Pivot Table with Dynamic Columns and Headers

Hello,
I'm trying to pivot a table of data where the column headers will be dynamic. While I know how to pivot the table to get what I want how will I be able to pick up the table column header from the Pivot to display in the report?
For example:
Unpivoted data is Employee Code, Branch Code, Problem Code, # of Problems.
There is many records for a given Employee and Branch that I want to pivot so the Column headers are the Problem Codes and the data below is the SUM(num_problems) for that Problem.
So the data may look like this for Tech Bob, Branch NY.
Problem = LEAK, Num_problem = 5
Problem = DAMAGE, Num_problem = 2
Problem = OTHER, Num_problem = 3
Which problem codes may appear is unknown but selecting the DISTINCT(problem) across all techs gives me the column headings to use.
So if I pivot this data, I get this Row:
Tech = Bob, Branch = NY, DAMAGE = 2, LEAK = 5, OTHER = 3
So first can SSRS handle having dynamic columns? Only Tech and Branch are known and the remaining columns are dynamic based on how many Problems they worked on.
Second, how can I set the column heading in my Tablix to be the Problem Code?

You just need to use a matrix container
Use EmployeeCode and BranchCode for row group
ProblemCode as column group and SUM([No Of Problems]) as the data expression and it will generate the columns for you based on ProblemCode values automatically.

The correct answer should be "Use the Pivoted Report Region Plugin".
But, as far as I know, nobody has created/posted that type of APEX plugin.
You may have to use a Basic Report (not an IR) so that you can use "Function returning SELECT" for your Source.
You would need two functions:
One that dynamically generates the Column Names
One that dynamically generates the SELECT statement
These should be in a PL/SQL Package so that the later can call the former to ensure that the column data matches the column names.
i.e. -- no 'SELECT *'

How to call a SP with dynamic columns and output results into a .csv file via SSIS

hi Folks, I have a challenging question here. I've created a SP called dbo.ResultsWithDynamicColumns and take one parameter of CONVERT(DATE,GETDATE()), the uniqueness of this SP is that the result does not have fixed columns as it's based on sales from previous
days. For example, Previous day, customers have purchased 20 products but today , 30 products have been purchased.
Right now, on SSMS, I am able to execute this SP when supplying a parameter. What I want to achieve here is to automate this process and send the result as a .csv file and SFTP to a server.
SFTP part is kinda easy as I can call WinSCP with proper script to handle it. How to export the result of a dynamic SP to a .CSV file?
I've tried

Hey Jakub, thanks and I did see the #temp table issue in our 2008R2. I finally figured it out in a different way... I manage to modify this dynamic SP to output results into
a physical table. This table will be dropped and recreated everytime when SP gets executed... After that, I used a SSIS pkg to output this table
to a file destination which is .csv.
The downside is that if this table structure ever gets changed, this SSIS pkg will fail or not fully reflecting the whole table. However, this won't happen often
and I can live with that at this moment.

Spatial index on table with object-column (and inheritance)

Is it possible to create a spatial index on a table with an object-column (and inheritance) like this:

If I define feature_type with "NOT FINAL" option but without subtypes, I get (create index):

ORA-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested
So I think besides object tables also inheritance isn't supported whith oracle spatial!?

Hmmmm ... I don't know if I should smile or frown with the implication that I am an OO guy :D :D
Most of my colleagues when I started working as a software engineer, treated me as too low-level because of my C background (started doing C in 1985).
In my last job, my colleagues hated my guts because I was asking them to squeeze every bit of performance out of C++ by using STL which is definitely not OO (although C++ is).
My current colleagues treat me as a DB guru (which I most definitely am not) and they overlook/forget the fact that most of them use Java libraries in their projects, that I wrote for them !
I am inclined to believe that I do not fall into any category in the end...
The only thing I am for sure - and I am proud of it - is inquisitive. I want to know everything there is about the tools I use, and so I end up spending hours and hours investigating... (Microsoft found that out the hard way when I filed 16 bug reports in 8 days when Visual C++ 6 came out ! Not that it hurt them though...)
This is where my confession ends (and my working on the XML validator starts...)

Finding column count with dynamic columns and dynamic tables

I've done some PL/SQL for awhile now but was trying to devise a solution for the following problem:
I wish to find the number of times a specific value for a column exists in all the tables that contain the field and I have access to see with the current user. The column name and value will be passed in via parameters.
I was hoping to use something like
select table_name from all_tab_columns where column_name = <variable table name>;
then use the results from this to create a select statment based off the tables from the select above. I know the difference between dba_tab_columns and all_tab_columns - I want to make sure that I only retrieve the values i have access to.
Can anyone point me to some guide / website / reference material I can read to catch up on the idea of creating this statment?

ALV with dynamic columns and description labels in header titles

Hi everybody,
I have to implement an ALV whose columns are not defined until runtime. Is it possible to do that in some simple way? Is it necessary to use objects to define this kind of ALV's?
And another one query, is it possible to add description labels to column headers so that when the user points with the cursor in them he/she gets a little explanation about the detail of the column (for example, description name of the product hierarchy when pointing to the column named with one of the existing hierarchies, i.e 010102102)

Hey Guys,
I've done some ALV programming, but most of the reports were straight forward. This one is a little interesting. So here go the questions...
Q1: Regarding Columns:
What is the best way to code a report with columns being dynamic. This is one of the parameters the user is going to enter in his input.
Q2: Regarding Rows:
I want to repeat a structure(say it contains f1, f2, f3) multiple time in rows. What is the best way to do it? The labels for these fields have to appear in the first column.

Table with dynamic columns is not being correctly refreshed

I am building a table view with maps of data according to the last section of this tutorial:

In my problem I need to add and delete rows and columns at runtime. Everything is working fine with the exception of the visualization of the table when all its rows and columns have been deleted programatically. I expect to see the default "Empty Table" message, and in fact I see it, but the last columns (before the columns were deleted) are still there.
Is there a way to force the table to repaint itself when all its columns have been removed ?
Just in case I tried with both:
tableView.layout();
tableView.requestLayout();But it did not help.

Ok, at least I know that it is not my fault :) thanks !
I tried with JavaFX8 a couple of days ago for another issue and the layout of application was broken. The size of many fonts were arbitrarily changed (no idea wy), a button I added to the right of a tab header (for creating new tabs at runtime) was mislocated, and the layout components were reduced to a fraction of their size when I move the application to my retine display monitor (someone else told me it was a bug that it is going to be solved soon). In summary, I will try again with JavaFX 8 in a couple of months when hopefully it is going to be more stable.

How to Sort Dimension in Pivot Table via Order Column which is changing like Factual values

Recently in of our product offerings we got stuck on this following question:
How to Sort Dimension based on the Order Value which Keeps Changing with Factual Values??
We have a data source laid out as (example)
In the above the “Order” columns are changing per
Company/(DimensionA) for DimesnsionB.
Instead what we want is: (But only if we can get the following result without putting the “Order” Column in the “Values” Section.
If there are any configurations that we can make to our power pivot model for the similar data set so that the
DimesnionB in this case can be sorted by the Order column, would be greatly helpful to us.

According to your description, you need to sort dimension members in Pivot Table via order column, and you don't want the order column show on the Pivot table, right?
Based on my research, we can sort the data on the Pivot table based on one of the columns in that table, and we cannot sort the data based on the columns that not existed on the Pivot table. So in your scenario, to achieve your requirement, you can
add the column to pivot table and hide it.

How to create a table with editable column values.

Hi everyone,
I think this is very simple but i'm not able to find how to do this. This is my requirement. I need to create a table with n columns and 1 row initially. user should be able to enter data into this table and click of a button should insert data into the data base table. Also there should be a button at the bottom of the table to add 1 row to the table.
I know how to do the insert to database, but can anyone please let me know how to create a table that allows user to enter data and how to create a add 1 row button?

Go through the ToolBox tutorial Create Page & Advanced table section of OAF Guide.
Step 1 - You require to create EO & a VO based on this EO. This EO will be of DataBase table where you want to insert the data.
Step 2 - Create a Advanced table region. (Refer this Adavanced table section for more on this)
Step 3 - Attach this VO in the BC4J component of Adavanced Table region.

The basic idea would be use ITERATOR class reference in your 'Tavleview' HTMLB element
Iterator class should user interface 'IF_HTMLB_TABLEVIEW_ITERATOR', here you can modify column properties (GET_COLUMN_DEFINITIONS method) and cell properties (RENDER_CELL_START)
For your need:
RENDER_CELL_START method, example coding would be:
CASE p_column_key.
     WHEN 'Column name'.
    p_replacement_bee = cl_htmlb_checkbox=>factory(
                        id       = p_cell_id
                        _checked = p_cell_binding
                        disabled = 'X' ).

Dropping a column in composite xmltype table with virtual column

i found some interesting behavior. I have a table with xmltype column and a virtual column. If i drop a column, which has an index smaller than the index for the xmltype column, than the virtual column reference for xmltype column is not changed.
select * from v$version;
drop table t_xml purge;
create table t_xml( c1 number,
                    c2 number,
                    cxml xmltype,
                    c3 number,
                    xmlflag number as (nvl2(cxml,1,0)));
select * from t_xml;
alter table t_xml drop column c2;
select * from t_xml; The 2nd select will result in error:

How to create table with dynamic rows

Hi Ppl,
I have an array lets say with length of n. I want to creata table with 2 columns and no of rows = array length.
lets say array length is 3 ( array[0] = 1, array[1] = 2, array[2] = 3) so the table should have 2 columns and 3 rows.
After creation of table I want to display each array value in each row.
Can somebody help me in this asap.

Hi, Thanks for reply... actually this is one part of rtf. I have put values from xml to an array and now I want to create a table with no of rows = length of array. so here xml will not be useful. could you pls think of it without xml.
result is like
lets says below is the array
array[0] = a
array[1] = b
array[2] = c
array length = 3
so there should be a table of 2 coulmns and 3 rows. Second column of first row will show 'a', Second column of second row wil show 'b' and Second column of third row will show 'c'.
