Play audiobook drm audiobook on my

i have an eaudio book http://madrono.stockton.lib.ca.us:23...sicSearch.aspx drm'd .wma that plays on my windows media player . i used wmp to 'synchronize' it to my zen, its a 50mb file and took about /2hr, so it must have been doing something special. but can't play it on the zen?? "there is a problem playing this audio" thats really helpful.
thought i jumped thru all the hoops here but no luck. my library even publishes a list of 'tested' players and my zen is on the list.
does anybody know the cryptic secret sauce recipe how this is supposed to work.

I'm running iTunes 9 and I have a similar situation with my new iPad. Although if I take the Audiobook and I change the Media Kind under Options from Audiobook to Music, I'm able to sync the file.
I believe it's something with the new version of iTunes.

  • Playing audiobooks

Hello people, I have some trouble with playing audiobooks on my Ipod Mini. What happens is that when I start resuming an audiobook the playback starts, but after a few minutes it decides that there is the end of the audiobook and jumps back to the main screen, so I have to scroll through sometimes several hours of audiobook to get back to the position where I was. If I remember the time of that position (which is not always the case).
Does anybody else have this same problem, or if they had what kind of solution can used to "repair" this?

This problem can occur when homemade audiobooks -- not purchased from the iTunes Music Store or from Audible.com, but made from audio CDs, mp3 files, or digitized from cassettes, etc. and then converted into a bookmarkable .m4b file for play on the iPod -- exceed certain file size and playing time lengths for a single file. For your mini, assuming that your audiobook is encoded in stereo to avoid the mono-lockup bug that occurs for 4G/mini/photo iPods playing .m4b files, the FAQs & Helpful Links for iPodders interested in Audio Books at the iLounge Books and Spoken Word forums recommends that you keep this under 5 hours in playing time and under 320 MB in size for individual files.
Another way to play a number of audiobook files and remember playback position is to create a smart playlist, with conditions like "Album is <my album>" and "Playcount is 0", with live updating turned on. When you play the audiobook from the playlist on your iPod, files that you have finished listening to will roll off the playlist once the playcount increments, and the most recent "episode" will be at the head of the list. This smart playlist technique can be used in combination with individual files that have been made bookmarkable (.m4b files) or with mp3 files that have "Remember Playback Position" checked on the File->Get Info options pane. The files you've listened to remain on your iPod (just not on the playlist), and can be accessed through the other Menus. If you autosync your playlists to your computer, these played through files will be automatically removed from your iPod in the synchronization process.
If the above does not describe your situation, and you subscribe to podcasts through the iTunes Music Store, the other possibility is to check for empty podcasts folders on your mini and delete them. This is a general bug foriPods under iTunes 6 (and maybe 5), where folders are created when you subscribe to a particular podcast. If you've deleted all the episodes, but NOT the folder, it can lead to the kind of interaction and skipping that you've seen with any bookmarkable files. (The reason is that all podcasts subscribed through iTMS have an "atom" added to their headers which make them bookmarkable on later generation iPods, 4G (with recent iPod update) and later).

  • I want to buy the new iPod Nano to play audiobooks. Does it remember the postion where switch-off took place and resume from there? Can one rewind and replay freely?

I want to buy the new iPod Nano to play audiobooks. Does it remember the postion where switch-off took place and resume from there? Can one rewind and replay freely?

    1. Many thanks! I look forward to your revert on being able to freely rewind and replay with the 7th Gen iPod Nano.
    2. Re resuming from the position where one left off - I meant after switch-off and not merely pause. Often, with audiobooks, I have to stop for the day, and resume maybe after 1-2 days. I'll be grateful if you can check this too
    3. The above features make the iPod Classic a joy to use, but I have reservations about using it on walks because of its HDD.
    4. Greatly appreciate the trouble you are taking. Best regards.

  • Playing a DRM (FMRMS) protected .flv with a space in the filename fails on OS X

As the subject says, when trying to play a DRM encrypted .flv with a space in the filename it fails on OS X it works on Windows and I am 99% sure it works on Linux as well.
I changed my files to not include a space but it appears now that if there is a space in any part of the path as well it fails.
If anyone has an idea on what to do it would be appreciated.
I have tried to use the File.nativePath and File.url properties after confirming that File.exists returns true.
I tried escaping the spaces manually with + and %20 but none seem to work.
The error is that the file just doesn't seem to play.  I will update this question if I find any more information.
    Thanks
    Glen.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Ipod nano not playing audiobooks for more than one minute at a time

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?  I stopped using it after I couldn't play an audiobook for more than a minute before it stopped.  A friend thought she had fixed it, but I downloaded another audiobook to the ipod nano and it did the same thing...played for a minute and then turned off.  I want to take it with me on a 8K walk, but it is discouraging.

No there is no multi-select for creating SQL-Loader scripts.
You can either create them separately or create them all and
then discard the one you do not need.

  • The 'Music' app no longer remembers the place when playing Audiobooks.

I have been downloading Audiobooks from Audible to iTunes for around 10 years. I always ensure that the settings include 'remember place' before uploading them to 'Music' on (currently) my iPhone 4.
In the last few weeks this seems to have stopped working.
I selected all of my Audiobooks and applied the 'remember place' flag to all of them and connected the iPhone again to sync it.
It worked! ... Once. Second time I stopped the player, when I went back to it, it returned to where it had started the previous time; 3 hours 41 minutes. Now, every time I stop the player it returns to 3:41.
I suspect that the cause is that the 'lock screen' shows the player with the book, and always stays at 3;41, even when playing. My feeling is that this overrides the players pointer, because the minute the phone is unlocked, back it goes to 3:41.
Does anyone have any ideas how to get round this?
    Many thanks
    Regards
    Cleonw

WORKAROUND: In iTunes, select the podcast files and hit CMD-I (show info). Set the genre to something other than "Podcast", and in the Options tab, set the Media Type to Music. You can do this to the files that are on your iPhone. If you do this to the files on your computer, they will no longer show up as Podcasts - they'll be mixed in with music files in your library. You can then put these podcasts into playlists on the iPhone, and they'll show up on the phone once it's disconnected. You might need to fool around with this a bit - try it more than once, etc. - I had some podcasts not show up on the iPhone until after a SECOND connect-and-disconnect operation with the computer. Others here might do some experimenting and figure out a smoother set of instructions that will always work - but this is a starting point.
Note that I ALWAYS "manage music and video files manually" - I NEVER "sync" music and video. Your mileage may vary.
Apple - please listen: The handling of podcasts in iOS 7 is not a feature, it's a bug. As you can tell from the comments here, MANY people need to manage podcasts as if they were music files (and sometimes, THEY ARE!!!!). The arbitrary decision to treat podcasts differently is WRONG - an audio file is an audio file. I don't need to buy one TV to watch sports and one TV to watch news - because video is video. Get it? If you want to provide a Podcasts app, that's fine, and anyone who wants to use it can do so. But don't RUIN the previous, excellent functionality that we had before, when it's completely unnecessary and a colossal pain (not to mention insult) to your customers. And in some cases, it's a serious driving safety issue.
I'll be watching this space to see if others can refine the basic workaround that I've found.
UPDATE: It appears that changing the genre is unnecessary, only the "Media Type". It's probably best to do this only to the copies on the iPhone, so the files in your computer's library are not altered.

  • Trying to play Audiobooks with my Creative ZE

Hi there!?I?ve downloaded a few Audiobooks from "Audible.co.uk" in format 4, and then got them into my Audible Manager program and set my device (creative ZEN Vission M), and I?ve imported them into my Device but When I try playing anyone of them a message appears: "You have no license to play this track". I have no idea about What?s going on but maybe someone down here suffered the same situation and can give me some advice. Thanks a lot.

Yes, first try deleing both songs.
    If still problem
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, ,make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Playing audiobooks in Nano problem w/track numbers

I load audiobooks into Touch and label with disk 1 of 5, 2 of 5, etc and the entire book plays thru w/no problem. I do the same for Nano 3G and the tracks show up individually (track 1 shows 5 times, track 2 shows 5 times, etc). Why the difference? Nano plays all the track 1 then all the track 2...Is there a way to get into Nano so the audiobook will play thru properly? Do you know why the 2 players are acting differently? Thanks for your help.

There's quite a few differences between those iPods - like how it tells you about how the battery is doing without ejecting on the Touch and you get nothing on the nano.
I didn't know that the Touch did it differently, but the best fix I've found on the nano is to download a script from Doug's scripts http://dougscripts.com/itunes/itinfo/jointogether.php
The procedure is a few steps but basically after you have that script installed you bring your book in and for each disk you select the tracks and then go to the script menu (the funny S) and run the script. You may have some learning to get things in the right order. Once it creates the single track you hit Get Info and switch the type from Music to Audiobook. Repeat for the other disks. If you want you could cram all the disks together in one track.
This also creates little track jump points which allows you to skip forward or backward by those tracks. Some other solutions don't do that as far as I can tell.

  • ITunes says it's authorized my computer, but I still can't play audiobooks

I'm having a very weird and frustrating problem. I've just bought an audiobook from the iTunes store, and I can't play it. Every time I try to play it a dialog comes up that asks me for my password so I can authorize my computer with the iTunes store, and when I type it in, it tells me that I'm authorized (actually, what it says is that the computer already was authorized). But the audiobook does not start playing. So I click it to play it again, and once more, the dialog comes up asking for my password, like the computer never was authorized. Of course, the same thing happens if I type in my password again (It tells me I'm authorized, but doesn't allow me to play the file).
I've tried deauthorizing my computer and authorizing again, deauthorizing all my computers from the iTunes store and uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes from scratch. Nothing worked, still wouldn't authorize me.
Since I can't seem to authorize my computer, I can't copy the file to my devices, which all means that there is no way I can play the audiobook that I bought at all. This is really frustrating, and I'm hoping someone can help.

  • IPod not playing audiobook

I recently purchased a 3 part audiobook from iTunes. Each of the three parts of the audiobook shows up in my iTunes library and it is reflected in my iTunes "purchases." Only the first two parts show up on iPod; parts 1 of 3 and 2 of 3. Part 3 of 3 does not show up in iPod Audiobook category. It does not transfer to iPod via auto synch or manual transfer, at least as far as "I" understand how to do so. I can play part 3 of 3 through iTunes, or computer. But, that defeats purpose of iPod.

  • Iphone 4 will not play audiobook purchased in itunes. Any ideas

Purchased an audiobook on itunes. It worked well until I got to about chapter 7 of 10. Now it will not play on my device. It will appear on the screen as if it is playing, but no sound comes out whether I am using earbuds or the built in speaker.  I don't think it is the media itself because I can locate it in my computer and double click it to play it, and itunes will come up and it will begin to play. Have not tried it on any of my other devices yet.

Same exact problem- a $44 book!

  • Having problem with playing audiobook .mp3 files

I have downloaded some audiobook mp3 files. I can transfer them fine to the Ipod, but when I choose the file to play, it goes through all the steps right up to the playing of the mp3 file, then the backlight shuts off, the screen wipes out and the white apple logo comes on and reboots into the main menu screen list.
As long as I continue to choose these audiobook mp3 files the Ipod will continue to reboot and not play the file.
I have downloaded the same audiobooks on 2 different occasions, and the same thing happens. The files do play through the iTunes library list from my computer.
Any ideas on how to solve this?? I don't have any problems playing any of the other audio book mp3 files that I have dragged and dropped onto the Ipod.

  • Cannot play audiobook on my Sony MP3

I purchased an audiobook from iTunes and copied the MPEG4 file into my Sony MP3 player.  When I press "play" on my MP3 player, I get the message, "Cannot play - Please connect to compliant software and update license information."  How do I do these two things? The audiobook is a protected file.

It can only be played on an Apple authorized device, that does not include your non-Apple MP3 player.
