Pivot table calculated column
Hello ,
I have created a pivot table like below
________________________________ *200908 .... 200909 .... 200910*
No Matching data in A ........................ 500 ......... 550.............. 570
No Matching data in B ........................ 650 .......... 700 ............ 720
Now i want to calculate the difference for the latest month and prevoius month, and would like to display as below
__________________________________ *200908 ..... 200909 ....... 200910......... Diff*
No Matching data in A ........................ 500 ..............550 ........... 570 ..... 20
No Matching data in B ........................ 650 .............. 750 ........... 725 .....-25
I am getting the difference if i give static values like '200910' - '200909'
But i want to get the difference dynamically like 'highest date' - 'next highest date'
Please suggest some ideas.
Thanks in advance.

hi abhi,
Do you mean moving the column position,if so your saying it as calculated item so in pivot view it would be in the measures area. From there where you want to move it??
My understanding from your question is that in the measure area if there is another column other than calculated item, you can move above it or below it.

Some of the pivot table header column not center-aligned
I've dragged a pivot table model from Data Controls. The generated pivot table on page does not display some of the header columns center-aligned. I tried to set a css style in HeaderFormat listener for the columns, but it did not work. I checked the html source code and found the problem was caused by "colspan" not created properly. I'd like to know how pivot table header columns are created, anyone who knows please kindly give some tips, thanks!
Try setting the Header Row to allow to repeat. I've had to set that Repeat option to get things to break over pages correctly.

Data format in pivot table calculated item
Hi All,
I've got a pivot table with a dimension on rows and a dimension on columns and a measure. I have a "new calculated item" based on the dimension on the columns which does the following: ( ($2-$1) / ($1) ) *100
I want this calculated item shown as a percentage like 1,2% but the measure must stay a whole number like 1234 (no decimal places or percentage symbols) any suggestions on how to achieve this?
Thanks in advance!
GillesHi Kishore,
It is not helpful, I mean, it doesn't solve my problem. But nice post!
What I have is the following:
--------C1------C2-----C3
R1|--123--|--345--|--678--|
R2|--124--|--346--|--679--|
R3|--125--|--347--|--670--|
What I want is the following:
--------C1------C2-----C3---------calculated item
R1|--123--|--345--|--678--|--(($2-$1) / ($1) ) *100)
R2|--124--|--346--|--679--|
R3|--125--|--347--|--670--|
the column results must remain in the same format, but the calculated item must be in the format %9.99 (to see the percentage change)
any other suggestions? -
Hide rows in Pivot table Calculated Items in OBIEE 11g
Hi All,
I have requirement to show values in Pivot table such that values are divided into two sub totals and also shown in Grand Total.
For Sub Total 1, all the rows can be shown with Sub total value. But for Sub Total 2, only Total value is to be shown but not all the rows. How this requirement can be done?
I tried to hide the rows in Sub total 2, but its effecting entire table so those rows are removing from Sub total 1 aswell which should not happen.
Have look in below table for more clarity. My output should be as shown in Table 2 not as in Table 1.

Thanks for your time.Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Here Subtotal will sums up the rows basing on other column (Dimension).
SubTotal 1 sums the rows basing on the another dimension( value A and value B). SubTotal 2 sums the rows basing on aother values(values C and values C.
I understand the above solution, but that is not enough to my requirement as I need to show Regions for Subtotal 1, but not for Subtotal 2. And these Subtotals are based on another column (other than Regions).
Hope this is clear now. -
Remove column heading in a pivot table without columns
I have a pivot table which only has rows and measures. But It doesn’t have any column.
It shows at the top a light grey cell (see attached image https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1mQC-zTrijUSmtXWEFEaHB1cEU/edit?usp=sharing
How could I remove that?
Column properties – labels of column are already disabled.

VíctorHey Victor,
I'm unable to view that file also...
Just curious, if you don't have anything in the column section of the pivot, why not just use a table?
If this is going onto a dashboard the quick and dirty approach is just to make a small CSS change, just throw something like the following into a text object.
<style>
.PTCHC0 {border:0px; background-color: #FFFFFF; background-image:none;}
</style>

Pivot tables with column selector - navigation?
Hi
Just hoping someone can help. We maintain a large number of dashboards and would like to move to streamlining them by combining reports using column selectors. However when we have pivot table reports where the column selector on the rows are selectable on up to 5 different fields, but the pivot columns are split by one specific field, the navigation reports won't filter on the column headings. It will filter on the rows which can change between the various column selector options.
For example we have:
5 columns (5 types of application)
The rows are either: advisor, status of app, month received, age of app, world region etc...
The fact is # of apps
This navigates to a list report which should prompt off the various fields in the column selector and the pivot table column headings (all are prompted) but it just ignores the type of application field and only prompts off the rows.
Is it possible to have it prompting off both like a normal pivot table does?
Sorry if that's not clear.
Regards

BI - Column number in Pivot Table
Hi, I've a problem.
I'm using pivot table view to show a hierarchy. I want insert all values of expanded hierarchy into a Narrative View, but when I try to get values by '@x' signature in the narrative section, I find only the value of the top element of hierarchy and I can't find any column number for the children of hierarchy.
There is a way to find the column number to show in the narrative view all the element of hierarchy?
Could you help me please?

Division between two columns in pivot table in Answers
Hi all
In answers
if I have two columns in my pivot table say column A and Column B, how can I use a division of Column B by Column A to derive Column C. I am unable to do that using the "New Calculated column feature" or in the criteria section. I keep getting either 0 or 1. I even tried changing the format to show two decimal places and am still unable to get the result.
Thanks
BThanks,
our issue is that we want to do our calculations at the summary level (region level of the company) and not at the detail level. However we cannot do this at the aggregate level because this is a moving total for the last 7 days worth of data.
Also, Answers (even in Criteria) does not seem to be doing division properly. We are just not getting the results when we do col A/ Col C. We are in 10.1.3.4 on windows xp against SQL Server
Any ideas?

How to calculate New customers and Returning customers in a Pivot Table?
Hi,
I have a Pivot table with columns as Order Date, Customer Name, Qty, Cost, Freight, Invoice, Adv Payment. I have only 30 customers and 11000 transactions for 4 years sales period.
How to calculate New customers and Returning customers in Pivot Table for any given Month or Quarter or Year. I am open to use helper column, formula or a calculated field etc
Thanks
ArjunHi Arjun,
I have received the file and read it, based on your further explain, I know your requested more clarity. In my view, the requested could be done via VBA code or Select function in other dataset, like Access/SQL. (Because before we count the new
customer and return customer, we might to filter them via rule, the formula need to assign the customer one by one. So, it's inefficient)
Thus, I recommend we try the above workaround: Use macro or Select function in Access. If you have further question about the coding, please post to the MSDN forum for Excel

ADF Pivot Table - Render Labels at all times
Hi,
(There already exists another post for this issue, but without any answer.)
In ADF Pivot table the column labels are not static, they are visible only when the mouse is moved over the labels. Is there some way to permanently display labels at all times?
Thanks,

Error in displaying pivot table
Hi everyone,
I have't seen any thread that gives me an answer to my problem.
I have OBI SE 10.1.3.4 on Windows Server 2003.
In physical layer i've table REQUEST:
Pack varchar,
Seg varchar,
State varchar,
SUM_ACT double,
SUM_PRE double.
I mapped REQUEST into two tables in Business Model and Mapping:
DIM_REQUEST:
Pack varchar PK,
Seg varchar PK,
State varchar PK
FAC_REQUEST:
Pack varchar FK,
Seg varchar FK,
State varchar FK,
SUM ACT double, -- Sum()
SUM PRE double, -- Sum()
PERC double
PERC is a new logical column: +((SUM ACT)/(SUM PRE))*100+
Then I mapped FAC_REQUEST into the Presentation layer.
In Answers I create pivot table with:
Rows:
Pack
Seg
Measure Labels
Columns:
State
Measures:
SUM ACT double
SUM PRE double
PERC
Everything is fine, but when I try to add to the pivot table SUM: Columns->Sum (After or Before), I got the following error:

Condition colors in pivot table
I have an analysis in which I have defined 3 conditions for a column (just changing the color depending on its value). I´ve included a pivot table view and I did a duplicate layer for that column... Displayed this one as a percentage. Everything is working fine... just that the percentage column also has the same color as the value column... I don´t think that is right since the condition is for the value but it seems that using the duplicate layer also 'duplicates' the color...
Pls. is there a way to avoid this behaviour for the percentage column ?
Txs.
Antonio
BExpert, BrazilHello Srini,
Txs. for the suggestion... but I am thinking... In the way you suggested how could I use the Total... In my pivot table, 1st. column is the Product hierarchy... so all the totals and subtotals are done by the pivot table faciliity... Using a table / column.. I understand I will loose the 'easy way to do it via duplicate layer in pivot'.
Pls. am I missing something ?

Sorting on a total column or calculated column in a pivot table
We have a pivot table showing customer activity by month. We have added a calculated field to show the YTD average instead of a total column. Is there a way to sort on this calculated field? We have applied a sort on the measure in the criteria, and our resulting pivot table sorts by the values in the most recent month, not by the YTD average.
I think we cant sort when we use a pivot view becoz all the rows are already fixed. Say your rows are sales and volume and columns are year 2007 and 2008, imagine if you r given the sorting ability then if number of units solds is more then it need to change the rows (but in pivot table rows are fixed). So, we cant sort in pivot tables!!
