Podcast showing 0 episodes in the feed

I have six episodes submitted to iTunes but today when I looked it says there are 0 episodes in the feed. The name of the podcast is Wayward Ginger. I checked Libsyn where I host my podcast and everything looks the same there. My feeds are still set up on my website. I'm not sure whee to trace this problem to. Can anyone help?

I'm not sure how well iTunes copes with 301 redirects - I've see it both work and not work. The correct procedure is detailed here:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#changing
but this requires you to be able to add a tag to the feed. As iTunes evidently isn't able to read the feed this isn't going to work. I think all you can do is try the redirect and see what happens: this is the problem with services like Blogger, in that you have no control over the feed or its URL.
You can check the feed which is being used by iTunes by subscribing (from the 'Subscribe Free' button on the Store page) and then going to the 'Podcasts' section in the iTunes sidebar and control-clicking (Mac) or right-clicking (Windows) the podcast line (not that for an episode) and choosing 'Copy podcast URL'.

• Podcast showing zero episodes in iTunes

I have a podcast feed (being created with the Blubrry Powerpress plugin for Wordpress) that is showing zero episodes in iTunes, despite the fact that it's a valid RSS feed. The feed can be found here: http://podcast.christnc.com/feed/podcast/
I also tried doing publishing this feed (http://christnc.com/category/podcast/feed/), which worked for a short time, but then showed zero episodes as well. Can anyone spot the problem?

• IWeb generated my podcast, how do I edit the feed?

I would like to add a title and artwork to my podcast, which has been created in iWeb and successfully submitted to the iTunes store. I know I need to add these to the feed, but don't know how to access the actual feed, since iWeb did all that work for me. How do I insert the image and title into my feed?
Thanks!

You can't edit the feed - at least, you could download it, edit it, and re-upload it - but iWeb would overwrite it the next time you added an episode so there's no point.
You can add title on the Podcast page of your site in iWeb - there should be a placeholder for it; and in most (though I believe not all) themes there is a placeholder for you to drag an image.
If it's not clear how to do this, or from the Help, you could ask in the iWeb Forum.

• Adding a pre-existing podcast to iTunes U using the feed method.

While trying to add another pre-existing CSULB podcast to our CSULB on iTunes U (using the "feed" method), I encountered an error message that I don't know how to interpret.
Can you help me with this or is there somebody else at Apple I should work with?
The pre-existing podcast is at: http://www.ccpe.csulb.edu/citt/podcast/feed.aspx
The error message reads:
"While attempting to download. . . iTunes U encountered an authorization error and could not update the content. Verity your authorization access to the feed specified in the feed URL field, including the user name and password permissions, and then try again."
I have no idea what this means. Can someone please help?

Is anyone using Podcast Producer 2 to publish content on iTunes U, and if so, does it work reasonably well (do you recommend using it)?
Its spiffy. I like it, but I'm a softie when it comes to Apple stuff.
Am I correct in thinking Podcast Producer 2 can only be used to create an RSS feed to point to podcasts stored in its Podcast Library or can you use Podcast Producer to upload files into our institutional iTunes U storage space (yes we are fortunate to have access to Apple's 500 GB storage space)?
You can choose to do either. Although I haven't seen anything official, I suspect that Apple prefers the use of Podcast Library…but that's just a preference, not any sort of recommendation or future direction. In the end, I suggest (and I think Apple would agree) that you do what makes the most sense for you. For example, we choose to do it both ways.
Can you provide a link to instructions (or explain how to either identify in iTunes U that the podcast is in Podcast Producer's Podcast Library as an RSS Feed or how to upload the podcast from Podcast Producer to a specific tab in a specific iTunes tab.
I believe someone (a friend from Apple…??) released a PcP workflow action that deals with iTunes U the same way as PcPv1 did. Overall, though, probably the best kept PcP secret is that Podcast Producer is a generalized workflow solution. Sure, it's cast as a podcasting solution…but if you can get OS X Server to do something, you can get Podcast Producer to turn it into a workflow…anything. Since OS X Server can be scripted to upload content to iTunes U, Podcast Producer can handle that too.
I appreciate any information given as I have tried with little success to find this information in either the iTunes U or Podcast Producer Admin guides.
Thanks!!

• Why subscribing to my podcast shows zero episodes?

When you subscribe to my podcast "Truth In Lending Show" it doesn't show episodes on iPhone and other devices, can you help?

Your iTunes Store page is at https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/truth-in-lending-show/id517892006?mt=2
Your feed is at http://www.getamortgageplan.com/podcasts/TILShow040112.xml
It all works on a Mac. I don't have an iOS device to check this, but I can offer a guess: your 'enclosure' tags don't have a 'length' attribute, which should contain the size of the file in bytes. Since iOS devices call part of the file at a time (the 'byte range requests' method) it seems likely that if they don't know what the file size is it may prevent them from accessing them. As I say, it's a guess, but the attribute should be there in any case. (Your server does handle byte range requests, so that itself isn't a problem). However this relates to actually downloading the episodes; if they aren't actually showing at all I can't suggest why not; you could ask in the iPhone forum and perhaps someone can check if the the same problem arises for them.

• Why does my playlist of podcasts have no episodes in the episode list?

I made a manual playlist of podcast episodes. 17 episodes. 11 hours, 10 minutes according to the picture I attached. Why are the episodes absent from the episode list view? I want to sort them using the column headings, but that's not possible if they're invisible.
Win 7 64 bit
8 gb of RAM
Core i5 3.2GHz

I also made a smart playlist. This one shows five out of 35. Please advise.

• Podcast not showing all the episodes in my feed

When i created my podcast i think i selected to only keep the latest 10 episodes by mistake. How could i correct this without deleting my current podcast and resubmitting a new feed to itunes?
http://construct.wickedbad.net/archives/category/mixes/jaime-le-dubstep/feed
right now its showing episodes 44 and up. i'd like it to start at 1 and keep them all.
Thanks for the help.
Marc

iTunes is indeed using the second feed you list but this immediately redirects to the first feed when you enter the URL in a browser. Presumably you have a redirect in place on the server? There are 115 episodes in the Store, and though I didn't count the ones in the feed they seem to match. So it all seems to be working and you could probably just leave it alone - since you have added episodes to the feed and iTunes has (presumably) picked then all up, the redirect seems to be working there OK. (Next time you add an episode to the feed, make sure it does indeed appear in the Store - after a couple of days - and when subscribing - this latter is immediate).
If you really want to change iTunes to the feed directly you are going to have to go through a bit of a process:
1. Copy the feed at http://construct.wickedbad.net/feed/podcast to the other location at
http://construct.wickedbad.net/archives/category/mixes/jaime-le-dubstep/feed
2. Add the redirect tag to this copy feed as indicated here:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#changing
3. Remove the server redirect.
4. Leave the copy feed in place until iTunes has swapped over (check this by subscribing from the Store page, clicking the line for your podcast (not an episode) and clicking the 'i' button at the right-hand end.

• Podcast shows up in iTunes Store but feed empty in iTunes

My podcast shows up perfectly in the iTunes store. All six episodes are there and up-to-date. But no matter what I do (subscribe, update, download all) the feed list in my iTunes program remains empty. Nothing gets downloaded...
Podcast URL: http://www.brug.nu/multimedia/diensten-gemist/?podcast
When I click on a single episode, it will download it to my iTunes\Downloads folder but will not copy it to the iTunes\Podcasts folder. All other podcasts work fine so it must be something wrong with this one.
What am I missing here?
Maarten

Your iTunes Store page is at
https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/de-brug-eindhoven-kerk-voor-nu/id852875733
The episodes there play within the Store. However on subscribing it is looking for a feed at the URL you quoted above:
http://www.brug.nu/multimedia/diensten-gemist/?podcast
This is not a feed, it's a web page. Since your Store page works, you evidently had a working feed in the past, and the Store has cached this: but you have somehow substituted the web page at the same URL - unless you server is set up to respond with a web page when requested from a browser and should serve a proper when requested from iTunes. In any case, subscribing in iTunes doesn't work so it is evidently seeing that web page.
Incidentally the 'iTunes' link near the top of the page attempt to subscribe iTunes to the same web page; there is an RSS icon at the bottom of the page linking to an actual feed but this has only the header and no episodes.

• My podcast has a channel, and one episode in the channel, but my second episode is only accessible via a search and doesn't appear in my channel

So I've recently submitted a podcast, and my channel is up and running with my first episode, but now that I've submitted my 2nd episode its not showing up when you view my podcast
BUT when you search my podcast name both episodes show up in the search results
As you can see its there in the 2nd picture but not in the first.
Futhermore when I click on the link to my own channel (the green rectangle on the bottom left of the second picture) it takes me right to the first picture, missing the 2nd episode.
Is this just a case of itunes being slow to add my next episode?
Here is a link to my RSS
http://miniaturejames.podbean.com/

That link is to your web page. Your feed is at http://miniaturejames.podbean.com/feed/
and your iTunes Store page is at https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/miniature-james-show/id687962754
There are three episodes in the feed, the last two posted only yesterday. It's quite normal for the Store to take a couple of days to show new episodes, so it's just a question of waiting.

• Can't see the podcast picture and episodes on iTunes

Hi,
My podcast feed was added to iTunes store about a week ago. It was working well for a couple of days, and now, I can't see my episodes and my podcast picture on iTunes catalogue.
I was wondering what might be the problem?
Here's the XML file created by Feedburner:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/AltSokakPodcast
Here's the iTunes page of my podcast:
http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=354093921
Thank you.

If you search on the title of your podcast your episodes show up in the search page (though the image doesn't) but not when you click on the image and go to the actual Store page, which is empty. Subscribing shows the episodes and the feed seems OK, so this is yet another Store glitch - there have been some odd goings-on recently. It may sort itself out eventually: I don't see there is anything you can do unless you want to try Support (who may not be much help).
iTunes support, for problems with podcasts, is at
http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'.

• Podcast Not Showing Previous Episodes

I updated my feed and the other episodes in the feed that preceded my newer episode no longer show up. Can someone please help?
http://www.weareomniverse.com/audio/omniversal.xml

Your feed has nine episodes , all correct as far as I can see. If there should be more, it is because whatever is making the feed has removed the earlier versions: some programs automatically remove earlier episodes once a certain number has been reached, but you can usually amend this.
I can't check on iTunes at the moment a I'm on Linux. Do you see nine episodes in iTunes? If not, could you post the URL for iTunes (control- or right-click the podcast image to copy it to the clipboard).

• How can I get the order of my podcast to appear correctly in the store?

When I subscribe to the podcast, the order is correct. However, in the store it is not. I just published the podcast to iTunes store and pubDate matches the physical order of the
tags and that's what matches the podcast when subscribed (new on top).

If you enter your podcast name in the search field, then the results page apparently shows the episodes in popularity order - it may also bring up other podcasts with a similar title and then mix up episodes from the various podcasts.
If you go to your actual Store page - click on the icon for your podcast in the Search results, or go to the URL you were given in the acceptance email - then initially the Store sorts by the numbered column at left, which should give the order of episodes in the feed. You can click on the headers for the other columns to sort by title, date, etc. - when subscribing you get pubDate order and no opportunity to change it.

• Podcast not updating episodes in iTunes store

Hi,
I have a podcast that is not showing newer episodes. My feed appears to be fine because I can subscribe to it and see the new episodes. I've also updated iTunes artwork and the store updated that within a day. Is there something wrong with my feed?
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/mojo-in-the-morning-podcast/id257739576
source: http://www.mojointhemorning.com/podcast/MojointheMorningPodcast.xml
thanks

The Store shows only the seven episodes posted on 2 December, whereas the large number both before and since then are visible when subscribing.
This is rather weird - it would be more usual for episodes after a given date not to show because of an error, and earlier ones shouldn't be affected.
However, there are a number of minor errors in the feed and I would refer you to the FeedValidator report. There is one which struck me as a possible cause for problems. The title tag of one of the episodes for 18 December reads

Already Opened My GiftsÔøΩ

The characters after 'Gifts' show up as a '?' in most readers but from what you see above it looks as if you've managed to insert something odd, probably by initially writing in a word processor (never a good idea). You should delete whatever you see after 'Gifts' and if you want a question mark type it directly in a plain text editor.

• We had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed error

I am trying to start a podcast and am just trying to do some tests to see if I can actually add the feed to iTunes. Every time I enter the url, I get an error.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/SomeMediaCriticsPodcast
The website is www.somemediacritics.com
I am posting my test podcasts as posts on wordpress. I am using plugins to add the audio file from soundcloud.
Thank you.

As you say, subscribing in iTunes manually works OK and the feed appears to be OK. The only thing I can see is that your media file URLs redirect to another URL - for example the top episode in the feed has the media file URL
http://feed.thecapstoneumc.org/~r/TheCapstoneUMC/~5/UNwzOWz45nI/A-Sinners-Feast. mp3
and this has a 301 redirect to
http://thecapstoneumc.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/A-Sinners-Feast.mp3
The lstter does test as handling 'byte range requests' as is mandatory, but when I tested the upper URL the redirect showed but not the byte range requests. I don't know whether all this is causing a problem in the Store - 301 redirect should be OK, but they are better avoided if you can. If you can use the actual URL that might work better.

Your feed is at http://blacktribbles.podomatic.com/rss2.xml
When subscribed to in iTunes the recent episodes show, but the Store hasn't updated for some time.
There appears to be an issue with the feed. In the episode 'WRESTLING MARCH MADNESS: Final Bracket & Championship' of 31st March you will find in the 'description' tag the following line:
4. KURT ANGLE
At the end of this line is an invisible character which seems to be wrecking the feed - although it works OK when suscribing in iTunes it won't load in a browser (and I also found the feed very slow to load, which won't help matters with the Store)
This sort of thing usually happens when you paste text in from a word processing application and manage to include one of the invisible control characters. I don't know how easy it will be do do it in Podomatic but you should delete that entire line and retype it to remove this charter.
You should keep an eye on the time it takes the feed to be accessed - if there is a long enough delay (and it was quite some seconds when I tried) the Store may well timeout and fail to read it. At the moment it's showing a cached version from the last time it was able to read it.
