Playlists on EA4500 Media Server

Does anybody know how to get playists to work on the EA4500 Media Server?
I have the Music folder share working with a Roku Soundbridge, so now would like to copy my iTunes playlists to this folder as well. I've tried creating a .m3u file in the Music folder but the Soundbridge doesn't recognize it. I put the following one line in this file, which just points to the file stored on the disk connected to the EA4500.
/500GB_backup/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/Blondie/Best Of Blondie/05 Sunday Girl.m4a
regards,
js.

Was the music folder located on your external HD? What the media server can do for you is like to monitor the location of the media files. Lets say your media files is located in an external HDD and you want to use media server to play those files. Then you can specify the location of those media files and those files will appear on your media player(i.e vlc or wmc) under the media server name.

  • EA4500 Media Server Scan options

I have all media set to be shared by default. When I have the scan folders option set to two hours it never scans, when it is set to six it seems to work correctly. Am I the only one with this problem, what could be the cause? I am using the smart wifi firmware. Just curious if anyone has experienced this and if maybe something like a router complete reset might fix it.

    Hi,
Do you really need to scan the folders every 2 hours? The media files stored, is it being updated multiple times every 2 hours? I personally set media scanning to run once every 24 hours so that it won't give too much load on the router. Frequent scanning will give too much load on the router and it would affect other performance. Please understand that this is just a router and it's power is not comparable to your computer.

  • EA4500 router and media server file limit

I purchased an EA4500 router yesterday and it arrived today. Set it up, copiued my media library over to a new Seagate Expansion drive (2 TB) and it currently is filled with 320GB of files. Music folder, Pictures folder and Video folder. Thing is only some of the files are showing up. Looks very much like some stupid limitation on file numbers. I specifically purchased this router because of the media server and now it is useless.
Is there a fix for this sillyness? I can't seem to find a way to turn the file limit off. I truly hope I haven't purchased another rubbish router. The TP Link router I replaced had no such file size limit and was 2/3 of the price, easily.
    Yours, not amused

Yes, I checked that before I bought myself a Seagate Expansion drive 2TB. The router list shows 1.5 and 3TB drives in that range and I would say that the 2TB is veyr likely to be supported also.
The files are bog standard file types! Some files show up but not all of them.
FLAC (you missed that filetype off the supported audio types btw) and MP3 show up but not all of them.
MPEG2 files show and play..but not all are visible.
None of my images in my photo library show up and they are all JPEG. No esoteric file formats.
It seems though that the media server just doesn't show anything after it reaches a file limit. It really isn't up to anything much if that is the case and for the money that router should be better. Furthermore, the folders with audio albums in doesn't display the contects in the correct alphanumeric order. I was playing an album by Cassandra Wilson and immediately noticed that the songs were in the wrong order. Something totall wrong there...the server has to be displaying them like that.
I have Marantz CR603 all-in-one hif fis in 3 different rooms in the house (living room and two bedrooms). Sometimes 2 can connect simultatenously but 3 won't as the server falls over. Even with two units connected it will suddenly disconnect for no reason. My connection isn't slow It is fast anbd yet accessing the media server is very very slow and especially simultatenous access.
It seems to me that the media server element is a stripped down token effort but all the sales garb for the router doesn't mention aything about its silly limitations.
I think the best thing for me to do now is return this to Amazon for a full refund and find another brand of router.  It was bad enough 'adjusting' to the cloud managment - a firmware download initiated on install and installed that. Some of the config pages don't work properly (that needs an urgent fix as well...IP address fields with only 3 fields that won't allow you to enter last 3 octets of address and you can't apply setting) and the dumbned down way of presentating the options makes it a pain to setup if you are used to the usual way of setting up a router. If I setup a router manually it takes a fraction of the time that the hand holding setup nonsense takes. I get the idea, and it looks pretty and all big buttony how everyhting is going these days but there should be a seriously 'normal' advanced mode for people that don't require their hands held through the setup and configuration.
Very dissappointed. It's a fast router as well.

  • EA4500 - Serviio Media Server Setup

I have Serviio Media server on my Windows 7 PC and I want to view files using my iPad.  This worked for me before I upgraded my network to the EA4500.  Does anyone have step by step instuctions on how to make Serviio work using the EA4500?  I think I have to "open" up a couple of ports, but not sure how to do that with the EA4500 UI.  Thanks.

Is the router on Smart Wi-fi firmware right now or still on the Classic? It is best to obtain the ports for the Serviio by calling their tech support. If the router is still on the Classic firmware, you go to Applications and Gaming and do port range forwarding for the Serviio. For the Smart Wifi firmware, you click Security on the side panel and click Apps and Gaming and then go to Port Range Forwarding. I found a link for Serviio setup in google, click here.

  • Media Server on EA4500

Hello everyone...I just setup the Linksys EA4500 router on my computer and I am able to hook up to the internet on my computer and on my Logitech Revue.  How do I access the media server?  It is not showing up on the Logitech Revue or my Samsung TV?  Thanks in advance for your help!!

The Cisco Connect software comes with the Linksys Wireless-N (E - Series) routers that let you manage your network easier. For the setup process, you need to perform the following:
    i.   Verify that there is an active Internet connection between the computer and modem
ii. Setting up the router using Cisco Connect
    QUICK TIPS:
The router’s power adapter needs to be plugged to your router and into an available power outlet.
If using a wired connection, the first Ethernet cable needs to be plugged to the computer’s LAN port into any of the router’s blue numbered Ethernet ports.
The second Ethernet cable should be plugged to the modem’s Internet port and the other end into the router’s yellow Internet port.
Ensure that you have no firewall enabled that may prevent the router from being detected.

  • How to create playlist on amazon using adobe media server

    Hello All ,
I have created ec2 instance on Amazon  and  completed the On-demand streaming with Flash Media Playback and configure fms and now  I am  able to play my video by using my public DNS . Now I want to login using Flash Media Server Administration Console. I have set username and password in fms.ini file but until I not able to login.
    please help me

No sample is required ..... the data fiel is created automatically for you and is based on the structure of the design (if none is implied with a data connection). To get the data out of the form you can use a button that has this code on the click event:
    xfa.host.exportData();
When th euser clicks the button a dialog will appear allowing th euser to select a location for the file. Note that it will save it as an XDP (XML Data Package) file, but it is simply XML. There are a number of parameters that you can pass to the command that will allow you to save as XML directly. You can look that up in the Help files.

    Hi,
anyone has idea if Linksys if providing a firmware upgrade to fix Twonky Media Server limitation over 8000+ files, which is quite annoying?

  • Questions on the capabilities of the Adobe media server and system requirements

    Hello
We need to send multiple video streams on different computers and screens in our organization. To do this, we need a dedicated server with the following functionality:
    - transmit up to ten (or even more) HD and FullHD streams simultaneously
    - manage playlists in real time without relaunching stream every time after adding items to the playlist
    - imposing of any text and video effects
    - use a variety of sources: a folder with pictures for the slideshow, video and audio files, video capture devices, video streaming from other resources
Is Adobe media server suitable for our tasks?
What are the system requirements (I do not mean minimum requierements)?
If we buy adobe media server, will it be enough? Or we will have to buy additional software products to provide all the necessary functionality?
    Thank you.

    1 and 2 is possible
    3 is not
4 AMS is not an encoder and does not encode or create streams. You have to use other software for that.Adobe FMLE is for live streaming...Use third part software like manycam(a virtual webcam on your machine) to generate video sources out of slide shows.

  • Mac Mini or Apple TV as a media server.

I am planning on setting up a media server and I'm not sure what would be the best choice. I would prefer to use a Mac Mini, but would I loose the video quality that I would get from an Apple TV?
    The Apple TV specs indicate:
    Video formats supported
    * H.264 and protected H.264 (from iTunes Store): Up to 5 Mbps, Progressive Main Profile (CAVLC) with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps, 960 by 540 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
    * iTunes Store purchased video: 320 by 240 pixels, 640 by 480 pixels, 720 by 480 pixels (anamorphic), or high-definition 720p
    * MPEG-4: Up to 3 Mbps, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 720 by 432 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
The Mac Mini specs dove give me enough information to compare.

Anything the AppleTv can play-the mini can.
Playlists from the iTunes store videos can be done on AppleTV, but not
on the Mac Mini. There are third party solutions, but they are hardly easy to setup. I'm working on a setup right now where it is quite a bit more complicated on the Mac Mini:

  • Flash Media Server 3 / FlashPioneer Video Chat

Just recently, I purchased and installed

I decided to use Flash Media Server 3 (developer addition)

Server from the client end although all other communication aspects
work fine. When a connection is made the login starts but doesn't
open the application, it just keeps running. The Client side has
been debugged and tested so that points to the Flash Server and
whatever settings have to be made and/or code added to what file?
Could someone please point me in the right direction, Thank

Hi, but doesn't the linux version work on a mac?
    I'm a bit confused here.
I currently shoot video on a Canon mini dv camera and edit in Apple imovie.
Convert to Apple Quicktime and then import into Flash 8 video encoder.
I ftp the clips upto a flash server, from my mac and upload the playlist to my website host
    using Flash 8.
Don't tell me i've now got to get one of those dreadful PC thingies to complete the loop,
surely Adobe didn't invent this wonderful piece of software so it could run from a PC?
    Or did they?

  • Turning router into Media Server

Hi All, I am not experienced at all when it comes to networking. I just swtiched ISP's today and got a very good wireless router as part of the service, another Cisco it works with cable internet. My problem is that it doesn't have a media server like the EA4500 does (which I was using previously with ADSL) is there a way to get the EA4500 to just act as a media server on the same network as everything else? Would appreciate any help.

  • How to create and back up a media server?

I have a ton of photos and videos that I would like to share among several Mac's and PC's in my house over a wireless network. I would like to create a wireless shared media server which will run day and night without having to keep any computers on. At the same time, I would like to back up this media store on a regular basis. I would also like to sync some of the content to my Apple TV.
The solution I've come up with (at least theoretically) is to connect an external 500 GB drive to an Airport Extreme Base Station and use it as an Airport disk. I will dump all of my media files onto it. The problem is, how do I back this up?
Well, I have pre-purchased the 1 TB Time Capsule. What I'm hoping is possible, is for me to be able to have my MacBook Pro access my Airport disk, and back it up through Time Machine to my Time Capsule, wirelessly. Will this be possible?
I have found hundreds of messages about people trying to use Time Machine to back up data TO an Airport disk, but not FROM an Airport disk - so I want to know if this is possible?
Next, I need to sync my media Airport disk to my Apple TV. I assume I can just use my MacBook Pro to mount the Airport disk and use it as the source for syncing to my Apple TV?
Now, you may ask why I don't just get the Time Capsule and place all my media files onto it, in addition to using it for backup. Well, if the drive crashes, I will not only lose my backups, I will also lose all my original media files. Unless it is possible to back up the Time Capsule itself to an external drive for extra safety?
Sorry if this is confusing, but my basic questions are:
    1. Is it possible to back up an Airport disk using Time Machine?
    2. Is it possible to back up a Time Capsule to an external drive?
    3. Is it possible to sync a shared drive (Airport disk or Time Capsule) to an Apple TV?
    4. Can I run two wireless base stations (an Airport Extreme and Time Capsule) in my house?
    Thanks in advance.

It is possible to create a media server, backup its contents, etc. but probably not the ways you are considering. There's hurdles to setting up anything of the nature you're considering.
First my responses to your questions followed by how I did it.
    1. Is it possible to back up an Airport disk using Time Machine? No
    2. Is it possible to back up a Time Capsule to an external drive? If I understand this question, you are asking if there is a backup for the backup. I doubt it based on #1.
    3. Is it possible to sync a shared drive (Airport disk or Time Capsule) to an Apple TV? Only if the airdisk is mounted on the Mac to which you use to sync the Apple TV.
    4. Can I run two wireless base stations (an Airport Extreme and Time Capsule) in my house? Yes, but your bandwidth will be reduced if both are operating at the same time, particularly if one is configured as a bridge. With some special configuring of both devices you may be able to not use the wireless of one unit if it is connected via the ethernet ports. I have not tried this.
I have over 500 GB of video, 16 GB of audio, and about 4000 photos. I've solved this media center desire as follows:
    1. MacMini with 2 external hard drives, 1 contains the media and the other is the backup drive used by TM.
    2. Front Row is used on the MacMini and the Mini is attached to a large screen TV
    3. Other Macs in the house mount the media and backup drives from the Mini
    4. All of the Mac's iTunes are configured so they only store references to the files on the mounted media drive. Each time files are added to the media drive I simply drag the files from the media drive to the iTunes Library. This eliminates the 'sharing' of the iTunes library and allows each person to create their own Playlists. iPhoto is configured similarly to iTunes and new files are dragged to its Library.
    5. All the Macs are set to use TM on the backup drive attached to the Mini. The Mini's attached media drive is backed up via TM to the backup drive (again, both are attached to the mini).
I've tried the airport disk path previously and I found that it was necessary to occasionally remove the external disk and connect to a Mac to repair it in some fashion. I have not tried the new airdisk product itself -- just the original airport and an attached ext drive.
BTW, 2 of 4 of my Macs are laptops and none of them have any problem backing up to the Mini's backup drive via TM. I do, however, keep my video editing directories out of the laptop's TM backups; otherwise backups would take many hours as opposed to the typical 1-2 minutes.
Sorry I have not answered this in the way perhaps that you hoped but I have found my configuration to be very stable. The use of an airdisk as you described is the ultimate but I don't think all the tools are there to go all the way.
If you're interested in more detail, please ask.

  • Move iTunes collection to media server?

My iTunes mp3's are currently on my notebook but I would like to move them to an attached network media server (http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?DriveID=586) that has the ability to stream music so I can play them in my home using other devices. Can someone tell me the best way to move my files to an external hard drive and not lose all playlists, ratings, etc when I play them or sync using iTunes? Obviously right now the files in iTunes all point to my local hard drive but I would like to move them and not rebuild everything.
    Thank you.
    Sally

the best way i have found to do this is actually make 2 copies of your music folder on the external harddrive. keep 1 for itunes and 1 for other sources. i then changed my computers defalt music player to windows media player. i then re-loaded 1 of the files into the computer into media player and it tagged the music. i then saved this file from media player to the harddrive. this worked with the cd's ive downloaded and some of the music purchased from itunes, but i cannot be certain all itunes songs converted over, my database is 18,735 songs so this took 3 computers since i didnt have enough space on any 1 computer for such a large job. with album artwork it was like 198GB or so, just the music alone is 97.8 GB. then you can delete 1 of the 2 origional files off your ex harddrive. this way music can go on any mp3 player, ipod touch and flash drives for cars and boats home computer to computer or sharing.
THE ONLY THING I HAVENT FIGURED OUT YET IS THE ALBUM COVERS HAVING A PROBLEM KEEPING THEM ON THE HARDDRIVE IN A SEPERATE FILE.

  • WRT160NL DLNA Media Server Unstable (Twonky Media)

I have an NTFS formatted USB disk drive (Western Digital My Passport Essential Black 320 GB WDBAAA3200ABK) attached to the WRT160NL wireless router (Firmware Version 1.0.02), and I have video, picture and music files on the USB disk drive in three folders: Videos, Music, Pictures. Auto-scan is disabled, I scan the media files manually by clicking on the 'Scan All' button.
    PROBLEM 1
The worst problem is that the router is very sensitive to files that can't be recognized by the router as media files. For example if there are subtitle files (*.str) between the media files, then strange and nondeterministic things happen: some valid media files are skipped and not included in the media database; some files included but the file names are mixed. The most irritating in the bug is that there is no log file, where you could find the problem, and so you never know which file cause the problem, and you have to browse through all the files hunting for the cause.
    PROBLEM 2
When the router is in the process of scanning the media files, then the internet (WAN) connection often can't be used, although the router can be accessed and the status says it is connected to the internet.

WRT610N maybe have the samme problem, Media Server USB HDD
Ex, if you edit a playlist *.M3U and do a manuell SCANNING it will recogized the different (because the date is diff ?) If you edit again and make a second scanning (samme date) the playlist dissapear and IS GONE until you reconnect the Hdd or renamme the playlist.
EX2 : A file named   13 - Ricky Martin - Livin La Vida.mp3 and you renamme it  12 - Ricky Martin - Livin La Vida.mp3 the file  is gone from Media Server !
Normal use, you add a file , NO problem but it seams getting confused when you edit/renamme/move files.
I solve it like this EVERY TIME -
    Disabled Media Server
    Rename media folder
    Enabled Media Server
    Scan the renamed folder
    It works   !
