Ping failure

Hi All,
I have a an issue which i think/hope is an easy one but i cannot see it. hopefully i am missing something obvious:
A device (music player: 10.1.47.251) in a remote site is not responding to ping from our head office.
the device responds ok from the router and from within the remote lan
if i try and ping from the local router to the device and set the source as Dialer0 (internet) the ping fails
If i try and ping the device from head office it fails
If i try and ping 10.1.47.250 (a pc in same remote lan connected to same switch) from head office it responds ok
I have connected the music device directly to the router and to the switch but behaviour is the same no matter which device it is connected to.

Hi Jawad,
Thanks for your response. Unfourtunately i do not think this is the issue.
Access-list 103 is an acl for a VPN to a third party support partner. It is not related to Head Office traffic.
Access-list 102 is the access list for the VPN from Head Office to remote site and is the acl of interest here.
Access-list 102 is configured correctly and this is borne out by the fact i can ping 10.1.47.250 (but not 251)
thanks again
Brendan

  • IP SLA EEM to reload router after ping failure

    Hi,
I have created the below configuration but it seems to be failing to trigger the reload. Anybody can please comment what is missing here?
track 1 ip sla 10 reachability
delay down 180 up 40  ***** this is in sec - since ping freq is 10 sec , after 18 ping failure and 3 mnts track reachability will be down - it will wait 40 sec before declaring UP *****
    ip sla 10
    icmp-echo 172.20.20.153
threshold 450  **** in millisec it is threshold value - no action will be taken ****
timeout 500  **** in millisec it is icmp timeout *****
    frequency 10  *** icmp ping every 10 sec *****
ip sla schedule 10 life forever start-time now
    event manager applet Router-Reload
    event track 1 state down
action 1.0 syslog msg "Reply timed out; Router will Reload"
    action 1.1 cli command "enable"
    action 1.2 cli command "reload"

    It worked. Thanks Joseph.
So what was the issue with my approach. Is it the sequence number?

  • Face intermittent ping failure

Hi Guys, i face intermittent ping failure to a server which is monitor using IP Sentry. But when i do a sh logging buffer on my 6509 switch, i nvr see the port which is connected to the server "leaves". Does that means that the physical connectivity is still there but somehow we just lose the net connection.
I've also sh counters on the port, it state 25 linkchange. but i cant seems to look for the date/time it has linkchange.
Are there any other more commands to troubleshoot this issue.
Pls advise on this.. need help badly

When you know that the linkstate-changecount was 25, you can deduct that the link has stayed up when the counter still reads 25 at any given later time.
Please do a sh int or show port and verifiy your speed/duplex settings. This command will also give you the amounts of errored frames. Check these for changes, if they increase rapidly, you probably have a cabling problem or some other layer2 issue.
Furthermore, you should inspect the data-path between the NMS and the server.
    Regards,
    Leo

  • Cisco 3750 ping failures after stack upgrade

I just updated my 4 stack of 3750X switches from 12.x IOS to 15.0.2 IOS. Only 2 of them updated correctly the first time, I had to manually update to the other 2. After getting all of them upgrade I restarted the entire stack.
After that I cannot get PCs not on my default VLAN to talk to their DHCP servers or ping anywhere in the network. I get a "PING: transmit failed. General failure". I can however, ping into my default vlan from the switch and ping out to other locations from the switch.
    I've tried the following:
Checking firewall status on several (WIN 7) pc's, it's off
Changing ports on switch (no change)
    Restarting the PC (no change)
    Release/renew ipconfig (no change)
    flushdns (no change)
    clear ARP table on switch
set un-set spanning-tree portfast (no change)
check interface status (up and up)
check vlan interface status (up and up)
    changed vlans (no change)
checked VLAN help addresses (still there)
Any help at this point is appreciated as my network is entirely down right now.

I can set my laptop statically to a VLAN address, and I can ping out, get to the internet, ping between VLANs, etc. But if I just set a port (or leave it in the default VLAN) it will give me the “PING: transmit failed. General failure.” DHCP requests still aren’t getting fulfilled and even pings won’t go through if there’s not a statically set address. Nothing changed on my server configs and I even restarted my DHCP servers after encountered this problem. My guess is this is a new feature that’s turned on by default in the new IOS that needs to be disabled. Any help is appreciated.

  • EEM config to monitor ping failure

    Hello All,
    Excellent forum...
I'm hoping someone can help me with my configuration...
I'm looking at setting up EEM on my switch to basically bounce a few selected ports once their is an ICMP failure.
Ideally i'll be conected to the device being monitored, and once their is a failure (ICMP failure), I'll like to trigger a reset on a few ports on the switch .
Anyt help would be greatly appreciated.
    B.K

You can use IP SLA, object tracking, and EEM for this.  For example:
    ip sla 1
    icmp-echo 10.1.1.1
ip sla schedule 1 life forever start now
track 1 ip sla 1 reachability
    event manager applet ping-watch
    event track 1 state down
    action 1.0 cli command "enable"
action 2.0 cli command "config t"
    action 3.0 cli command "int range gi0/1 - 4"
    action 4.0 cli command "shut"
    action 5.0 cli command "end"

  • Again:Ping failed: Sun Application Server 8

    Hi,
My Sun application server could not start its shows this
    ...Ping failed..
    Possible reasons include:
    -Port conflict
-Incorrect server configuration ( domain.xml to be corrected manually )
-Corrupted Deployed application preventing the server to start ( This can be seen in server.log file. In this case, domain.xml needs to be modified )
    How domain.xml can be modified?
Please tell a way to get rid of Ping failure..............

    Hi,
The steps for backing up database are:
    1)shutdown pointbase server
2)backup all database files using OS utilities like copy (e.g., files are usually in SunAppserver8/pointbase/databases/)
    3)restart pointbase server
The bundled Pointbase database is for development only, so we do not provide support for functions that are needed in a production environment, such as backup processes.
Pointbase does include nonstandard SQL commands that enable backing up a running database, and backing up or restoring specified tables. You can contact Pointbase directly at pointbase.com for trial downloads and developer documentation.
    Thanks,
    Creator Team.

  • Cannot ping local computer(s)

I have an Asus laptop with wired and wireless cards. Remote connections on wireless work fine. However, for about 2 weeks I have not been able to ping the computers on my LAN, although they can ping each other without problem. The laptop can ping itself. I have run all the usual diagnostics. One curious thing is happening. The original static IP of my laptop was 192.168.0.4. When I changed this to 192.168.0.2 in my rc.conf, the IP address reverts back to 192.168.0.4 after using the Wicd Network Manager (by "revert back" I mean what is showing both in GUI and after running ifconfig). This itself however is not causing the ping failure.
About 2 weeks I also installed Firestarter, having run my wireless connections (briefly) without any kind of firewall. Although I allowed connections to both of the other computers on my LAN, I was not able to ping, and subsequently removed Firestarter and iptables (pacman -Rns), which however did not fix the connectivity problem. My suspicion is that somewhere there is a configuration file which is messed up, but I haven't a clue which. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Thea

Thanks for your reply, rickdg! Having conducted quite a few web searches on this problem I know that it does not elicit many responses.
My LAN consists of three computers: 192.168.0.4 -- my laptop
192.168.0.6 -- my regular work computer
                                                              192.168.0.7 -- my server
as well as a printer:                           192.168.0.5
all connected with a switch (Syslink SD205)
The ping problem is from either .6 or .7 to the laptop (.4), and vice-versa. It's as if there is something in .4 which is blocking all net traffic, both in and out. Between .6 and .7 it is fine, i.e. pinging works as expected.
In addition, I have a NetComm HSPA Wifi Router with the IP address of 192.168.0.3 which I currently use with my laptop only (wlan0 is statically set at 192.168.0.4). As far as I can tell, there are no DHCP leasing problems. When using the Wifi router, I am not connected to my LAN (although I would like to be), so the ping failure occurs when I use Wicd to disconnect from the wireless net and connect to the wired net. However the problem also has nothing to do directly with Wicd, since my default setting is the wired net, and on booting up and even before starting X, pinging to and from .4 is impossible ("Destination Host Unreachable"). And finally yes I did reset my router's IP address -- it was originally 192.168.1.1. When I got the wireless and set it up, I had no problems whatsoever with my wired network connections, disconnecting and connecting from and to the wireless net as needed. It was only after installing Firestarter that I got the ping problem from the laptop (which is the only computer I installed it on). Unfortunately, I just moved, so in the past two weeks I have not had the opportunity to determine exactly when the problem first occurred, or what exactly might have caused.
    Thanks again,
    Thea

  • Nexus ping drops

    Hi,
We have a nexus 5k acting as core in one of our sites.
Problem:- When a user connects himself to nexus 2k port, the connectivity suddenly drops & ping message are gone with either destination host uncreachable or ping failure messages.
This has been observer on many users.

    Appreciate all help!

    Hi,
Depending upon which Nexus platform and which NX-OS version you're running, it's quite possibly the Control Plane Policing (CoPP) feature, introduced in NX-OS 5.1(3)N1(1), that's causing the drops.
You can see if that's the case using the show policy-map interface control-plane and look for incrementing violations in the class that matches ICMP. There's a fair amount of information in the output so I find the quickest way to spot this is using the show policy-map interface control-plane | in "class|violate" command and look for a non zero value. Assuming the default configuration, on the Nexus 5000 this will be the copp-system-class-icmp-echo
You can find further information about CoPP in the Configuring Control Plane Policing section of the Nexus 5000 Security Configuration Guide.

  • Connected to Internet, but cannot ping ANYTHING

One of my company's customers has an issue with their windows 7 machine that I have been trying to help him solve to no avail.
The problem began when he was suddenly unable to use certain functionality of our software several days ago- having changed nothing that he was aware of on his computer. Though his computer is connected to the internet, and he can browse the web, send email,
etc, he is unable to connect to our SQL server, and though he is able to connect to our FTP server, he is unable to upload or download files from it.
To begin diagnosing the problem, I had him perform a ping test. First to our SQL server, which failed, then to our ftp server, also failed, then to google.com, which failed, then to his router, which also failed. Of all the ping tests performed, the ONLY
one that gets a response is when he pings localhost or 127.0.0.1. The nature of the ping failure is four: "The Request Timed Out" messages.
I logged into his router and was able to successfully perform all ping tests through the router ping tool. I had him log into another computer on his network, and all ping tests worked from that computer.
He had the following software installed: Windows Firewall, SpyBot, cCleaner, Windows Security Essentials, MalwareBytes and AVG toolbar. I uninstalled all of these except for Windows Security Essentials, disabled the windows firewall and rebooted, but the
    problem remains.
Rebooting in "safe mode with networking" had different results. Instead of the timeout error he just gets "Ping request could not find host... please check the name and try again".
He does not have a proxy or any other complicated network setup.
His HOSTS file is in the default state, however there are a number of renamed HOSTS files in the same directory, one of which appears to have been generated by SpyBot, and has hundreds of entries, but it is renamed to HOSTS.OLD.
My hunch is that some software on his computer did something to block certain types of network communication, including ping and that uninstalling that software did not revert those settings, but of course I can't be sure of that.
Any ideas on what could be causing this issue, and/or how to resolve it?

    1. I have the same experience with SpyBot. It creates hosts file entries and make the response much slower.
    2. To have so many AV programs on single computer is counterproductive.
    3. I would avoid using cCleaner based on my bad experience.
    4. With ping you can test the connectivity and connectivity with name resolution. The necessary condition is that the path and target computers allow for ping. (FW allows for it.). Use nslookup to check the DNS.
    5. Use network monitor to resolve your problem. Without more detailed information on packets flowing in your network it is not possible to find the cause of troubles. Wireshark will do the job. If you feel like not to analyze logs from network monitor, upload
    log file and share URL.
    6. Appropriate ports should be opened. Scarce information is given on SQL and FTP connection. (These ports belong to notorious attacked ones. )
    Regards
    Milos

  • Page error causes server to crash

These are the symptoms: we start loading a page and Oracle launches a process that hogs as much CPU as it can, slowing everything on the server to a near standstill. If we don't catch it within about 5 minutes, we cannot even log on to kill the process. Within a short space of time the OS is paging like crazy, and within about 10 minutes the 4GB of physical memory and 8GB of swap is all used up. The page never loads, and a few minutes after starting to load the page we get a 404 error. What happens after the available memory falls to zero is unpredictable but never good.
Our APEX/Oracle environment is as follows:
    Product Build: 3.0.0.00.20
    Language Preference: en-gb
    NLS_CHARACTERSET: WE8ISO8859P1
    DAD CHARACTERSET: ISO-8859-1
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - 64bit
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
    CORE 10.2.0.1.0 Production
TNS for Linux: Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
OS: Red Hat Linux ES4 64bit
First, I have to hold my hands up and say that it's always caused by an error that we have made, but often these are relatively trivial errors on the page that APEX will either gloss over or handle correctly 99 times out of a hundred (and certainly nothing obvious like an infinite loop). These kinds of problems also occur very rarely (thankfully), but what gets me is why the result is quite so catastrophic. I should also say that we're talking about a development environment containing very little data - the example we tested is a page with 3 report regions each based on fewer than 100 rows of data, comprising around 20 numeric columns, some dates, flags and audit information.
What I'm keen to understand is whether this is a consequence of Oracle misconfiguration, or if there is anything else (other than never making any coding errors) that we can do to stop this from happening.
These are examples of the kinds of errors that have that lead to the above symptoms (although not necessarily to the output listed below):
    1. Deleting a page item that a PL/SQL function within a page region references, without removing that reference. Mostly APEX will ignore such errors, treating the item value as null, but the difference seems to be where the item had a value in session state, and we did nothing to clear it after deleting the page item, although I suspect that this isn't the whole story, as this scenario doesn't predictably lead to the problem we're occasionally seeing.
    2. Returning SQL from a PL/SQL function that did not correspond either with the report template in use (for example dummy SQL (within an error block) that doesn't match the report template we're using (for example a column needed for conditional row formatting is missing)), or with the report definition (numbers and attributes of columns displayed - sorry I can't be very specific on this score, but in these cases deleting and recreating the report region with the same source has cured it).
    3. Other errors in the region PL/SQL source, such as referring to the wrong package when declaring a type, causing a type mismatch error.
The latest page we had this problem with was returning SQL from a packaged PL/SQL function, in which creating a SQL block had thrown a 'character string buffer too small' error, and returned a dummy SQL string that did not contain a header column referenced in the report template, although some supposition has gone into that, as the focus was more on fixing the problem than pinning down its exact cause.
The Apache logs don't tell us a great deal, other than that the server is in a great deal of trouble. There is nothing to indicate the start of the problem, but after a while we gets lots of entries like this:
[<date/time>] [warn] [client <ip>] mod_plsql: Long running URL [pls/htmldb/wwv_flow.accept] timed out
    Later we get lots of:
    [<date/time>] [error] [client <ip>] [ecid: 1248707261:<ip>:24047:0:1,0] mod_plsql: /pls/htmldb/f HTTP-503 ORA-3113
    And a few:
[<date/time>] [warn] [client <ip>] [ecid: 1248707264:<ip>:24081:0:1,0] mod_plsql: DMS Logging: Unable to read data from <Apache path>/Apache/modplsql/cache/modplsql.lck

On the database side, it's difficult for us to figure out what's happening, but it looks like APEX is trying to run an error-handling routine, which makes sense, but it does appear to be locked into a try-fail-retry cycle. We loaded an APEX page that had previously exhibited those symptoms with the DBAs running a trace, and the highlights of the TKPROF output were:
    This SQL: SELECT MESSAGE_TEXT, DECODE(MESSAGE_LANGUAGE,LOWER(NVL(:B3 ,:B2 )),1,0)
    MESSAGE_ORDER
    FROM
    WWV_FLOW_MESSAGES$ WHERE SECURITY_GROUP_ID = 10 AND (MESSAGE_LANGUAGE =
    LOWER(NVL(:B3 ,:B2 )) OR MESSAGE_LANGUAGE = LOWER(SUBSTR(NVL(:B3 ,:B2 ),1,2)
    )) AND NAME = UPPER(:B1 ) ORDER BY 2 DESC
was run approx 45,000 times, returning no rows.
    This SQL: SELECT MESSAGE_TEXT, DECODE(MESSAGE_LANGUAGE,LOWER(NVL(:B5 ,:B4 )),1,0)
    MESSAGE_ORDER
    FROM
    WWV_FLOW_MESSAGES$ WHERE FLOW_ID = NVL(:B7 , :B6 ) AND (MESSAGE_LANGUAGE =
    LOWER(NVL(:B5 ,:B4 )) OR MESSAGE_LANGUAGE = LOWER(SUBSTR(NVL(:B5 ,:B4 ),1,2)
    )) AND SECURITY_GROUP_ID = DECODE(NVL(:B2 ,0),0,:B3 ,:B2 ) AND NAME =
    UPPER(:B1 ) ORDER BY 2 DESC
was also run approx 45,000 times, returning no rows.
    This SQL: SELECT M.MESSAGE_TEXT
    FROM
    WWV_FLOW_MESSAGES$ M, WWV_FLOWS F WHERE M.NAME = UPPER(:B2 ) AND
    M.MESSAGE_LANGUAGE = F.FLOW_LANGUAGE AND F.ID = :B1 AND M.SECURITY_GROUP_ID
    = 10
was also run approx 45,000 times, returning no rows.
This SQL: SELECT DECODE(MESSAGE_LANGUAGE,'en-us',0,1) WEIGHT, MESSAGE_TEXT
    FROM
    WWV_FLOW_MESSAGES$ WHERE NAME = UPPER(:B1 ) AND SECURITY_GROUP_ID = 10 ORDER
    BY 1 ASC
was also run approx 45,000 times, returning 1 row per execution.
    This SQL: SELECT PLUG_SOURCE
    FROM
    WWV_FLOW_PAGE_PLUGS WHERE ID = :B1
was run nearly 13,000 times, returning 1 row per execution.
    This SQL: SELECT USER_ID
    FROM
    SYS.ALL_USERS WHERE USERNAME = UPPER(:B1 )
was run nearly 6,500 times, returning no rows.
    This SQL: SELECT MESSAGE
    FROM
WWV_FLOW_DEBUG WHERE ID = :B1 ORDER BY SEQ
was also run nearly 6,500 times, returning no rows.
And so it goes on. Later we have:
    SELECT ID, CURRENT_TAB, CURRENT_TAB_FONT_ATTR, NON_CURRENT_TAB,
    NON_CURRENT_TAB_FONT_ATTR, CURRENT_IMAGE_TAB, NON_CURRENT_IMAGE_TAB,
    TOP_CURRENT_TAB, TOP_CURRENT_TAB_FONT_ATTR, TOP_NON_CURRENT_TAB,
    TOP_NON_CURRENT_TAB_FONT_ATTR, HEADER_TEMPLATE, BOX, FOOTER_TEMPLATE,
    NAVIGATION_BAR, NAVBAR_ENTRY, SUCCESS_MESSAGE, BODY_TITLE, MESSAGE,
    TABLE_BGCOLOR, TABLE_CATTRIBUTES, REGION_TABLE_CATTRIBUTES, HEADING_BGCOLOR,
    FONT_SIZE, FONT_FACE, APP_TAB_BEFORE_TABS, APP_TAB_CURRENT_TAB,
    APP_TAB_NON_CURRENT_TAB, APP_TAB_AFTER_TABS, NVL(DEFAULT_BUTTON_POSITION,
    'TOP') DEFAULT_BUTTON_POSITION
    FROM
    WWV_FLOW_TEMPLATES WHERE ID = :B1
executing nearly 6,500 times and returning 1 row per execution.
and the same for this SQL: SELECT ERROR_PAGE_TEMPLATE
    FROM
    WWV_FLOW_TEMPLATES WHERE ID = NVL(:B3 ,NVL(:B2 ,:B1 ))
Later we have some very obscure-looking data dictionary lookups.
I'd be interested to know if anyone has any thoughts on what might be occurring, or what other information I should obtain to provide clues as to what is going wrong.
    Many thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    John.

  • MacBook Air loses connection to internet but not LAN

Hi, I am using a MacBook Air 11" (mid-2012) running OS X Mavericks (10.9.3). I'm connecting to my home LAN via WiFi connection to a TP-Link 300M Wireless router that is setup as a switch (per instructions here http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=417), which in turn is connected via wire (ethernet-over-power) to a Technicolor cable modem/router provided by my ISP (UPC in the Netherlands; I can look up the model number of the router if needed, but it's two floors down right now and doesn't strike me that this is the cause of the problem).
I have a problem that my MacBook Air intermittently loses connectivity to the internet for extended periods (minutes) even though (a) the MacBook Air maintains full connectivity to my LAN at the same time through WiFi and (b) other computers connected to the cable modem/router maintain their connection to the internet while my MacBook Air has lost its connection.
My test to see where the breakdown is occurring is to have four terminal windows up and running ping processes:
    1) ping to 192.168.0.1 (my router) - this always stays live, with essentially no lost packets
    2) ping to an external address (I'm using 74.125.136.94, a google.nl address) - this is my main test for access to the internet and where I see ping failures (I'm also testing with pings to other sites when the problem is occurring to ensure it's not something on the remote end).
    3) ping to 192.168.0.13, which is a Synology NAS attached via ethernet cable to my main cable modem/router - this always stays live, with essentially no lost packets.
    4) a login to the Synology NAS, where I am also running a continual ping to 74.125.136.94, and this external ping does NOT fail when the one from my MacBook Air does, it stays live with essentially no lost packets.
The problem will usually correct itself after 1-3 minutes (though the time is not consistent), and also gets corrected if I turn the MacBook Air's WiFi off and on again.
Any suggestions for what I can do to stop this problem?
    Thanks
    John

    > 1. If the MBA is connected to the
    >     a. the Technicolor SSIDs, is the behavior the same (poziom-k testing shows that a second AP causes problems).
No. If connected to WiFI served by Technicolor, the problem does not occur (even if the other AP is connected to the network).
    >     b. can the Technicolor be replaced easily by an Airport Express/Extreme, to repeat this test?
Unfortunately, Technicolor in router mode is required by my ISP.
    > 2. Instead of WiFi, if the MBA is cabled to the secondary AP, is the behavior the same?
    Yes.
    > 3. Has Wireless RF interference been ruled out for dropped connections?
Yes. A Windows machine and several iOS mobile devices work flawlesly for me.
    > 4. If the MBA has a wired connection to the Technicolor, does the problem still exist?
No. The problem occurs only if connected through additional AP.
    > 5. Have packets been captured at each interesting point in the topology to see where are packets drops occurring? netstat -s is probably worth looking at > such points. Wireshark (or similar tools) can help.
Not yet. I will not have a chance to do it for the next few days though :/

  • Potential TCP/IP bug

    Hey guys,
Some weird issue going on with mid 2012 11" MacBook Air with 10.8. Lets start with the topology:
    - MacBook Air connected to TP-LINK access point
    - access point connected to unmanaged switch
    - unmanaged switch is also connected to a Windows Server 2008 R2 with Exchnage 2010 box and a Unix firewall
    - Unix firewall is the DNS server for all devices and forwards request to ISP's box. Firewall also acts as the gateway and has a PPoE client which dials a TP-LINK ADSL2+ modem in bridged mode
    so, MBA-->switch-->unix fw/gw-->modem bridge mode-->ISP
    Here are the symptoms:
    - MBA with 10.7 able to continously ping google.com and internal Exchnage server
    - iPhone and iPad able to do the same
    - Once upgraded to 10.8, MBA sometime uses a self-assigned IP (169.254.x.x) where renew DHCP lease does not chahnge, the only way to fix is to disable wifi and re-enable
    - Most of the time MBA will hang on safari/firefox and will not load Google, Apple, Facebook etc., only occasionly will it work. When it works, it works fast with my 17Mbps connection. In addition I will get 50 ping failures to the Exchnage box, maybe 4 succesful pings, then another 20 failures. No pattern, but I would say 90% failures, 10% successfulls
    - At the time when it does not connect, I am not able to ping the websites mentioned, host not found or if the host is cached, it will show ping failures to that website
    - To further test, I loaded Windows 7 on VMware Fusion with Unity mode. I had the Windows command prompt right next to the Mac terminal. ping -t google.com from command prompt will ping succesfully, no failures, at the same time we get 90-100% failures on the Mac side
So I called up AppleCare, the agent suggested to rename /Library/Prefrences/SystemConfiguration/ to SystemConfigurationOld. After restart we get 10% failures with ping to the Exchnage and above mentioned site. After 10 mins, it goes back to the above behaviour with 90-100% failure. The whole time the Windows 7 side works fine, as well as iPhone, iPad and IBM work laptop.
AppleCare escalated to senior engineer. We restarted with the option key and booted in to the 10.8 version of recovery partition. Same issue with safari where it will hang on the websites, only occasionally work. We then restarted to internet recovery partition which loaded 10.7 recovery as the MBA was originally 10.7. From 10.7 recovery, there are NO issues. Websites load 100% of the time and pings to the Exchange server as well as google.com etc 100% successful. Senior enginner has escalted to US engineer (I'm guessing a dev) and I'm waiting for a call back).
I'm tempted to revert back to 10.7, but this really needs to be addressed.

I'm also seeing this issue on my Macbook Air 11" mid 2012 with OSX 10.8.3.
I've had several calls to Apple support and we went through the same things as you mention to no avail but now they tell me to just take it in for hardware diags.
I'm seeing upwards of 20% loss of pings to a local host but interestingly when I simultaneously ping the MBA from that host on my network it always works.  When I run Wireshark or the internal sniffer on the MBA it shows no returning ICMP reply.
I've tried running Linux in Virtualbox and it works perfectly all the time.
I'd be very interested to hear how/if you resolved the issue.

  • CSS Load Balancing

I am new to CSS. I have CSS 1150 with IOS 7.3. I want to load balancing two servers 192.168.210.55 and 192.168.210.56 on port 80.
My CSS is connected in single arm configuration. Core switch is dong the Inter VLAN routing and CSS is connected in the VLAN 200 access Port.
Servers and CSS are connected to same Layer 3 switch.
CSS is in VLAN 200  (192.168.200.10)
    Servers are in VLAN 210
Below is the configuration of my CSS

Thanks for the reply, But I have modified my configuration. Now I am load balancing VLAN 200 Servers where the CSS also located in the same VLAN. Attach is the updated configuration.
I can only ping the VIP but not able to telnet on VIP (192.168.200.65 80).

  • SAP FQN locations

Is there a note or a document that documents all the places where SAP stores Fully Qualified Names and/or protocols?  For example if I am connected via sapgui for windows and run a transaction like PAL my browser is opened with a URL generated (at least partially) by profile parameter icm/host_name_full.  I think there are ABAP transactions that initiate java side URls.  I don't remember where that is defined.
I am trying to customize E2E diagnostics but the application keeps dropping the URL prefix I start with and supplying its own.
For example if I start with https://my.fully.qualified.hostname:5xx01  As I navagate through the E2E dialogs the protocol, the hostname and the port switch numerous times.  The development team should learn how to run http proxies!
PS: Is there any way to coerse the application  NOT to resolve host names?  I keep seeing SMD agents cycle between connecting to host my.fully.qualifies.hostname and then getting ping failure to my's internal IP number.  Doesn't SAP use firewalls and understand private IP numbers?

Yes, you can define the hostnames and and HTTP port number in the table - HTTPURLLOC.
And also check the table RSPOR_T_PORTAL
