Plugin 1.3.1_02 won't cache my jars

I have an unsigned applet application packaged as 3 jars. I'm using the 1.3.1_02 plugin, IE 5.5, Weblogic 5.1. Below is the html OBJECT tag used to launch my applet.
<OBJECT classid="clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93"
     width="100%" height="100%"
     align="baseline"
     codebase="http://myServer:myPort/j2re-1_3_1_02-win.exe#Version=1,3,1,2">
     <PARAM NAME="MAYSCRIPT" VALUE="true">
     <PARAM NAME="code" VALUE="myApplet.class">
     <PARAM NAME="codebase" VALUE="classes/">
     <PARAM NAME="type" VALUE="application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.3.1_02">
     <PARAM NAME="cache_option" VALUE="Plugin">
     <PARAM NAME="cache_archive" VALUE="a.jar,b.jar,c.jar">
</OBJECT>Sticky caching will not work. The jars are downloaded from the server every time the applet is run. The jars would cache correctly when I was using the 1.3.0 plugin.
According to the information here
http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/1.3/docs/appletcaching.html
the jars should be downloaded only if the last modified and jar size have changed.
I realize that I can use the cache_version attibute, but this is an unworkable solution for my case. The html is above is generated dynamically. Also, if I want to tie the jar versions to the application's release versions structure of the attribute (cache_version =X.X.X.X where X could be from 0 to F in hexadecimal) limits me to a finite number of major release version id's.
I am not using HTTPS which will only cache using the cache_version attibute.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi There,
Did u get reply for yr question,. I've the same problem. Pls let me know if u've any solution for this.

  • JRE won't cache some jar files.

    I have seen this behavior several times and cannot figure it out. For some reason, the JRE will not always cache jar files. I have tried to narrow down a pattern, but cannot. The closest pattern I can see is that on occasions when a jar is not cached, the file was not signed. I have not seen an instance when a signed jar would not cache. Having said that, occassionally, unsigned jars do appear to be cached.
    This behavior has been seen with all versions from 1.4 - 1.6. In all cases, the max cache size is far great than would ever be needed and in most cases, jar cache is cleared prior to testing.
    Any hints, or is this expected behavior? If expected, is it documented anywhere?

    Hi Matthew,
    I get the same error when using the Camino browser and StuffIt v9.0.1. So, I'd guess it's a problem with the file rather than anything on our machines.

  • Shared Content InDesign Plugin for InDesign CS4 won't open file

    Yesterday I discontinued using Adobe CC and went back to using my Adobe InDesign CS4.  CS4 is working OK but there is ONE file that won't open.  I get the message "Shared Content InDesign Plugin is currently not available on your system".  The file will not open. Is there a workaround or how do I get the required plugin?

    You get that error when the file was saved in CS5 or later. You can find out the version using the script at Adobe Forums: [Ann] Identify Your InDesign File.
    You'll need to export the file to .idml from the newer version to be able to open it in CS4. This is something I normally offer to do, but I'm not available for at least a week, so perhaps one of our other regulars can step up and volunteer.

  • Unnecessary class lookups from plugin 1.3.1_02

    I'm deploying an application in several jars that refer to each other with classpaths in their manifests.
    I notice when running the applet (Plugin version 1.3.1_02) that hundreds of messages of the form 'Opening http://.....fred.class' appear in my browser status bar (IE6). All this unnecessary http requesting slows the load time down considerably.
    The classloader (printed in the console) shows that the first path to search is the codebase - but there aren't any classes there - they're all in jars.
    Is there a way to stop the plugin looking in the codebase for the classes? Perhaps it's a side-effect of multiple jars? I've tried setting java_codebase to empty (fails to find my applet class), to the 'start' jar (makes up a very long URL and fails to find my class) and to the 'JAR syntax' (with !/ at the end) and none of them stop it.

  • Flash Builder plugin for Eclipse (Java) won't work

    I have installed Flash Builder Premium and then ran Plugin Utility to plug it into an existing Eclipse install. Now when I start my existing Eclipse, I see this error in logs - "org.eclipse.equinox.p2.core.ProvisionException: No repository found at file:/C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Adobe/Adobe%20Flash%20Builder%204.6/.". I have Flash Builder Premium 4.6 installed at "C:\Program Files (x86)/Adobe/Adobe Flash Builder 4.6".

    Just to add to it (if it helps) - I'm able to run Flash Builder in standalone mode with Eclipse version that comes with it. However, the plugin into my existing Eclipse(3.7.2) won't work. Any idea what could be the problem?

  • Patches Page Empty & won't cache unless added in members tab

    I just installed 11.3 and turned on Patch Management for the first time last week.
    I've watched the demo on Youtube. I've read all the documentation. Something is just wrong with the system. There are no patches listed on the Patches tab under Patch Management.
    The only way that I could actually make it download any bundles was to create a Patch Policy. The Patches tab on the policy is also blank. However I noticed that I could create rules and the would actually create a list. However none of them ever got cached. The only way to get them to cache and create the bundles was to add them manually in the members tab. As soon as I did that, all of the bundles downloaded.
    However, they still never show up in any of the patches tabs as patched or unpatched. The Recently Released Patches never lists anything either. They aren't patching on any workstations, and there is no reporting on them. I also tried to see if I could create the old baseline instead of a policy, but as no patches ever show up in the patches tab on a workstation group I can't even do that.
    I've see the following KB https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7014327 but I don't have those errors in my logs. I definitely ran out of space the very first time I finally got it to download and cache the patches, however I've added a ton more space and I reset the server with the "Reset ZENworks Patch Management Settings" button under Configuration -> Subscription Service Information.
    I'm at a total loss here. The documentation is not very good about the process of how it should work after it has been setup and configured.
    I also have about 40 patches that list as failed in my status tab. Only 5 of them say "Failed to download one or more packages". The rest of them say "Cache request ignored. You must enable the patch before trying again." So what the heck does that mean? The "Cache request ignored" ones all look like patches that probably don't apply to the few workstations that I have the patch policy applied to. If I hover over the gray icon in the members tab of the patch policy for one of these policies it says it is disabled.
    I also noticed that on the primary server assigned to be the patch downloader that the dashboard is essentially blank. However on my other primary server, the dashboard has what looks like dummy data populated in it.
    Any hints? Has anyone seen this kind of behavior. I am finding it hard to get information on Patch Management 11.3 on the Internet because it is so new I suppose. Help!

  • "Plugin Check and Updates" won't work (been spinning for 20 minutes). And there's no way to ask for help.

    Many warnings are popping up today saying my Adobe plugin is out of date, yet when I go to the "plugin check" page and click "plugin status," it never loads. As in literally. And no search has brought up a solution. And Mozilla's solution is...to go to the "plugin check and updates" page. So, um. I'm in a vortex. Any suggestions? Is there a way to actually tell Mozilla about this problem? So far, I'm still in the faq loop, with no hope of technical support. ...help? (ps: Windows Vista, have used Firefox since it was first available).

    - You can manually save and install the update:
    Flash 16:

    Direct link:
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_16_plugin.exe
    - the Add-on tab will show the newly updated Flash 16 (no more "update now" link)
    - But the "Check Your Plugins" page still fails to work properly, it does not recognize the Flash 16 update', and will not check to see if other plug-ins need updating'''

  • Migration plugin issues - MD_META package won't compile (9i)

    I downloaded the SQL Server migration plugin yesterday and, after working through a few issues, finally got to the point where I could create a repository (in a new schema I named "MIGRATIONS") and connect to a SQL Server 2000 database. I selected a specific SQL Server DB, right mouse clicked, and selected "Capture Schema." It very quickly completed (about 2 seconds - too quickly for it to have actually captured anything), I clicked OK, and the Migration Log displayed the following message:
    oracle.dbtools.metadata.persistence.PersistenceException: ORA-04098: trigger 'MIGRATIONS.MD_PROJECTS_TRG' is invalid and failed re-validation.
    Upon closer inspection of the MIGRATIONS schema, I discovered several packages with red X's (e.g., MD_META). When I try to compile them, I get the following errors:
    Error(1): PLS-00908: The stored format of MD_META is not supported by this release
    Error(22,2): PLS-00114: identifier 'O7PUTBAIFZKA3IHSJ5AC4ZXWYAWG41' too long
    Error(22,2): PLS-00707: unsupported construct or internal error [2702]
    FWIW, the version of Oracle we're using is 9i. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    I've read there is a patch with 9i wrappers about, but can't seem to find or locate it Can you point in a direction? I've already posted a message out onto the apex site.
    Thanks for any assistance.

  • Java 1.6 won't download library jar files

    I am developing 2 applets for use on an embedded web server, similar to what you would see when you connect to the web interface of a network router. I need charting functionality in both applets, so I'm using an open source Java charting library called JFreeChart. I have very limited disk space, so I want to keep the JFreeChart jar seperate from my applet jar, rather than zipping JFreeChart with each applet. So I've placed the files on the ebedded web server like this:
    applet_1.html
    applet_1.jar
    applet_2.html
    applet_2.jar
    lib/JFreeChart.jar
    When I open applet_1.html with Java 1.5_11 installed, the JFreeChart library jar downloads with no issues, but for some reason when I install Java 1.6_1 it just hangs. The java console shows the following:
    network: Cache entry not found [url: http://10.0.1.200/lib/jfreechart-1.0.5.jar, version: null]
    network: Connecting http://10.0.1.200/lib/jfreechart-1.0.5.jar with proxy=DIRECT
    network: Cache entry not found [url: http://10.0.1.200/lib/jfreechart-1.0.5.jar, version: null]
    network: Connecting http://10.0.1.200/jfreechart-1.0.5.jar with proxy=DIRECT
    1.5_11 actually shows the same thing, except the jar downloads just fine.
    In researching this problem I've found that there is apparently an "entirely new downloading engine" in Java 1.6, which is supposed to help with Web Start applications. That leads me to beleive that this is a bug with the new engine.
    Should I submit a bug report? I have a packet sniffer program that I could use to capture the packets between the host PC and the web server, should I try to get this info to help diagnose the problem?

    I am seeing similar entries with another applet.
    I see three attempts on my Windows XP machine with JRE 1.6.0_10-rc2
    one for /lib/QTJava.zip (which isn't there, nor should it need to be)
    one for /lib/plugin.jar
    and one for /lib/lib
    Why on earth the applet or JRE is looking for stuff in those folders in beyond me, but it is adding 4 seconds to the applet load time while it goes off on a shopping spree trying to find things.
    The same applet, when loaded on Windows Vista with JRE 1.6.0_07, the console doesn't show those errors at all.

  • Oracle 11g application won't start sometimes(jar files issue)

    Hello,
    The issue we experience is that now and then, our forms 11g application
    won't start.
    So it can be the case that, for example, the application can be started
    succesfully 5 times in a row, but the 6th and 7th time, it won't start
    anymore. But when we relaunch it for the 8th time, it launches perfectly.
    When the application isn't starting, a new window is opened having a yellow triangle
    with an exclamation mark on the top right corner.
    After a long period, we suddely discovered that it had something to do with ".jar" files.
    Because when we clear the "java jar cache" on the client machine
    (start -> control panel -> java -> "general" tab -> "view..." button -> select all the files and click on the
    cross(remove selected sources) ), the application succesfully starts for about 10 times in a row.
    But the first time we start the application(after clearing the cache), it takes much longer, because the application
    is downloading the .jar files again. (java logo appears with a progress bar)
    But clearing the cache every time before starting the application can't be a decent solution we think.
    When we enable all java debugging info in the console, we received the error below 2 times when launching a application session that refused to start:

    Sorry, I meant WEB-INF\lib in the WAR file inside my EAR.
    I put all the jar files in the WEB-INF\lib of the WAR file but it still does not work. I have to specify them in the classpaths and put the jar files in the domains\domain\lib directory
    I thought if you put it in the WEB-INF\lib then you don't have to put them in the classpath.
    Am I right?

  • I have problem with the BPEL server caching the jar file of Instance

    Is there any way to undeploy and redeploy a process where you have changes to the underlying DA, without the BEPL server being restarted. This always works in my Local BPEL server in my Laptop. But when deploying in the hosted BPEL enviroment it becomes a big problem in getting it restarted when ever I MAKE changes.
    Is there any other way to disable the Cache of the instance and make it use the newer version uploaded. One more thing if the connection to a database is severed, then the DA will not work until the server is restarted. All the instances using the said connection is failing with either "Invalid Datatype" or "Socket Read exception". Can someone help!!

  • Prevent caching of JARs

    Dear Friends,

    Does your jar have feelings and dreams - is it trying to better itself ? (Sorry I couldn't help, just did a psych test ;-P )
