Pie chart in combintion with a Slider control in Dashboards 4.0

Hi,
Following the my requirement for creating a dashboard.
1) i have to display employee count for different regions in a pie char for a particular month.
2) This month needs to be selected from a slider control(Horizontal).
3) The slider control needs to show Month and year (MON-YYYY format) for the last 13 months.6 months above the slider and 7 months below the slider.
4) So when a user selects a particular month by dragging to the particular month in slider, then the pie chart should display employee count for the selected month.
5) And Also the slider control by default should show last month employee count in pie chart when the dashboard is opened every time.
So Any body knows how to implement this requirement please send me the solution in a step by step approch.
Thanks in Advance,
Regards,
Nanda Kishore.

Hi,
Set up your data like this
For the months we just use 0 for the selected month and we mark our min & max.
(I just took a few months, just as test, in real, you have to have all your months, off course)
Link the slider component, data to B2, min to B3 and max to B7
Create combobox, link labels to cell B3:B7
setup of data insertion, see screenshot below. (destination: j4:J7)
for behaviour column do as follows...
Your pie chart component
results in
now you have to put some makup on your dashboard, (hide the combobox - hide the values -6,0and 7), create some textcomponents to show the correct months (create a key row (-6 >0>7) and a month-text row), you can use vlookup or via a combobox to fetch the correct month-text
Have fun with it

  • Pie chart labels prepended with "@" symbol

    Hello
    I have a pie chart and it has two values, each of which is a formula
    When I view the Pie chart the Data labels and legend are prefixed with @
    The Data Value formula name is Open Online, so the data lable on the Pie is @Open Online, as it the legend
    It does not look great on the chart
    is there any way to use a forumla as a data value in a chart, but to NOT have the @ symbol as part of the name?
    This chart is developed in Crystal Reports 2008 SP2
    I am using a Pie Chart at the moment, the Pie has 1 On Change Of and 2 Data Values
    Best regards

    I believe if you select the label object on the design page and right-click, you will have the option to edit the label properties.

  • Issues with multilevel pie chart drill down with push button

    I am new to Xcelsius. I am trying to build a multilevel pie chart drill down (one pie chart drilling down to another etc) and I am able to achieve that. Now I want to add a Back Button using Push Button so that I can go up.  When I preview, the Push Button goes into two state and I have to double click to go back.  Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. I am using the latest Xcelsius. [The source code is here|http://www.woofiles.com/dl-195360-3lTyVM8Z-piechartdrilldownwithpushbutton.xlf]
    Thankyou.

    Hi Murali
    This is exactly the same what i tried to do,
    Drill down to 4 levels State -> City-> store etc with 4 pie charts and similar push button to close each level to
    go back to previous chart, first run from 1 to 4 works fine, then after closing all the levels and when i am at the pie chart 1
    if i click any pie slice it will jump to Pie chart 4 straight,
    I tried tracking the issue, all i could find is some how the previous dynamic visibility values are back even after erasing
    the data with the PUSH button (Destination cell insertion with blank or 0).
    did you find a solution for this issue ?
    Thanks

  • JSlider with two slider controls

    I apologise if this is an obvious question, but my searches have not revealed the answers I was looking for.
    I am looking to implement a sort-of JSlider component in an application, which would allow the user to change two controls along the entire length of the slider - i.e. picking a minimum and maximum value. I realise I could do this with two different JSliders, but unless their size changed dynamically, this would be a less intuitive solution.
    If anyone has any ideas of how this might be achieved, I would love to hear. Thank you very much.

    How to do it? Implement your own custom component. You can base it on an assembly of two JSliders if you like, since it would make sense because de facto you have two sliders. It's probably easier than duplicating the innards of a standard JSlider and modifying its renderer.

  • I just want to make a pie chart

    I've been assigned to make a pie chart in class (with each section a different color), and I've loaded the javax.swing.JApplet and java.awt.*
    I've only gotten as far as drawing the circle. I know how to create lines, but I can't figure out what I'm supposed to do to fill in the sections of the pie chart with different colors.
    Could anyone help me with this simple project? Like what method I should look at?

    Have you looked at the link?
    public abstract void fillArc(int x,
                                 int y,
                                 int width,
                                 int height,
                                 int startAngle,
                                 int arcAngle)So, let us guess at how to draw a circle, and 300 x 400, Mmm the x would be 300, and the y 400. It wants to have a radius of 100px, so thats the width & hieght sorted. Do you want it to be a complete circle? If so that is from 0-360 degrees . So that is the start & end angle.
    Actually, do you know draw to the screen?

    Hi
    You can create chart by chart wizard in layout model in report 6i.
    1. Create Query in data model
    2. Go Layout model and right click
    3. Select Chart Wizard then select Chart type
    4. Select Axis (X axis column and Y axis column)
    5. Choose your chart placement

  • Saving individual 3D pie chart slices

    I want to create an animated pie chart...with individual slices appearing one at a time.  I will do the actual annimation outside of Illustrator (likely in Flash or Motion).  The question is...after making a pie chart, can I save each slice as an individual graphic within Illustrator CS4?  Thanks in advance.

    Yes you can create an art board for each slice you can pull them apart with the direct select tool.
    You can the export them as individual files in a variety of ways.
    However this is the kind of thing you can do straight from Illustrator by releasing the art to a layers to a sequence and exporting as a swf and bring that into flash. You can also choose the option to save the Illustrator layers as flash symbols and simply import that file to the Flash Library.

  • Amounts in pie charts.

    Hi there.
    I´m trying to create some pie charts in BIP with MSWord, but I´ve noticed although the source amounts are quantities, only percentages appear in the chart.
    Can somebody tell me?. I´m blocked by now with it.
    Thanks a lot.
    Bye...

    Hi
    So you want to see the actual amount as a label rather than the percentage ?
    <Slice labelPosition="LP_OUTSIDE_WITH_FEELER"/>
    <SliceLabel textType="LD_VALUE"/>
    the second line gets the value.

  • Slider control

    Hello again, i am experimenting with the 'slide control'. In the example I’m looking at there is a slider control which updates a numerical label immediately to the left of the slider on the main view (I’m sure you've all seen this before). It’s part of another newbie iphone program taken from another book, and one particular line of code is confusing me. It's within the slider action method, and within this list of commands is some kind of cast command? I understand how casting works with commands like
    int t= (int) floatValue/7; // sort of thing...
    but how does the command (in bold) work?
    -(IBAction) sliderChanged:(id)sender {
    *UISlider *slider =(UISlider )sender;
    int progressAsInt =(int)(slider.value+0.5f);
    NSString *newText = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"%d",progressAsInt];
    sliderLabel.text =newText;
    [newText release];
    }

    First of all, always wrap source code in two lines of:
    like so:
    -(IBAction) sliderChanged:(id)sender {
    UISlider *slider =(UISlider *)sender;
    int progressAsInt =(int)(slider.value+0.5f);
    NSString *newText = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"%d",progressAsInt];
    sliderLabel.text =newText;
    [newText release];
    Since id is the base class of all Objective-C objects, and since you know that any slider action is going to be passed the slider itself as the sender, you can just cast the id into a UISilder. There is actually less going on here than in your first cast example. When you cast from a float to a int, you actually change the value. When you cast from one pointer type to another, no code change takes place - it is all in the compiler.

  • Converting a pie chart to an object that is merged?

    I have created a simple pie chart as shown below (a) and in the end want it to look like a pie chart with a hollow hole in it (b).
    However, the pathfinder's minus front tool only works with 2 objects.
    The pie chart data consists of two pieces (dark teal and green). How do I merge /unite these two objects? I get an error mainly because they are not overlapping.
    (a)(b)

    Rather than physically bashing a hole through your pie chart, do it with a clipping mask like Mylenium suggests.
    The mask should be a compound path; a large circle or rectangle that completely covers the pie and a second smaller circle for the ‘hole’.
    Make a compound path of these two and apply it as a clipping mask to the pie.
    This way the pie chart remains editable.

  • Pie Chart with Legend

    Hey Experts,
    I have a small issue but cannot seem to find the solution. I have a pie chart with legends which I want to show side by side (horizontally). First pie chart and then legends. My requirement is that when the window is resized, the pie chart should also resize. I am able to show the chart and legends horizontally but when the legends list is long, the pie chart is always aligned in the center vertically. I tried setting all properties such as verticalAlign = "top", verticalCenter = "false", tried putting pie chart and legends in a separate VBox but nothing seems to work. Below is the code snippet.
    I believe others would have faced this problem. Can someone help?
    <mx:HBox width="100%" height="100%" verticalAlign="top" verticalCenter="false">
         <mx:VBox width="100%" verticalAlign="top" verticalCenter="false">
              <mx:PieChart id="pieChart" width="100%" height="100%" showDataTips="true" minWidth="200" minHeight="200" verticalCenter="false"/>
         </mx:VBox>
         <mx:VBox width="100%" verticalAlign="top" verticalCenter="false">
              <mx:Legend width="100%" height="100%" dataProvider="{pieChart}"/>
         </mx:VBox>
    </mx:HBox>

    Hi Dajji,
    Here is the code which resolves the problem...
    Note: In the code below I have removed the percentage width and height for PieChart.....that resolves the problem.....but the thing here is as you resize
    your browser window the piechart width and height will not change accordingly...? Do you need PieChart to change its dimensions as your browser window
    resizes...???
    However if you specify width="100%" and height="100%" for PieChart you never gonna acheive the PieChart to be vertically alined to top.....why because
    as you specified width="100%" and height="100%" for PieChart it occupies the total dimensions of the VBox but the actual visible portion dimensions are
    less... because within the VBox you also have the legends so Flex will assign the sizes proportionately....for PieChart and Legends..
    Hope you got my point...So you should remove the width="100%" and height="100%" for PieChart then you can acheive what you needed...

  • Pie chart With one value

    Hello Experts,
    I am new to apex.
    I want to plot a pie chart with only one value.
    that one value should look like a one slice in the pie chart.
    I tried it, but it showing as entire pie chart as one value.
    So Please help me in this regard.
    Its very urgent.
    Please.

    Hi,
    Try creating the entire chart using custom XML and PL-SQL, it will give you full control over the sql and xml . Take look at this thread Re: Help Needed : Changing the Color of Bar Graph Dynamically , Change the data_plot_settings to line and you can refer to the http://www.anychart.com/products/anychart/docs/xmlReference/index.html for more detail on the tags and syntax. Thanks.

  • I have no idea how to set up a pie chart for tracking spending with categories

    This is what I want to do to help me track my credit card spending.
    I want to make a Numbers sheet where i can jot down how much money i spent on a item, and what category that item would go with (example, food, electronics, gas, so on).
    and then i want to have a pie chart that will show much how much money i'm spending in each category and how much of a percentage of the total each category takes up of the whole.
    I have no idea how to set this up in a sheet. I tried typing it in a few times and every time i go to make a pie chart, it never shows me any of the results i want to see.
    can someone please help me set up a sheet to be able to get this information to display correctly in a pie chart?

    Brad,
    Create a table with the categories and the data (for now you can make up the data):
    Now add a chart from the Charts menu in the toolbar:
    Now click the "Add Chart Data" button just below the chart.
    Now select data (from column B) in the table.  Last trick is to click the menu at the bottom-left corner of the window and change the selection to "Plot rows as series" :
    Now add formulas to the table to properly summarize the data from your data entry table using the sumif() function.

  • How to limit data range in a Line chart with Time Refresh Control

    Hi All,
    I have a Line chart with Time Refresh Control and I would like to make some constraints to this navigation.
    For example, I would like to limit the user to navigate in a data range of 8 hours.
    Is this posible?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Pedro,
    as far as I know, this is not possible using the time controls on an iChart. However, you may have some success by using your own time controls which call JavaScript methods exposed by the applet.
    For example, you could begin by hiding the time and calendar buttons on an iChart, and creating some buttons of your own. For instance, to set the start date of a query (and thus the start date of the iChart using the query), you can use the following:
    document.getElementById("appletID").getQueryObject().setStartDate(<date string>);
    Using code like the above (look into the xMII script assistant and documentation), you should be able to build time controls which satisfy your requirements. The exact format of <date string> in the sample above will depend on the date format defined in the query template this script calls.
    Hope this helps,
    Sascha

  • Can you manually advance a Captivate slide presentation with a remote control and a projector.

    I have published a large volument of PowerPoint presentations with Captivate 5.0 and intend to distribute the presentations to live instructors as a means to control content delivered live by instructors to the students.  The files are aggregrated into groups of lessons and published to PDF with a Table of Contents.
    We need to avoid manually advancing the show from the laptop.
    Having difficulty determining how to use remote control via laptop and projector to advance the next slide or presentation. Can't get it to work. Was able to do so previously with PowerPoint slides converted to PDF shows. Remotes/Laser pointers worked fine. But now that I have processed the shows through Captivate 5.0 can seem to find a remote that will work with the new PDF or SWF with our systems.
    We use a laptop and projection system, so need to be able to advance the show to the next "slide" manually and are trying to figure out how to do it with a remote control.
    Has anyone else experienced this challenge and did you find a solution?.

    Hi Carey,
    if you can apply the letter "A" for "next" to your remote control?
    Then you could add a shortcut to your buttons in the captivate file.
    In deapth:
    Go to a PPT importet slide (using the "click mouse" option to continue".
    Click somewhere in the screen (clickbox_xx will be selected).
    Properties - Action - Shortcut. Click it and press "A".
    Click somewhere on the stage.
    Now when you press your next button on the remote, Captivate will receive an "A" and continue to the next slide.
    Hope this helps
    Best
