Pls Suggest me to improve the perfomace of the following query
problem :
I have a table say cusotmer that contain hierarchy relation
customer_id parent_id
1 2
2 3
3
if i input customer_id =1 then i should get all the hierarchy like
2,3,
solution i have taken is
select /*+ parallel (a,8) */ parent_id from cusotmer a
start with select customer_id in ( select child_id from leaf)
connect by prior parent_id=customer_id
The leaf contains 6.5 million entries and customer contains 75 million entries ..
currently above query is taking 2 hrs to exceute .
can some one suggest ways to improve the perfomance..

Have you tried removing the parallel hint and executing the query? Sometimes forcing a parallel hint can degrade performance.

my case is that ...i need to delete 50K records out of 99 million table order table

This is taking aroung 30 mins for deleteion.
can any one optimize the query

Iam uploading the data from a local file to update the sales order by changing the partner function
and iam using 'BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE' for updating and it is taking much time to update the
sales order can any one suggest how to improve the performance to update salesorder with new partner function ?

The result could be --> The update (maybe make only one commit at the end, instead of one commit by BAPI call).
A selection --> Maybe change the selection to use an index. -

This transaction gives all the analysis of an ABAP program with respect to the database and the non-database processing.

by using this tool we can analyse the perfomance issues related to DATABASE calls.
Perfomance Techniques for improve the perfomance of the object.
1) ABAP/4 programs can take a very long time to execute, and can make other processes have to wait before executing. Here are some tips to speed up your programs and reduce the load your programs put on the system:
2) Use the GET RUN TIME command to help evaluate performance. It's hard to know whether that optimization technique REALLY helps unless you test it out.
3) Using this tool can help you know what is effective, under what kinds of conditions. The GET RUN TIME has problems under multiple CPUs, so you should use it to test small pieces of your program, rather than the whole program.
4) Generally, try to reduce I/O first, then memory, then CPU activity. I/O operations that read/write to hard disk are always the most expensive operations. Memory, if not controlled, may have to be written to swap space on the hard disk, which therefore increases your I/O read/writes to disk. CPU activity can be reduced by careful program design, and by using commands such as SUM (SQL) and COLLECT (ABAP/4).
5) Avoid 'SELECT *', especially in tables that have a lot of fields. Use SELECT A B C INTO instead, so that fields are only read if they are used. This can make a very big difference.
6) Field-groups can be useful for multi-level sorting and displaying. However, they write their data to the system's paging space, rather than to memory (internal tables use memory). For this reason, field-groups are only appropriate for processing large lists (e.g. over 50,000 records). If you have large lists, you should work with the systems administrator to decide the maximum amount of RAM your program should use, and from that, calculate how much space your lists will use. Then you can decide whether to write the data to memory or swap space.
Use as many table keys as possible in the WHERE part of your select statements.
7)Whenever possible, design the program to access a relatively constant number of records (for instance, if you only access the transactions for one month, then there probably will be a reasonable range, like 1200-1800, for the number of transactions inputted within that month). Then use a SELECT A B C INTO TABLE ITAB statement.
8) Get a good idea of how many records you will be accessing. Log into your productive system, and use SE80 -> Dictionary Objects (press Edit), enter the table name you want to see, and press Display. Go To Utilities -> Table Contents to query the table contents and see the number of records. This is extremely useful in optimizing a program's memory allocation.
9) Try to make the user interface such that the program gradually unfolds more information to the user, rather than giving a huge list of information all at once to the user.
10) Declare your internal tables using OCCURS NUM_RECS, where NUM_RECS is the number of records you expect to be accessing. If the number of records exceeds NUM_RECS, the data will be kept in swap space (not memory).
11) Use SELECT A B C INTO TABLE ITAB whenever possible. This will read all of the records into the itab in one operation, rather than repeated operations that result from a SELECT A B C INTO ITAB... ENDSELECT statement. Make sure that ITAB is declared with OCCURS NUM_RECS, where NUM_RECS is the number of records you expect to access.
12) If the number of records you are reading is constantly growing, you may be able to break it into chunks of relatively constant size. For instance, if you have to read all records from 1991 to present, you can break it into quarters, and read all records one quarter at a time. This will reduce I/O operations. Test extensively with GET RUN TIME when using this method.
13) Know how to use the 'collect' command. It can be very efficient.
14) Use the SELECT SINGLE command whenever possible.
15) Many tables contain totals fields (such as monthly expense totals). Use these avoid wasting resources by calculating a total that has already been calculated and stored.
Some tips:
1) Use joins where possible as redundant data is not fetched.
2) Use select single where ever possible.
3) Calling methods of a global class is faster than calling function modules.
4) Use constants instead of literals
5) Use WHILE instead of a DO-EXIT-ENDDO.
6) Unnecessary MOVEs should be avoided by using the explicit work area operations

How to improve the performance of the application

We have customized the standard SRM BSP application and integrated to portal.
Now it has got some performence issues. It is taking time to load the page and also while navigating between the views.
We have done the performence tuning for the application to the maximum extent. But the problem is while loading the application, its taking time.
Can anyone suggest how to improve the performence of the Application.

You are probalbly doing time-consuming operations in the event thread. Which blocks the event thread and the gui seems not to be responding. If you you have a very bad design.

Suggestions to improve the INSERT performance

I have a table which has 170 columns .
I am inserting huge data 50K and more records into this table.
my insert would be look like this.

Here i want to insert values for only few columns.Hence i specifies only those column names in insert statement.
But when huge data(50k+) returned by select query then this statement taking very long time to execute(approximately 10 to 15 mins).
Please suggest me to improve this insert statement performance.I am also using 'append' hint.
Thanks in advance.a - Disable/drop indexes and constraints - It's far faster to rebuild indexes after the data load, all at-once. Also indexes will rebuild cleaner, and with less I/O if they reside in a tablespace with a large block size.
b - Manage segment header contention for parallel inserts - Make sure to define multiple freelist (or freelist groups) to remove contention for the table header. Multiple freelists add additional segment header blocks, removing the bottleneck. You can also use Automatic Segment Space Managementhttp://www.dba-oracle.com/art_dbazine_ts_mgt.htm (bitmap freelists) to support parallel DML, but ASSM has some limitations
c - Parallelize the load - You can invoke parallel DML (i.e. using the PARALLEL and APPEND hint) to have multiple inserts into the same table. For this INSERT optimization, make sure to define multiple freelists and use the SQL "APPEND" option. If you submit parallel jobs to insert against the table at the same time, using the APPEND hint may cause serialization, removing the benefit of parallel jobstreams.
d - APPEND into tables - By using the APPEND hint, you ensure that Oracle always grabs "fresh" data blocks by raising the high-water-mark for the table. If you are doing parallel insert DML, the Append mode is the default and you don't need to specify an APPEND hint. Also, if you're going w/ APPEND, consider putting the table into NOLOGGING mode, which will allow Oracle to avoid almost all redo logging."

I have to improve the performence of the report . I am executing the report in foreground. First time it is giving after running 6 mins . If i execute again It is giving the output.
I am using innner join between EKKO and EKPO. When I see the report in debugging, this is the select talking long time to execute then it is giving dump.
what all the things i need to take care .

If you need AP's that can function as a bridge, and be associated to a controlle, you should go with the 1030. It can run as a bridge, to another 1030, or it can be a regular access point. -

I have some queries related to improving the performance of a scenario in my landscape.
Scenario : IDOC-SOAP (Synchronous with BPM)
The mapping is simple with 3 fld direct mapping.
Works grt with no problem in normal cases for one message transfer.
But initial load ( when we put it in new system, the scenario generates erros if we send more than 23 IDOCs at a time)
I have decided to perform the following to solve it.

As you can see, for the 1st minute, all the messages are waiting to be processed. After 60 seconds,
the packages will be created and processed. There is no change to the monitoring of each of the
individual messages in SXI_MONITOR.
....but if you make a sync scenario wait....then probably you may run into the risk of blocking the Queues.......
If this is going to be in production then i would have been more careful...becoz firstly it is BPM....then synchronous BPM.....then a processing wait......normally do not try to make the BPM processing wait...my small suggestion -

I am extracting the data from MM application for this i am using the LO 2lis_02_itm extractor and i had enhanced it with 32 field and its happering my data load performance.
Could u pls let me know, how can i improve the data load performance.
Do i need to create the different Generic Extractors instead of enhancing the LO.
The DSO is also having many fields in it. Should i split it into 2 and create the Multiprovider for reporting.

my suggestion would be to create another generic DS for the logcal set of fields to be required in BI.
then you can load then seperately to different DSOs and then to single IC or to two IC and use MP to report on them.

Dear Colleagues I have just both a new Airport Extrem. I have connectid it it everything works fine. (internet, apple tv, wireless) The flashlight always flashes green. Should the the light not be on constant green? Thanks for your help

I have a 3GS and I updated my IOS and now have my stuff quit working or just shuts down, my screen freezes when I open it. safari and the apps store will not open. I have reset my phone three times. Email is spotty. Why cant they just drop the I5?
