PL/SQL Web Application

Hi buddies,
I am working with a PL/SQL Web Application.
htp.p('<form>');
htp.p('<select name="seasons">');
htp.p('<option value="winter">Winter');
htp.p('<option value="spring">Spring');
htp.p('<option value="summer">Summer');
htp.p('<option value="fall">Fall');
htp.p('</select>');I have 2 parts in the page, one is header and the other is body.
I tried to add this to the header and access the value in a sql statement in the body like this
displaying a table in html
select .... from MyTable
where MyTable.seas = seasons;I tried placing the form in the body, still I couldn't solve the issue.
How can I retrieve the value for the selected value?
Please advice.
Thanks.

  • Pl/sql web application login and logout problem

    Hi, every expert.
    I am making a web application with pl/sql, and I focus on the login and logout recently.
    I make use of owa_cookie to login and logout, it works wonder in login process as the cookie values are sent to the page successfully, and cookie info was killed successfully when logging out, but the problem is when i click the back button on the browser it can still go back to the previous page, only if i refresh it again it can work propely

    As far as I know, there is only Java API for managing the application. You might need to look into making some java web services to handle this.

  • PL/SQL Web Application managing Oracle Lite parameters

    After making my application for mobile devices using c# and Oracle Lite I am starting now to make the back office for the system's administration.
    For that I am using PL/SQL. Oracle Lite has an API in Java and C# through which I can manage user, publications and so on... What is the best way of doing this managing operations with PL/SQL? Is there procedures and functions I can use? Do I have to pass some weeks to understand all the tables used by Oracle Lite to manipulate them?
    Thanks for the support!

  • Asking help for jsp, servlet, sql, web application, web service....

    i want to increase a new function in existing web site, just like let customer leave their comment for our product and collect it back to company, after modify or delete these no good one, then post it on to the website....i am a beginner,,,, wish any kind ppls can leave some comment for me...thanks a lot

    Since you are a beginner, I'd advice you to take a
    look at Marty Hall's website
    http://www.coreservlets.com/. You can download the
    first edition of his book "core servlets and Java
    Server Pages" in pdf format. I like Marty Hall's books too, but I prefer Hans Bergsten's JSP book as a starter.
    Try to find something about the MVC or Model View
    Controller design pattern. This may seem like
    overkill for small web apps, but as soon as you're
    trying to add some functionality (as you want to do),
    you'll see that you gain time using the MVC.
    For this, I strongly recommend the "Apache Tomcat
    Bible" from Eaves, Jones and Godfrey.
    It explains how to install Java SDK, MySQL, Ant,
    Eclipse, Tomcat.Personally, I think all this is beyond the OP. He said he was a beginner. If that means he hasn't even written "Hello, World" or compiled a single Java program, I'd say that all this stuff about Tomcat, Ant, Eclipse, serlvets, and JSPs is well beyond him. I'd discourage anyone from taking on a project like this as their introduction to Java. I'd warn his client against spending their money to buy code from a neophyte. There are plenty of talented people out there who need the work and can do the job without having to climb that learning mountain.
    If I've misread the situation, I apologize. No insult intended. Just be realistic in assessing your ability and the difficulty of the project.

  • Web application sql trace ?

    Hello all,
    If i want to run a database trace for designer pl/sql web application would i follow the same steps that are executed when running sql trace from sqlplus that is dbms_session.set_sql_trace(true) DBMS_SESSION.SET_IDENTIFIER ?

    Yes, that's right, there is no special consideration when from this perspective if the session is started from web or from another client.
    You should consider you should properly identify the session when it logs in the db.

  • How to create a Web Application when SQL is running in SQL Authentication mode ?

    Hi,
    I a have the following config:
    SQL server 2012 with mixed authentication, running in the LAN
    IIS server with SharePoint 2013 SP1, running in a DMZ --> SharePoint contacts the SQL server with a SQL login (not a Windows login, the required port has been opened in the FW)
    SharePoint is working fine but when I want to create a new Web Application, I get an error: "Could not connect to MySQLServer\MySQLInstance,MyPortnumber using integrated security: Cannot
    connect to database master at SQL server. The database might not exist, or the current user does not have permission to connect to it."
    I think, since I use SQL authentification,  I have to use PowerShell. I found a script on the Internet but this script was not made to create a Web App which a SharePoint installed with SQL authentication.
    Can you help to adapt the script ?
    Thks

    Hi Scott,
    Based on your aticle, I changed my script by adding the credential, but I still have an error.
    Il also put the SQL specific port in the $dbServer variable.
    Any idea ?

  • Migrate/Import/[etc.] PL/SQL Web-Toolkit Application to APEX

    Hello all,
    I've only recently learned about APEX and have dabbled with it for a little while, and I'm quite impressed with how amazingly quick it is to develop applications with it.
    A few co-workers and myself are trying to convince "The Management" that we should pursue using APEX to develop our Enterprise Applications. Currently we write our web apps using the PL/SQL WebToolkit, accessing our applications at URL's like: http://host/dad/[package.]procedure .
    Recently (within the past month) there was a convention in the Southern California region where I believe some people from TUSC presented on APEX. As I understand it, they said it was possible to migrate existing applications (written in packages and procedures) to APEX. I'm also told that it is possible to view the PL/SQL that is rendered by APEX to display the application.
    We've practically sold our Director, however he has a few outstanding issues he's asked me to research, as he feels his boss would be most concerned with:
    * How much effort will it take to migrate/import/etc the PL/SQL WebToolkit Application to APEX
    * Should the need arise, how much effort would it take to move from APEX back to PL/SQL WebToolkit
    I've tried researching these topics over the past few days and I haven't really come up with much. I realize that you can call PL/SQL packages/procedures/etc from within a region, but as I read on a thread in these forums ( How to jump from mod_plsql to APEX! ), you still won't be able to take advantage of the Items, Computations, Processes, etc. Is there, in fact, a way of importing a PL/SQL-developed Web Application into APEX to take advantage of all its tools? I would imagine it would be quite a feat to be able to create the items for the form fields, maintain the layout and such, but I need to provide my Director with as much information on these topics as possible.
    Many of us developers are really excited at the prospect of developing with this tool; it would be a shame to lose the opportunity over not being able to provide any information on the topics above.
    Thanks in advance for your assistance,
    -Luis

    Hi Luis,
    I had a client a couple of years back who had an existing PL/SQL Web Toolkit application who used the htp.p etc calls to generate the HTML (and in some cases CSS) for their site. They were interested in using Application Express and asked me to design a new administration module for their site (which I did). The development went extremely smoothly so they then asked about re-writing their existing site in APEX (since maintaining the old site was not a straight-forward task).
    Fortunately for me, the original designer had the foresight to put lots of the application logic into packages (which I could reuse), but I quickly (about 2 or 3 days from memory) created a custom theme and templates in APEX which gave the same look and feel as the existing site.
    Personally, I think if you tried to re-use the existing htp.p calls (by using PL/SQL regions etc), then you would be missing out on some of the major advantages of using APEX (such as the ability to easily change the look and feel of your application).
    I always think that migrating to a new tool/platform etc is a great opportunity to re-examine your existing code to perhaps see if you can do things differently (speed up those queries, perhaps make the navigation more logical etc).
    So, yes you can certainly re-use lots of your existing packaged logic, but I would also take the leap and use the features that Application Express provides to make future maintenance of your application easier.
    Just my thoughts.

  • SQL Azure: Query Analyzer VS Web Application - Calling Stored Prcocedure

    I have a stored procedure in SQL Azure.
    Calling this stored procedure normally would take 30 minutes.
    I need to call this Stored procedure multiple times (18 times, with different input)
    Scenario 1: When I call this asynchronously from the Web Application, all 18 calls run concurrently so the whole process take about 30 minutes.
    Scenario 2: When I call this same stored procedure from Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, (each process in a different TAB) they seem to be running very slowly, it has already taken more than 5 hours.
    Is there a reason for this ?
    Is there any difference in calling multiple stored procedures from different tabs ?
    Is this process running Asynchronously ?
    What is the best was to achieve scenario without going via the front end ?

    Is there a reason for this ?
    --When you are running the query, no matter application or SQL Server, please check sys.dm_exec_requests and check the session status in SQL Server and see if any difference.
    Maybe it is caused by blocking when running in SSMS. We need to dig into it.
    I am not sure how you call the procedure asynchronously  in application, but if they are sent to SQL Server within different connections/sessions, then it should be the same as SSMS.
    Is there any difference in calling multiple stored procedures from different tabs ?
    --No.
    Is this process running Asynchronously ?
    --When you start the procedure in SSMS, it is a synchronize session.
    However, the slowness should not be associated with the synchronization or not.
    Per my understanding, for the asynchronously calling in application, it simply means that application goes to execution other code without for SQL Server.
    This does not affect the real time cost in SQL Server.
    What is the best was to achieve scenario without going via the front end ?
    --We need to understand what cause the issue first. Normally they should be almost the same.
    Right now the procedure caused 30 minutes to complete and it is really too long. I think you'd better make adjustment to the code or logic to tune the performance first.

  • Handle SQL Server Agent in Web Application

    Hi,
     I have asp.net web application with SQL Server as back end. I have some SQL jobs to handle the transactions. Now the requirement is i need to handle the Agent from the front end.
    We can use SMO object for that. But as a newer can you guide me what are the challneges or problems create in this approach. Or any guidlines for correct approach. My scenarios are
    1. Can create jobs, shedule the jobs, and set alerts from the front end
    2. I need to show the Job execution history in the page
    3. I need to show the activity monitor in the page
    4. I need rerun the job when it is shown as failed from the page
    Also give guidlines to backup the history log so that i can clear the history after some duration

    In order to use SMO, you'll need to either install the prerequisite assebmlies.  This can be done by installing the SQL Server Client tools SDK from the SQL Server installation media or the SQL Server Shared Management Objects msi from the SQL Server
    feature pack.  Alternatively, as cmille19 suggested, you can simply call the SQL Agent procs directly from you code.  SMO simply calls stored procs under the covers (both documented and undocumented ones) to implement job management functionality.

  • Web Application need to merge SQL and PDF on Server

    I have written a internal web application .aspx using Acrobat Pro 9 and LifeCycle.  I am using a California State PDF form that I cannot alter and merging data from SQL and an input form to produce the final PDF file.  The application works great on the development server where the software is installed. The issue I am having is that I want my users to access the web application from their personal PC's in the office to great it and it appears that I need to have Acrobat Pro 9 installed on their desktops.  This is not an acceptable solution for my 120 users.  Is there anyway I can create the final pdf on the server and just provide them with a directory of the final document?    This is my first application using Pro 9 and Life Cycle and really need anyone's help.  Can Pro 9 even do this on the server ?

    One of this:

    You can't use LiveCycle Designer or Adobe Acrobat on a server.

  • Oracle Multimedia PL/SQL Web Toolkit Sample Application

    Hi,
    I am trying Oracle Multimedia PL/SQL Web Toolkit Sample Application for Oracle database 11g Release 2, on the client components of the readme file, it says that oracle http server must be installed, and http server is available on the companion CD of Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2), actually I'm using Oracle database 11g, is it because of database version that I cannot find http server component to add using universal installer or because during installation I chose install on my laptop and not a server?
    regards,
    Hassane Cabir

    In apex folder (the downloaded one), there is README.txt under owa which contains information about PL/SQL Web Toolkit and how to upgrade.
    This is the content of this file:
    PL/SQL Web Toolkit 10.1.2.0.6
    Application Express 3.0 requires PL/SQL Web Toolkit version 10.1.2.0.6 or greater.
    As a convenience, the PL/SQL Web Toolkit 10.1.2.0.6 is included with Application Express 3.0
    in the apex/owa directory. This version of the PL/SQL Web Toolkit is not a replacement for
    subsequent versions of the PL/SQL Web Toolkit, as delivered with database patch sets or
    Critical Patch Updates.
    If the PL/SQL Web Toolkit version is lower than version 10.1.2.0.6, the included PL/SQL Web
    Toolkit bundled with Application Express 3.0 should be installed prior to the installation of
    Application Express 3.0.
    To determine the PL/SQL Web Toolkit version, connect to the database as the SYS user and
    run the query:
    select owa_util.get_version from dual;
    Installing the PL/SQL Web Toolkit 10.1.2.0.6
    1) Stop all applications using the database
    2) Navigate to the directory apex/owa
    3) Connect via SQL*Plus as the database user SYS
    4) Run the PL/SQL Web Toolkit installation script by issuing: @owainst.sql
    5) Review the output displayed from owainst.sql and ensure no errors were encountered.
    6) Confirm the PL/SQL Web Toolkit version is 10.1.2.0.6 or greater by connecting to the database
    as the SYS user and running the query:
    select owa_util.get_version from dual;
    7) Run the utlrp.sql script from the Oracle Database home to recompile all invalid PL/SQL
    packages now instead of when the packages are accessed for the first time. This step is
    optional but recommended. To run utlrp.sql, issue: @?/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql

  • Sharing static members between Swing application and Web application

    Hi,
    if someone has done this please help:
    I have created 3 classes:
    Mainclass using JFrame which is used as host class for DBConnectionManager class,
    and ConfigBean class used for storing static configuration parameters:
         static public String strUser = "";
    static public String strPassword = "";
    static public String strDB = "";
    static public int nMaxConn = 0;
    static public String strPoolName = "";
    static public boolean bConnected = false;
    static public int nCurrentUsers = 0;
    static public DBConnectionManager manager = null;
         public DBConnectionManager getDBManager()
    return this.manager;
    public void setDBManager(DBConnectionManager manager)
    this.manager = manager;
    DBConnectionManager class uses static instance to see if this is only class created by client users.
    Only static member in this class is getInstance member function for startig manager:
         static synchronized public DBConnectionManager getInstance()
    if (instance == null)
    instance = new DBConnectionManager();
    return instance;
    In Mainclass I also created non static DBConnectionManager class for manipluation with host administrator.
    Then I created web application layout in Tomcat 4 and used index.jsp:
    <%@ page import="java.sql.*,java.io.*" %>
    <jsp:useBean id="cfgbean" class="webvobapli.ConfigBean" scope="application" />
    <%!
    webvobapli.DBConnectionManager db = null;
    String strMessage = "";
    Statement stmt1;
    ResultSet rset1;
    String strQuery = "select count(*) from cards";
    %>
    <html>
    <%
         try
              db = cfgbean.getDBManager();
              if(db==null)
                   strMessage = "Error";
              else
                   Connection con = db.getConnection("central2");
                   if(con != null)
                        stmt1 = con.createStatement();
                        rset1 = stmt1.executeQuery(strQuery);
                        rset1.next();
                        strMessage = rset1.getString(1);
                   else
                        strMessage = "NULL";
         catch(Exception e)
              strMessage = e.toString();
    %>
    <p>Message = <%=strMessage%></p>
    </html>
    Question: why db = cfgbean.getDBManager(); returns null if I created instance of DBConnectionManager
    class in Mainclass and assigned it to ConfigBean as static instance before running web application.
    Shouldn't all java programs share static memory area?
    Beast Regards
    Branislav Cavlin

    Question: why db = cfgbean.getDBManager(); returns null if I created >>instance of DBConnectionManager
    class in Mainclass and assigned it to ConfigBean as static instance >>before running web application.
    Shouldn't all java programs share static memory area?You say you create the db objects BEFORE you run the web application - now I could be misunderstanding what you are saying, but does this not involve two JVM's (one to create initial db objects, which then exits, then second JVM fires you app server/servlet container) - which would explain why a null object is being returned.

  • New Web Application not creating correctly

    I'm having an odd occurrence happen about 50% of the time right now when creating new web applications during my migration from SP2010 to SP2013.
    During creating a web application in Central Admin, I can get through the first setup page, then get to the "This shouldn't take long" page and will sit there for 30+ minutes. I end up closing the window and will see that the Web application is there in
    Central admin, and sometimes the DB will be created, other times not, not a big issue since I'm mounting a sp2010 database to this web application.
    What I do notice is that either a IIS site will either not be created at all, or it will be created, but the Virtual Folder is empty. When trying to delete the Web Application through central admin or PowerShell it will hang for hours until the next day
    when it's finally deleted. During this time I am not able to create any other web applications. It's usually at this time that I can successfully create a new web applications but even that is unreliable.
    Has anyone ran into this issue or can suggest any workarounds to get this working? I'm wondering if copying the contents of another web application's virtual directory to the failed web application's virtual directory will be a workaround. I still need to
    verify if creating a web application through PowerShell gives me the same headache but at the moment I'm currently waiting for a web application to delete.

    Finally got this resolved after an 8 hour call with Microsoft. After finally getting the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application service to restart (took 4 hours) We found that changing the Shutdown time in the Web Application Pool for the Central
    Admin pool to 400 allowed for the Web Application to complete successfully.
    I'm still confused to why everything is taking so long now to complete so i'll have to look into that next.
    Folks, this is a minor problem that seems to be creeping up more and more. I personally have performed over 8 installs in various environments. I have seen this issue in 6 out of the 8 environments I have created. All servers I have tried a variation of
    software. In MOST of my tests, this seems to be a problem. Not sure why they decide to recycle the App Pool just before they perform an "Virtual Directory Copy." Here are the results of my tests. I was very methodical in my testing and made sure these were
    clean downloads every time. As you will see, I tried variations of hardware increases, physical to virtual, database versions and patch levels...etc.
