Playing a movie in a window
I am creating a program and I need to play a movie. I think I'll have to use NSMovie and NSMovieView, but what do I need to do in Interface Builder, and which methods do I call in Xcode? Can someone please tell me the steps to just simply playing a movie (already inside the application bundle) in a window? Thank you!
I figured out how to do this. You have to select a movie using NSMovie's initializing methods and then choose it with the NSMovieView.

You have three basic options:

Can't play multiple movies in one window
I must be doing something wrong. I wanted to watch a series of video clips (all .mov) in quicktime, but not in 10 different windows. Isn't there a way to highlight 10 clips, and then "play all" and have them open up in one window? For some reason, every time I attempt this, I get 10 quicktime players opening up! I'd just like one at a time, and the ability to skip to through the movies like I would do in iTunes with music. I seem to remember doing this before, but now can't remember how. Any ideas?
The steps are correct but you've left out the one that adjusts the 2 through 9 movies position as compared to the others.
The first video would hold a position of 0,0 (upper left). When you add the second video you need to adjust its "offset" to position it next to but not overlapping the first. Since your videos are 100X75 you would set the offset of the second track too 100,0 (100 pixels to the right of the original and 0 pixels different in height). The third would be 200,0 offset.
On the second row your first file would be 0,75 (75 pixels below the upper video). The second file on the second row would be offset 100,75 and the third would be 200,75.
The third row would be 0,150 followed by 100,150 and 200,150.
You could add a slight "border" between each video and give it a color by using the bgcolor="your color" (standard html color codes) and adding that space by adjusting the offset plus your border width in pixels. Hollywood Squares style of video.

I downloaded the movie '20 feet from stardom' as a rental. It would not play in either windows media player or quicktime. Why?

Play multiple movies in same window area

I'm sure this question has come up before, but couldn't find it.
On my html page I want to have a number of links to my Captivate movies down column on left, and then one movie container on the right, so each time a movie link is clicked, the movie will play within the same container on the right.
I'm using RoboHelp 8 to import and publish my movies. Can import a movie onto my page, but do not see the ability to put a placeholder container on my page so each movie could play within same container.

You adjust a video track location by using the offset. Default location is 0,0 (upper left corner). You may need your calculator to do the math.
Another concept that escapes new users of QT Pro is negative values. You can use a negative value (say -320, 0) to position a track 320 pixels from the original upper left corner. This will put two 320X240 movies in a side by side 640X240 player window.
Don't forget to adjust the track layers. If they are all going to play at the same time they should all have the same layer number. -

MikeSorry, unfortunately I can't get it to work now! (Maybe I hadn't gotten it to work before.) If I click a podcast subscription icon, then the little gear "Tools" icon, there's text that says: "When new episodes are available they will be marked as unplayed." So even if I mark a non-downloaded episode as played, the auto-delete when played option doesn't seem to work. If I do mark the episode as "Played" then use my "Delete" key, the message pops up: "Podcast episodes can't be deleted from the feed." So that seems to settle that.

How can I play HD movies on iTunes on my windows 7 desktop?
My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster2494 and my video card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti. I have no issues running webpages, video games, etc. in HD, however I receive an error whenever I attempt to watch a movie on iTunes in HD. The message reads - To play 'The Movie' in HD, you must have a computer with a built-in display or have it connected to a display that supports HDCP.
Any ideas on how to correct this? Do I need iTunes to detect my hardware? (my computer has an on-board graphics card that is not HD compatible, I had upgraded to the 550.Hello css49er11,

iTunes says I need to install Quicktime. When I clicked on MORE INFO, the Quicktime download is for Windows 7/Vista. I have Windows 8. I can play all movies except Dirty Dancing, altho I can play the extras... Do I need to install Quicktime?
Either you don't have a SIM in the phone, which is required for activation, or you have a phone that was probably hacked to unlock it.

PP CC not playing back footage from timeline. Playhead moves but program window doesn't update.
I have an issue that usually comes up a few minutes after using Premiere Pro CC. Everything is fine and then the program window will stop previewing video from the timeline. Nothing else is frozen though. I can still move the playhead in the timeline around and select/highlight clips. But the program window will freeze on a frame and not update when i press play or move the playhead in the timeline. If I quite PP it will close but the icon still shows it as open so I have to "force quit". When I re-open the program it plays fine but the issue eventually comes up in a couple minutes. I'm guessing this has something to do with render issues… I'm using a Macbook Pro bought in early 2011.
Here are my specs:
Processor -- 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory -- 16GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Startup Disk -- my internal Macintosh HD
OS -- Lion 10.7.5
Graphics -- AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB

Cannot play DVD movies in Windows XP
Does anyone know of any driver that I have to download in order to play just regular old DVD movies with Boot Camp? The CD-ROM aspect of the drive works fine, as I play games all the time...but when I try to play a movie it says that it cannot....has anyone found a fix to this?
Lol well unfortunately it didn't, I installed it, popped a movie in, and this is the messege that i got:
Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card.
It was just a regular DVD movie bought from the store, not a burnt one or anything...I'm confused... -
When I try to play a movie on itunes on my tv that is connected to a windows 8 pc the tv loses connection and then randomly regains connection. Is this a windows error (guessing it is) or something with iTunes?
Delete and redownload them if doing so is free in your country.

How to play MOV files inside Windows Media Center Edition
I've installed QT Pro, but am not able to play MOV files inside Windows Media Center Edition (MCE). Under "My Videos" from the MCE main interface, I can see the files, but once selected, error message indicates unknown/unplayable file type.
How do I get my MOV files to play inside Windows MCE??

Yes, I know that, but that means that I should use at least two applications. I need only one front end to launch all my media files, inluding ripped DVD files, not as separate VOBs but as whole movies decribed in IFO files.

When playing movie in project window it cuts part of the video screen
I purchased Call Recorder for Skype to record my girls violin lesson over skype with their teacher in Bermuda. Now I need to cut certain parts of the video so we can play it during practice .. I don’t want to play the entire video. I had the Record Video set to "Two Track (Advanced)". I imported the recorded .mov file into iMovie. Then I skimmed the video and selected the part that I am interested in and dragged it to the project window. Now when I play the movie in the event browser, it plays the movie as I would like to side by side. However when I play the segment that I selected in the project window, it cuts 1/2 of each window which is not what I want as I would like to able to play this clip showing both the teacher and the student. What do I need to do???? Help!!!!! Thanks!
Hi Runa,
There are a couple of things you need to check. Firstly, click on the small gear icon at the start of the clip (segment). Select "Cropping, Ken Burns and Rotation" from the pop-up menu. In the top left corner of the Viewer, click on "Fit".
Secondly, in iMovie's menu go to File>Project Properties. In the window that opens select the "Timing" tab. For the items "Initial Photo Placement" and "Initial Video Placement" select "Fit in Frame".
You may need to follow only the second suggestion, as this may fix the whole project for you. Otherwise, use the first suggestion for each of the clips (segments) in your project.
Also, in the Project Properties General tab ensure that you have set the correct Aspect Ratio for your project, that is, Widescreen (16:9) or Standard (4:3).

Depending on the age of the monitor, you may not be able to playback any HD content that is purchased in iTunes. One way to check is to download the SD version that comes with the HD version. Check out the articles below for more clarification.
