PM's accesspoint and BPEL's WSDL question

Hi all
I am new to Oracle BPEL PM and JDev, and here are my questions:
*. I have installed PM when i was connected in a local network, say my ip is 192.168.0.1. Every time i deploy a new process, it will automatically set the service's endpoint as http://192.168.0.1/blah..... After i changed my network area, every time i deploy a new service, its still at 192.168.0.1/.... so could anyone tell me how to change/set it accordingly?
*. For JDev BPEL designer, automatic generated WSDL always include schema, how can i change this to define type schema directly in WSDL file otherwise the exposed service uses included schema which brings troubles when generating client stubs.
*. JDev already provide asynchronism and synchronism patterns, but say syn for example, if i want to have multiple <receive> or <reply>, what can i do with the default pattern except creating a empty BPEL and add everything manually?
Best Regard

Hi,
perhaps this helps for you first question:

  • How to add wsdl files and bpel files in new folders automatically

    Hi All,
In our project, we have a lot of wsdl files and bpel file generated.
By default, they are all under the folder of SOA Content, like a mess.
I want to put them in separate folders.
I can manually change the wsdl location and manually change references to these wsdls, but it will take a lot of extra time to do so.
Is there a way to achieve this in UI?
    Thanks and Regards!
    Bruce

    Hi Eric,
    Thanks for your reply!
I can use refector->move to move the wsdl file to newly created folders.
But unfortunately, JDeveloper won't update the references to the wsdl files.
I have to update the references manually, and it will take a lot of time if there exists many wsdl files in one project.
    Thanks and Regards!

  • Oracle Workflow - Statement of Direction and BPEL

    Hi,
I am starting to study Oracle BPEL and other people at my company are studying Oracle Workflow.
Recently I found the following article at the OTN, regarding the Statement of Direction of Oracle Workflow:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/workflow/workflow_sod.html
    It finishes saying:
"As Oracle BPEL Process Manager provides out-of-the-box features for building human-based workflows, rules-based process automation, and integration style business processes, further development on OW4J will not continue and OW4J will not be released.
Any new or existing customers who wish to build business processes in the middle tier are recommended to use Oracle BPEL Process Manager."
So my question is: Does Oracle BPEL provides (or will provide) all the functionality implemented in Oracle Workflow ? If not what are the main differences ?
I will be waiting for your thoughts
    Thanks,
    Claudio.

Site mentioned above is an internal site. External site is http://otn.oracle.com/bpel
I think the above highlighted SOD is about Oracle initiative to re-write current pl/sql based Workflow engine in Java so that it can ported to middle-tier. Since the acuisition of Collaxa they seems to be dumped that idea and positioning Oracle BPEL as the middle-tier process orchestration (BPM) solution.
Having said that let me take a shot at comparing Oracle Workflow and BPEL products....
    Oracle Workflow
    * No way getting dropped as Oracle EBS has huge investments in it
    * Oracle Fusion Applications has plans to use the Oracle Workflow BES functionality extensively
    * Good for modeling business processes within a single DB/application instances. It's possible to integrate with external apps but not an elegant solution
    * Web Services can be a functional activity with in the work flow but again not an elegant solution. Requires DB java, queues and a listener
    * Doensn't provide sophisticated modeling artifacts like TaskManager, Faults, sensors etc out of the box. It's possible to build your own library.
    * Better performanent if the entire process interaction is within a single instance like Oracle EBS account generators, approval flows etc.
    * Based on proprietary technology
    Oracle BPEL
    * Based on standards like BPEL, WSDL and WSIF
    * What ever you can do in workflow can be done in BPEL but not the otherway round
    * Has adapters to interact with various transports like JDBC, AQ, JMS, JCA, HTTP. That means integration with existing workflows is very easy
    * Interation with Oracle AQs seem to be trivial as there is a native JCA based adapter for it
    * You may get performance hit because of the multiple connection points. You may be loosing performance but gaining in flexibility
Overall Oracle BPEL seems to be the way to go if your business process involves multiple applications.

  • BPEL Dehydration/Memory question

I’m using Oracle BPEL PM 10.1.2.0.2 running on Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.
My scenario is simple, I’m using manual tasks in my flows that can be open for several days, and therefore it won’t be good if the processes stay in memory, consuming resources.
My question is that when an Asynchronous process invokes a partner link, and waits for the corresponding reply, what happens to that process? Does it stay in memory until the response? Is it release from memory, staying persistently in the Dehydration DB? If not, Can we force the process to do so?
    Tks,
    Alex Costa

    Hi Clemens
as you said, I am using a "wait" activity on a BPEL process just after the initial receive, in order to force dehydration in the start of the process. However, after the "wait" there is a "java:exec" activity which takes long time to finish (15 minutes), and the BPEL instance is not shown on the BPEL Console until the "java:exece" finishes...
Am I confusing about dehydration and BPEL Instances?? I understand that when a BPEL suffers dehydration, it starts to apear on BPEL Console, or there is no relation between dehydration and instances on BPEL Console?
    Thanks.

  • OSB and BPEL Capacity Planning

    Guys,
I am looking for a start point to begin a capacity planing of OSB and BPEL infrastructure.
What are the parameters to take in account?
    How many managed servers?
    RAM?
    CPU?
I know that some answers might be shallow because there are so many factor to work with, but I need a small guidance.
    Anyone?
    Thanks a lot

You can't expect a serious answer to your question. With so many unknown factors in place ...
However, if we stay on this "general level", then based on my experience I can easily say that OSB is not greedy at all. You can handle tens to hundreds of requests per second on a retail hardware. Of course, it all depends on the character of your services. The more complexity (XQuery, XSLT, service callouts, java callouts) you add to your services the more power you need.

  • Fault policies  for Mediator and BPEL

    Hi
Can i use same fault-policies.xml for both mediator and BPEL or i need to create different fault-policies.xml

Yes you can use the same file, just you need to mention the BPEL/Mediator name with in component tag. Like below in fault policy file.
    <component faultPolicy="FusionMidFaults">
    <name>MediatorName</name>
    <name>BPELName</name>
    </component>
You can refer the below URL.

  • Modifying and reading the WSDL file

Ive got some questions about modifying and reading the WSDL file:
    READING
I want to read the elements of a determinated type (for example, documentation) from an WSDL that is in an URI. How can I do it?
Ive been trying with the api from IBM WSDL4J, but I wasnt able to create an Element from type "documentation" to search it (if that is the way...)
    MODIFYING
How can I insert in an WSDL file a new element (for example documentation) in an exactly place?
    Any help is grateful,
    Thanks in advance
    Gobellot

The problem is I want to insert documentation elements (and that is not done automatically by the jwsdp (unless i dont know how to do it, please tell me if there is a way) and I want to interpret too some things from the documentation elements so I have to read it separately because de wsdltojava doesnt do anything special for that.
    thanks anyway

  • Eclipse and BPEL

Hi, I've a problem with Eclipse BPEL designer plugin (eclipse 3.3). I'm trying to create a BPEL process with eclipse and deploy it in oracle bpel process manager (10.1.3.1), but the format of the xml file created from eclipse isn't valid for oracle! In oracle examples, in fact, bpel files are in this format:
    code:
    <process name="CreditRatingService"
    targetNamespace="http://services.otn.com"
    suppressJoinFailure="yes"
    xmlns:tns="http://services.otn.com"
    xmlns="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/03/business-process/"
    xmlns:bpws="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/03/business-process/">
    <variable....>
but in eclipse the output file is:
    code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <bpws rocess exitOnStandardFault="yes"
    name="bpeltest"
    xmlns:bpws="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wsbpel/2.0/process/executable"
    xmlns:ns="UGGH"
    xmlns:ns0=http://www.bpeltest.it/bpeltest/>
    <bpws:variable....>
The strange fact is that eclipse create an xml in correct format (the first) at the end of the create bpel file wizard... But at the first save... The format become the second!
    Please, help!

Create the partner link as you normally would in the New partnerLink Wizard (launched either from the Add Partner Link link in the 'Overview' view or from the Create PartnerLink option in the partnerLink pull down in the BPEL Inspector view of an invoke operation).
After you type in the URL of the WSDL you want to link to, you will see a warning beneath the parnerLinkType text box that reads 'This WSDL does not include a partnerLinkType'. Next to that will be a link titled 'Auto-generate one'. Clicking on this link will create a 'services' sub-directory in your project folder (if one doesn't exist already) and a wrapper WSDL called '<ServiceName>.wsdl'
Example: if you use the WSDL at http://localhost:8080/axis/services/AdminService?wsdl (the Apache-Axis Admin Service), the wrapper would be created as services/AdminServiceWrapper.wsdl, which consists of a parnerLinkType element and an import element which imports the real WSDL.
From here, you can use the Axis web service as you would any other web service.

  • Siebel OnDemand Web Services and BPEL II

We are trying to do a POC for a given client that is trying to decide between SOD and another on demand CRM product.
Our POC is to integrate SOD using bpel and sending data to a back end system with SOD as the originator and instigator of the flow.
We intend to take data from an integration event pull it into bpel do a transformation to add data to it and update SOD to complete the circuit.
We are having a few issues and was wondering if you can provide some insight since we would like to put SOD at this site.
    Our issues are :)
    Issue 1
When we import the WSDL for the Integration event the scheema's are not resolved.
Issue 2. When we import more than one WSDL in our flow it has issues with duplicates between the 2 wsdls..
    issue 3.
We have succesfully used the example application to do our login and faked out the endpoint but have not been able to automate this step.
We found an example online at oracle ( http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/fmw4apps/siebel/ofm-siebel-blog-postings.html)
(We got that link from the other BPEL post: Siebel OnDemand Web Services and BPEL
But when we copy the code into our embeded java object it doesn't work. I think that we may be missing some of the code to use.
Do we have the full copy of this java object?
here is hte error that we get from bpel

I'm also trying to do this.
Some info from the Siebel web services guide:-
"The login request is an HTTPS request to instantiate a session and obtain a session ID. A client invokes login by sending an HTTP GET request to a URL like the following:
    https://secure.crmondemand.com/Services/Integration?command=login
NOTE: The login parameter value is case sensitive.
    ■ Login input. The input to login is provided in the URL parameters and the HTTP headers, as follows:
    ■ The only URL parameter to be set is command. This parameter value is login.
Two HTTP headers, UserName and Password, must be set with the appropriate values for your system. For example:
    ❏ UserName: [email protected]
    ❏ Password: mypass
    ■ Login output. The login command returns the following items:
    ■ A session cookie, jsessionid. The client must use this cookie when submitting subsequent requests, including logoff requests.
    ■ A status code of 200, if the session does not encounter any errors. This indicates that the request succeeded.
Then to get data out ....
Integration request input. The jsessionid returned to the client during login must be included with the request. The request must contain the jsessionid either as a cookie or as a URL parameter, as follows:
    https://secure.crmondemand.com/Services/Integration/object;jsessionid=xyZ12489w3482413
Does anyone have any ideas on how we might do this using the Oracle BPEL PM?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Understanding configuration of Quartz and BPEL

can you please briefly explain configuration of Quartz and BPEL .
If possible could you please step by step procedure to schedule simple hello world BPEL process.
Thanks inadvance. It would be great help.

    Hi Praveen
    public class CronTrigger
    extends Trigger
A concrete Trigger that is used to fire a JobDetail at given moments in time, defined with Unix 'cron-like' definitions.
For those unfamiliar with "cron", this means being able to create a firing schedule such as: "At 8:00am every Monday through Friday" or "At 1:30am every last Friday of the month".
A "Cron-Expression" is a string comprised of 6 or 7 fields separated by white space. The 6 mandatory and 1 optional fields are as follows:
Field Name Allowed Values Allowed Special Characters
    Seconds 0-59 , - * /
    Minutes 0-59 , - * /
    Hours 0-23 , - * /
    Day-of-month 1-31 , - * ? / L W C
    Month 1-12 or JAN-DEC , - * /
    Day-of-Week 1-7 or SUN-SAT , - * ? / L C #
    Year (Optional) empty, 1970-2099 , - * /
The '*' character is used to specify all values. For example, "*" in the minute field means "every minute".
The '?' character is allowed for the day-of-month and day-of-week fields. It is used to specify 'no specific value'. This is useful when you need to specify something in one of the two fileds, but not the other. See the examples below for clarification.
The '-' character is used to specify ranges For example "10-12" in the hour field means "the hours 10, 11 and 12".
The ',' character is used to specify additional values. For example "MON,WED,FRI" in the day-of-week field means "the days Monday, Wednesday, and Friday".
The '/' character is used to specify increments. For example "0/15" in the seconds field means "the seconds 0, 15, 30, and 45". And "5/15" in the seconds field means "the seconds 5, 20, 35, and 50". You can also specify '/' after the '*' character - in this case '*' is equivalent to having '0' before the '/'.
The 'L' character is allowed for the day-of-month and day-of-week fields. This character is short-hand for "last", but it has different meaning in each of the two fields. For example, the value "L" in the day-of-month field means "the last day of the month" - day 31 for January, day 28 for February on non-leap years. If used in the day-of-week field by itself, it simply means "7" or "SAT". But if used in the day-of-week field after another value, it means "the last xxx day of the month" - for example "6L" means "the last friday of the month". When using the 'L' option, it is important not to specify lists, or ranges of values, as you'll get confusing results.
The 'W' character is allowed for the day-of-month field. This character is used to specify the weekday (Monday-Friday) nearest the given day. As an example, if you were to specify "15W" as the value for the day-of-month field, the meaning is: "the nearest weekday to the 15th of the month". So if the 15th is a Saturday, the trigger will fire on Friday the 14th. If the 15th is a Sunday, the trigger will fire on Monday the 16th. If the 15th is a Tuesday, then it will fire on Tuesday the 15th. However if you specify "1W" as the value for day-of-month, and the 1st is a Saturday, the trigger will fire on Monday the 3rd, as it will not 'jump' over the boundary of a month's days. The 'W' character can only be specified when the day-of-month is a single day, not a range or list of days.
The 'L' and 'W' characters can also be combined for the day-of-month expression to yield 'LW', which translates to "last weekday of the month".
The '#' character is allowed for the day-of-week field. This character is used to specify "the nth" XXX day of the month. For example, the value of "6#3" in the day-of-week field means the third Friday of the month (day 6 = Friday and "#3" = the 3rd one in the month). Other examples: "2#1" = the first Monday of the month and "4#5" = the fifth Wednesday of the month. Note that if you specify "#5" and there is not 5 of the given day-of-week in the month, then no firing will occur that month.
The 'C' character is allowed for the day-of-month and day-of-week fields. This character is short-hand for "calendar". This means values are calculated against the associated calendar, if any. If no calendar is associated, then it is equivalent to having an all-inclusive calendar. A value of "5C" in the day-of-month field means "the first day included by the calendar on or after the 5th". A value of "1C" in the day-of-week field means "the first day included by the calendar on or after sunday".
The legal characters and the names of months and days of the week are not case sensitive.
    Here are some full examples:
    Expression Meaning
    "0 0 12 * * ?" Fire at 12pm (noon) every day
    "0 15 10 ? * *" Fire at 10:15am every day
    "0 15 10 * * ?" Fire at 10:15am every day
    "0 15 10 * * ? *" Fire at 10:15am every day
    "0 15 10 * * ? 2005" Fire at 10:15am every day during the year 2005
    "0 * 14 * * ?" Fire every minute starting at 2pm and ending at 2:59pm, every day
    "0 0/5 14 * * ?" Fire every 5 minutes starting at 2pm and ending at 2:55pm, every day
"0 0/5 14,18 * * ?" Fire every 5 minutes starting at 2pm and ending at 2:55pm, AND fire every 5 minutes starting at 6pm and ending at 6:55pm, every day
    "0 0-5 14 * * ?" Fire every minute starting at 2pm and ending at 2:05pm, every day
"0 10,44 14 ? 3 WED" Fire at 2:10pm and at 2:44pm every Wednesday in the month of March.
    "0 15 10 ? * MON-FRI" Fire at 10:15am every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
    "0 15 10 15 * ?" Fire at 10:15am on the 15th day of every month
    "0 15 10 L * ?" Fire at 10:15am on the last day of every month
    "0 15 10 ? * 6L" Fire at 10:15am on the last Friday of every month
    "0 15 10 ? * 6L" Fire at 10:15am on the last Friday of every month
    "0 15 10 ? * 6L 2002-2005" Fire at 10:15am on every last friday of every month during the years 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005
    "0 15 10 ? * 6#3" Fire at 10:15am on the third Friday of every month
Pay attention to the effects of '?' and '*' in the day-of-week and day-of-month fields!
    NOTES:
Support for the features described for the 'C' character is not complete.
Support for specifying both a day-of-week and a day-of-month value is not complete (you'll need to use the '?' character in on of these fields).
Be careful when setting fire times between mid-night and 1:00 AM - "daylight savings" can cause a skip or a repeat depending on whether the time moves back or jumps forward.
Hope this answers all your questions and helps you!
    Cheers

  • ApEx and BPEL

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has any experience of integrating ApEx Applications with SOA and BPEL. We know it is possible but would like to hear from anyone who has had any experiences with it.
    Thanks
    Suzanne

    Hi,
The difficulty in this scenario is that you're going to integrate a data-centric application, APEX, with a data-centric process-handling technology, BPEL. In this case you will feed data from the database, fetched with APEX, back into a bpel process that inserts the data in the database.
The surplus of BPEL is the orchestration part to handle a process flow from A to Z, which can't be handled easily by APEX without a lot of manual work.
How is APEX going to handle hierarchical data that needs to be fed into your bpel process. Still a lot of architectural questions that need to handled, which is the case for each scenario of course ;o)
    Kind regards,
    Nathalie

I think you may find helpful information here:
A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
The Knowledgebase article Intel-based Mac: Some migrated applications may need to be updated refers to methods of dealing with migrating from PowerPC chips to Intel with the Migration Assistant safely. The authors of this tip have not had a chance to verify this works in all instances, or that it avoids the 10.6.1 and earlier Guest Account bug that caused account information to get deleted upon use of the Migration/Setup Assistant. However, a well backed up source that includes at least two backups of all the data that are not connected to your machine will help you avoid potential issues, should they arise. In event it does not work, follow the steps below.
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate.  Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
Screensavers written for the PowerPC System Preference add-ons
All Unsanity Haxies Browser and other plug-ins
    Contextual Menu Items
Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5 Kernel extensions
Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers unless they are universal binaries. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior, TechTool Pro , SuperDuper , and Drive Genius  work properly on Intel-Macs with Leopard.  The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries.  Leopard Cache Cleaner, Onyx, TinkerTool System, and Cocktail are now compatible with Leopard.
Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.

Transferring data with Setup Assistant - Migration Assistant FAQ
Because Migration Assistant isn't the ideal way to migrate from PowerPC to Intel Macs, using Target Disk Mode, copying the critical contents to CD and DVD, an external hard drive, or networking will work better when moving from PowerPC to Intel Macs.  The initial section below discusses Target Disk Mode.  It is then followed by a section which discusses networking with Macs that lack Firewire.
If both computers support the use of Firewire then you can use the following instructions:
    1. Repair the hard drive and permissions using Disk Utility.
    2. Backup your data.  This is vitally important in case you make a mistake or there's some other problem.
    3. Connect a Firewire cable between your old Mac and your new Intel Mac.
    4. Startup your old Mac in Transferring files between two computers using FireWire.
    5. Startup your new Mac for the first time, go through the setup and registration screens, but do NOT migrate data over. Get to your desktop on the new Mac without migrating any new data over.
If you are not able to use a Firewire connection (for example you have a Late 2008 MacBook that only supports USB:)
    1. Set up a local home network: Creating a small Ethernet Network.
    2. If you have a MacBook Air or Late 2008 MacBook see the following:

Copy the following items from your old Mac to the new Mac:
In your /Home/ folder: Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, and Sites folders.
    In your /Home/Library/ folder:
/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Application Support/iCal (copy the whole folder)
Also in /Home/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need including folders for any third-party applications)
/Home/Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Preferences/ (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/Calendars (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/Safari (copy the whole folder)
    If you want cookies:
    /Home/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist /Home/Library/Application Support/WebFoundation/HTTPCookies.plist
    For Entourage users:
Entourage is in /Home/Documents/Microsoft User Data Also in /Home/Library/Preferences/Microsoft.
Credit goes to Macjack for this information.
If you need to transfer data for other applications please ask the vendor or ask in the  Discussions where specific applications store their data.
    5. Once you have transferred what you need restart the new Mac and test to make sure the contents are there for each of the applications.
