Pivot onto sheet from POV removes Excel formatting

When I check "Use Excel Formatting" in the SmartView 11.1.1.3 Display tab, I can drill up and down in on sheet dimensions and Excel will retain the data's numeric formatting.
When I pivot a dimension onto the sheet from the POV, the formatting is removed.
Is this by design, or is it a bug, or am I yet again doing something dumb? My track record suggests the last, but you never know.

I am trying, really hard, to make the switch to SmartView because there are so many other compelling features but this sort of thing just kills it for me. I've spent the last three days validating data in Essbase against an OFA application (don't even ask). I started out in SmartView but couldn't take it, and reverted to the Excel add-in. Hey, at least Smart View beats OFA's client. :)
I wonder if classic Essbase add-in users are ever going to make the switch. I guess parity between the two products will determine who are the bitter-enders I know I fall guiltiy to loving the product I know.

Problem while downloadind data from ALV in excel format.

I have developed one ALV Report.
it have 53 columns. when i tried to download it in excel format using standard functionality, all columns are not coming in one line i.e 50 cloumns in one line and rest columns to the next line.
For Example.

hi,
there are some specific restrictions in downloading data in alv.
i.e you cannot have morethan 1024 characters that can be downloaded in single row.
so change your report columns accordingly.

Report from SQL Query -Excel format only show the first page

Hi,
I have some Reports from SQL Query. In the display options, I choose Excel as default format. The Excel documents only show the first page. If I choose HTML as default format, it shows every rows.
Please advise on how to have a complete Excel document as HTML format does.

I beleive when you export Oracle reports to Excel it is the Data that is transferred along with Column Names.
You cannot export the variables defined on the report.
Hence you will not be able to export the Footer to excel. (Still looking into it will let you know if i find anything interesting)

Report in excel format with proper alignment

Hi all,
We are using Reports 10g R2.
Users want to see the report (invoked from forms) in excel format. Of course, I gave "spreadsheet" as the des type and alignment is the major task. Already more than 500 & above reports are there. So it will not be easy to align the existing report.
Please give me an idea to find a solution for this.

Hi Ima writing data to unix file but when i want to download from there in excel format i data is not not aligned in excel format
please let me know the seperator to be used to upload to unix which can be converted to excel with good alignment.
i tried seperator '09' but didn't work and my version is 4.6 c so i can not use the encoding command or the classes.

Although I dislike MPEG-1 because of the large file size those .mpg files are commonly used on the Web. They can be played by nearly any computer and are not "Player" dependent like WMP or QuickTime so each user can decide how to view them.
As a bonus they are a "playback" format which makes editing and repurposing them a bit more difficult so your media is a bit more "secure".
I'll stick to QuickTime formats (avoiding H.264 video codec) and force QuickTime down their WiMPy throats. Millions of PC's have QuickTime installed (because of iTunes) and others can easily download the free Player and browser plug-in. By avoiding H.264 my files can be viewed on Mac's and PC's that can't install QuickTime 7.

To create an xls-file on the client you can use the OLE-package of forms and "remote-control" excel to create a file.

This option needs the excel-software to be installed on the client where your program runs.

How to remove values formatting in export to excel from ALV grid

Hi all,
I have small issue, I have ALV Grid with some data, but the problem is with columns containing e.g. gross amounts, because it is displayed in the grid as e.g. 1.764,81, and after export to excel it is still in this format (with dot and comma), so excel doesn't treat it as numeric value but as text, and then when I try to calculate total on the column then this values are not taken to the total. Do you know if that is possible to remove column formatting?

I replied too soon to Peter's suggestions. For some reason, I was able to add new info. to my first new row, but not the second. However, I finally figured out the problem.
I found the Help Center page on: "Here are ways to change custom formats and apply changes to table cells:"
To change the elements associated with a custom format that’s been applied to cells, select the cells and click Show Format in the Format pane of the Table inspector.
I saw that the "cell format" was listed as "automatic," so I changed it to "Custom;" then left the new custom window at it's default settings. Now my cells would accept pasted info. without spreading it through the lower rows. Whatever automatic was in the table, it was not what I wanted. Doing this to other new cells, solved my problem. Thanks again.

From sap to excel file with different sheets?

can i upload an internal table from SAP to single Excel file with different sheets for example like : sheet1, sheet2, sheet3.......sheet10. , but need to upload data from sap to excel worksheets ie. from multiple named tabs in Excel. Is this possible, and if so, please can you help and advise me how?

Yes indeed it is possible to write data from internal table to different excel sheets. Check out SAP's Microsoft OLE functionality.Search on SDN for OLE . Following are some links

How to Save Data from DataGrid to Excel Sheet?

Hi All,
I am trying to use Adobe Flex 3.0 for making web pages.
I want to save the data from DataGrid and Advanced DataGrid of Adobe Flex 3.0 to Excel Sheet file. I am trying Flex Help, but didn't find answer for it.
In the application there is a button for 'save' by pressing which the 'Save As' window should appear.
And giving the path to the '.xls' file, the data from DataGrid should be saved on that location in .xls format.
This is my requirement.
If anybody knows how to do this please help.

Using document.applet.saveAsCSVFile(); code you can not get data in proper format.
For one of my application i have stored the data from Grid to excel.
But i am not sure about Adobe Flex 3.0, my code will work or not.
Also you need to make the "Initialize and Script Activex Control Not marked as Safe" as enabled in your IE.
You can share ur email. So that i can send the code. Here I am not able to paste the code.

I'm still learning but I can give an answer a go :) Excel will take in numerous formats, comma delimited etc, so if you use the spool function capturing the output using cursors.. something like..
spool excelfile
declare

fetch c1 into c1_rec;

the spool will create a excel.lst file on your hdd (hopefully) ;)
The file can then be imported into excel simply enough. Change the delimiter to something a bit more unique if your data has commas spattered in it :]

How to open and read Excel Sheet from SharePoint 2013 Document Library using C# Visual Studio 2012

To achieve these are the steps that I had followed :
1. Add the document Library path into Central Admin -> Application Mgmt -> Manage Service App -> Excel Service App -> Trusted File Locations
2. Add Documnet Library link to Trusted Connection Proivder
3. Open Visual Studio as Run as Administrator
4.Create an SharePoint 2013 Empty Project.
5.Add Service Reference : http:\\<server>\_vti_bin/excelservice.asmx
6.Service added successfully
7.Create a class file and add the Service Reference namespace
There is no such class as ExcelService to call.
Please let me know if somebody knows how to open the Excel file into C#(2012) either using ExcelService or any other way to open. I tried old methods of Sharepoint 2010 server but it's not able to access classes.
Requirement is :
Need to read the excel sheet from Document Library and transfer all data into DataTable.
Please help asap.
