Hello. I have recorded some interviews on a pocket voice recording and uploaded them into iTunes on my G5 computer.
In order to transcribe the recordings efficiently, I want to slow down the play speed.

This may not help your problem but if you've signed-up from the very beginning on the boards and listed your e-mail address it's already configured to automatically send you e-mails on all the threads you participate in unless you go to the right of the page and click (stop e-mail communications) or click on your profile the click manage e-mail notifications and delete the threads under e-mail notifications.
All the threads you reply to go automatically to your e-mail, so no worries there.

What output formats support the play speed settings on a PC using windows media player?
Here is my need. I need to take my video clips with me on my small PC and view them at slow speed. My playback PC is small and a little slow, so I cant have a very high bitrate. It uses an ATOM processor. It uses windows media player. I noticed the slow playback option is available in some formats when opened with windows media player, other formats--feature not available. What are the best output settings to save my clips on my small PC?

As stated, WMP 11.0.5xxx
OS = XP-Pro SP3
Intel Core2 Quad 2.66GHz
RAM = 4GB
Graphics chip = nVidia GeForce 8800M (recent, but not latest nVidia driver)
I/O = 3x SATA II 7200 RPM 250GB
Virtual Memory = Static 10GB on D:\
WMV's play pretty well in both Slo-Mo and at about 2-3x speed

Playing speed suddenly increases?

I can be quite happily listening to itunes for about an hour then suddenly the playing speed increases rapidly. I have to exit ituens then restart and it works fine again.
I am using itunes 7.3.1.3 with Windows XP Home Edition, Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS sound card and speakers. Never used to have problems until I ran an update one day.
Any ideas how to stop it?

Why can't I adjust play speed?

I have some mp3 audio files that I'm listening to. They play fine. But there's no option anywhere for me to adjust the play speed (i.e. the way there is with Windows Media Player).
If QuickTime doesn't offer such a feature, then can anyone suggest another media player for OS X that does?

c) includes transparent compatibility with its earlier incarnation
d) promises better performance and a more modern architecture

They are used for the same purpose--i.e. to play media files. You'd think that adjusting the play speed is a very basic function of any media player.
The purpose may be the same but the technology is different just as the storage and playback of digital media is different than that used for the storage and playback of analog media even though both used for the rendering of audio and video content.

Let's say to play voice recordings of slow speaking persons faster to save time.

there's no such control in flash though such a feature might be developed in flash using the bytearray class.

Timeline Play Speed While Doing Multicamera Editing

I would like to slow down the timeline about 30% while selecting the angle for the video with the mouse when merging 2 cameras. Is there a way to control the speed? I would obviously not be playing the audio at this time since it would be distorted. Thing can be happening awfully fast on the video line and a more precise edit would be achieved if it was a little slower

Hold down the "k" key and press "L". that will give you 1/3x speed. It's the only variation using the keyboard. You have to hold them down while you click on the angle with the mouse.

Thanks Shawn. I still have trouble with the pushing of the center button. I often want to advance the story and end up mostly with the sound adjustment. That is how the speed got "off". I could see how to do it under audiobook settings, but thought it might be a slider bar under the Now Playing section.
Shreyas - someone more knowledgable than me can help you better, but I just add the book to the library of iTunes and then sync the ipod to it. I just use add to library I think. Good luck.

Play Speed/jump

I have just bought a Sound blaster Li've 24 bit external. When i play tracks in windows media player or a sound plays (i.e. the sound of somebody signing into msn messenger) it speeds it up greatly or jumps past bits. It does not do this all the time, sometimes it works perfectly (however not very often at all). Time scaling is turned off, I have installed the drivers from cd and thus i have absolutely no idea what the problem is.. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Swf play speed and web page speed are Different

Any idea why the swf's visual speed is different when viewed
as a swf or viewed from a browser page?
Some factoids: I have Flash 8.0, Action script 2.0. I have
published the swf (and related html) locally. 15 fps. The flash
contains animation, and an event audio.
When I author and adjust the timing of the audio and the
animation in my flash file it is synchronized. Further, when I
preview the animation it is synched. Also it is synched if I view
the swf from the hard drive.
However, if I invoke the swf's html file, either online or
locally, the visual significantly lags the audio.
It is not a matter of swf size as the swf is .4 meg. It is
not a matter of computer resources as the computer I have is the
latest model nicely equipped Dell.

well, it's not so strange the difference in size.
As I wrote before, it's iWeb that create a new background image for every page.
In the page menu>layout you can choose the background image. My original background image file is just 152Kb.
But in that menu I setted the file as "Tinted image fill" and "Tile".
So iWeb "tints" my original file with a color and change it from jpg to png and then, istead of just "tiling" the image to fill the length of each page, it tiles the tinted image to fill the length of each page and then create a file of that length. So it's not a real tiling, and the background_1 file become different for every page.
In an other web site I just chose a background image and tiled it. Well the bg. file created by iWeb is smaller than the original one and it's really just tiled, so the file is the same for every page, even the length of pages is different.
The problem is the "tinted image fill" setting. As I wrote and as you tested, if you use a graphics editing software, you can create by yourself the "tinted image file" and then use it as background in iWeb without the "tinted image fill" and "tile" setting on, but just "image fill" and "tile" setting on.
The files you dowloaded from my site are not the original one. The original bg file is white with the paper pattern and it's 640X480 152Kb jpg file. You cannot find it on the site, it's just in my hard disk.
So I have to tint the original white paper pattern file with the green I like by a software and then save it as a small jpg file. In iWeb just set this new file as bg "image fill" and "tile".

The Issue Is Majorly Caused When Any Effect Is Applied On The Video And Rendered The Issue Occurs. And By Closing The Application And Restarting The Application Its Works Fine Again But As Soon As The Effects Are Applied Same Problem Occurs Recursively.

All my audio Podcasts play at half speed in the new iOS 5 Music app. Where to find the speed change control that was there in iOS 4.x?

In iOS 4.x there was a button that changed from 1X to 2X to 1/2X and changed the play speed of the podcast. I can not find it in the new Music app in iOS5, but it seems to be set to 1/2X at the moment. How can I change this?

have the same problem, mine is now playing all at half speed, but only with podcasts! I normally play podcasts at 2x speed but the speed button has disappeared in iOS5, so - this is abviously a bug or the soft reads the old setting from somewhere - and there is no way resetting it - so I hope apple will fix this soon, I really play podcasts every day. and the iPhone is not loud enough and it's batteries aren't cool by design. so..
just to support your problem, maybe there's a free player somewhere until apple fixes that bug? (yes, it is a bug - read this problem in several other forums)

Accordion Panel Widget - open and close speed.

Is there any way to change the speed that an Accordion Panel Widget opens and closes?
I would like it to be slower than it is now.

With Accordion we cannot setup the speed as of now , but you can try out composition widget where we can define transition, auto play speed.

Flash media (youtube, pandora, etc) scans thru, does not play media. 32bit Firefox/IE

When I try to play a videos or music from site like Youtube, Pandora, Bandcamp, or anything with a flash player, the media seems to just scan thru at the rate it can be buffered, which is faster than the play speed. No audio with play, sometimes screen shots with flash. Any fix?
But when I go to a site like http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/completion/aih/?exitcode=0, the flash video plays fine.
I am running XP SP3 32bit with both Firefox (10.0.2) and IE (8.0.6001.18702)
Flash player version 11.1.102.63 ( also did the same with ...62)
