Group by problem at pivot table

firstly i am making a table, everything is ok,
after i click pivot table, st_desc column writes same value again, i couldnt understand the reason.

Hello people!
I have a problem with pivot table and line bar combo (all in the same view (pivot table))
I have some measures and one dimension in my report.

If I choose my graph line bar combo automatically choose "line" measure 3 (last measure in "Show Controls"). How can I do if I want my measure1 for line and I don't want modify my pivot table?

Ok, I'll explain my problem again. In my pivot table I add graph vision and I want in the same view (Pivot table). My graph is "Line Bar Combo" and I don't know how but the last of my measures belongs to right AXIS, if I change order of my measures I can see in my graph the measure that I want in my right axis BUT also it changes the order of my pivot table.
This is my problem. I think that I can do that with different views but I lose my selector view to view graphic and my pivot table at the same time.

The whole error message like this:
"Excel found unreadable content in '<<var>File name></var>.xls'. Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook?
If you click Yes in the error message, the file cannot be opened as expected."
Please try the following methods and check they are helpful:
1. Install the hotfix for Excel 2010.

2. Installing the 'Visual Basic' component of MS Office 2010
'Navigate to 'Control Panel >> Programs' -> select Microsoft Office 2010, and then click 'Change >> Add or Remove Programs' -> at the bottom of this list, click the 'plus' sign provided next to Office Shared Features -> click Visual
Basic for Applications -> After that, right-click and choose Run from My Computer -> click Continue'.
3. Run as administrator
4. Go the file in Windows Explorer, right-click on the file, select Properties and at the bottom there's an area called Security, click on Unblock.

Problem in pivot table view

Hello gurus,
I need a help in pivot table view. In pivot table, I have to show measure in accordance to month. For example show sales as per region by month name.
Region               Sales
          Jan     Feb     Mar     Apr …………..Dec     Avg     Total
A          10     40     92     92          32     xxx     xxx
B          73     83     39     78          87     xxx     xxx
So this is what I have to do. I am able to do this with one measure with created new calculated item. Now I have to create this report using two measures and the in the new measure I have to show only average and total.
For example
Region               Sales                              Target
          Jan     Feb     ………Dec     Avg     Total Avg Total
A          10     40          32     xxx     xxx          xxx          xxx
B          73     83          87     xxx     xxx          xxx          xxx
Here sales and target are two different measures. The problem is when I add target column in measures; it will show all the month which I don’t require at all because I need all the month for sales only and for target I just need average and total. I try from head to toe but not getting any thing like this.Can i do this using other view if possible.
Help me guys. If you need more explanation then please let me know.

Is this possible that we can use Calculated column in other calculation in pivot table. For example, total of one measure divided by total of another measure in pivot table.

Group by problem from huge table

Hi,
I have a huge cdr table which contains 700 million records. There s no partition only , index on gsm_no column. (main_cdr_table)
And i have another table with the following columns . gsm_no , cdr_count , last_digit. (gsm_temp)
What i want to do is , to get a sum from main_cdr_table for each gsm_no and store it another table , like this.
insert into my_temp
select gsm_no,sum(price_amount)
from main_cdr_table
group by gsm_no
As you see this way is not efficient. What can you offer to perform this operation?

Alas I'm a rather underprivileged user . (some thirteenth pig we use to say)
Nevertheless I could try to find out something useful (reporting to investigate big table compression(s) should look serious enough in these vacation times )
As far as I can remember, maybe a year ago, I was investigating various table compressions but using only a 3M rows table collecting 100% sample statistics to check the results.
There was quite a difference when comparing the number of blocks, but a rather small one when comparing select timings. A 3M rows table seems too small for the task.
A 92M table might reveal new facts.
At the moment I know collecting 100% sample statistics took 4.5 hours.
Regarding automagical things I cannot check how things get done (I can only read in the documentation about that), the storage is definitely data aware (usually you don't need an index for each and every low cardinality - storage full scan seems to be smart enough to almost always get just the blocks where the required rows are located)
I'll let you know about the findings.

No data for Parent-child hierarchy column in Pivot table view

Hi all,
I used OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 Version.
I drag one Parent-child hierarchy column and one measure and show result with a pivot table view.
But when I click "+" icon to show detail level data,
It messaged that: "*the layout of this view combined with the data,selections,drills,or prompt values chosen resulted in no data*."
But it can show every-level data when I used table view.
It was so strange..
Did anybody meet this before?

Yes, I have the same problem with pivot table for hierarchy dimension.
If you use a normal table (not pivot) it seem to work. Unfortunatley with restrictions as normal table view have.
Same problem still exist in 11.1.1.6.5
I have logged a SR to Oracle about this.

Advanced filtering/grouping question (pivot-table?)

Ahoy. I have come across a few flies in the final varnish of an image database I'm working on. I don't yet know the best way to ask the question. I think what I am looking for is some kind of pivot-table like grouping capability. I think I could do this with nest-able Smart Albums -- but you can't nest Smart Albums in Aperture. (Journler, for those who used it, had, imho, a brilliant implementation of nest-able filters.)
Let me give what should be able to serve as a good generic example: a Library of dog images. These are organized into Projects based on shoots. The images are keyworded with the dogs' breeds, their type, their coat type and color, their individual names (when known), and other "normal" dog characteristics (gender, age when known, etc.). There are also some special keywords, such as a set for expressions (Relaxed, Angry, Teeth Bared, Questioning, Attentive), and, where needed, details of ailments (Sore, Rash, Teeth, Gums, Wound).
I have set up Smart Albums to show many of these, e.g.:
. Spaniels
. Huskies
. Retrievers
. Cocker Spaniels
. Labrado Retrievers
. Details of Angry expressions
etc.
The database problem I am trying to resolve is: how best to narrow selections of groups of Smart Albums? Using the example above, for instance, I have Smart Albums to show me all the detail images of expressions:
. Dog is Angry
. Dog is Attentive
. Dog is Asleep
. Dog is Tired
. Dog is Questioning
. Dog is Relaxed
How best to narrow those to, for instance, just Huskies? or just Working Dogs? or just the individual dog known as "Nanook's Shadow"?
Clearly, if each of those is a keyword (or a keyword container), I can simply add the keyword to the Filter. But I want much greater functionality than that.
By "best" I mean to include the ability to change the variable -- to chose not just "Huskies", but also "Retrievers", and not just "Working Dogs" but also "Hounds". And I want to change this at once -- not individually for each Smart Album.
What I've come with is clever and borders on elegant (imho - ), but remains a kludge.
Smart Albums can be subordinate to only Projects and Folders. Subordinating them to Projects does me some, but little, good. (Subordinating them to other Smart Albums, or to regular Albums, would do me more good, but is not allowed.) I therefore created a new parent Folder for each set of Smart Albums I wanted to be able to readily filter as a group, and copied a set of Smart Albums into it. I then set each Smart Album's "Source" to the containing Folder rather than to "Library". At this point, the Smart Albums show no images, which is good. Now, all I have to do is create an Album of images I want the Smart Albums to operate on, and drag that Album into the containing Folder. So I go to my "Hounds" Smart Album, select all images, create new Album with selected images, and drag that into my Folder "Dog Expressions". The Album filters the universe of my Library to just "Hounds" and the Smart Folders filter from that narrowed group.
This is relatively flexible: If I want to include "Retrievers" as well as "Hounds", I just make another Album and drag it into the "Dog Expressions" Folder. If I want to see only Retrievers, I drag the "Hounds" Album out of the "Dog Expressions" Folder. (So I made a holder Folder called "Sets for Smart Albums" and I keep Albums such as "Retrievers" and "Hounds" there.) I now have a relatively supple drag-and-drop method of filtering groups of Smart Albums all at once.
But you can already see the problems. First among them is that the Albums are static. I will need to create new Albums in order to include any new images or Versions or whenever I get around to keywording, etc.
Still with me? Can you help me do better?
Is there any reason one couldn't have a pivot table based on metadata? One which not only filters but also groups, so that I could have a view showing (for instance) details of Huskies expressions grouped by expression?

Problem with the Pivote Table order by Clause in OBIEE report

I am developing a report with 3 columns
1. Year
2. Customer name
3. Amount
I need Year in Ascending & Amount Descending (Group by Year and then Desc by amount)
In Table view data is displayed correctly, but in Pivote Table it’s not sorting correctly

If it's caused by the ascendant order, the only way that you have is to pivot your table :

Problem of sorting month name in pivot table

Hello,
I have a month name that is sorted by month number in my repository.
When I select Year + month name + measure sorted by year then by month name and I look the result in a table, everything works perfectly but when I switch to a pivot table the sorting doesn't work : the pivot table sorts my month name in an alphabetical order instead of using the month number .... Is it normal ?
To find a solution, I have added my month number and I have sorted by year then by month number and I have hidden my column month number. This have solved my problem for the pivot table but if I attached a chart to it (by selecting "Chart Pivoted Results"), the label of the bottom axis contains the month number and the month name and I haven't found where I can hide this month number. Why the hidden option only works on the pivot table and not on the pivot chart ? And how I can do that ?

No there is no Transient attribute involved , could you please tell me what might cause this error .

Problem with format displayed in output while using Pivot table

Hi All,
I am using Pivot table in 10.1.3.4.1 version for displaying dynamic type data. Data is coming fine but it is coming in very strange format. I have following two tables in my RTF Template.
Table1 using Pivot table

In the output PDF, “Table 2” shows data fine but “Table 1” shows very strange kind of behaviour if the columns exceed more than 5 in “Table 1” . If columns in Pivot table output are more than 5[at present according to my Table1 size] then columns more than 5 are shown on next page after Table 2 instead of displaying inside outer table “Table1“. Anyone has any idea what is the reason behind this strange behavior and how can I avoid it ?

Pivot table group by is not working

Hi Gurus,
I am using OBIEE 10g
I have Dimension and Fact table. In fact table i have some measures and which are calculated and some are aggregated functions. The Geo dimension has Division, region and Market.
In pivot table when i am grouping the values based on the Division & grand total the aggregate columns are showing the value proper where as the calculated columns gives wrong values.
Example : Measure1 : Sum(tickets), Measure 2: Sum(repeat ticket), Measure 3: sum(repeat ticket) / Sum(ticktets)
When i am grouping based on Division, i am getting the proper values for Measure 1 and measure 2 where as measure 3 is giving me different value or some time a region value.
I am not able to figure out where grouping total will be done. i checked the log file it has the simple SQL query, but i dont no where it groups the data.
Please help me its Urgent.

Thanks for taking time and seeing my query.
In Pivot table i am using the diemnsions are Division and Region. When i am making the total of based on Division it is taking random region values and stamping on the total of division where as grand total is giving correct value. In below example Measure1 and Measure 2 is Sum( Measure1), Sum(Measure 2) where as Measure 3 is Weigted average of Sum(Measure2) / Sum(Measure1). It is giving the value correct for indivual regions where as the division total is getting worng.
Example :
Division Region Measure1 Measure 2 Measure3
Northeast NY 100 50 .5
Northeast NJ 50 25 .5
Northeast CI 100 25 0.25
Northeast total : 250 100 .4
i want the above value but i am getting like this
Division Region Measure1 Measure 2 Measure3
Northeast NY 100 50 .5
Northeast NJ 50 25 .5
Northeast CI 100 25 0.25
Northeast total : 250 100 .5

Limit a Pivot Table filter to just one group (Excel 2010)

I use Excel 2010 and want to apply a filter to just one group of data within a Pivot Table.
It appears that filters are applied to the entire Pivot table; is there a way to limit the scope of a filter so it is applied to just a single group of data (grouped using the group function within a Pivot). Alternatively could I apply a filter to just a
selection of rows within the Pivot?
I have tried breaking my pivot into separate tables and applying the filters individually but the tables interfere with each other when expanded/collapsed and generate the Excel "overlapping tables" error message.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

just use filter is no possible that apply a filter to one group. maybe slicers is a good choose.

Pivot table printing problem

Hi,
I am using pivot tables to show data. I also need to print it but I have problems.
When I use ShowPrintableBehavior i only see one litlle part of my pivot table.
Is there a way to print all pivot table or it is impossible?

In my experience I couldn't print all the table records, so I give 100 for table fetch size.
