Placing book order

I have put together 3 mac books without problems so far, but I am having trouble with my current one. It is a full size 100 page hardbound. My other books have been smaller. when I send it off to print it gets to the end of the transfer and gives me an error message - something about a file not being able to transfer. It tells me to retry, but that only stalls the program. I have deleted the entire book and started over with the same results. Does anyone have any experience with this?

hy,
I have exactly the same problem, Over the last couple of weeks I tried to up-load a larg hard-cover book and.... after 80% of up-loading the system is freezed and I have to turn off my mac.. unbelievable .. I have never encountered these problems. By the way, the small albums (standard format) are going well !!
Has anyone a solution ???

  • Placing book order-iPhoto quit unexpectedly

I have been trying to order an 88 page large spiral photo book. Each time I try, it assembles all 88 photos then iPhoto quits and I get the -unexpectedly quit-message. I have relaunched, reset and relaunched but it still will not process the order. I placed an order for prints with no problem. Why can't I get my book ordered?

It isn't the size of the book. My friend recently uploaded a 100 page book without a problem.
    A few more ideas:
Is iPhoto up to date? Run software update.
Check the photos in the book make sure there aren't any error symbols showing up. They might look like yellow yield signs.
Call Applecare and see if they have any ideas or even an Apple Store.
    These two stink, but:
Rebuild the book from a new book. Maybe there is an error from within the book.
Rebuild the book using Kodak's service. I don't know if the kodak gallery software allows you to build and upload within the program or if it has to be online. There is a plug-in for iPhoto that allows you to upload photos to your Kodak account from within iPhoto, so that helps a little.

  • Unable to complete photo book order on ipad

Hi, I hope this is the right place to get some help. Regarding placing an iphoto photo book order on an ipad.
I have been working on a photo book project for a long time, and want to finally order some copies of the book. Everything has worked fine, except that I get a message that I have some clipped text that may be exceeding its boundaries. I can't figure out where this is, no warning triangles are showing, so I choose to proceed with the order anyway. The next page is black/dark grey with a small icon of the front page of the photo book, and it says "done" ("ferdig" in Norwegian) on top. I can click on some words in blue writing on the top right of the page, "add delivery address" (in Norwegian). When I try to type somehing in there, nothing happens.
Aaargh, this is so frustrating! I have checked that my address and credit card info is valid, in my apple id-account(itunes).
Shouldn't there be some uploading of the album? And a choice of how many copies etc I want? I have checked my email and there are no order confirmations, so I apparently havent placed an order yet, despite the "done"/"ferdig" on top of the page.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? What can I do?

    Hey there Nyibyen,
It sounds like you are unable to purchase a project youve been working on for a good long while, but the order process is not working as expected. I would start by verifying you have Express Checkout enabled in your Account Settings when you are at http://store.apple.com, with this info:
You can review or edit your express checkout settings by accessing the Account section from the main navigation bar. Sign-in with your Apple ID and password to view your account settings. Click on the Edit button if you wish to edit your shipping address or payment method. You can also enable or disable the express checkout feature for this computer by moving the slider to the respective position.
    From: Express Checkout
              http://store.apple.com/us/help/express_checkout_faq
If so and your other billing info is correct, quit all the running apps on the iPad:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue is still unresolved, try resetting your network settings and attempting the order again.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings

  • IPhoto '08 book order

    Hello you good forum people!
I have ordered my book on last Monday (Feb. 18th 2008) and still haven't received it. I live in Toronto, Canada and I understand that I'm not going to get it "same day", but I was worried since I don't know how to check the status of my order. When I registered myself I didn't know I can use my primary email address which is at gmail, but instead I used my temporary .mac address. So at the end, when I placed my order I've got the message that receipt has been sent to my .mac address.
Now, this address has expired and I would have to renew it in order to be able to log into my account and see my emails, so there is no way I can get my receipt. It would be foolish to purchase .mac account just because of this, so that's not an option.
Can anyone tell me if there is any other way of checking what's the status of my order please ? I have my order number here. Oh yes, I paid 60+ dollars because I ordered hard cover version and had 46 pages inside.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    S.

Thank you so much, this was super quick!
I appreciate your help, I really do!
Yes it worked great, this is what I've got:

  • IPad not reliable for placing online orders?

I logged on to Barnes and Noble to place an order using iPad (4.2.1) via Safari (5.0.3) and 3G (no wifi, no printer available); I used a gift card and paid through PayPal. The order, by all evidence, appeared to go through; BN displayed the completed summary of the transaction...my "receipt". I didn't think I needed to snap a pic of the screen. Days later I get an email that the item is in my cart. I have been on the phone for days with customer service....their "manager" today told me that placing orders via iPad was unreliable. Is that true? At this point, I don't have the book OR the gift card OR satisfaction.

    soart wrote:

I think this sounds like the manager making assumptions for an error of some sort that he's unaware of.
In saying this, I had an issue with Amazon's windowshop app where I got an error after placing a one-click order that Amazon's mobile services was having an issue of some sort. I went back and placed the order again and ended up with two orders and had to refuse shipment on one of them. If that happens again, I'll be sure to check my e-mail before trying to re-place an order.

  • Iphoto book order cancelled - Totally dissatisfying customer service

This message to alert you that Apple might cancel your iPhoto book order for no reason !
This is what just happened to me, leaving me in a totally dissatisfying and frustrating situation, as I did everything to have this book in time for Christmas, had to go through over an hour on the helpline with Customer Services, whose agents are badly informed on the solutions that they can offer you when such mistakes happen ---
I ordered an iphoto book on December 14, in order to have it in time for Christmas.
Nothing was reported wrong or erroneous when I placed the order and uploaded the book. Two days later, Apple cancelled my order without any notification sent to me. I have only learned about it on December 21, worried that my book had not arrived yet. I checked online about my order status, which then said "order cancelled". No explanation why. I waited for Monday December 23 in order to be able to talk from someone at Customer Services. I was then told that my order had been cancelled because one picture and text was overlapping, but they could not tell me exactly which one. It was then suggested to me that I should replace the same order and call back so that they could accelerate the process.
I placed the order and sent the exact same book to Apple again and then called back. Another assistant from Customer Services advised me that there was nothing they could do in order to accelerate the printing and delivery process. All they COULD HAVE offered me was 15% discount, which the first assistant did not mention and which now was too late for me to benefit from since I had already placed the order. Also, I was told that my exact same order did not produce any issue for printing, so that the first cancellation was in fact made without any reason.
This leaves me with the following situation: Although I have placed my first order in time for it to arrive before Christmas, I end up with no Christmas present, over an hour lost on the phone with customer services, no discount, no accelerated printing or delivery process or any other gesture in order for my infuriating situation to be less so, and a photo book that will arrive in early January when I will have already left my family to work abroad again.
I am entirely dissatisfied with the quality of the Apple iphoto book service and Apple customer services. I have not obtained any help or remedy from your customer services although several mistakes had been made on their side.
You are well advised to consider alternatives before spending hours on creating an iphoto book...

Anne, that is really outragious. And I cannot understand why the support did nothing to rectify their mistake and help you to get your book printed in time. The support teams at the Print Products Stores probably will not read these these Forums, these are user-to-user discussions. So, to make Apple listen to your justified complaint, use the feedback form.

  • Time required to upload a book order?  When/how should I cancel?

I created a book in Aperture (62 pages) and placed the order for 4 copies. The "upload" of the order has been running for about 2.5 hours now. I have a cable Internet connection. If I need to cancel this one and restart it, how do I do that? In the activity window, status is stuck at 46% and the pause task/cancel task buttons are greyed out.

Thanks! Just trying that now, but concerned that there is an order out there somewhere. I have submitted a request to the printing folks (I think) to make sure I don't have duplicate orders out there if/when I attempt this again.

  • Iphoto, book order , how long?

about how long does it take for a book to get to you?
im using one in a school project and i need it for like jan. 20 when should i order it?

All of mine came within 10 days of placing the order. They were delivered to So. Calif. and printed either near Sacramento or in Oregon, not sure where. I would order 3 weeks ahead of the time you need it in case there's an issue and you would need to reorder (printing problems happen occasionally and Apple has been good at allowing a refund so you can reorder). That would be right after the new year and the Christmas rush should be over by then.

  • Why does Apple keep caneling my iPhoto book order?!?

I have tried twice to orderan iPhoto book and both times it was canceled. The first time because you have to have iPhoto 6.0.1 or later (though they never tell you this when you are going through all the ordering process). This second time I ordered it 10 days ago using 6.0.4 and everything seemed fine. Until today when I checked the order online and it says that it has also been canceled (10 days after I placed the order!). These were to be christmas gifts... and worst of all Apple has NO PHONE SUPPORT of iPhoto orders! PLEASE HELP!!!!

    TheRobin:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Did you try contacting them thru http://www.apple.com/support/iphoto/customerservice/orderbooks/ ? That's the official point of contact.
Check all of your text boxes to make sure there are no characters, returns, etc., below the visible window. Usually there should be a yellow caution triangle in the text box.
Be sure you're not using some unusual font that didn't come with your Mac.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Why is placing an order so difficult?

    Wanted BT Infinity.
Tried to place an order online but it asks for MAC code (I have had a re-number) despite being with BT for over 18 months already. Called them up but the department that deals with that are closed on weekends.
5 days later now sorted so placed an order over the phone engineer booked etc all sorted. Then I see they are sending HH2 not HH3 as advertised. Cancel order and start again.
New order placed online (to get HH3) tried to track order today but order not found. Called up to check everything was ok... Guess what there is a problem with the order... But wait.... The department that can deal with it are closed on Sundays.
Why do I feel like I have to hold BT's hand every step of the way?
Doesn't look good if it is this difficult to even place an order.
I wonder what the problems with the order are? Something left behind from the previous order perhaps?

    Hi Macdaddy2x,
Welcome to the forum and thank you for posting. I am sorry to hear about the frustrating time you have had regarding your recent order. I would like to take a look to make sure your order progresses correctly. Please could you drop me an email with your BT account details and a link to this thread? • Well I have just placed my order for iWork06

    Hi Everyone
As the subject says I have just placed my order. Although I am still going to use Pages 2 only for novel writing I think the reviewer comments addition is going to be the most useful for me. The table calculation and address book mail merge might be useful as well.
Can't wait, according to the Apple store I should have it in two days. I'll give you a review when it turns up, though I sure that all you folks in the US will get it before me.
    Chris

I ordered my family packs of iWork '06 & iLife '06 today. They are expected to ship by Thursday. I don't do any writing that requires endnotes, or even footnotes, any more, so I can't help there.
I did get a nice personal demonstration of Pages 2 today. One thing I really wanted has been added to the preferences - setting the default zoom. There are also a lot of text formatting options added to preferences. Most of the other things that I could think of off the top of my head couldn't be done in the demo. But, it won't be long before we get our hands on the new version to try things out.
I did like the photo editing like in iPhoto that has been added & masking to shape & reflections look cool. Obviously, there is a lot more graphic/image handling in Pages 2.

  • Apple cancelled my iphoto book order....I can not contact them

I placed an order for an iphoto book 2 days ago. Yesterday I could log online and see my order status (it was set to printing). Today there is no record of my order, and I am quite worried. Any ideas of why this might have happened or if there is anyone to contact other than "[email protected]". I ordered another iphoto book 2 weeks ago and had no problem with that order. Please help!!!!!

    Sully,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
If you click on the entire iPhoto category of discussions, http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=143 there is a category announcement (look in the right column) regarding the print services being temporarily unavailable today from 10:00 a.m. PT - 12:15 p.m. PT.
Perhaps you are not able to see your order status during this down time. Wait for this time to pass, then see if you can access your order's information.
    Regards.

  • Book Ordering not Working.

Ok, So I'm using the Trail of Aperture 3 and deciding to try out every feature I went ahead and decided to order a book. I went though the processes, created an account using my iTunes information, I went to the billing information, but then the order form went white, and I wasn't sure what had happened. After a few minuets I reloaded the page. Aperture promoted me to sign in again, I did and I had to create the Account, again. They same thing happened again. I rebooted my Mac, and tried again. It still didn't work. Does anyone know why this is happening?
    Thanks,
    Brian.

I contacted Apple Support via email, and they responded very quickly with the following message. I tried their suggestion, and it SOLVED my problem. My book was successfully uploaded. Hope this solution works for you too.
    Dear Paul,
I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties placing your order. I know this is frustrating when you're excited about having a seamless purchasing experience. My name is Paul and I will be happy to help you today.
I would like to recommend taking the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

    3) Click "Login", and enter in your Apple ID and password.

    5) Enter your password at the top in both the "Password (at least 6 characters)" and the "Retype your password" fields.
    6) Make sure the primary and shipping address information is correct. If not, make changes.
    7) Scroll down to the bottom of the screen to the "Method of Payment" section.
8 ) Remove your credit card number, then click on "Continue".
    9) Open Aperture and select "Buy Book".
    10) Click on "Account Info" (or "Set Up Account" if "Account Info" is greyed out)
    11) Enter in the same Apple ID and password you used to sign in to the Apple Store.
    12) You will be prompted to go through three different steps to enter in your billing information.
    13) Try to submit your order.
If you are still unable to place your order after trying these troubleshooting tips, please reply to this email with the following information:

  • Accurate OM booked orders report

My objective is to develop a Booked Orders Report in Discoverer and I'm pretty new to Discoverer 10g.
My logic to property display the records is -- for each order in OM that header status is booked, determine if ANY lines are still open by looking at the Open Flag and if any line is still open, display all lines associated with that order.
example: SO# 100 has 4 lines where line 1 is open awaiting shipping (open_flag = 'Yes') and other 3 are closed (open_flag = 'No').
maybe I'm going about this the long way so if you know a cleaner way, please share....
The best logic in discoverer that I can come up with (based on the various line status fields) is that I can build a new calculation called l_open_flag that is setup as CASE WHEN "Order Lines".Open Flag = 'Yes' THEN '1' ELSE '0' and when I run the discoverer report, the l_open_flag is working and returning 1 or 0 as expected for each line.
The next step is to setup a second calculation to sum the l_open_flag called sum_l_open_flag and add a second non-display parameter to display any order where header level status is 'booked' and the sum_l_open_flag > 0.
the problem is that when I try to sum l_open_flag discoverer throws up a warning that I'm combining detail data point and an aggregated data point -- which I agree.
After adding the new condition to include orders where sum_l_open_flag > 0, I still only get just the one line item out of the 4 lines on the order that is still open.
Hope this is clear like oracle and thanks,
    Rob

    Hi rob,
From your example i understood is if open_flag=Yes it is open and when No then it is closed.Your going in the right path by taking the case as you mentioned.
But why are you taking the second condition sum(l_open_flag).definately it will throw warning. Why do you need this condition? Can you be clearer
I sugest you take a second calculation as calculation2=l_open_flag>0,this suggests that when you are giving zero(0) it says that you want all closed sales orders.
Anything more can you give more explanation.
    Best Wishes,
    Kranthi.
