Photoshop cs4 rectangle tool error

Hi
I am using photoshop cs4. In my cs4, rectangle tool having a problem see this image

I see no problem. These are simply high-contrast antialiasing issues based on your choice of colors affecting how a) the human eye perceives this stuff and b) it messes with things like compression on a technical level. It's really just a bad design decision and simple things like e.g. adding a hint of subtle outer glow or "dirtying" up your colors with a bit of black will easily resolve this.

  • Photoshop CS6 Rectangle Tool error

I have been using Ps CS6 for several weeks and love it, however recently everytime I try to use the rectangle tool or any shape tool I get an error message, it worked fine up until 3-4 days ago? It says cannot use rectangle tool because of program error.
    any ideas?

Haven't been hearing too many reports of corrupted preferences, but it might be worth a shot:
Press and hold Control - Shift - Alt immediately upon cold-starting Photoshop.  If you get the keys down quickly enough - and you have to be VERY quick - it will prompt you to confirm deletion of your established preferences, which will lead to them all being set to defaults.
That could help with a problem like this.

  • CS4 liquify tool error

Something very strange has just started to happen to me with CS4.  I've been running CS4 on my Mac Pro for quite some time without any problems.  Just yesterday I began to run into something like a mini "crash" when using the liquify tools.
Previously, when using the liquify tool even on very high resolution images, it was quite smooth.  I could clik and drag with basically no lag at all.  On some complex retouches I'd spend at good half hour in one "liquify session" with no problems.
Suddenly, yesterday, the situation changed.  As I started working on an image yesterday, I noticed there was a lag between the time I click and start dragging, and the time the cursor actually started moving.  It's about 2 seconds (if I click, count to two without moving, and then start dragging, it's smooth).
MORE IMPORTANTLY, after 24 moves (basically 23-24 every time), I get an ERROR and I must close liquify.  I can return the liquify results without difficulty.  I can also re-start liquify and i get another 24 moves before the error comes again.  The error says "The operation could not be performed" and "an unknown operating system error has occurred".
I've searched google a lot, and I can't find anyone that describes a similar problem.  Has anyone had this problem?  Any suggestions to try to resolve?
    I've tried:
    0.  Reboot
    1.  Repair permissions
    2.  Update from 11.0 to 11.0.1 (yes, I hadn't updated)
    3.  Trash photoshop permissions and rebuild
    4.  Check for OS updates (none, I'm on 10.6.2)
    5.  REINSTALL Photoshop
I'm on 10.6.2, mac pro, 6GB ram.  I have a fully legal and licensed (bought from Adobe) and registered Photoshop CS4.
    Thanks in advance

I thin i #4 you mean you reset the preferences but what you have to do is trash the Adobe Photoshop CS 4  Settings folder.
so First quit Photoshop then go to Users/Username/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS 4 Settings folder and trash it.
You might also move a file called om.adobe.photoshop.plist.
I would then repair the permissions and restart the computer before launching PS CS 4.
If this does not work create a new user and log into it and see if you have the same problem with the new user, then let us know what happened.

  • How do I reinstall Adobe Photoshop CS4 - I receive error 6 stating that licensing for this product has stopped working.

I previously installed Adobe Photoshop CS4 on my Macbook Pro. My hard drive crashed, and I had to get a new hard drive replaced. Now upon trying to reinstall CS4 from a backup copy CD (with licensing, serial number available), I receive an error 6 stating that the "licensing for this product has stopped working". Has anyone experienced this or know how to troubleshoot? Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

  • Photoshop CS4 type tool and paint bucket

I am teaching Photoshop CS4 to my students and have started having problems I've never encountered.
Problem #1 - Type tool won't work. We can create a text box and type in it. Text does not show on the document but does show in the layers palette. I've made sure the layer is on top, text is not too large for text box and font color contrasts the background. I've looked at the character and paragraph palettes looking for something unusual but have found nothing.
Problem #2 - the paint bucket is "stuck" on one color. No matter which color swatch I choose, the color does not change. I have created new documents and also shut down and re-opened the program but that didn't help either.
Has enyone encountered these problems? How did you solve the problem?

Depending on how you start Photoshop, holding the keys down ahead of time won't work on Windows 7, Bill (and I'm not sure, but possibly other versions of Windows as well).
For example, double clicking an icon on the desktop with Control-Shift-Alt held down brings up the Properties of the icon.
You actually have to press and hold the keys as soon as humanly possible after starting the app.  You have to be quick, but when you're quick enough you'll get...

  • Photoshop CS4 Extended Graphics Error

    Hello Everyone
I just recently upgraded to CS4 Master Collection in hopes of using it with my web design job I was hired for. Whenever I go into Photoshop CS4 Extended and I try to "Free Transform" something (an image, a shape, etc) and either the canvas goes black and doesn't respond for awhile, or it has these purple shapes that show up on a black background and they are pixelated. I do apologize if I am not describing this very well. You can see what I am talking about here on this link where I took a screenshot and posted it.

I never have nor have I ever had this issue in Photoshop CS3. I look forward to everyones help and responses to this matter. Thanks in advance!

this fixed the program error for me, at least for the time being. i do use the opengl drawing thing quite a bit though, i hope they fix this. i also hope its not my machine (1 year old macbook pro). i also speeded things up on my machine by having a separate scratch disk that i plug in (a firewire 800 drive) which i thought was the program error problem at first. some of the files that were not able to open i was able to initially open by duplicating them and then opening them. but not today--i haven't been able to open anything until i turned off the opengl drawing preference. good luck whoever you are! i know how frustrating this is--believe me, i almost slammed my computer on the ground today when it wouldn't open my files!
note that overall the opengl feature, i feel, is pretty rad though--i love being able to draw and rotate the entire canvas to match the orientation of my drawing capabilities!

  • Photoshop CS4 Display Driver Error

I have a user who is using Photoshop CS4 on a Dell Optiplex 745, with onboard Intel video. Since I read that Photoshop now uses OpenGL heavily in its operations, and also understanding that OpenGL support is pretty bad on Intels integrated video, we put an Nvidia GeForce8400 card in the PCIExpress slot, and loaded the latest drivers from Nvidia (version 182.50 currently). The user reports he periodically gets the attached error message, "Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements. Check the video card manufacturers website for the latest software"... Knowing that some other OpenGL-enabled software is picky about what version of Nvidia graphics drivers are installed, I wonder if this is what we're seeing here...  Anybody have some insight on this?

Did you disable the onboard graphics in the BIOS?

  • Photoshop CS4 Crop Tool in Option field

Is there a bug using the crop tool in Photoshop CS4 (11.02) and enter values in the fields in the Option field.
Enter values for Width, Height and Resolution is OK, but if i go back to change the value in one of the fields, everything in all fields disappears if i press delete standing in on of the fields.
This must be a bug in CS4.
Do anyone knowing anything about this?

I'm going to go out on a limb and make some guesses as to what happened:
Some time during the development of CS4, someone likely got the idea that the [Clear] button and the Delete key should be the same thing, to save some time for the people who are keyboard oriented and want to quickly clear out all the fields.  And so they redesigned the UI slightly to do that.
Then people like you, after actually using CS4, complained that they didn't like the Delete clearing all the fields, and Adobe told the engineers then working on CS5 to rethink that design yet again.  But they never considered releasing it as an update for CS4 because it was actually behaving as designed.  This avoided the risk that a change might break something unexpected also.
Companies are typically very resistant to do application redesign then release the change as an update.  That's just not how the software world works.  Mostly the updates are just for bug fixes, and only the most severe.  The latest example of this is Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1.  You wouldn't know it was any different whatsoever from the pre-SP1 software, even though there were clear design flaws in the user interface.
And of course they want you to have that all-important incentive to buy the next new version when it comes out.  I'm sure they even responded, "thank you for helping us to make our product better."

(just please dont say restart ur computer or uninstall and reinstall the program. i know that those wont fix it)

    >(just please dont say restart ur computer or uninstall and reinstall
    >the program. i know that those wont fix it)
Not entirely correct. In many cases a uninstall/reinstall will correctly initialize the licensing system. The point here is, that one of your previous uninstalls, most likely of CS3, did not go as planned. You can of course try the tips from the knowledge base first. If they fail, uninstall. In addition, make sure to run the CS3 clean script and CS4 clean utility to get rid of every trace of old and defunct files. Then try another install.
