Pinnacle dazzle digital video creator 90

Someone just gave me this to put videos from my HI8 video camera onto iMovie 6 and iMovie can't recognize the camera when it's pluged in. It's called pinnacle dazzle digital video creator 90. I'm not sure if it's because it uses USB or what. If its because it dosn't work on mac, I have virtual pc. Is there any way I can put it on there and then transfer it onto my mac?
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, if it can only transfer via USB then it can't, if you see what I mean.
You need firewire to do this, and an analogue to digital converter, such as, for example, the Canopus ADVC 110.

  • Dazzle Video Creator Platinum HD for Mac

I have just purchased Dazzle Video Creator Platinum HD after being advised to get it by a staff member at an Apple shop.  When it was delivered it states on the pack it is only compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP.  I don't have parallels on my mac and was hoping I could load dazzle without purchasing parallels and windows.  I dont want to unpack Dazzle and try as I may not get a refund.   Can you advise if Dazzle is compatible with Mac OSX 10.6.3 and if not what I should do to be able to use Dazzle on my MAC?
    Thanks

Well, your MacBook Pro should have iMovie already installed, and that along with an analog to digital convertor is all you really need.
If you get yourself a Digital8 camcorder (I have a Sony one) you can connect the "iLink port" to your MacBook Pro with a FireWire cable, and then iMove can connect to the camera and even control the tape playback/pause options.  I have done this myself a few times.  When I first started converting some old "out of print" VHS tapes to DVD for my wife's classes many years ago, I purchased the Pinnacle MovieBox DV which was my analog-to-digital convertor.  In fact, this old box still works today other than it only works in SD (no HD here).  The Movie Box DV that I have is hard to find now, and it is no longer officially supported, but they are very solidly built and seem to last forever if you can get one.  I had to go the route of the external hardware for convertign the old VHS tapes due their having MacroVision encoding on them, and the hardware I bought will ignore that.

  • I was advised to purchase dazzle video creator to move analog videos from an old sony camcorder to a mac.  I have purchased the dazzle and the specs seem to be for windows only.  Has anyone used this product on mac?

I am not certain, but I believe there is a version of Dazzle for the Mac. However, it is not the route I would chose.
You really need a proper analogue to digital converter, like the ADVC110, to connect to your camera via the usual RCA cables, and to your Mac via firewire.

  • I have an older Sony digital camcorder, and I am having trouble importing the movie files. Sometimes I get the audio in iTunes without the picture. I have a Pinnacle Dazzle interface. What am I doing wrong. Is there a way to skip the dazzle device?

Chances are the pinnacle is producing .avi files or MPEFG1/2 streams - iTunes may know how to decode the audio but not the video. Download Handbrake and try running the Pinnacle files through it and adding to iTunes - use Universal format unless you have a specific device in mind.
    Keep copies of the originals.
Another option might be to try to install Perian.  Can't remember if the Apple MPEG2 plugin allows MPEG2 to be played in iTunes.

  • Video conferencing problems - hardware setup Canon VC-C50i/pinnacle dazzle

I'm slightly confused if this is even possible to do and would appreciate if someone could tell me how to do it - if it can be done at all.
I got asked to figure out how to get a Canon VC-C50i working with iChat. The Canon has an S-Video contact which is connected to a Pinnacle Dazzle, from the Dazzle there is a USB contact that connects to the Mac. If I runt the included Pinnacle Video Capture application I get video from the camera but these people want to use the camera together with iChat, does anyone know if it's even possible to do that?

A Canopus ADVC55 has S-Video input and firewire out so will work with iChat.
But i would buy a UVC WebCam its cheaper.

  • My apple TV will not play the m4v files from my pinnacle dazzle.

I recently purchased the Pinnacle Dazzle analog to digital converter. It states that it can convert an analog file to a apple TV compatable file. m4v I converted some analog files and found that they play fine on itunes but when I stream them to the apple TV they run a few frames and then stall like they are trying to get more information. I tried this with several types of videos and have the same problem...does anyone out there have a similar problem.

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
The fact that files play in itunes and not on the Apple tv indicates there are two areas to consider here. The files may be encoded in an incompatible format for the Apple tv or there are problems in the movie atoms caused by improper encoding.
When you create .m4v files from your A/D converter do you use an Apple tv preset or do you need to input your own settings.
What happens if you choose to convert these files to an Apple tv format in itunes.

  • Analog to digital video

Does anyone know the quality difference between the analog to digital video converter in the Canon Elura 100 camcorder vs stand alone converters. I own an Elura and am converting older Hi8 video to my Mac and it is hard to find specs on these devices regarding resolution, sampling rate, etc.  Has anyone noticed any problems with video converted using the Elura ?

    Faedo,
    Cheapest ways:
    1. Do you have a DV camera? If you do and it has "digital in" then you can take the output from your VHS player, route it through the camera and into your PC. The manual would explain if it is a feature.
    2. Secondly, search ebay for Dazzle Hollywood DV Bridge. This is a hardware converter that takes the analogue and does the conversion for you.
    Good luck.

  • Premere CC Capture settings with Pinnacle Dazzle HD DVD Recorder

Can I use the  Pinnacle Dazzle HD DVD Recorder to transfer my old DV tape to Premiere CC  to edit?
I see a dazzle in the drop down capture window, but nothing comes in the capture window when I play back the video,
the same thing happens with old VHS tape.
    I am using Windows 8.1

Found an old thread from when I was setting up this computer for this a few months back ... for a "modern" Windows (7/8) you need a Firewire 800 port on the computer, the 9-pin squarish-rectangle one, not the earlier 6-pin narrow horizontal port with a v-out on one side. The cameras nearly all have the little " iLink" style receptacle, a small 4-pin metal fitting with a small divot in the middle of one long side. You need a 4-pin to 9-pin cord to connect to the computer, and putting any combo involving a 6-pin plug & adapters will not work. There's a little Vantec PCIe card from Newegg I got that had the right connection and installed easily, for $34 USD.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815287011
This worked perfectly as soon as I had the correct cord ... 4-pin to 9-pin.
However, someone else showed how to work through Window's arcane system to get to a Legacy Driver option ... and once I'd rolled back the Firewire controller to the Legacy driver, any old cord would work to either the 6-pin Firewire 400 or 9-pin Firewire 800 port.
Legacy driver is found in Win7 through:
Control Panel/Device Manager/IEE1394 Bus Host Controllers/Properties/Driver/Rollback Driver/ and a couple other steps. But just for you ... I found the Windows 8 page from Microsoft on how to get legacy IEE1394 drivers that should help you:
I hope in all the above data-dumping you'll find what you need to get this working.

  • I need help with the Pinnacle Dazzle DVD recording software. Please help :D

I have recently bought a Platinum Pinnacle Dazzle DVD Recorder, this device allows me to record gameplay from my PS3 and put it onto my iMac (Capture Card) I nought the Windows version of the software and I need the iMac compatible one but I don't want to go into the shop and spend another £50 on it when I already have the Hardware. Does anyone use Dazzle too? To record their gameplay.
All I need is a Dazzle DVC100 Driver to help run the hardware. I have it connected and it all works, just need to view it on my iMac now. Any advice?
If all else fails, i'll just have to go and buy an iMac compatible one.
Also, what software would you recommend for editing, I intend on making a Montage (A video clip of my best gameplay on Modern Warfare 2 with some nice editing)
P.S. I'm only new to this, but I am 16, and I have an A in my GCSE ICT, so I know a good bit about computers.

Of course iMovie is basic, it is aimed at the home and casual user who wants to put holidays and the kid's birthday party on to a DVD and send it to Grandma. It certainly comes with more transition effects than I would ever use.
    Why?
Go watch a major, big budget film. Do you see a transition everytime the scene changes?
No. It is 99.9% hard cuts.
Movie making is about telling a story, not bombarding the audience with twirling "effects". They will soon get bored or irritated with that and never watch it again.
Now, if you want something more advanced, start with [Final Cut Express|http://www.apple.com/finalcutexpress> and when you are ready, move up to the [Studio|http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio> version. Both have plenty of transitions and there are thousands of plugins available. I don't use most of those either -the interesting tools are those for color correction, keying and compositing. Those are what makes the finished product look polished.

  • Re: Satellite L - How to connect my digital video cam?

I have a Canon digital video camera (bought in 2004). I have been using it to transfer movies onto my other Toshiba laptop, but there is no place to plug in on my new laptop. I did use a iEEE1394 but it doesn't work on this one.
    What alternative is there?
Also on turning on the laptop I get a message saying TOSHIBA SERVICE STATION NOT WORKING and proceeds to solve it but nothing happens.
    Any suggestions pls.

    Hey,
What notebook model you have it exactly? Some notebooks dont have firewire port but if your camera has USB port can use this port. As far as I know all notebooks have USB port
    > Also on turning on the laptop I get a message saying TOSHIBA SERVICE STATION NOT WORKING and proceeds to solve it but nothing happens.
You should try to reinstall Service Station, I think this should work. Just download the newest version of Toshiba service station on official Toshiba website and install it:

But dont forget to remove the old version first before you install the newest one. ;)

  • FCE: Possible to Capture SD footage from digital video cam?

Ok, probably a daft question this. Don't laugh...
I'm thinking of purchasing a digital video camera that uses SD cards. I currently use a MiniDV cam and connect via Firewire.
Is it possible to capture footage shot on SD cards into FCE?
And, if so, should I use USB from the camera, or insert the SD card into my card-reader?
The camera I'm looking at is able to record HD footage to a 2gb SD card (about 40 mins worth)
    Thanks for your time!

Cheers Tom, I think you just saved me a small fortune..

  • In iLife08 what is best setting to convert avi 720 and digital video 1080i

What is the bottom line for best quality for 720 p TV.
1.) My import is digital video 1080i to i Movie 08 (full quality)
What should I use for sharing on AppleTV
    - the preset Large (which is 960x 540)
    - or some custom setting 25 fps at 1220x 720? ( H.264 display dimensions at 24/25 fps is 720p (1280x720) ) - or what should the setting be??
2.) Have Windows avi older 720 *480 video, what is best setting to convert this for Apple TV? The 640 setting on QuickTime premium is not very good
    Thank you so much. Peter

Your best option if you are using NTSC footage in imovie is the export to/movie large (960 x 540) at 30 fps, the resolution won't go any higher and still work on the tv. Don't even think about changing the framerate to 24/25 fps, even though you'll be able to export to 720p (1280 x720) changing the framerate will make your video jerky.
If you are using PAL then yes you could export to 720p (even though the specs say 24 fps, 25 fps does in fact work as well), you could try a few tests yourself but I've already done them and IMHO there is so little difference between 960 x 540 and 1280 x 720 that it isn't worth messing about setting up and trying several manual exports to get the best results when you can click one button and be done.
So far a AVI conversion is concerned, I'd try mpegstreamclip, but saying that I can't really be sure. AVI is a container not a codec and I would need to know what codec is actually used inside the container to answer your question properly (Quicktime may tell you though). The problem with AVI is that it is simply so old (even microsoft abandoned it over 10 years ago), unfortunately in a small number of cases some of the codecs that were used in AVI are simply no longer able to be converted. Probably not so likely but at least you are warned.
