Placing XLS file in OBIEE Dashboard

Hi All,
I have tried to place .xls file as a link in Dashboard.
Followed following process.
1. Put your file under C:\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\
2. Put in your dashboard a text element
3. Inside the text element put the code: name
4. Check the "Contains HTML Markup"
But when I click the link its opening in IE as Html page.
Even right click and Save Target As its asking me to save it as .html format.
When I open in Firefox its working properly that its asking for download and able to download to local machine and use the file.
Please help.
Thank you,

  • Converting OBIEE Answers / Interactive Dashboards into .pdf or .xls files

    Hi all;
I’m a freshie here as well as in Business Intelligence industry. Right now, without prior knowledge about this tool, I’m working in OBIEE answer.
Is it possible for us to convert OBIEE answer report/dashboard into .pdf or .xls files? Other tools like Cognos and Business Object have their own utilities to convert the tool’s reports into those formats. I believe OBIEE also have that essential, but untill now, i couldn’t find it.

You can download Reports on Dashboard to PDF and HTML from:
Click Printer Friendly icon placed at bottom left corner and PDF or HTML.
You can download individual reports on Dashboard:
Page Options ==> Edit ==> Report Properties ==> Report Links. Check the options you want to see below the report.

  • Need to embed document (xls, doc) to InfoView dashboard

Tell me please is it possible to embed xls (from MS Excel) or doc (from MS Word) file to InfoView dashboard with dashboard builder? The file is published - it is placed in InfoView directory structure.
    Thanks,
    Olga

Assuming the new file has the same name then ftp it up to the
    site as you
would an HTML file. You can do it either using DW inbuilt FTP
    client or use
    IE or even cuteftp, wsftp.
Can you ftp in your html files?

  • Displaying External Documents on an OBIEE Dashboard

    Hi All,
We are using OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1.One of the client requirement is to provide a link to PDF help file on the dashboard clicking which user can download the document for reference.
I would appreciate if anyone of you can tell me the procedure in detail to achieve this.
    Thanks,
    Sreekanth

But i have a question. What does this mean??
+"I placed the pdf document in D:\OBIEE-HOME\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\res folder called it through the text in dashboard by "a href+".
In my WEBCAT server i could only find E:\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\ but later part is missing "\analytics\analytics\res" and
How do we call this document into a dashboard??
    Thanks,

  • SEARCH: Widget that shows a PDF or XLS File

    Hey,
I am looking for a widget which can show me a pdf or XLS file (Picture would be a possible work around).
Best would be to show a small kind of thumbnail and a magnifying class to look up details. So far about the wish list .
Reason is my weekly time-planner - I use a XLS sheet in adoption of Steven Covey's "7 Habits of highly effiective people" - and in order to be even more effective, I would like to make this visible

    http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/status/dashclipping.html
allows you to use a URL to display in a window. nice widget. I use it to check a site or two, but i have tested on local PDF files, and it works fine...

    URL = file://localhost/Users/usernamehere/Desktop/example.pdf

  • Using XML for Live Data- How do you get the XML file to pull data from another xls file?

    Post Author: joseph_atkinson
CA Forum: Xcelsius and Live Office
I was wondering you can help me.
I am currently receiving an *.xls reports on a daily basis (same report, same format, different data). I have put this report into Crystal Xcelcius Designer 4.5 Professional version and created the dashboard I want.
I am aware of the xml mapping functionality where I can map from the *.swf straight to a database. However, is it possible to map to an xls file that will change on a daily basis? (obviously I can you the refresh button in Designer, but I need to automate this process).
Your help really would be appreciated.

In Firefox, I'm seeing a bad icon for your zip files. I can
    download it,
but it looks like something might be amiss with your zip
    files
    themselves.

  • OBIEE Dashboards are not visible properly in firefox

    HI all,
We are trying to open our obiee dashboards in fireworx. But it didnot work properly. we are using firefox 3.0 and 2.0 version but they didnot workfor us.
Any changes needs to be done in brower or in obiee. We are using java code in some reports also is it causing any problem. How to over come this.
    Plz letus know.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi mikelwart,
I've noticed the same thing when I tried to throw in some custom javascript code into OBIEE. It worked fine in IE but failed in Mozilla.
I could only assume that there are certain CSS properties in the OBIEE CSS files that Firefox is actual observing that IE fails to as well.
What exactly is your script supposed to be doing? What is it actual doing?
Mine was supposed to float a pivot table header line down the page, but instead, Mozilla glued the header to the bottom of the page. I'm not super CSS savvy, but my guess is there are some DIVs in the Dashboard page that are pushing my object to the bottom of the page.
Ultimately, I'd recommend you do two things:
    1) Contact your Oracle Rep and see if you can provide you detailed documentation of all the CSS files
    2) If you can't get detailed documentation (or even if you do and it's difficult to wade through), then you may have to breakdown and dig through the CSS code yourself.
If you do find anything out, please share. I plan on doing the same when I get some free time.
    Good luck!

  • Using a file in a Dashboard Embedded Content

If I remember correctly I could include a .pdf file in a dashboard (obiee 10g). Now in 11g, the embedded content properties points to an URL. I suppose I can still access a file (in a network drive or local drive for testing) but I am struggling with the format... I have tried a couple of them but nothing happens...
Pls. any hint on this ?
    Txs.
    Antonio

    Try this
You need to upload file first and then call using downloadFile&path
    ex:
    http://lcoalhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?downloadFile&path=text.pdf

when I click ok, it is throwing the following error :

Hi, I am facing the same issue.
I am using OBIEE 11g with MS Excel 2007 file as source. I have created ODBC Driver by selecting Microsoft excel driver.
    NQSAdminTool.log gives error:
ODBC error state: S1000 code: -5015 message: [Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] External table is not in the expected format
The Admin tool gives error: "Unable to connect database using connection pool", when I try to 'update row count' in Physical Layer.
    Any quick resolution to this?
    Many thanks in advance.

Hi, if you really retrieve an excel file, you can not see the data in ABAP. You may see them in Excel. For this you may use
    CALL METHOD document->open_document_from_table
of the interface i_oi_document_proxy for OLE objects. You can access the data with reference to the interface i_oi_spreadsheet.
Please check [Desktop Office Integration (BC-CI)|http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/Print46c/en/data/pdf/BCCIOFFI/BCCIOFFI.pdf] for details.
But, who knows, perhaps you want "And Now For Something Completely Different".
