Php 5 on webserver 7
Dear All,
I have tried to configure php on webserver 7 by referring to the following doc
http://docs.sun.com/source/820-1090/PHPReleaseNotes.html#12
neither of the fast-cgi nor the NSAPI worked
------fast-cgi-----
[11/Feb/2009:20:42:05] config (18947): for host 10.126.21.5 trying to GET /form.php, handle-processed reports: HTTP2205: The request method is not applicable to the requested resource.
-----NSAPI--------
[11/Feb/2009:20:47:12] failure (19227): for host 10.126.21.5 trying to GET /file.php, responder-fastcgi reports: FCGI1010: could not change the working directory of the application process
[11/Feb/2009:20:47:12] failure (19227): for host 10.126.21.5 trying to GET /file.php, responder-fastcgi reports: FCGI1073: Unable to service the request even after trying 0 times
what might be the cause?
Even I looked to this doc
http://developers.sun.com/webtier/reference/techart/php2.html
didnt understand waht i should be pointing to in this section
NameTrans fn="pfx2dir" from="/cgi-bin"
dir="/export/my/cgi" name="cgi"
Any directory !! even if it doenst exist?
Thanks for the help,
Scotty
neither of the fast-cgi nor the NSAPI worked Can you share your obj.conf settings ?

------fast-cgi-----
[11/Feb/2009:20:42:05] config (18947): for host 10.126.21.5 trying to GET /form.php, handle-processed reports: HTTP2205: The request method is not applicable to the requested resource.
One of the reasons could be the missing .php mime type setting within mime.types file.
-----NSAPI--------
[11/Feb/2009:20:47:12] failure (19227): for host 10.126.21.5 trying to GET /file.php, responder-fastcgi reports: FCGI1010: could not change the working directory of the application process

Have you specified "chdir" parameter ? Also check 'Fastcgistub.log' file (will be in Web Server's temp directory) for errors.
didnt understand waht i should be pointing to in this section
NameTrans fn="pfx2dir" from="/cgi-bin"
dir="/export/my/cgi" name="cgi"
Any directory !! even if it doenst exist?
No, the directory should exist. Above directive converts URI to physical path.
e.g., Web Server tries to execute */export/my/cgi/simple.cgi* script when you send request to */cgi-bin/simple.cgi*

Issues with Error #2048 on deployed Flex/PHP Web Application
Hello,
I'm testing out Flash Builder for PHP and I'm running into the following error when deploying to a web servers:
Send failed
Channel.Security.Error error Error #2048 url: 'http://testsite.dreamhosters.com/LocatorPHP/public/gateway.php'
I have looked though documentation and tutorials without any luck. My application works great on the local Zend Server setup but as soon as I jump to a remote web server I get problems.
Here's what I've tried:
1) crossdomain.xml in web root
2) amf_config.ini updated so zend framework on server and gateway.php are reachable (connecting to gateway.php directly gives me no errors)
3) attemped to change the flex server option in my project but Flash Builder for PHP will not allow me to change this, so I had to change my php service.as endpoint entry to the gateway.php on the webserver
Is there a log that can help me troubleshoot the error?
Thanks in advance.Any solution I have just ran into the same issue. App works perfect on localhost phpmyadmin as soon I change everything to our public server ERROR#2048
I have tried same as above no results.
After countless hours of searching this worked for me!!!!

The PHP package was rebuilt in order to provide more functionality while
reducing explicit dependencies and memory usage. This was achieved by
building most PHP modules as shared objects instead of building them
statically in.
In addition to this it is easier to use and package external PHP modules and
its configuration due to the possibility to have a separate config file for
every extension. Those ini files are stored in /etc/php/conf.d/ and will
automatically used by PHP.
If you are using PHP on a webserver connected to the internet you might be
interested in installing the php-suhosin package as well which was moved from
the [community] into the [extra] repository. Along with the suhosin-patch
which ships with the current PHP packge this extension provides some advanced
security features. For some more information on this see
http://www.suhosin.org.
The packages will remain in [testing] for at least a few days. Please test
this package with your favorite scripts and report any error or suggestions:
http://bugs.archlinux.org
If you update from a previous PHP setup, take care of the following changes:
* Due to the modularization you have to enable some modules which were
built-in before. For a quick overview compare the modules section at the
bottom of your php.ini with the new one which will be stored as
php.ini.pacnew
* PHP itself does not have any explicit dependencies, but some extensions will
only work with certain package installed. Those will be displayed during the
installation.
* If you are using any PHP extension from [community] or AUR you will have
to rebuild them against this PHP version. As soon as this package arrives in
[extra], all extensions in [community] will be updated.

Well, you changed this in my.cnf then, right? By defaulkt Arch uses /tmp/mysql.sock (see http://cvs.archlinux.org/cgi-bin/viewcv … vs-markup). Any reason for changing this? In contrast to /tmp /var/tmp is persistent among rebooting.
Anyway: Did this work with the previous version of php? Does phpinfo show your changes to the socket location?
Everything was fine with the previous version. I upgraded to testing version 5.2.4-4 and mysql connection got broken. There's a silly enterprise application we use and if the mysql.sock file is in /tmp it gives security errors. That's why i need to change default config. Below is a screenshot from phpinfo. -
CSS property Inspector shows no properties when inspecting .php file
Hello,
i`m trying to use the new Dreamweaver CS5 ability to inspect files from my joomla CMS. The site is working, has a testing server and i can browse through the site in Live View mode. Also splitscreen with Liva Data and Live View mode is working fine. But when pressing the inspect-button, the single elements are shown in Live View mode (with all the colored padding and margin boxes around each element) but there are NO CSS-properties shown in the CSS properties inspector except for one inline-style: font-size: 100% which one can see as a body-property in live data view.
Is there a error in configuring Dreamweaver or is this problem caused by joomla? There is a video at Adobe-TV in which Dreamweaver manages Wordpress files and works just fine.
Help would be great!

Hi,
I am trying to get mysql and myphpadmin set up on a laptop with lion. When I try to start myphpadmin I get this error "Cannot start session without errors, please check errors given in your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly." From the preference pane for mysql it appears that mysql is working. Can anyone point me in the correct direction on how to solve this? Thanks.That Preference Pane is ancient and decrepit. You need to do a little hacking to setup MySQL properly. See my tutorial for more details.
Basically, you need to get rid of the Preference Pane and startup item
Create a proper launchd config file
Create a MySQL config file that creates a socket where MacOS X PHP expects to find it. -
Currently I'm doing a project that requires to deploy ajax
with a Flash object. I use the fscommand for Flash to communicate
with javascript in order to do the Ajax.
I create a flash file name ask.fla. In the file I make a
button and add the script for it like this:
on(press)
fscommand ("send_var", 1);
I have read in the manual of Flash how to make flash
communicate with javascript, and I have configure the publish
setting of HTML file to run "Flash with FSCommand" .
I have another 2 files namely: ask.php and ask_get.php.
The content of the ask.php file is:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0
Transitional//EN" "
http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="

<title>ask</title>
</head>
<body bgcolor="#ffffff"
onload="makeRequest('ask_get.php','?test=10');">
<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
var isInternetExplorer =
navigator.appName.indexOf("Microsoft") != -1;
// Handle all the FSCommand messages in a Flash movie.
function ask_DoFSCommand(command, args) {
var askObj = isInternetExplorer ? document.all.ask :
document.ask;
alert("HELLO");
var http_request = false;
function makeRequest(url, parameters) {
http_request = false;
if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { // Mozilla, Safari,...
http_request = new XMLHttpRequest();
if (http_request.overrideMimeType) {
http_request.overrideMimeType('text/html');
} else if (window.ActiveXObject) { // IE

http_request = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP");
} catch (e) {
try {
http_request = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
} catch (e) {}
if (!http_request) {
alert('Cannot create XMLHTTP instance');
return false;
http_request.onreadystatechange = alertContents;
http_request.open('GET', url + parameters, true);
http_request.send(null);
function alertContents() {
if (http_request.readyState == 4) {
if (http_request.status == 200) {
result = http_request.responseText;
document.getElementById('myspan').innerHTML = result ;
} else {
alert('There was a problem with the request.');
if (navigator.appName &&
navigator.appName.indexOf("Microsoft") != -1 &&
navigator.userAgent.indexOf("Windows") != -1 &&
navigator.userAgent.indexOf("Windows 3.1") == -1) {
document.write('<script language=\"VBScript\"\>\n');
document.write('On Error Resume Next\n');
document.write('Sub ask_FSCommand(ByVal command, ByVal
args)\n');
document.write(' Call ask_DoFSCommand(command, args)\n');
document.write('End Sub\n');
document.write('</script\>\n');
//-->
</script>
<!--url's used in the movie-->
<!--text used in the movie-->
<div name="myspan" id="myspan"></div>
</body>
</html>
The content of the ask_get.php is:
<object
classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0"
id="ask" width="462" height="410" align="middle">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="movie" value="ask.swf" /><param
name="quality" value="high" /><param name="bgcolor"
value="#ffffff" /><embed src="ask.swf" quality="high"
bgcolor="#ffffff" width="462" height="410" swLiveConnect=true
id="ask" name="ask" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="
http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"
/>
</object>
The purpose of the two file is that when the file ask.php is
called, the code in the even <body onload> will call the
makeRequest function, which replate the <div name="myspan"
id="myspan"> with the code in the file ask_get.php, so that the
flash object is embed indirectly in the file.(but it will be shown,
and some how I use it to make the ajax for the page).
When I run the file ask.php in my webserver in Mozilla
FireFox, it run well, the flash file can call the javascript
function, but when I run the file ask.php in IE, the flash file can
not do anything, it can not call the javascript function.
You can check this by running the file ask.php in both
FireFox and IE in your webserver (IIS or Apache).
If the code to embed the swf object in php file is written
directly in the very php file the swf object can contact with
javascript very well and correctly
, as you can test it by running the file ask1.php in both IE
and FireFox in your webserver (IIS or Apache) , when you click the
button, it will show you the message "HELLO" which is call from a
javascript function.
Here is the code of the file ask1.php, which embed the flash
object directly in the php file and it works well in both FireFox
and IE:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0

The problem is when I call an object by replacing the <div
id=...> with the code for the flash object from the ask_get.php
file, only FireFox can call the javascript but IE does not.
So anyone who know the reason why, please tell me. Thank you
very much.Be sure your HTML wrapper is embedding the flash object correctly in IE. In all other browsers it can be embedded as an object of a specific type. IE has always required a separate install of an activeX with a certain CLSID.
Look up SWFObject and use that to embed your SWF to be sure that it's being embedded properly for each browser, or use the HTML generated by flash and make sure your publish settings that you have "FSCommand" selected in the drop-down so flash can talk to the browser. -

This is basically pretty much pristine copy of 'OS X Lion -> OS X Lion Server' with 'Server.app -> Services -> Web' turned off for the moment. During this testing phase I am only trying '/Library/WebServer/Documents', and not the virtual hosts.
I have the virtual hosts working very well through 'Server.app -> Services -> Web' which like I said above is turned off for the moment. The only problem I ran into there was that '/etc/hosts' was not being modified when a new virtual host was added via 'Server.app -> Services -> Web', but that was under OS X Server Lion 10.7.2, since I created the virtual hosts, I installed the Combo Updater for Lion Server 10.7.3, and I have not tried to create any new virtual hosts since then.
It is interesting that towards the bottom of httpd.conf there are some flags that load different pieces of code depending upon what flags are set. What is even more interesting is that both 'Server.app -> Services -> Web', and 'System Preferences -> Sharing -> Web Sharing' use one common '/etc/apache2/httpd.conf' file, which depending upon which flags are set during Apache startup load different config code. At least I think it is interesting...
These are the flags I noticed in /etc/apache2/httpd.conf

Bill Hernandez
Plano, TexasI've learned some interesting things since I posted the original message on this thread a couple of days ago.
I had looked at the 'Include directives towards the bottom of httpd.conf, and I did a quick search on 'DocumentRoot' and hit the 'previous' button in BBEdit's find dialog. Sure enough it came up with:
DocumentRoot "/Library/WebServer/Documents"
However if I would have started the search from the top of the document I would have noticed that '/var/empty' that I found in the logs was not a bug, not an error, but by design.
If I would have gone a few lines further up I would have seen :
<IfDefine MACOSXSERVER>
DocumentRoot /var/empty
which explains it all. How incredibly cool, this is really clever!
This morning I went back to httpd.conf
sudo open -a /Applications/BBEdit.app /etc/apache2/httpd.conf
and right at the top of the document staring me right in the face was:
# Mac OS X / Mac OS X Server
# The <IfDefine> blocks segregate server-specific directives
# and also directives that only apply when Web Sharing or
# server Web Service (as opposed to other services that need Apache) is on.
# The launchd plist sets appropriate Define parameters.
# Generally, desktop has no vhosts and server does; server has added modules,
# custom virtual hosts are only activated when Web Service is on, and
# default document root and personal web sites at ~username are only
# activated when Web Sharing is on.
Basically on the Lion Server you are not relying on DocumentRoot, everything is done via the VIrtual Hosts in 'Server.app -> Services -> Web'.
The default Virtual Host when you first launch 'Server.app -> Services -> Web' is <whatever_hostname_you_gave_your_computer>.local, and it points to /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/Default, at this point there is no localhost defined as you are used to seeing, there is only /var/empty.
As soon as you create a localhost Virtual host in 'Server.app -> Services -> Web', and the instance of Apache stops and restarts everything works as expected, http://localhost shows a webpage with 'It works!'.
The moral to this whole story is that after having read/modified countless httpd.conf documents, and manually creating the Virtual Hosts, and Includes, and not bothering to read '/etc/apache2/httpd.conf' for Lion Server, it is currently printing and I have my yellow highlighter ready so I can go through it and expand the wisdom level from none to minimal...
I am off to read !
Oh, one thing I did do is drop a copy of a 'local_info.php' that I created that provides some info during testing while I am figuring all this out, but basically the gist is that I put this : <?php echo(__FILE__); ?> along with some other little bits of info anytime the page was hit. I dropped it into several of the virtual hosts I created to make sure I understand how this is all working. -
I have IIS, MySQL, and PHP installed on my local computer
running XP
Pro. All works fine as a testing server in DW CS3. However,
when I try
to start phpMyAdmin I get a red error box that has this
error:
"Cannot start session without errors, please check errors
given in your
PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP
installation properly."
I have the following variables set, but there is no log file
being
produced, so no additional error information.
session.save_path 'C:\WINDOWS\Temp'
error_log c:\php.log
log_errors On
I can run php scripts, but not phpMyAdmin.
I can not think of anything else to do. Ideas?
Thanks,

Thanks Steve. Here is the IIS log when I run

Trying to install php 5 broke my webserver
I wanted to use the image creating GD2 capabilities of php and I heard I had to update the version of php currently used in Mac OS X 10.4.8. So I followed the directions on the site (http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/php/) and downloaded the version 5.0.2 for PPC and Intel for Apache 1.3. I ran the installer. It seemed to run fine.
Since I installed php5, the apache webserver shut down. It will no longer start (either using System Preferences->Sharing or the Terminal command, "sudo apachectl graceful"). I even tried restarting, but the problem persists. I had it up and running fine, hosting my website for several years. When I type "sudo apachectl graceful", I get the following error...
www:/usr/local/php5/bin myusername$ sudo apachectl graceful
Password:
/usr/sbin/apachectl graceful: httpd not running, trying to start
Processing config directory: /private/etc/httpd/users/*.conf
Processing config file: /private/etc/httpd/users/+entropy-php.conf
Processing config file: /private/etc/httpd/users/myusername.conf
/usr/sbin/apachectl: line 193: 321 Bus error $HTTPD
/usr/sbin/apachectl graceful: httpd could not be started
My Configuration
Apache: 1.3.33
Mac OS 10.4.8 with all the software updates run to present (Monday December 18, 2006).
Running on a PPC.
As you can see, I have the latest software and have never installed php before. I have just used the version that came with 10.4.8.
Do you have any idea why my webserver is no longer running after running the php5 installer at that site?
Thank you in advance for any help anyone can give me. If I knew this would happen, I never would have downloaded it. I assumed it would reside safely in its own folder (/usr/local/php5) and not trample my webserver. At this point, I would like to get my webserver back up and running as soon as possible either with or without the php version 5.
Any ideas?I have tried resetting the mysql
password for root following the directions on
mysql.com, but it is not working.
Can you post a link to the page with the directions you used? I messed around with MySQL changing passwords for a bit, though I cheerfully admit I didn't try to reset the root password. But the directions look like they should work the same for any user.
Basically, I followed the last alternative on this page, except that I didn't have to use --skip-grant-tables, instead, I just logged in as the root user. I did the update like they show:
<pre class="command">UPDATE mysql.user SET Password=PASSWORD('newpwd') WHERE user='root';</pre>Except that since I wasn't changing the root user, I used a different username. Then I had to reload the grants tables:
<pre class="command">FLUSH PRIVILEGES;</pre>Once I did that, the new password was good to go.
One thing I found was that I kept mis-typing the password when I tried to log in. Or I'd mis-typed it when I updated the table, so I found that one really handy thing you can do is to look at the password that's stored and compare it to what you might be typing. For example, once I type in the new password ('newpwd', I could look at it like so:
<pre class="command">mysql> select host,user,password from mysql.user;
--------------+------------+------------------
| host | user | password |
--------------+------------+------------------
| localhost | root | 43adcaeb639dab47 |
| 192.168.1.nn | usern01 | 43adcaeb639dab47 |
| localhost | userno2 | 43adcaeb639dab47 |
| localhost | userno3 | 43adcaeb639dab47 |
--------------+------------+------------------
4 rows in set (0.00 sec)</pre>Ordinarily, you'd probably have different passwords there. By itself, the display you see there isn't too helpful. But you can also check your password like this:
<pre class="command">mysql> SELECT PASSWORD('newpWd');
| PASSWORD('newpWd') |
| 43916d0b63bad907 |
1 row in set (0.00 sec)</pre>Notice how it's different just because of the different case of the "W". The difference between a "W" and "w" is pretty obvious, but if you have a "1" or an "l", they can look pretty similar in your password, same thing with "O" and "0".

Php plugin 1.0 for sun java system webserver
Hi,
I installed php plugin 1.0 for sun java system webserver 7. But it supports default 2 DB mysql and postgresql. Can i configure oracle 10g DB support?
Appreciate if you could throw some light on this.
Thanks,
KrishUsing PHP with NSAPI plugin will definitely get you the best performance. However, if you are using PHP with NSAPI plugin enabled then you might have to be careful when you are installing any of the PHP extensions from PECL to make sure that they are thread safe.
Note: There can be a potential issue only when using any of PECL (http://pecl.php.net) extension and not with any PEAR (http://pear.php.net) extensions.
For example, if you PHP built for NSAPI and then using on top of WordPress or Drupal or on top of frameworks like ZF etc should not be a problem
To compile PHP 5.3 with NSAPI, you would do some thing like
./configure --with-nsapi=<web-server7-install-directory>
To compile PHP 5.3 with FastCGI, you would do some thing like
./configure enable-cgi enable-force-cgi-redirect -

Joomla on Sun webserver 7 php safe_mode
Hi,
Trying to install joomla on solaris 10 with sun webserver 7 and mysql. Got php installed and working fine, but when going through the joomla config, it needs safe_mode to be set to Off. However, when I make this change in the php.ini file its not reflected in phpinfo(). Its like its still set to on. I have confirmed that the php.ini settings are being read as other changes are reflected. Just seems to have a problem with this setting. Any ideas?
Thanks,
DarrenI installed php using the phppack and followed the sun docs. sun/webserver7/plugins/php
Also, with suns pack I think safe_mode is On by default from what I can tell.
Thoughts?

Is there a way to parse php from a java program(a webserver for example)
Hellow folks,
I've recieved an assignement for school to develop a java webserver. The http and https webserver that I have written so far works as it should. Now to make it a little bit more impressive, I would have liked that my server is able to interpret php scripts or any other server-side language. I have know idea on how to accomplish this, I both understand java and php but I haven't got a clue on how to integrate the two. I do know that it is possible to run php as a cgi-php-interpreter, in that way I should make a batch, run it and recieve its output. Thats another problem since I have got no idea on how to recieve the outputted data from the batch.
If anyone could tell me how to start at one of the two different approaches I would be gratefull to you.
Thanks in advance
Benjamin SmekensThanks,
Tought about the invokation Runtime.exec(), I know how this works, allready used it, but have no idea on how to return values from a program that you bassicly run on your operating system instead of your own java application. Altough I guess I could use the Runtime.exec() to produce a html file and read that in from my webserver. Then again I didn't find any document which states that its even possible to generate the html, another thing are the passing variables e.g example.php?sfzefszf&&sfefsef. I know you can send those trough the command line php CLI, but the CLI cant generate any html if I'm right.
Anyway any more tips would be greatly appreciated, since I'm kind of stuck on this for one month and a half and read about every document that I could find. There is to read about the subject. -
