Pointer jumps after each click

Pointer jumps all over the page. I put it on a location, and sometimes it will jump before I can even click on it. When I am scrolling several pages, then click on a location, the pointer may stay at that location but the document will jump back to page one. Sometimes when I am moving the pointer, it will catch on an image and not want to go past it. Sometimes with a dropdown menu it will highlight the wrong line and then remain there.
I thought it was my cord mouse, so bought a new Logitech cordless. Still works the same. I also just replaced my hard drive and still not solved.
Can anyone help please.

The "System Events" login item can refer to Apple's "Universal Access" System Preferences. Have you enabled any of them in the System Preferences/Universal Access/Mouse & Trackpad ?
Have you ever installed any haxies by a company named "Unsanity".
Do you have any other devices like a trackpad or a Wacom Tablet plugged in?
This doesn't sound like a hardware issue at all because the other user account works well, but just checking...

First off, there are three different layouts that you can use for DVDSP. The vast majority of people use the 'Advanced' layout which gives access to all of the tools and settings. Whilst it looks daunting, I recommend you switch to it. That way, you'll be seeing it the way others see it, and the instructions will make more sense to you.
You can add commands to lots of elements in your project. If you have a single video in your timeline and have put chapter markers along it, you can set an 'end jump' on each chapter marker by simply clicking on the marker once and looking in the property inspector for the 'end jump' setting. Use this to set each to go back to the main menu when it has played through.
However, this will not be the most reliable way to get this done. It will work on some players, but users will be able to skip through the track and bypass the end jumps. You can prevent this if you want, but an easier and more robust way to achieve this is to use stories.
If you look on the top bar of the app you'll see icons that enable you to add new elements to your project. Adding a story is as simple as clicking on the story icon.
A story is a container for chapters, and works like a play list in iTunes. You can add one or more chapters to the story, but in your case you only want to add one per story. Stories are also elements in your project and they can have end jumps on them. You add a story, and then in the story tab drag a single chapter from the list of chapters into the story container. You repeat this for every story you need. Then set the end jumps for the stories - click on a story in the outline view tab or graphical view and look in the property inspector... set the end jump for each story to go back to your menu.
The buttons on the menu now need to have the story container as the target and NOT the chapter inside them. This is crucial.
If you do this correctly it will work as you want it to, with just a single chapter playing and then the disc sending the viewer back to the menu.

Something like it works in Gmail. I do not want to use set lists, I want to enter different addresses each time I send an email. And I am a very slow typist, so I don't want to type the first few letters of each recipient's name. It is much faster for me to just click on the e-mail addresses in the list as a group. It doesn't make any sense to me to have to reopen the contact list for each address, when it should be so easy to click on all of the addresses I want at one time and then click once to add them all to the email as a group. Try this:
1. Select Mail>File>New Message.
2. Select Mail>Window>Address Panel.
3. Use (command+click) on the desired addressees in the Address Panel to create the list.
4. Click "To:" on the top left of the Address Panel.
The group that you selected will be added to the "To" field in your New Message.

So it sounds like you are trying to burn a DVD with photos on it so the photos can be either transferred to or displayed on a Windows PC, is that correct?
For the purposes of this I am going to assume you are using iPhoto '11.
Gather the photos you want to burn to DVD in one album in iPhoto. This is not absolutely necessary but it sure makes things easier for me.
Select that album, then go to the File menu and select Export...
In the dialog that shows up, select the File Export tab. Select the setting you want to use for export. Click the Export button.
Another dialog will show up. Set the location to Desktop and click the New Folder button. Name the folder something nice and descriptive and click the Create button.
Click the OK button. Quit iPhoto as the rest of this work will be done in the Finder.
You will now have a folder on your desktop with that nice descriptive name. Find it and select it. Go to the File menu and from it select Burn "Descriptive folder name" to Disc...
Insert a blank DVD when prompted.
Let the finder complete the work and eject the disc afterwards.

Old operating systems allowed you to click on recipients when sending emails without adding a comma after each address. Now with the new and improved system, I have to stop and add a comma after each name. How can I avoid this?

With the new OSX system, whenever I send an email with multiple recipients, I need to physically add a comma after each address. I never needed to do that with all the other older systems, it was done automatically. How can I fix this frustrating glitch?

option discovered in preferences. Really this and any feature that moves deletes or edits a users data should as far as possible be OFF BY DEFAULT. It shouldn't by default and without the users specific say do this dangerous and unnecessary thing without even letting the user know what it's doing!!! And then cause me a few hours (as i'm new to mac) searching for the option so as to switch it off. If i hadn't noticed the status cage declaring that it was copying files then i might never have twigged that this insane thing was occurring. And if i hadn't of noticed i would have been left maintaining the contents of the folder i copied the files to, the folder which as far as i was informed and so believed was also the location of the music files i was playing. How does Apple justify this 'genius' piece of software non-design? Surely it will hurt no one if this was off by default for new users - overall at least i dare say it would cause a lot less distress in the future for the unsuspecting public at large. FillBy always fills in the same row in data grid view. How to make it fill in a new row for each click of the Fillby Button? VB 2010 EXPRESS?

database using the fillby query.
It works, but it repopulates the same row each time, but i want to be able to display multiple records at the same time, a new row should be filled for
each click of the fillby button.
also I want to be able to delete any records if the customer suddenly decides to not buy an item after it has already been entered.
so actually 2 questions here:
1. how to populate a new row for each click of the fillby button
2. how to delete records from data grid view after an item has been entered

Hello,
The FillBy method loads data according to what the results are from the SELECT statement, so if there is one row then you get one row in the DataGridView, have two rows then two rows show up.
Some examples
Form load populates our dataset with all data as it was defined with a plain SELECT statement. Button1 loads via a query I created after the fact to filter on a column, the next button adds a new row to the existing data. When adding a new row it is appended
to the current data displayed and the primary key is a negative value but the new key is shown after pressing the save button on the BindingNavigator or there are other ways to get the new key by manually adding the row to the backend table bypassing the Adapter.
The following article with code shows this but does not address adapters.

ITunes deleted all my apps after I clicked "Cancel" to sync apps

I'm at work and I wanted to do some serious app re-arranging. Rather than doing it manually on my iPhone5, I luanched iTunes. Note: I do *not* sync my iPhone with my work computer, but I thought maybe it could still rearrange the apps since I can see them all nicely there in iTunes. So here were my exact steps:
plug in my iPhone
launch into iTunes
click on my iPhone device
click on the "Apps" tab
re-arrange my Apps in a different order
checked other tabs (Tones, Music, Movies, etc) and confirmed *none* are set to sync
clicked "Sync"
Aside: Now before you jump on the "you're an idiot bus" (still quite likely), I *did* know that this might not be a great idea. However, I remember accidentally clicking "sync" on a foreign computer in the past, and I remember it always asked me before doing anything destructive, so I decided it was a safe thing to try.
Anyway, back to iTunes... after I clicked "Sync", this happened:
iTunes popped up a prompt saying something along the lines of "this device is not synced with this computer, if you sync apps, it will delete all the apps on the device and replace them with the apps on this computer" with options to "sync" or "cancel".
I clicked "Cancel"
iTunes popped up another prompt saying something like "this computer is not authorized with the iTunes account for the device" with options to "authorize" or "cancel".
I clicked "Cancel"
At this point I EXPECTED to get a message saying iTunes could not sync the device, but INSTEAD, iTunes continued doing *something*.
By the time it was done, almost all of my App Store apps were completely wiped off my phone. What's really odd is that some were left behind. My phone is now in this state:
native Apple apps (phone, messages, etc) and all their data (call logs, texts, etc) are still intact
almost all purchased apps are gone
none of the purchased apps that were left behind are on the computer, so that doesn't explain why they didn't get deleted with the rest
So, what the HECK happened here? Why did iTunes destroy all my apps when I told it not to? Has anyone else had this problem? Is this some strange iTunes bug that there's a magical fix to get all my apps back? Please help.

go into the itunes store, go to your account, click purchase history. that gives you a list of all the things you have downloaded.
you will be able to re-download all your apps for free.
and for the songs, click "report problem", this will allow you to email apple, tell them that you have lost your songs, they will usually respond fairly quickly saying that they have put the songs back into your account and that they will be available to download the next time you go into itunes.

Reduce Question Point Value with Each Guess

I'm attempting to create a quiz in Captivate 5.5 with 26 multiple choice questions. The catch is that the more attempts it takes to get the right answer, the less points they earn for that question. For instance, if they come to the question and get it right on the first try they get 4 points. If they get it on their 2nd guess they get 2 points. If they get it on their 3rd guess they get 1 point. After that they earn 0 points.
I also need to send SCORM results to an LMS. All I need in those results is the total points scored.
I've thought of a few different ways to attack this, but neither is very elegant. The first was to create Possible Points and Earned Points variables. The Possible Points variable was reduced by the appropriate amount after a wrong guess and added to the Earned Points variable and reset to 4 after a good guess. This would have worked, except I didn't know how to have the project report the Earned Points variable to the LMS instead of (or in addition to) the system variable cpQuizInfoPointsscored.
The other way was to make as many duplicate slides for each question as there were possible answers. The only thing different on each slide would be the question point value. The person gets it wrong, they go to the next slide, which is worth less, rinse, repeat. The person gets it right, they jump to the first slide of the next question. This would work, using the system variables, but editing any questions later would be cumbersome.
This is my first captivate project, so hopefully I am just missing some easy setting. I couldn't find anything in my many searches, though. Any gurus have a thought on how to do this?

The problem is that the score for every question slide, or for every scored object (like a button) will be added to the total score. You can perfectly store the result in a user variable, but the system variable cpQuizInfoPointsscored is a read-only variable. I have been trying to explain this issue in a blog post:

There are several possible causes for this issue. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried until it's resolved. Some may not apply in your case.
1. Follow the instructions in this support article, and also this one, if applicable. A damaged or defective AC adapter could be the cause, even if it's the right kind.
2. Press down all four corners of the trackpad at once and release. If there's any effect, it's likely to be temporary, and in that case the unit must be serviced or replaced.
3. Open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and delete all pointing devices other than the trackpad, if applicable. Disconnect any USB pointing devices. By a "pointing device," I mean a peripheral that moves the cursor, such as a trackpad, mouse, trackball, or graphics tablet. A plain keyboard is not a pointing device.
4. Start up in safe mode and test, preferably without launching any third-party applications. If you don't have the problem in safe mode, but it comes back when you restart as usual, stop here and post your results. Do the same if you can't start in safe mode. If there was no difference in safe mode, go on to the next step.
5. Reset the System Management Controller.
6. If you're using a Bluetooth trackpad or mouse, investigate potential sources of interference, including USB 3 devices.
7. A swollen battery in a portable computer can impinge on the trackpad from below and cause erratic behavior. If you have trouble clicking the trackpad, this is likely the reason. The battery must be replaced without delay.
8. There's a report that a (possibly defective) Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can cause the built-in trackpad of a MacBook to behave erratically. If you're using such an adapter, disconnect it and test.
9. There's also a report of erratic cursor movements caused by an external display that was connected but not turned on.
10. If none of the above applies, or if you have another reason to think that your computer is being remotely controlled, remove it from the network by turning off Wi-Fi (or your Wi-Fi access point), disconnecting from a Bluetooth network link, and unplugging the Ethernet cable or USB modem, whichever is applicable. If the cursor movements stop at once, you should suspect an intrusion.
11. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine and/or external trackpad tested.

X230: Pointer jumps away when lifting finger from touchpad

Guys I'm having this issue with my touchpad, when I slide towards a button on the screen and lift my finger up to hit the click button, in most of the cases I mis-click because it seems the pointer jumps away when I lift my finger. This is very irritating.
This was default with clean install Windows 7. So I installed the drivers i.e. UltraNav, but that made things worse! Now it seems like the resolution has dropped and the mouse cursor is twitchy. I played with the UltraNav settings, made things a bit better, but yet still worse than the default configuration I had with Windows 7. Oh yeah, the jumpiness of the cursor remained after lifting finger from touchpad. So I removed those drivers again...
What to do now? Seems like a software issue, but that jumping drives me nuts.......

I find that touchpad is most usable with latest ultranav drivers, medium senisitivity and whatever 2finger gesture things you like.
In Windows settings have enhanced pointer precision checked (important) and mid-high pointer speed.
Still though, it feels horrible to use

Objects jumping after releasing mouse/entering information manually

Hello all,
I hope I can explain this without the benefit of video... I just started having a weird problem in Illustrator CS5. When trying to do some precise placement of objects and points, I notice that the objects/points are moving slightly from where I intended. For example, I am trying to place the end point of a line on top of the end point of another line. I am zoomed in all the way, I drag the point into JUST the right place, smart guides are on and read "intersect"—in other words, it's locked in, right in place. Then, when I release the mouse button, the point jumps diagonally up or down a few clicks. It's really weird too, because sometimes it will jump say, up and to the left, sometimes down and to the right. The only constant is that I can't place things where I want them. It is driving me nuts!
Also, I just noticed it happens even if I enter numerical information. For example, if I have a shape and I enter the width as 20 mm, after I hit return, it changes it to 19.756 mm.
Has anyone else had this problem? I have tried everything. Smart guides on/off, all the guides are off, snap to point, snap to grid, etc. all off. I have deleted my preferences and .plist and restarted... This is version 15.0.2 and I don't think there is an update available.
Any help or advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance!

I believe you should have a look at the File>New document settings. The setting was introduced in CS5, seemingly under the assumption that all users would prefer to have it on, at least in RGB documents with the Web document profile or Flash Catalyst document profile.

Using a Macro to add a Carriage Return after each data entry within all cells of an imported range of cells

I have a macro that copies data from a Target workbook then pastes the data into a destination workbook. I then wish to use lookups in the destination workbook to view specific data from the pasted range of data on a separate sheet.
The problem is, the cells that contain numbers from the pasted data have the green dogeared error flags associated with the cell. The only way I can make a lookup function work, is to go to each cell and manually enter a carriage return after each entry.
The code for the macro is given below. What can be done so that the pasted data contains no errors associated with the number cells? Or can a second macro be written to clean the data. If so can you help me out? Thanks in advance.

The green "dogeared error flags" of the cells means that you paste numbers in these cells, but they're formated as Text.
So you need to change the cells back to the correct format so that the lookup function works fine. You can simply call this method after pasting:

That's a bit vague, but you may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.

Thunderbird occasionally opens links in Firefox; some open, most do not. Each click on a link produces a new Firefox.exe in Task Manager, Win. 7.

I have tried all suggestions in articles relating to 'links in Thunderbird not opening in Firefox.' None of them work.
The issue is, one link will usually open if it is the first time I click a link in Thunderbird. After that I cannot open any links to Firefox, and each click on a link in Thunderbird (including the first one) produces an additional firefox.exe in Task Manager (see image). Each of these Firefox iterations are generally 49,000+K. They do not seem to interfere with Firefox's operation.
I also cannot right click to 'open link in browser.' Only copying link location and pasting it into the browser is working for me. this has been fairly recent with the last two upgrades to Thunderbird.
Any suggestions?

Dell M3800 mouse pointer jumps

I am having a problem with my Dell M3800 trackpad pointer jumping around randomly. I have adjusted all the options i can think of and it seems to be a problem with the driver or hardware.
The behavior is:
When moving the trackpad around, when i click (either a press or a touch) the trackpad pointer will randomly appear somewhere else on the screen.
* It is NOT a palm rest keyboard issue. It happens when I'm not typing - it is a clicking issue.
* I have tried turning OFF the "tap to click" option in the dell trackpad app (Sensitivity --> Tapping --> Tap to click) and still having the problem
I'm running the latest Dell trackpad driver, 17.0.15.85,A00.
Any ideas? Is this a confirmed problem? Hardware problem or should I maybe install the newer generic synaptics driver?

Is this the original Apple mouse? Do you have any third-party mouse drivers installed? (Look in System Preferences under "Other"). Presumablly you've tried adjusting the mouse sensitivity in System Preferences; have you also checked if the mouse if jumpy in other user accounts? If you can, try a different USB mouse on the eMac to ccheck it's not the hardware.
You can test if the mousing surface is at fault by using a plain sheet of heavyweight bond paper as a mouse pad. If that resolves the issue, try the tip first suggested in the eMac Discussions by Ron Jackle: use a plain floor tile as a mouse pad. You want one that's non-glossy, fairly plain, and not too refelctive. I've got such tiles in use on several computers (Macs, PCs, and Unix), using a light tan 8x10 tile from Home Depot, label 8x10-5202, SKU 3057645425, which retails for about US$1 (I recall the last one beint 89 cents plus tax) when bought one at a time.
