Plsql exceptions from Java?

If I have plsql like this:
blue exception;
red exception;
Is there some way that I can tell from
which java which of those exceptions has
been raised? (I am aware of raise_application_error).

  • Calling a PLSQL package from java

    Hi All
    I have a problem calling a package from java. I have to pass a Date to the package which is a String in java.
    How can I typecast it to the PLSQL Date from a java String.
    Here is my below code for reference. The below code does not works because of typecasting problem.I tried to_date() also in java, but it is not working.
    cstmt=connDbConn.prepareCall("{call pkage.PACK1(?)}"); cstmt.setString(1,"01-JAN-2009");

    keyanwb wrote:

    Thus you should consider exactly what storing the date only component means in terms of the timezone that the Oracle server is using.

  • Throwing exceptions from Java Stored Procs

    Hi,
    We'd like to be able to define our own exceptions from our Java Stored Procedures (i'm going to call them JSP's even thought that's not PC). I am aware that the manual says "When a Java stored procedure executes a SQL statement, any exception thrown is materialized to the procedure as a subclass of java.sql.SQLexception. That class has the methods getErrorCode() and getMessage(), which return the Oracle error code and message, respectively."
    Does this mean that we can't really extend the SQLException class and define our own set of methods for handling exceptions in JSP's? Is there a work around for handling exceptions in JSP's? Since exception handling is such a powerful component of Java, I figure someone has addressed the limitations of the above paragraph.
    Thanks,
    Kristi

    Unfortunately, right now GCC's standard C++ runtime library is NOT threadsafe. You can find documentation supporting this on the GCC website. Since you're running a multithreaded Java/JNI application, you'll certainly hit this shortcoming.
    <p>
    Supposedly, this will all be fixed in GCC 3.0.
    <p>
    In the meantime, if you're using SPARC, the only option you have is either using SC4.2 or Forte 6 Update 2 (this particular version is VERY important for several reasons).

  • Logging/reading exception from Java in c++

    Hi!
    Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this code?
    I try to call toString from c++ on an exception that occurs in Java.
    I want to find out which exception it is and send it to my logging system.
    The code fails on the call to CallObjectMethod. The application stops and exits?
    Both ex and getMessage_id is not NULL.
    I have tried to call m_env->ExceptionClear() from many different places. They are commented out in the code.
    I have tried both GetObjectClass and FindClass but there are no difference.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.
    jthrowable e = m_env->ExceptionOccurred();
    if (e) {
       m_env->ExceptionDescribe();
       //m_env->ExceptionClear();
       jclass ex = m_env->GetObjectClass(e);
       // I have tried to do this instead of the call over.
       //jclass ex = m_env->FindClass("java/lang/Throwable");
       if(ex == NULL){
          //does not enter this if test
          m_logfile->write("object call ex == NULL");
       //m_env->ExceptionClear();
       jmethodID getMessage_id = m_env->GetMethodID(ex, "toString", "()Ljava/lang/String;");
       if(getMessage_id == NULL){
          //does not enter this if test
          m_logfile->write("object call getMessage_id == NULL");
       //m_env->ExceptionClear();
       jstring errmsg = (jstring)m_env->CallObjectMethod(ex, getMessage_id);
    }Thanks,
    Jonas

    Hi!
    Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this code?Just a guess.
    jclass ex = m_env->GetObjectClass(e);This returns an instance of "Class".
    jstring errmsg =
    = (jstring)m_env->CallObjectMethod(ex,
    getMessage_id);
    This is passing in an instance of "Class" ('ex')
    right?
    Don't you want an instance of something like
    "Throwable"?
    You are right.
    The CallObjectMethod method takes a jobject and not a jclass as a parameter.
    The ex parameter should be replaced with the jthrowable object e.
    //the right code is
    jstring errmsg = (jstring)m_env->CallObjectMethod(e, getMessage_id);
    Thanks,
    Jonas

  • Security Exception from Java stand-alone program on Linux

    Hi All,
    I am getting the following exception while running a Java stand-alone program on Linux.
    The stand-alone program internally calls the JCE (Java Cryptography Extension) library for Encryption of data.
    Does anybody have the solution for this error?
    Is there any Security policy modification to be made for the same?

    No security modification is normally required. I can't be sure but it looks to me like the jar file containing the package javax.crypto.e has not been signed by Sun. If you are writing your own provider then you would do well to look at reply #7 of http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5222038 .

  • How do i throw BPEL exception from java embedded activity

    Hello everybody,
    i want to use some embedded java code in my BPEL process (bpelx:exec). This code would sometimes throw exceptions. How can i deal with these exceptions to control my BPEL process? I would like, in a sense, to do some catching of java exceptions but at the BPEL level... for example, my java code would throw an exception, that my BPEL process would "catch" and react the way i want. Is it possible to do that?
    Thanks for your help!

    JAVA DOA:
    new SqlParameter("pColSort", Types.ARRAY, "HTP.STRINGARRAY"),I don't know much (??) java and can't understand your error messages as they are not in english.
    But I have a feeling that the error is because either
    a) "Types.ARRAY" in Java world probably does not map to an index-by table in oracle or
    b) the array must be created as a SQL TYPE and not as a package variable or
    c) both of the above
    You may want to try following approaches
    1) Change the array type declaration to nested table i.e. use "type STRINGARRAY is table of varchar2(256)"
    2) If the above does not work, then create a sql type (using CREATE TYPE statement) to create STRINGARRAY as a SQL type of varchar2(256)
    Hope this helps.

  • Call from Java Plsql Procedure with VArray as Out Parameter

    Hi,
    I have a Java web application(Tomcat server) that call a plsql procedure with Varray as OUT parameter.

    When i run the application, I get the following error msg in my Tomcat window:

    Doubt: Do I need to declare ArrayDescriptors to retrieve the VArray from the Plsql procedure.
    I think the below statement is enough; we need ArrayDescriptors only when we we wish to send a Plsql Object or Varray from Java code to the procedure. Plz correct me if not so.
    dbCallableStatement.execute();
    ARRAY SimpleOUTArray = (ARRAY) ((OracleCallableStatement) dbCallableStatement).
    getObject(Integer.parseInt(arlParameterOutIndex.get(i).toString()));{color}
    I am unable to realize where the mistake is?

  • Calling stored procedure from Java raises ORA-1722 exception

    Hi,
    As the title says, when I call the stored procedure from java I got the exception ORA-1722 (invalid number) but I've checked and rechecked my procedure on SQL-Developer and It's alright it works nice and clean !
    What's happening? is there something I'm missing?
    The way I call the stored procedure is:
        public void execProcedure(String procedure) {
            CallableStatement cs;
            try {
                cs = conn.prepareCall(procedure);
                cs.execute();
            } catch (SQLException ex) {
                Logger.getLogger(Database.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
         where
        String procedure = "{call validateinfo}"I really need help on this, it's frustraiting me 'cause I need to finish a system but this little big problem is killing me ...
    Thanks any advice is very welcome :)

    Thanks for your help. Haven't tested the SP with a DB access client... which one do you recommend to use?
    The SP is the following:
    create or replace
    PROCEDURE validateInfo IS
      var number;
    BEGIN
      UPDATE temp_desarrollo
      SET status = '1';
      COMMIT;
      // Some string validations ...
      //This one just checks if the value of "monto" is a number
      //This update goes good
      UPDATE temp_desarrollo tmp
      SET cve_status = Decode(cve_status, NULL, '15', cve_status||',15')
      WHERE IsNumber(tmp.monto) = 'F';
      COMMIT;*/
      //This one just checks if the value of "monto" is greater than 0
      //if not, change de add to cve_status an errorValue
      UPDATE temp_desarrollo tmp
      SET cve_status = Decode(cve_status, NULL, '14', cve_status||',14')
      WHERE (cve_status NOT LIKE '%15%' OR cve_status IS NULL)
      AND to_number(tmp.monto) <= 0;
      COMMIT;
      //More string validations
      EXCEPTION
        WHEN OTHERS THEN
          var := SQLCODE;
          insert into excepciones values(to_char(var));
    END;I've deleted much code from the SP since I know there's nothing to do with the excepcion, just that UPDATE statement is the one giving me the exception.
    If those two UPDATES statements work with the same field (monto) why the first one is succeding and the second one not?
    Cheers,
    Federico
    P.S. the "isNumber" function is as follows, just in case.
    create or replace
    function IsNumber(val1 varchar2) return varchar2 is
      n number := null;
    begin
      n := to_number(val1,'9999999999999999.99');
        return 'T';
      exception
        when others then

  • Does wscompile generate "fault" tag in WSDL file from Java exception class?

    I'm trying to generate WSDL files from Java classes. I defined some of my own exception that inherits from "RemoteException", but wscompile doesn't generate the corresponding complex type and "fault" tag. Does anyone know if this is a bug or wscompile doesn't support from Java Exception to fault?
    Thanks

    It will if the exceptions do not inherit from RemoteException.

  • Passing array from java stored procedure to plsql

    I have a java store procedure that is parsing an xml document and returning element values to my plsql application(8.1.7). I'm mapping a java.lang.String return type to VARCHAR2. However I'm running into the 4k limit when trying to return a string from java that is over 4k. Truncation of varchar returning over 4k is a known issue in 8i.
    So my next idea was to split that value of the element into 2000char and put in an array then pass that back to the plsql procedure. I know that oracle.sql.ARRAY can be converted into a plsql TABLE. But I believe you can only use the oracle.sql.ARRAY type when you are doing jdbc programming and are working with a connection.
    SO FINALLY MY QUESTION IS...
    Can anyone think of a solution that will allow me to pass over 4k of character data from my java stored procedure (not jdbc), back to my plsql app?
    Thanks.

    My understanding is that oracle 8 has a 4k limitation on any plsql function return data. A varchar can hold 32k within a function/package, but it cannot return more than 4k outside it's scope.
    Do you have an example you could share where you use the clob as a return type?
    Thanks!
