Playing music from my new 4g ipod touch makes clicking noises in my stereo units speakers. Does not do it on my old Ipod

I have a new iPOD touch and when I play it through my stereo or car, the stereo makes apparently random clicking sounds in the music. It did the same with a unit I returned today for this problem. When I play the same song using my old ipod classic, using the same files, it does NOT make the clicking sound. Any ideas?

I'm having the same exact problem with our ipod touch 4g  - considering exchanging ....but you have done that and still have the same issue??.   Its not a consistant problem and can't recreate it on cue but its irritating when it starts happening cuz you start focusing on the clicking sound.  We've used a couple different USB cables to see if thats the problem and it still happens.
Very interested to hear if anyone as any answers as to why this is happening..... Thanks

  • Can't play music from Universal Dock when iPod classic plugged in

According to the iPod classic manual, one can play music or video while the iPod is connected to the computer or AC power to be charged up. However, this is not working for me. Instead, it says "Connected", and won't actually let me play music unless I unplug the USB cable. I have set iTunes to NOT start automatically, otherwise it will just sync over and over again, and still never play music. I know the iPod and dock are working correctly because if I unplug the USB cable from my computer, it plays music through the dock as expected. Suggestions? Thanks.

Alas, not so easy. No matter what way I use to eject it from iTunes, once it stops with the "Ok to disconnect" bit, if it is still in the cradle (which it needs to be for playing), it toggles back to Connected, and the following dialog box from iTunes pops up, saying:
"The iPod <name of iPod> cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application."
The only application using it is iTunes. I've tried exiting iTunes quickly, no joy. [Aside to discussion forum moderators: There doesn't seem to be a way to paste in a bitmap to show the dialog. Oh well.]
I just found a work-around, basically telling Windows at the OS level to remove the iPod qua USB device (usual way, right-click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon, choose the drive letter associated with the iPod), and that seems to do it. The battery icon is in the AC power state, so it's still on external power even though the OS doesn't see it. So maybe that's good enough. Although that's still something that iTunes ought to be doing, I would think.

  • Having a party - How can we play music from other people iPhones using apple tv?

We are having a party and want people to be able to play music from their own iphones/ipods using our apple tv. is this possible?

either mirror the iphone on to your apple tv or when they are logged into your internet via wifi. If they open their Itunes, the airplay button should appear for them. Just make sure they are connected to your network.

  • REALLY HAVING PROBLEMS PLAYING MUSIC FROM ITUNES

Trying to play music from my laptop via itunes i can click on the track put it just says the song "******" could not be used because the original file can ot be found would you like to locate it"
What do i do what has caused this and why does it keep happening ?

Sounds to me like iTunes lost track of your music. You should probably search your computer for the files, and then add them back to your library (oh, and when you do that, you should delete the old library entry, unless you like duplicates.)

  • [SOLVED] Luck with playing music from an iPod Touch 4th Generation

I have tried to play music from clementine (which is my "when the doodoo hits the fan music player") using my iPod because I know how well it syncs.  Unfortunately, I can view my library of music but when I attempt to play a song, it will crash.  On a side note, I have tried the ifuse and git variants of clementine, libimobiledevice, and ifuse with no luck.  Please do not hesitate to notify me of my ignorance if there is a solution located within these forums.
Anyone willing to give some helpful advice will be much appreciated, thank you.

It won't work. The music database associated with 4th gen ipod touch hasn't been cracked by the libimobiledevice team. Any device earlier than that will work, as long as the database hasn't been updated past version 4. It is ridiculous considering how long the iPod 4G and iPhone 4 have been out.
I know how it feels. I have had a 4th gen ipod touch and have always had to sync it in Windows.

  • IPod 4th gen unable to play music from internal speaker but can with headphones

iPod 4th gen unable to play music from internal speaker but can with headphones
    Can anyone help

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • Transfering Music From a 1st Generation iPod to a New iPod

I just purchased a new iPod and I have a first generation iPod. Is there a way I can transfer the music from my first generation iPod without having to copy every CD onto the new one? Thanks.

The iPod isn't designed for device to device copy but you can transfer the songs on the old iPod back to iTunes and update your new one from there. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

    Floola Mac & Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • How do i play music from my ipod shuffle gen 4 on external powered speakers

Can I play music from my IPOD shuffle gen 4 using external powered speakers?  If so, how do I hook it up?

First a curiosity question. Why do you want to play through the computer? Why not use headphones?
Ok, now to your question. I have never done this before, but this intrigued me. I did some experimenting and got it to work. Here is what I did:
    1) Connect Touch to computer.
    2) Open iTunes.
    3) Your device will show up in the left panel.
    4) Click the little triangle next to your device to expand it.
    5) You now have access to the different content on the Touch.
I have played stuff from Music, Movies and my playlists. Everything works the same way as if it was on your PC.
Hope that helps and good luck!

You may need to do a Restore in iTunes.
Clicking sounds from an iPod that has a hard drive is probably not a good thing.  It is possible that your iPod's hard drive is becoming unreliable.

  • IPod does not play music from the beginning

    Hi there!
The music is properly good on the hard disk of the PC.
The music is imported into iTunes, where it played well from the beginning.
On the iPod, the music is also available.
When playing the music now as follows:
The title starts 6-10 seconds from the start, just after this time the song is played from the beginning, for about 6-10 seconds, then the title is a play on. Then from 12-20 sec from the beginning.
I hope the wording is somewhat understandable.
    Thx for help!
PS: "Remember Position" is not enabled; Start time on each track is 0:00

    Good evening everyone!
    The problem is solved.
It was because of the ZoneAlarm firewall software!
Somehow, the music is cut up by plan no why ...
Firewall uninstalled, delete music from iTunes and the iPod, newly imported gesyncht = works
Thank you very much for your attention!

  • Moving music from pc (crashed) based ipod to new imac

I haven't found this exact situation on the forums, so I hope someone can help.
I have a windows-based ipod mini. My windows machine crashed and the only place I have all of my music is on my ipod.
I am ordering a new imac next week and can't wait to move over! Now, how do I get my music from my pc based ipod onto my new imac. From what I've read, the first thing I will have to do is reformat my ipod to the mac which will erase all of my music.
Is there a way to authorize my new machine, connect my windows-based ipod, transfer music over, and then reformat it to a mac ipod?
If not, is there another way? Perhaps hook my ipod to my husbands Dell laptop. Back all my music up to Cd's and then hook up to new mac and let it reformat (erase) my music off my ipod. Then reload music via the backup cd's? Would this work? Thanks for any help. I do not want to mess this up as I have a pretty big library on my ipod.

please understand that Mac computer can read iPod formatted on a PC i.e. FAT32 but not the other way round, for how to do the transfer from iPod to Mac, please read the following

  • Can I transfer my music from a Windows formatted iPod to my new MacBook Pro?

I just ordered a 15 inch 2.3 ghz MacBook Pro and I can't wait to get it. The only thing I am wondering is if I will have any trouble transferring all of my music from my Windows formatted iPod (8gb 3rd generation iPod Nano) to the new MacBook Pro. Should I be able to follow all the steps in this article without any problems?
    Thanks in advance,

In the iPod's user manual should be instructions on how to put the iPod into disk mode so that it will appear as an external hard drive. You can then copy your music to the Mac.
