object library shows, but not for cs 5.1 (30 day trial).
Does registering unlock something?

Complaint: Animated GIF, Photoshop CS4

I am a freelance print designer. Needless to say that I have upgraded to the Design Standard Edition of the Creative Suite 4. Still, some customers ask me to do their web banners, too.
Fact 1:
There is an animation palette in Photoshop CS4 Standard.
Fact 2:
You can create animations with that palette.
Fact 3:
You can save the animation as an animated GIF.
Fact 4:
Opening the animated GIF, you only get the first frame, so you cannot edit the animation or content inside the GIF.
Fact 5:
I need to alter a few animated GIFs which I created several years ago using Photoshop CS2. Due to a harddrive crash, I don't have access to the original layered PSD files any more.
Fact 5:
Photoshop CS4, the most advanced image editing tool on the face of the earth, is absolutely useless at this point, and I have to find freeware or shareware to do the job. Finding and purchasing this sort of software is MY time, and that is MY money.
Whatever drove Adobe to cripple Photoshop CS4 Standard, whatever drove them to expel the simple "Open Animated GIF" feature from Photoshop CS4, it was the wrong decision.
This, Adobe, is a customer complaint. Take it serious. There is competition, and I hear a lot about GIMP these days.

I know this thread is getting on a bit now, but I do have the answers.
Quite simply, as far as I can tell, this cannot be done without Quicktime installed.
To open an animated gif in CS4 on a PC:
1. Go to File->Import->Video Frames to Layers
2. In the File Name box type “*” ( or you can type the name manually) The window will now show every type of file
3. Select your gif and you are done
To open animated gif in CS4 on a MAC:
1. Go to open, select your GIF, then in the bottom left corner of the open file dialogue box select Quicktime Movie as the format, then open your GIF.
2. You’ll need to open your animations window by going to window -> animation. This will bring up the time line.
3. If you want to have all of the frames broken up into layers, click the options in the animation window, and select “Flatten Frames into Layers”.
This will give you access to all the frames as layers and you can now edit the GIF as though it was a movie.
I hope this helps to ease somebody's frustration.

Find your serial number quickly
You can activate software without following up and registering it... at least that was the case in the past. The serial number is normally located on the disc case or a box inside the main box. If you did not purchase the disc from Adobe then it is possible you would have dealt with a redemption code, in which case it would have been up to you to keep a record of the serial number, especially if you did not follow up and register the software.

Photoshop CS4 - File Type Associations and Bridge CS4

I have both Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop Elements 7.0 installed on my PC running Windows Vista Home Premium, I removed Photoshop CS3 after installing CS4. The issue I have is that if I look at file associations in Bridge CS4 under Preferences, none of the file types are set to Photoshop CS4, they are set to either Explorer or Photoshop Elements 7.0. The even stranger thing is also that if I try to change the associations, Photoshop CS4 is not even displayed as an option, as Photoshop Elements 7.0 always is, I have to browse in order to find it. This works, but I find it strange. Also within Windows none of the file associations are set to Photoshop CS4 after installation, I have to change them manually, again by browsing for it. I remember that in previous installs of Photoshop there was the possibility to change or use default file associtions, does CS4 have this? I guess this is not really a problem, but I find it somewhat strange that Elements 7.0 is always offered as an option but not CS4 and makes me feel it hasn't installed properly. Anyone have any ideas?

CCleaner did the trick for me too!
But I still suspect something about CS4 installer is not right.
Under CS3 I used Vista "open with">"choose program">"always use" to assiciate bridge CS3 with my canon camera raw files.. At that time it did work.
After installing CS4, I wanted to do the same with bridge CS4 but it didnt work. In the "choose program" vista menu, whatever I was doing, I couldnt select bridge CS4 it was always comming back to photoshop cs4 or bridge cs3.
After using CCleaner, I could re-associate the way I want right away.
So my word to photoshop's installer developper: please try to reproduce this issue, it should be easy, and make the installer avoid this.

Problem with Photoshop CS4 after migration to new Mac

I just migrated from an old Mac to a new Macbook Pro running Mavericks. I'm having a problem with Photoshop CS4. Specifically, two things:
1) When I open an image in Camera Raw, I get this error:
Fatal error - missing component
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Version Cue CS4/Client/4.0.0/VersionCue.framework
2) When I try to save anything, it tells me it can't because of a program error.
I've looked around for a solution. Apparently I had to install Java, but that hasn't solved the issue. A couple of people mentioned that reinstalling would work for a similar problem. My problem with that is that my disk is on the other side of the world and my new macbook doesn't have a disk drive anyway. So I logged into my Adobe account hoping to see a download link for software I have licences for, but there isn't one.
So my question is firstly, whether there is a simpler solution to the errors I am getting and, if not, if there's a solution to reinstalling Photoshop CS4 without the disk.

Did you use Apple's migration tool? It misses a lot of support files, especially in the Application Support directories.
You'll have to copy those files manually, or reinstall the app.

Using Lightroom 5 with Photoshop CS4

Hi folks. New Here. I am a novice convert to digital photography and I have browsed the discussions concerning Lightroom and Elements in the main.
Is there any need to buy Lightroom 5 to deal with cataloguing and searching imported RAW images with Photoshop CS4, as Photoshop Bridge 4 comes with Photoshop CS4? What is a good strategy for dealing with libraries of images? I have the chance to aquire inexpensive versions of LR 5 and P CS4.
For your information - I am using a MacBook Pro with a quad core i7 processor, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB Flash drive and my camera is a Canon PowerShot SX50 HS.

I appreciate the careful and easy to understand reply, Jon99. Versions of P higher than CS4 are prohibitively expensive for me at this stage. If I get on with digital photography then I might look at the PCS and L CC subscription option in the future.
I went ahead I aquired my bargain basement version of P CS4 and like it so far, but I held back on LR5 until I had a clearer view of what it enables me to do and thanks for the information.
Do you or anyone know if I can sell my version of P CS4 when if I decide to move up to the Cloud solution? Flicking through another Pogue-style book seems to suggest that the latest versions of P CS and L are the current state-of-the-art. Is there a simple list of what users of this option consider to be the main, *essential* improvements of the latest versions of these two pieces of software that possibly make it a must-purchase. I am not after an exhaustive list, but just the main improvements that may make this an essential purchase after I cut my teeth with P CS4.
I am a real novice and have included the specs of my camera and MacBook Pro in my previous post for anybodies info in order to help me.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 runnig error - cant load files

hi,
ive first time installed adobe cs software in my pc. i have never used this software before nor its previous version.
when i try to run adobe photoshop cs4 - it gives me error after loading for few things that "A required application library failed to load and the product cannot continue, please re-install the application"
ive re installed the application several times but that same error continues.
any help will b welcomed

OK. This error drove me nuts and I have seen a thousand different "solutions" posted on various forums (none of which actually worked), but I think I found the magic bullet for this problem. This appears to be a result of corrupted/missing language pack files. Here's what I did to resolve it once and for all!
You should already have a folder somewhere with the contents/Setup.exe for CS4 Design Premium
Download the trial version of Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended
Unpack the contents to a folder/directory somewhere on your PC
You will NOT be installing the Photoshop CS4 Extended application - only copying some files.
Copy the "extensions" folder from Photoshop CS4 Extended, that you just downloaded to your CS4 Design Premium folder (there should be an "extensions" folder already there as well)
Select yes if prompted to replace existing files/folders.
Double-click the Setup.exe in your CS4 Design Premium directory and re-start the installation of Photoshop from there.
Problem should be solved.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 Installation Error

I'm new to this site and my computer has Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1.
After I installed Photoshop CS4 trial, it failed to install Photoshop, but the rest were successful. I went to get more information and this is the message:

I have been using Adobe Photoshop CS4 for a few months now without any problems or errors.
But last week.. i had a virus problem and decided to do a Clean Installation of my Operating System.
I was not too worried because I have done this millions of times already... and know the process like the back of my hand.
Well.. after the clean installation was complete, i started to load my applications.
To my surprise.. Adobe Photoshop CS4 would not install. Nor would Adobe Illustrator CS4.
It would get to the screen "Adobe is beginig the installation process" and would stall ..
At first... i thought it would eventually complete on it's own.. but after a few attempts and hours of the same screen with no progress.. it was obvious Adobe was no longer responding at that stage.
I searched high and low, night and day, over a few days trying to figure out the problem.
I was trouble-shooting everything.
In the middle of trouble-shooting, i took a break to surf the Net and see if i could find any suggestions when i ran into this Forum.
Someone mentioned disabling your Internet Security & Windows Defender.. and i thought.. no way.. it can't be that easy.
Well.. what do you know.. it was my Internet Security (Kaspersky Internet Security 2010)
After disabling Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, Adobe flew right pass the part where it was stalling, and finished installation without incident.
Adobe Illustrator CS4 also installed without any problems ...
I just wanted to share my experience as i know how frustrating it can be when software refuses to install.

I had a similar problem when i extracted the contents of my Adobe DVD and made an ISO file out of it so i would no longer need the DVD for installation.
But what i realized is that.. Adobe will not install if it's installed from the ISO.. and during installation.. an error would pop up.. and ask for the DVD
You probably have done something similar.
Here's what i did to fix:
- Extract the contents of Adobe Photoshop CS4 into a Folder
- and install from that ..
After i extracted the contents and installed from "setup.exe" .. the installation completed without error ..
DVD
- If you're having problems from the DVD .. then try to extract the Contents of the DVD on to your Desktop..
and install from there ..
Trial Installer
- As for the Trial you are referring to .. im not familiar with it ..
but try to extract the contents of it to your Desktop .. and go from there ..

I can't open .CR2 files in Photoshop CS4

I'm unable to get the .CR2 files from my new Canon Rebel T3i to open in Photoshop CS4. I just got this camera and I never had this problem with my old camera (Rebel Xsi). The raw files from the Xsi will still open, but not the ones from the new camera. Can anyone help me understand why this is happening?
