Planning for Components to be Provided in Subcontracting

Hi all,
May I know what is the business rational to plan the requirements to be provided for the components (material provide to vendor) for one subcontractor separately from all other requirements with the use of MRP area (i.e. what is the business reason to carry out MRP with MRP areas, to define an MRP area for each individual subcontractor, and thus plan the components to be provided separately for each subcontractor).
Can you give me an example of business process (i.e. business requirement) which require this kind of setup on subcontracting process?
thanks.
tuffy

Hi Tuffy,
one example for using subcon MRP areas is the following process:
- components are usually provided by a 3rd-party vendor directly to the subcontractor
- in the tab "delivery address" of the purchasing document the subcontractor can be specified that shall receive the components
- the MRP-run can automatically create such purchase requisitions but only when it knows the subcontractor that shall receive the components. This can only be realized by subcon MRP areas.
Best Regards
Uwe

  • Background Network Heuristic planned for component which it should not be

    Hello Expert,
I ran a Network Heuristic in the background without selecting the option "Take into account found components in planning run".  However, when the job completed, I review the log and it showed that the components also being planned as well.
Looks like the background planned for components regardless of this option check or not.  Please advise
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi,
You  mean to say  that system fully plans the components  with or without setting the indicator "Take into account ........".
To me behaviour expected may be as below with additional setting of u201CNet Change planning u201C
Without setting  the indicator( "Take into account ......") , System may be  only exploding  the dependent demand for a BOM level in the first production location found in the planning direction.  The  dependent demand  may be  neither covered nor to be  propogated further by the supply chain.
With setting indicator, the dependent demands are expected to be covered and furter propogation.

  • Subcontracting - How to plan the components in MRP

    Hi Experts,
We have the following  requirement to map the subcontracting scenario in SAP MM.
    1) Subcontracting PR has to be generated during MRP run for all the FERT materials ( Done )
    2) Auto convertion of PR into PO by scheduling the batch job ( Done )
    3) Goods issue with subcon delivery ( done )
    4) Pick list from subcon delivery ( possible)
My question here is How to create the delivery schedule lines for components thru MRP and made available to the subcontractor in the required date.Client does not want to maintain the inventory for even 1 week.
    Example :
    FG required date 7.01.2009
    PO release date 30.12.2008
Component level A Requirement date 29.12.2008 ( How we can control in MRP)
Component Level B Requirment date 03.01.2009 ( How we can control in MRP)
    Appreciate your reply.
    Thanks / Karthik

    Hi
    Thanks for your reply.
Let me brief about the process.
Client wants to consign the components at subcontractor's place and will be considered as a separate plant. So the subcontractor will manage the component stock which is supplied by third party vendor directly to the subcontractors place. so there will not be any frieght cost issue.
But the client requirement is not to spend more money on  component inventory so when the level 1 components are required the system should generate the delivery scedule with required dates.
    1) Component A is reqd to manufacture the HALB assemply at level 1
    2) Component B & HALB to manufacture the Finished Goods at level 2
    My requirement during MRP run
    1) PR for FG
    2) Delivery Scedule for Component A with reqd date
    3) Delivery scedule for component B with reqd date
Can I make HALB as phantom BOM???
or Suggest me how I can do other way round..
    Thanks / karthik

  • Unrestricted stock consideration for components in pure MT

    Dear Experts,
I have a scenario where i want to run MD50 against sale order but i want the system to consider the unrestricted stock of components (and not the sale order stocks) when raising purchase requisitions or planned orders for components (SFG/RM/PM). Can you please tell the configuration/master data settings that i need?
    Regards,
    Sunit

    Dear Sunit,
I have maintained strategy *20 in the FG and SFG*
Is SFG is going to be sold separately apart from FG ??
So I have 2 related questions- first, should the system not create planned order for the SFG and second, how do I know whether for the RM system is considering the unrestricted MTS stock or is it also considering the unrestricted sale order stock of RM ?
Are you creating sales order for SFG as strategy 20 is maintained
If indi/coll indicator is maintained then then you cannot find as sales order stock  ( E ) for this materials
this materials will be consumed by un=restricted use stock
Suggestion - As per your initial query solution has been provided so please close this thread & raise new thread

  • Rule based ATP is not working for Components

    Hi All,
Our requirement is to do availability check through APO for Sales order created in ECC,so we are using gATP.
Requirement: We are creating salesorder for BOM header (Sales BOM) and avaialbility check should happen for components i.e. Product avalaibility & Rule based substitution.
Issue: Product availiabilty is working for components but rules based substituion is working,  mean Rules are not getting determind for components.
    Settings:
    - Header doesnot exist in APO and compnents do exist in APO
    - Availability check is not enabled for header item category and enabled for Item category for components
    - Rules have been created for Components in APO
    - Rule base ATP is activated in Check instructions
We have also tried MATP for this i.e. PPM created in APO but still didn't get the desired result.
If we create salesorder for the component material directly then Rule based ATP is happening, so for components Rule based ATP is not working.
How do we enable enable Rulesbased ATP for components, i mean is there any different way to do the same.
    Thanks for help.
    Regards,
    Jagadeesh

    Hi Jagdeesh,
If you are creating BOM in ECC and CIFing PPM of FG/Header material to APO, I think you need to CIF Header material, too, with material integration model.
Please include header material in you integration models for material, SO and ATP check as well.
For component availability check, you can use MATP; but for MATP, FG should be in APO. You need not to CIF any receipts of FG (stock, planned orders, POs etc), so that MATP will be triggered directly. Then maintaining Rules for RMs will enable to select available RMs according to the rule created.

  • Cost center planning for overhead calculation

    Gurus,
I have a doubt regarding the cost center planning for overhead calculation.
    My scenario is:
There is a service cost center from which a certain percentage I want to allocate to the products as overhead. Now while doing so I have created a cost center and a cost element of type 43 (internal activity allocation). This cost element is the base for overhead calculation. Also I have created one cost element of type 41 (overhead rates). I have defined the credit (of cost sheet) with the cost element of type 41 and the cost center as mentioned.
Now I am facing a problem while planning the cost center with cost element type 43 through KP06.The system is throwing the error message: 'Cost element xxxx can only be used for activity input'. My understanding is we must carry out the planning for the cost center to allocate a certain percentage to the product cost estimate. If I am not allowed to use the cost element of type 43 to plan, what should I use for the planning?
    Request your suggestion.
    Thanks in advance!
    Snigdho.

    Hi
Since you mentioned catg 43 cost element, I thought you are using Activuty Type
To apply overhead on the product during CK11N, you need not plan any value on the cost center... The values planned in the cost center can not be used as a BASE in your costing sheet....
    It goes like this
    1. Your cost estimate has BOM + Routing
    2. So, the cost elements that you would see during CK11N, can be broadly classified into 3 types
    a. Primary cost ele - Material Consumption accounts for BOM components
    b. Secondary cost ele (Catg 43) - If you use any actvity type in the routing
    c. Secondary cost ele (Catg 41) - These cost elements are parasites... They need some basis to calculate the overhead value... That basis can be either the (a) or (b) above.....
I think, what you are planning to do is Plan Primary cost ele in a cost center and trying to use the same as the Basis.. That wont work!
What you need to do is
    a. PLan the values in the cost center, say, 100,000 USD
    b. Absorb it on the basis of 2.a or 2.b
If 2.b is not applicable in your case, since you are not using activity types, then 2.a is the Only option left for you
    Hope it is clear....

  • Creation of Purchase Req with components in the case of subcontracting

    Hi Frndz,
We would appreciate if anybody can help up us in this.We are trying to build a Z-functionality to create a purchase requisition for subcontracting material (with special procurement key=30).We are able to create PR with item category "L".But the demand for components are not active.(In the item details of PR-tab:material data-)The TAB "Components" is seen. But on clicking it is not going to the items and the demand is also not created for these items.
Can anybody tell us which is the standard BAPI for this Or is there any particular field to be passed in FM BAPI_REQUISITION_CREATE?

  • Best Practice for Plan for Every Part (PFEP) Database/Dashboard?

    Hello All-
I was wondering if anyone had experience with implementing / developing a Plan for Every Part (PFEP) Database in SAP. My company is looking to migrate its existing PFEP solution (Custom developed Excel/Access system) into SAP. If you are unfamiliar, a PFEP is a dashboard view of a part/material that provides various business groups with dedicated views to data from Material Masters, Info Records, and Vendor Master Records and combines it with historical/forecasting information. The goal is to provide a single source to all the part/material settings for a given part.
Is there a Best Practice PFEP in SAP? Or if this is something that most companies custom develop in ERP or BI?
    Thanks in advance.
    -Ron

I think you will likely get a response in SAP ERP - Logistics Materials Management (SAP MM)
additionally you might want to do some searches based on SAP Lean Inventory, perhaps Kanban. I am assuming you are not using WM or EWM either?
Where I have seen PFEP incorporated into the supply chain strategy this typically requires not inconsiderable additions to the alternate UoM in MM dropping of automatic replenishment levels (reorder level) and rethinking aspects of the MRP plan so be prepared or significant additional data management work if you haven't already started on that. I believe Ryder logistics uses PFEP and theirSAP infrstructure is managed by IBM; might be an idea to try and find a linkedin  resource from there. You may also find one of the ASUG supply chain, logistics,  MM or WM sigs a good place to also ask questions and look for answers.

  • CO07 and special stock indicator for components

    Hello,
My final purpose is to be able to call components from project stock in production orders without header material, created in CO07.
I notice a strange behavior and would be glad to recieve some explanations.
Production orders are assigned to a WBS. If I indicate the WBS in the CO07 selection screen, the special stock indicator for the components is determined as expected:
If view MRP 4 for the component says "Individual requirements" then special stock indicator is set to "Project stock"
If view MRP 4 for the component says "Collective requirements" then special stock indicator is set to "Common stock"
Second scenario is that I don't provide the WBS in the CO07 selection screen, but provide it in the assignment tab later. In this case, the special stock indicator for components will always be empty (common stock) by default, without any possibility to modify this manually.
Is anybody able to explain me why?
    Merry Christmas to all.

    Hi!
Actually it is not related to SAP Manufacuting Execution solution - so you'd rather re-post the question to ERP-related forum. This can help you find a proper one.

  • Apple Care plan for MBP

Does anyone know why the Apple care plan for MBP is more expensive than all the other Apple care plans? Even the Mac Pro has a cheaper plan. It doesn't make sense to me.

It's obvious to me. My Mac Pro sits in one place, undisturbed. It has a generous, efficient cooling system. It's easy to service.
My MacBook Pro is carried around town. It's jostled back and forth in my bag as I walk, or as my car goes over bumps. I'm always putting it on tables, creating a slight impact each time. It goes through a lot more power/temperature cycles as it sleeps and wakes. The components are smaller, tightly packed, more expensive to disassemble and service. A laptop goes through a lot more stress and trauma than a desktop, so a laptop is much more prone to failure.

  • What is the best plan for me? *please read details*

My parents are getting me a 4S for my birthday but I have to pay for the plan.
    - I live in Alberta
    - I will use less than 500MB data
    - I have many friends in different provinces I will be texting
    - I never talk on the phone for more than 200 min a month
    - I'm currently with Koodo
    - I will be in Costa Rica for 4 months in the new year; I am probably gonna get a SIM card when I'm down there.
What's the best service provider, and what's the best plan for me?

    Thanks, Meg.
So would a Verizon device-only iPhone 5S still be the better choice if I plan to use GSM in the US (and not the CDMA part of the Verizon iPhone which would lock me to their service).
Ideally, if I had the device in my hand, I would like to use TMobile's prepaid plan (40$ for unlimited talk, text, and 500 mb of data). Upon getting the phone, couldn't I just discard the included verizon simcard (without my activation) and just pop in the TMobile SIM card since the Verizon device-only instrument comes with the GSM unlocked? ( In other words, I don't have to ask Verizon to unlock the GSM part of the iPhone 5S )
Also, if this is what my goal is (to use a prepaid Tmobile sim), I could just buy an unlocked sim-free iPhone 5S from Apple, right? I dont have to ask for a Verizon device-only iPhone 5S if I want nothing to do with Verizon or use their CDMA service? I'm guessing a device-only iPhone 5s (regardless of carrier label) is the same as unlocked sim-free iphone 5S?

  • Planning for iMac i7

I'm planning for my move from a G4 PowerMac running Tiger to a 27" iMac and need help with some questions:
Does Time Machine do the same job as Carbon Copy Cloner which I now use? Is it reliable?
Should I partition the 1TB HD? Can't get used to that space after having only 80GB.
I have a small library of disks of Art, Italian literature,Histories and National Geographic Maps that require Windows 95 or later; will I be able to display these on the iMac, and how?
I have at least 50 applications, from utilities to photo and recording programs, Toast and eReaders - in general, are most of these likely to need upgrading to run on Snow Leopard or is SL backwardly compatible with them?
Would transferring these apps likely to cause any conflicts if they won't run on SL?
Be grateful for advice from anyone who has had this experience.

Does Time Machine do the same job as Carbon Copy Cloner which I now use? Is it reliable?
They do more or less the same thing, but they do it differently. Carbon Copy Cloner's strength is in doing full, bootable clones of your hard drive, something Time Machine cannot do (it can do a full backup, but the backups aren't bootable). Time Machine's strength is in doing incremental backups with a very easy interface for restoring a file. I use both; Time Machine for my day-to-day backups, and CCC for an occasional full clone of my boot volume.
Reliability of TM is an open question: I've never had a bit of problem with it, but some people have. I could say the same about CCC, though. A "belt and suspenders" approach to making backups is IMHO a wise policy, particularly when dealing with irreplaceable content.
Should I partition the 1TB HD? Can't get used to that space after having only 80GB.
My usual advice is if you have to ask the question - that is, you don't already know of a need for multiple partitions - then you probably don't need to partition.
I have a small library of disks of Art, Italian literature,Histories and National Geographic Maps that require Windows 95 or later; will I be able to display these on the iMac, and how?
You may be able to to display them, but whether you can and what you'll need to do will depend on how these disks are created. If they're standard image files, in all probability there will be a Mac OS X application that can display them. But if they have proprietary display applications, then you would probably have to run Windows, either via Boot Camp or one of the virtualization solutions (Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, VirtualBox) so that you can run the program.
I have at least 50 applications, from utilities to photo and recording programs, Toast and eReaders - in general, are most of these likely to need upgrading to run on Snow Leopard or is SL backwardly compatible with them?
There is a high probability that you will have to upgrade some if not all of your apps. Even if you don't absolutely have to upgrade, you'll want to get versions that contain code for the Intel processor so that the applications run with best performance. Check with the developer of each application for statements on Snow Leopard and Intel compatibility.
Would transferring these apps likely to cause any conflicts if they won't run on SL?
They might. It depends on the application, so we can't provide a blanket statement. Again, consult the developers.
    Regards.

  • Explain Plan for Procedure

    Hi,
For getting the explain plan for a query, we use the statement
"explain plan for " + Query
Similarly, to get an explain plan for a procedure, do we have any way like

    Hi Robert,
I am working on an utility application which will execute the procedure and show the explain plan to the user for him to analyze the explain plan and take necessary steps for optimization. I am showing the Procedure inputs to the user, allowing him to enter values and taking them and executing the procedure. I am setting the trace and extracting the explain plan for the procedure using TKPROF utility and showing it to the user.
While doing so, the trace file is stored in udump folder. I am accessing the trace file from TKPROF utility. I am able to run the TKPROF from the command prompt. But if I try automating the TKPROF command in a .NET application using Process.Start, it says "Not able to access the file.". I tried giving full permissions to Everyone and it still throws the error. Kindly guide me how to proceed.. A different approach that you might want to consider (as indicated by William):
    - Flush the shared pool and use a unique MODULE description for each execution of your procedure (e.g. using DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO.SET_MODULE), e.g. using a logon trigger
    - Query V$SQL for your unique MODULE description and run DBMS_XPLAN.DISPLAY_CURSOR for each corresponding child cursor found (SQL_ID + CHILD_NUMBER) in the shared pool. This plan generation could be automated using a procedure
The result of this approach corresponds to the tracing using TKPROF since it will provide the actual execution plans used at runtime rather than separate EXPLAIN PLAN results which might differ from the actual plans.
This assumes that your shared pool is sufficiently large to hold all the child cursor created by your procedure without aging them out while the procedure is running. It's probably also only applicable to an environment where not too much work is being done while running this test and the recommended flushing of the shared pool.
