Plotting pump flow against RPM using xy graph

I want to plot the output flow from a pump versus the shaft rpm. How to achieve continuous plotting using a XY graph ?
I read through the posts here and in one of that a refernce was made to the Variable-Timechart.vi example as a possible solution for this scenario. Is that the only one way out ?
As an added information I am using a M- Series card that supports only the NiDAQmx drivers.
Some tips to tide over the problem would be helpful.

You could use waveform charts but they have to have a constant delta t for the time axis so Variable Time Chart XY.vi seems to be a better option.

You must have 2 data arrays or plots to get this. Make sure your plot legend is visible. Drag the plot legend vertical borders to view both plots. Select one of the plot to be bar plot (See the attachment)

Plotting Current Value Against Normative Limits

My application requires me to plot current values against time whilst showing what is normal for the identical time-of-day and day-of-week. I've got a floating column chart where each column represents a bounded set of normative values. The columns appear with a linear graph to indicate today's value over time. You can view that at

Well, you are using the Dynamic Data Type, which I almost never use, but if you convert the data to a WaveForm (using From DDT on the Signal Manipulation Palette, which is a choice when you right-click on the DDT Wire), you should be able to do this. Do you know about how Waveforms are stored? They are a Cluster, with t0 being a TimeStamp for the start of the Waveform, dt being the time step, and Y being the samples. So if you want a point at 0.5 seconds and dt is 0.001, you would pull out the point at Index 499 (offset 0) from the Y array.

hi.. how i can use scatter graph type in oracle 10g using bi beans..
it seems scatter graph is supported in 10g but it doesnt work at all..
i used to use oracle graphics builder in oracle 6i forms,now i need to convert all my old graphs to 10g forms..the line,bar and pie it work very well but the scatter didnt work..
so please if anyone know how to use it please tell me.. and what versions of bi beans support the scatter graph type

What version of Oracle Forms are you using? If it is 10.1.2.0.2 (10g R2 Phase 2) then the BI Beans version should be 10.1.2.1 (3.2.2.0.24.2).
When you run a Graph, do you see any version numbers?
Regardless of the version, scatter graph should work. What kind of errors are you getting?
When you install BI Beans in JDeveloper, you get access to BI Beans Help. Go to the following topic for setting up data for a scatter graph:

The recommended settings for encoders are using the counters in the daq cards. Using digital I/O’s is not recommended, the encoders send digital signals but one of the main differences between using digital IO vs counters is that counters are designed to handle these type of events.
Here I found several examples in ni.com/code that you might check:

An Elvis is a daq device, so this should work for you.
I also found an example for myDAQ, it uses the DIO but with a counter task in the set up.

You probably aren't going to find anyone to just give you code. Especially because you don't specify the hardware you're using. Doing this on FPGA is different than using DAQmx to do it. With FPGA you count pulses over a specified time. Using boolean logic from the digital DI node is a common way but there are others. (if you are using FPGA I can draw up an example, but I believe there is one on NIs website if you search google for it),. Then, if you want, you can run the data through an IIR filter, especially if you have a low resolution or slow moving encoder. Either of these conditions can result in very large difference of RPM even if the actual speed is not varying much (if you need an example why I can provide more detail, but some simple math calculating RPM should explain this. Obviously lower resolution will giv eyou less accurate results).
If you use DAQmx you can set up a frequency task and it will return the number of pulses in a specified time frame; then you can convert this to RPM based on your encoder resolution and take the same steps of running it through a filter to smooth it out if need be.

as far as I know, for Forms on the Web there isn't yet a way to do this. In the upcoming release Oracle 10G Forms (9.0.4) and Oracle Application Server 10G OID can be used to authenticate against Windows domains. This way you could use SSO for what you want. I am saying this carefully because I didn't tried it but took it from the OID specs.

I can definitely how frustrating it must be to not be able to take pictures or even view pictures that have already been taken with your LG Dare.
Since this problem has started, have you tried to either:
a.) put that memory card in an alternate phone to see if the pictures can be viewed on there
b.) use a card reader/adapter in a computer to see if the pictures can be viewed on the computer
c.) take the memory card out of the phone and then try to take a picture?
What I am trying to determine is which of the 2 is defective (phone or memory card)
If you are able to view pictures in another phone, or on the computer , then you may have a bad card. If that is the case, you can transfer the pictures to the computer and then format the memory card by

You can use OJB (http://db.apache.org/ojb/). We are using OJB with Structs and work perfectly, you can check it or look for other equivalents.
Of course, you can program your own DAO pattern, but I recommend you try this software.

Additionally, if you set it to read a degree instead of pulse, your calculation will change a bit, but I'll leave that to you.

I want to install some missing RPM's on the machine on which i am planning to install 11gr2 standard edition using yum command. My linux machine has the internet connection.
If i want to downlaod and install the package(gcc-4.1.2-42.el5.x86_64.rpm) using you then what syntax i have to use in order to install that package.

Using XY Graph to plot current and voltage

Hi,
I'm making an I-V curve tracer, and am hoping to plot current and voltage measurements I'm acquiring onto an XY Graph in realtime. I'm using Labview 2010 on Windows Vista, with the VISA drivers installed; my acquisition hardware is an Arduino Uno communicating over USB to serial via VISA drivers.
My data is coming in over the serial port formatted like "voltage,current":

I've read through the relevant documentation for the graph builder, the 4 samples included with LabView, and quite a few posts on this forum. I modified Jazlan's sample VI to read the current and voltage, and display the values on the front panel - it works just fine. However, when I wire those values to an Express XY Graph builder (and set the 'clear data on each call' property to false) and run the software, it just sort of freezes... I try to stop it, but it keeps running for about 10-20 seconds. The current/voltage values are not updated, nor is anything displayed in the XY graph.
Am I not sending the correct input to the graph builder?
Should I just wire up my values directly to the XY graph by concatenating values to an array, and then clustering it?
Also, on the right border of my case structure, one of the orange squares is not solid - how do I fix that?

I wired up the stop button to the VISA close block, and now I'm able to run and stop it multiple times without freezing.
1) I know how to add shift registers, but why do I need one? It doesn't seem like I need to pass values from one iteration of the while loop to another...

Automatically labeling plot legend using XY Graphs?

I want to plot:
Time Amp
1 2
2 4
3 9
How do I get the legend to automatically say Amp, instead of Plot 0? I went to property node -> legend and I don't see any option
that would read the "column" header and label the legend accordingly.
In my example, the X array (Time) and Y array (Amp) are fed into Bundle which is then fed to the XY Graph input. The X array (1,2,3) and Y array (2,4,9)
obviously carry no information about their respective column names (Time, Amp). So, the legend must read this information separately, but I don't know
how to feed this information to the plot legend.

You simply need a property node for "plot.name". You have only one plot, so the following is sufficient (of course you would replace the string diagram constant with whatever you read from the column header in the file)
(If you have several plots, you would do it in a loop, setting the active plot from the iteration terminal, first, then writing the name)
Since this is an xy graph, I would actually hide the legend and simply label the two axes according to their header. This can be done in a similar way with property nodes. See if you can figure it out.
(Of course if the labels never change, enter them once manually and they will be saved with the VI. No code needed.)
