Plugin for eclipse for using log4j in jsp ?

Plz tell me is there any plugin (eclipse) for using log4j in jsp pages similar to log4e. As log4e is not working with jsp in Myeclipse

I used log4e plugin to use log4j in eclipse. Its also working fine with servlets in eclipse. For working with web applications i installed MyEclipse. In this when i right click on the servlet editor log4e item is shown for automatic adding of log4j instructions(like adding logger etc) but when i try to use it by opening the jsp page log4e option is not in menu when right clicked. So i think for jsp seperate plugin is needed.
What do u think.

Do I have to use Crystal for Eclipse? Using JRC - Performance is SLOW.

I have several applications using the JRC to run Crystal from within the application and like many others on here, the performance is unacceptable. 20 minutes to an hour for a 500 page report that runs in under 5 minutes in Crystal itself. I see most of the recommendations being to use Crystal for Eclipse version 2, which I'm assuming fixes some of these bugs. However, our applications are not being developed in Eclipse, but in IntelliJ. If I use C4E, aren't I committing to using Eclipse as a software development platform? I was using JRC because it was a set of JAR files that I could plug into my existing application. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Are there examples of code for using the JSF viewer tag for JRC in your application? I downloaded the new runtime libraries and I'm not noticing much performance improvement. For example, when the report runs and displays in the viewer, it takes from 40-50 seconds to click the pagination button and go from page 1 to 2 and then 2 to 3, etc. My users are screaming about wanting a replacement for this technology, but I'm telling them I must have something configured wrong somewhere. The Crystal report running in plain old Crystal is fast, so it's not the database query or anything like that. In addition, when I click the export to PDF button, it takes as long to export it to PDF as it did to run the report initially and bring it up in the viewer. HELP!!! Thanks for any feedback you can give me, I'm baffled.

How to set the debug port for Eclipse for OracleAS 10g Enterprise

I am using OracleAS 10g Enterprise, and using dcmctl to startup the server.
But i do not know how to set the debug port in the startup script for debugging with Eclipse.
I have tried to add the following options to the dcmctl.bat, but still failed:
-Xdebug -Xnoagent -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=y,address=4000
i.e in the dcmctl.bat script:
set jvmargs=-Xdebug -Xnoagent -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=y,address=4000

JSP editor plugin for Eclipse

Hello,
I use now a trial version of www.myeclipseide.com for the JSP editor. It is much better then a classic text editor but I was wondering if there is a preferred JSP editor plugin for the PDK.
Do you have any good experiences or tips with other plugins?

Oracle Enterprise pack for Eclipse licensing nightmare for OSB plugin

We would like to use Oracle Enterprise pack for Eclipse for developing Oracle Service Bus applications. OEPE is downloadable from OTN freely, but the OSB plugin is embedded into the full OSB product. We do not want to pay a full OSB license for a lot of development workstations only to develop services. Is it possible to install only the free(?) plugin from OSB to the OEPE development workstations?

Crystal Reports for Eclipse vs. Crystal Reports Developer

We are developing a Java web application for internal use. Since we have some people at the company who are familiar with Crystal Reports, we'd like to have them write reports that we can display through our application. Crystal Reports Server seems like overkill for this project, but the <a href="http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/BusinessObjectsXIR2/en/devsuite.htm#en/JRC_SDK/">JRC</a> sounded like a good fit.
I have been evaluating <a href="http://www.businessobjects.com/products/reporting/crystalreports/developer/default.asp">Crystal Reports Developer</a> and trying out the <a href="http://support.businessobjects.com/communityCS/FilesAndUpdates/crxi_r2_jrc_web_samples.zip.asp">JRC samples</a>. The samples don't use the tag library. Instead, they show how to set session variables and redirect to a viewer JSP which contains a bunch of Java code to use the CrystalReportViewer.
The samples are so much more complex than the code created by Crystal Reports for Eclipse, which simply uses the tag library:

There isn't any activation or a Oracle specific perspective. If the installation was successful you should see the following features:
- In Server view, New > Server
>> "BEA Systems, Inc." node with a list of WLS version support (Older version)
>> "Oracle" node, with "Oracle WebLogic Server v10.3" support
- Switch to Database Development perspective
>> right click on Databases > New - You should see "Oracle Database Connection"
- Help > Help Contents - "Oracle Enterprise pack for Eclipse" contains the documentation for all the features.

Log4j and Jsp

Hiii All,
I am trying to use Log4j with jsps. I am using the log taglib from jakarta along with Log4j.
I wants to do the logging for any kind of exceptions also. I tried to use the log tags in expection. But, it didn't work.
Here is what i m using. What can be the problem with this. Moreover, i have kept my Log4j.properties in classpath.(\tomcat\webapp\WEB-INF\classes)

I have placed the log.tld in
webapps\test\WEB-INF\jsp\log.tld
I have placed the jar files in
webapps\test\WEB-INF\lib\log.jar
webapps\test\WEB-INF\lib\log4j-core.jar
I am getting the output in console but not in file. Moreover, i m not getting the exception info also in file.
I am using TestLogging.java file for initialising log4j.

Just as an aside, a JSP is a Servlet. But even if I move beyond that, the question does not make sense. If you want a "JSP to upload to a Servlet", then simply do so in memory. You are still (likely) within the same scope of a given request. However, if instead you are referring to a JSP that is displayed on a browser, then really you are talking about HTML, which is what the browser will receive. And since you are now talking about a browser, your only real, viable option is a multi-part file upload. So, it is either server or it is browser. And either way, the question leads to very established options, as outlined above.

a particular file and clicks the button upload..after
clicking upload the jsp should sent the file to the
servlet in streams...there the servlet gets in and
saves in a server location........this is wat i hav

Okay. So, after reading my previous (redundant) paragraph, we have arrived at the crux of the issue. You have a JSP that will be output as HTML to a client (browser) which you want to upload content to your server (handled by a Servlet). So, you are now stuck again with multi-part. The requirement to not use multi-part is non-sensical. You can overcome it, say, if you write your own applet or standalone Swing client. However, if your users are invoking this functionality from a browser, you are limited by the options that W3C has provided you. Use multi-part.

pls help....Take the advice to download and review Jakarta Commons FileUpload. Inform your management that their requirement makes no technical sense. Research on your own. There are dozens of examples (and tutorials) on file upload using multi-part. Embrace it. Live it. Love it.

Problem with Crystal XI reports used with CR plugin for Eclipse 2.0

Hi All,
I have downloaded the latest CR plugin for eclipse (2.0), integrated with Eclipse 3.5.
I tried to use an existing report file created from Crystal Reports version XI in the following two ways.
1) Including the Crystal Report in to JSP page through viewer tags.
It worked fine
2) I tried to include the report in a JSP through using CRJavaHelper.java provided by default in the Web Project created. I changed the connection string, driver name, user ID and password.
it's throwing up an error:

with the root exception as below:

JSP debugging plugin for eclipse 3.2

Hi,
I was looking for a plugin for eclipse 3.2 which can be used for JSP debugging purpose(not myeclipse).
If any thing of such sort exists?

Should be something like
- extract the plugin into the plugins directory
- restart eclipse
- create a clean project (to prevent artefacts)
- rightclick the project, select from the menu team->share project
- choose the VSS option and point it to your VSS server
- team->update
- team -> check out on the file you need to change
- team -> check in after modification
