Please help. ssh seg faults
Hi,
SSH is seg faulting ever since I upgraded to 10.4.8. If I force version 1 it is ok, but that's not a solution. Also, Keychain Access.app is seg faulting.
Please, if you can, help me figure this out.
Thanks,
Gabe
I'm having the same issue, but can add some additional details.
The ssh binary crashes with the message "segmentation fault" when I attemtp to connect to a machine running a different ssh implementation, but connects without problems when I connect to another Mac.
Here's the output of
ssh -v -v <solaris machine>

PLEASE HELP - Service provider fault - how to get...
We are at breaking point!!!!
My lovely 81 year old Dad has tried to switch to BT infinity. He had a regular BT service before, but as of the 30th April he was meant to have BT infinity. HOWEVER, this is not the case. I spent last weekend there to try to help, but after BT sending out a new Hub, there still is no connection. I spent near 4 hours on the phone to India where (very frustratingly) they went through the same tests each time, despite me telling them that they had already been done, and no one could fix the issue. It seems the hub is working but the 'service provider' is not. We can get through the first two set up stages but never get past the 3rd. We get a BT Wholesale page suggetion there are 5 different service provider problems. Poor Dad has tried again today to ask an engineer to come out and still they insist on doing the same tests and insist there is something wrong with the 'device' (computer). There clearly isn't as we have tried several other devices and none of them can connect, so what else could the problem be? I think it's an engineer problem but how the hell do you get an engineer out, there is no UK number to call. Has anyone else had this problem? If so did you manage to solve it and how?
It's enough to send you round the twist or leave BT!
Thanks in anticipation.Thank you for your reply Neil, if we had known about the forum earlier we may have got further quicker.
Apparently the phone line is now down and the earliest we can expect an engineer is next Wednesday.
I have to say the customer service has been unbelievably atrocious. To think that they have had a problem for almost a fortnight and it has taken my Dad, my brother and myself 10 calls all lasting at least one hour, to be asked the same questions and to get absolutely nowhere. My Dad is hard of hearing but I found it difficult to understand the customer support rep and he found it difficult to understand me. I have no problem with Indian call centres but this was ridiculous. My elderly parents live in a small town 120miles from me and although they can live without broadband a phone line is pretty essential part of modern life. Yes, they have a mobile phone but they have paid for a service and they are simply not getting one. Trying to tell BT and get someone to do something about it has been enough to want to cancel altogether. It's such a shame BT has got such a terrible reputation for this, surely they can provide a better service than this? No doubt there won't be any compensation for the time we all have wasted trying to resolve this - how can you compensate for 10 hours of pure frustration?
If you wish to help you could raise this with your managers as an example of how to avoid this happening to someone else. -
JDBC causing page fault, please help
Author: union2000
Jul 8, 2001 6:48 PM
Hi can someone please help.
I am building an database application in Sun Java with JDK 1.2.2 (set up on a
partitioned 16GB drive on the 'C:\' drive partition) as a front end to an Oracle 8i
'starter database' successfully set up and used on Windows 98 (set up on the 'E:\'
drive partition). Both partitions are compatible with each other, both using the same
Windows 98 instance. I am attempting to make a connection to the database using
the usual code:
// You need to import the java.sql package to use JDBC
import java.sql.*;
class connectExample
public static void main (String args [])
throws SQLException
// Load the Oracle JDBC driver
DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
// Connect to the database
// You can put a database name after the @ sign in the connection URL.
Connection conn =
DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:oracle:oci8:@", "scott", "tiger");
// Close the connecion
conn.close();
Now, the connection seems to be made, the windows messages flash up as does
the database icon and the database is initialised and mounted successfully.
However, RIGHT AFTER THAT.... a Windows message tells me there is a page fault
and prompts me to shut down the Java program / VM. I get the following:
JAVA caused an invalid page fault in
module JAVAI.DLL at 017f:6ee37f3a.

Apache - Weblogic plug-in - Segmentation fault. Please Help me!
Hi all,
Im trying to set up Apache weblogic plug-in, and im having problems with
that.
Im running Solaris 9 with Apache/1.3.26 (Unix) and Weblogic 7 with sp2.
Here is what i did:
I copied mod_wl_ssl.so from
/bea/weblogic700/server/lib/solaris/mod_wl_ssl.so to /usr/apache/libexec
Added entries in httpd.conf as
LoadModule weblogic_module /usr/apache/libexec/mod_wl_ssl.so
AddModule mod_weblogic.c
<LocationMatch "\.jsp$">
SetHandler weblogic-handler
StatPath false
</LocationMatch>
<LocationMatch "/(service1|service2|service3)/">
SetHandler weblogic-handler
StatPath false
</LocationMatch>
<IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
WebLogicHost 127.0.0.1
WebLogicPort 7001
HungServerRecoverSecs 300
ConnectTimeoutSecs 5
</IfModule>
When i access the url with out specifying port 7001 it's not working.
I checked the /var/apache/logs/error_log file. Im getting the error as
child pid 805 exit signal Segmentation Fault (11)
Am i missing anything here?
Thank you
RajaYou may want to check the certifications for Solaris 9 and the Apache plug-in at
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/certifications/certifications/sun_solaris9.html#40366.
It looks like you will have to upgrade to at least Apache 2.0.39. We had to do
this on Solaris 8 as well.

Thank you Eric,
I will do that

I believe this is going to require more debugging such as attachinga
debugger(gdb) to Apache and getting a backtrace.
I suggest opening up a support case.

Hi Eric,
Thank you for the replies.
I tried with the same test as you specified. Still im getting the
same
problem.
[Mon Mar 10 13:57:21 2003] [notice] child pid 1184 exit signal
Segmentation Fault (11)
Im running Solaris 9 in SPARC platform. It's a Sun E450 server.
Im using the default apache package which comes with Solaris 9. Ididn't
do
anything with apache.
Bea website says that Weblogic 7 sp2 is certified for Soalris 9.
That's
y
i
installed Solaris 9.
I tested the same on a Linux Machine (Redhat Linux 7.1 on IA). It
works
fine
without any problem.
How can i make things work?
Thank you for your kind replies

Looks like it should work.
Let's simplify your test:
<Location /test>
WebLogicHost 127.0.0.1
WebLogicPort 7001
Debug ALL
DebugConfigInfo ON
SetHandler weblogic-handler
</Location>
Try with just that.
Another thing is that I am unsure as to whether we have tested
with
Solaris
9. This is SPARC right? Also, can you outline the steps you took
when
building apache? Did you use GCC?
Thanks,
Eric

Hi,
Now i changed to mod_wl_ssl.so.
And i changed the httpd.conf as
LoadModule weblogic_module libexec/mod_wl_ssl.so
<IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
WebLogicHost 127.0.0.1
WebLogicPort 7001
Debug ALL
DebugConfigInfo ON
StatPath true
HungServerRecoverSecs 300
ConnectTimeoutSecs 5
</IfModule>
But im getting the same error. NO wlproxy.log file is created
in my
server.
I tried Debug ON also. Still the same.
Am i doing anything wrong?
Please help me...
Thank you

That means that your apache instance is compiled with -DEAPI
and
should
use
the mod_wl_ssl.so.
Can you please try to set Debug ALL and get the log in
/tmp/wlproxy.log
and
share that?
Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric,
When im using mod_wl.so im getting warning from Apache as
[Mon Mar 10 12:41:15 2003] [warn] Loaded DSO
libexec/mod_wl.so
uses
plain Apache 1.3 API, this module might crash under
EAPI!
(please
recompile it with -DEAPI)
Thank you
Raja
"Eric Gross" <[email protected]> wrote in message

Are you using modssl or any apache with EAPI compiled in?
Otherwise, you should be using the mod_wl.so.
As well, please set Debug ALL to see if we can get more
debug.
Thanks,

Segmentation Fault(coredump) ...please help me
I have an application running under C / Pro C in Solaris and I have a program, it insertes rows automatically into a database (oracle) and generes a file in /tmp whith the information inserted, but whit some users the program sends an error message "Segmentation Fault(coredump)". what is the reason for this error messages...?
the reason is user privileges or other reason?The problem could be a bug in your code or in our compiler. You will need to get a stack trace under dbx to see what caused the SEG-FAULT.

FreeRADIUS rlm_krb5 seg fault
I'm having a few problems setting up freeRadius with a kerberos backend on arch and would really appreciate a little help.
Kernal: Linux 3.11.6-1-ARCH i686
freeradius 3.0.0-1
All the configuration changes I have made to the default configs are listed below:
/etc/raddb/users
Added the following line at the top of the file:
DEFAULT Auth-Type = Kerberos
/etc/raddb/sites-enabled/default and /etc/raddb/sites-enabled/inner-tunnel
Added the following in the Authenticate section directly after the pap entry
Auth-Type Kerberos {
krb5
I have also copied the file /etc/raddb/mods-available/krb5 to /etc/raddb/mods-enabled/krb5 and edited the entries to point to the keytab and principle im using for radius. The keytab contains two entries one for radius/hostname.domain and one for host/hostname.domain.
I have verified the keytab is ok by using it with kinit to get a valid ticket for both principles. Additionally im sure my kerberos setup is ok as it works fine with ldap, nslcd and ssh.
The problem is when I run radiusd -X and then attempt a radtest I get the following:
(0) files : users: Matched entry DEFAULT at line 1
(0) [files] = ok
(0) [expiration] = noop
(0) [logintime] = noop
(0) WARNING: pap: No “known good” password found for the user. Not setting Auth-Type.
(0) WARNING: pap: Authentication will fail unless a “known good” password is available.
(0) [pap] = noop
(0) } # authorize = ok
(0) Found Auth-Type = Kerberos
(0) # Executing group from file /etc/raddb/sites-enabled/default
(0) Auth-Type Kerberos {
at which point the server dies with no further output. Running the server using systemctl start freeradius and then looking at the status after its died shows its failed with Main PID: 21835 (code=dumped, signal=SEGV)
I have looked all over the internet but the only place I have found someone with the same problem is here:
http://www.mail-archive.com/freeradius- … 77744.html
I have also enabled core dumps in the radiusd.conf however I have no idea how to actually view the dump or where it is (and yes I did google it, but all the responses made no sence to me)
I have also tried the freeradius-git package on the AUR however that throws errors when building, something to do with undefined symbols while making radattr.
CC src/main/radattr.c
LINK build/bin/radattr
UNIT-TEST rfc.txt
./build/bin/radattr: symbol lookup error: ./build/bin/radattr: undefined symbol: _fr_cursor_init

I don't usually post here as every problem i've had using arch so far, I've solved after reading the wiki/forums or random googling. However i'm at a complete loss this time, i have literally no idea how to solve this...
ThanksJust as a quick update, the rlm_krb module still seems to be causing seg faults, however it is possible to get it working by configuring freeRadius to use PAM and then telling PAM to authenticate with kerberos.

Seg Fault & Sigbus - opera, thunderbird (and more)
Hi!
A week ago I`ve made an pacman -Syu and after that I have some problems...
Running opera, skype gives seg fault.
Thunderbird something like this:

What to do?
What do you need to tell anything?

ps. Firefox is working - better than ever... But I want my mail!!! :)
ps2. Couple of months ago I made memtest and everything was fine.Thank you, I did notice that switching would not work with the rootles Xorg 1.16 , that was the reason I just did a clean install with 1.15, I believe that one does require root at all times. But I might be wrong.
To be honest, I have don't have much hope that anyone can help solve this. I've been using linux for about 18 years now and this is the first time I have encountered something that I just can't fix. I don't even know where to go from here, now that I tried without GLX. Going to look into that man-page anyway, just to be sure. Since it is a proces of elimination for me now anyhow. Darn you Diablo! You make me want to switch graphics

Hi there, I am trying to connect to my server at work from home using a vpn connection. It connects fine and the time ticks along, but when i click go - connect to server, it comes up with connection failed. Please help!
... when i click go - connect to server, it comes up with connection failed.
If you're trying to connect to a Bonjour server on the remote network, that won't work over a layer 3 VPN. Use something like Hamachi or one of the SSH-tunnelling Bonjour proxy apps for that. -

</device>Hello,
I'm facing exactly the same problem, that is:
a Cisco SIP Phone 9971 won't register on CME 8.6 running on a 2811
I have read all the postings to this Forum, but I have not been able to solve it.
In my case the commands voice register dn and voice register pool are OK.
So frankly, I have no idea what I could be missing.
I'm pasting the Router's config.
I hope somebody is able to point me in the right direction.
Here is the config. Thank you!

You might want to take a look at the docs: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10500_01/server.920/a96533/statspac.htm#21708
Note:
It is not correct to specify begin and end snapshots where the begin snapshot and end snapshot were taken from different instance startups. In other words, the instance must not have been shutdown between the times that the begin and end snapshots were taken.
At the first part of the report the database id is given. Do a select * from STATS$DATABASE_INSTANCE and verify that the DBID present matches the database/instance you are attempting to run the reprot upon. The report should be ran from the same instance in which the snapshots were taken. -
I have frequent instances of my Macbook Pro beeping 3 times and then I have to forcefully shut it down by pressing the power button. What is this all about? Please help. Thank you.

There are a couple of things that you can do yourself before taking your machine into an Apple Store or an AASP... download and run an application named Rember that will run a RAM test for you - let it run for a couple of hours or even overnight. If it turns out that your RAM is faulty, Rember will let you know. If it is faulty, then you have a couple of options - replace the RAM yourself or (particularly if you're under warranty still) take the machine to an Apple Store or AASP and have them replace the RAM.
If Rember finds no fault with the RAM, then you'll need to take it into an Apple Store/AASP and get a free diagnosis on the machine. Three beeps do usually indicate faulty RAM, but if it tests good with Rember you likely have another problem - it could be something as simple as the RAM, somehow, not seated correctly or signs of another hardware problem.
Run Rember first... call back with results.
Good luck,
Clinton -
Cannot log into AD on Mountain Lion. Please help! I got the logs
My company has been experiencing this problem ever since Mountain Lion released.
The problem is, we cannot log into AD on all of our MAC who currently runs Mountain Lion. We, however, can log into AD fine with Lion and Snow Leopard just fine. We only use AD, we don't use Open Directory or have any Apple server.
I have gather some logs using the SSH. Please help me view the logs and let me know what's going on if possible.
Here are the steps that I performed before capture these logs.
I format the hard drive and installed a new OS X 10.8.2 on the hard drive using the Recovery Mode (Hold down option Key while boot).
I created a new computer name call ittest-mac3 in AD and assigned to proper OU. I changed the computer name under System Preferences ==> Sharing to "ittest-mac3".
3. I bind this Macbook Pro to our Active Directory via xyz.com. The bind was successful. I enabled "Create mobile account at login", "Required confirmation before creating a mobile account", " Force local home directory on start up disk", " Use UNC path from active directory to derive network home location", "Default user shell: /bin/bash/. Network protocol to be used: smb:
After I reboot the Mac client, I was unable to log into it using our regular AD user account (consider all of our employees has regular account).
I created 2 test accounts for Mac on Active Directory, they are "mac test" and "mac test 2".
With "mac test" account, I configured everything the same as our regular account in AD. Which I was not able to log into the Mac client using this account.
With “mac test 2” account, I configured everything the same as our regular account in AD EXCEPT for UNIX Attributes. I was successfully logged into the Mac client using this user account.
So the problem is ... set the Unix Attributes for NIS domain on the AD account prevent everyone of us in our company to log into AD on any client that have Mountain Lion OSX installed.
Here are the logs:
Log1. This logs showed successful when log into AD on a Mountain Lion OSX using an AD account that don't have UNIX attributes setting configure.

We only have 1 single domain, 1 domain forest, no subdomains, only alias. I had replied to the other post as well. But I am happy to paste it here in case anyone want to read it.
So, after a few months of testing, capture and sending logs back and forth to Apple Engineers, we found out there is a setting in AD, under User Account that prevent us to log into AD from Mountain Lion. If you would go to your AD server, open up a user account properties, then go to Account tab, the "Do not require Kerberos preauthentication" option is checked. As soon as I uncheck that option, immediately I was able to log into AD on the Mac client. Apple engineers copied all my AD settings and setup a test environment on their end and match exact mine AD environment. They was able to reproduce this issue.
The bad part about this is... our environment required the "Do not require Kerberos preauthentication" is checked in AD, in order for our users to login into some of our Unix and Linux services. Which mean that it is impossible for us to remove that check mark because most, if not all of them some way or another require to login into applications that run on Unix and Linux. Apple is working to see if they can come up with a fix. Apparently, no one has report this issue except us. I believe most of you out there don't have that check mark checked in your environment... Anyone out there have any suggestion to by pass or have a work around for this? -
Please Help! 3-Weeks Since Installation and Still ...
It's just over 3 weeks since I had my broadband moved to my new address and I'm still getting a shockingly-bad connection. All the way through my 10-day stabilisation period it was really poor (always well below 100kbps down) but I waited the full 10 days before calling India when they told me to wait another 3 days. After that extra 3 days I called again and they ran a line test and identified an issue which they described as a 'configuration mismatch which happens every 1 in a 100' - I couldn't understand his exact explanation for the issue was but he told me it had to be corrected at the exchange and to give it 48-72 hours for it to be fixed. After waiting three days and seeing zero change, I called back was told that it had been fixed but I had to wait another 48-72 hours for it to stabilize. So I waited 3 more days. saw no change and called again... this time another guy did another line test and ran through the usual questions, he identified some issue with the line (the same issue?) and said he had reported it the team that deal with line faults. I was told I'd get a call within a few days and that someone would either fix the problem or an engineer would visit. I did get a call back... the call came from India so I'm not sure if that was _the_ call or if it was just a follow-up to one of the earlier support calls (I was expecting call from UK?). Whatever it was, the lady said that the issue had been corrected at the exchange and that I should see a big impovement over the next 48-72 hours. I'm just about at the end of that period now and I'm again seeing no difference whatsoever. I'm dreading the prospect of another support call which results in another non-existant fix which takes another 48-72 hours and makes no difference.
I dont know if anyone can help and if so what info you'd need?
Here's some basic info about my setup, the results of my speedtest and some info from the homehub etc...
I'm on the Unlimited Option 3 (or at least I should be).
My homehub is the v1, i.e. white box with the 5 lights (phone, wireless, broadband, internet, data).
Wireless is now disabled on the homehub and I'm using the ethernet cable to my PC.
I've tried all the phone sockets in the flat and get the same result from all of them.
I've tried the connetion on my desktop, laptop and even via the wireless on my mobile, it's the same on all three.
Samknows puts me about 1.6 miles from my local exchange at Moortown (MYMOO)
I've tried the noise test on my line using the number I found on this forum, didn't hear anything at all.
I've tried disconnecting my Sky box from the telephone (which is in a different room) but still no joy.
The homehub has been up for the most part - I've only restarted it three times, twice at the instruction of the guys at BT support and once myself.

BT Speedtest Results...
I was hoping to just upload a screenshot but thats impossible for me, so I'll have to type the results instead:
"The test comprises of Best Effort Test:
Download Speed 106 Kbps
Download speed acheived during this test was - 106 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps
Additional information
Your DSL Connection Rate: 4148 Kbps (DOWN-STREAM), 768 Kbps (UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 3000Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 3.77:5.66:90.57 (SBE:NBEBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic
This test was not conclusive and further testing is required. This might be useful for your ISP to investigate the fault."
And Finally, SpeedTest.net...
As the subject says, "Please Help!"Hi JoeFoulkes
Certainly looks like something’s up here, your downstream speed doesn’t seem to be too bad but throughput speed is really letting you down. I take it this is at all time of the day?
Not too sure what has been tried by our tech guys so far but if you drop me an email with a few details then I can have a look and get things moving.
Could you drop me an email to [email protected] with your BT account and telephone number and I'll sort it out.
Cheers
Craig

Macbook Pro Problems. Please help!
My computer has recently been experiencing some problems. Less than a month ago I had about 5 kernel panics. Suddenly, they went away, but other problems have arose. Finder keeps on relaunching and nearly every program unexpectedly quits. I have no clue why this is happening, please help. I am using a Macbook Pro, 15" screen, 2.33 Ghz, 2 GB RAM.
